I went here during Clayton restaurant week and had a really nice dinner with my boyfriend. It was my first time at this restaurant. The ambiance was soft/dim lighting with table votives. The waitstaff was attentive and friendly. I ordered the 8oz Sirloin with the garlic mashed potatoes and side salad with lemon basil dressing. It was delicious. The meal was topped of with an espresso and this fruit in cream dessert that's inside an edible chocolates bowl. My favorite part was that the espresso was served with a miniature "rock candy" on a stick instead of a sugar packet. So cute!!!! I would go back just for that .

First class food and service. Excellent environment/ambiance. Absolutely love this place. Very few places can match or exceed this place. One of my absolute favorites.

I now understand the price difference in Crab Cakes based on where you are. These crab cakes, 90% crab 10% filler, absolutely perfect and flavor spot on. The lyonnaise potatoes, while they were good with the carmelized onions, they were a tad crispier than I would have prefered. I sat at the bar and I will say, it's interesting to see how the wait staff are so much more attentive to regulars vs. newbys. Guess I didn't make the cut.

I love that I can always count on Ruth's Chris for a lovely meal. I prefer this location to the downtown location (better ambience and closer to me). BF and I enjoy coming here from time to time for date night or to celebrate a special occasion. Service is always wonderful. Everyone from hostess to server to table assistant to manager make sure you have a positive dining experience. If you are celebrating something, they will comment (happy birthday, congratulations, etc.). This is a nice little touch. I always forget that their portions are huge. Everything is server a la carte. Boyfriend and I usually share and appetizer and/or salad and then get our own entrees and one side. When ordering, I always think "maybe we should get two appetizers/our own salads/two sides." By the time food starts arriving, I'm always glad I didn't. I am rarely able to save room for desserts which are incredible. I used to get a steak every time I was here but have gone for the crab cakes the last couple of times. They're really incredible and are served sizzlin' like the steaks. When I do get a steak, I usually get a filet. Love the oscar style preparation but also really like the "simpler" gorgonzola crusted preparation too. Tough choices!

Ruth's Chris has been recommended to me for years, and I only just recently went. Food and service were outstanding, and I look forward to going back. Soup of the Day was Lobster Bisque = 4.5/5 (could have only been better w/ small bits of lobster) Complimentary Bread and Butter = 4.5/5 (Outside was crustier and I prefer soft, some of ours slightly burned) 8 oz Sirloin with Oscar Topping (Bearnaise, Crab Meat, Asparagus) = 5/5 (would definitely pay extra for Oscar topping again - it was delicious, lots of crab) Creamed Spinach = 5/5 (I am not a fan of creamed spinach but tried this based on a recommendation and was pleasantly surprised) Mashed Potatoes = 4.5/5 (pretty darn good) Creme Brulee = 4/5 (decent size, a little looser on the consistency than I'm used to, good flavor) Want to come back to try the Lobster Voodoo. That seemed really popular. Pics to be posted.

I took my husband here to celebrate a promotion and we had a really nice time. The food was excellent. My husband loved his steak. I am a vegetarian and they have an excellent veggie plate option. I am not much of a wine drinker but I had the moscato and it was excellent. The atmosphere was very relaxing and comfortable and the service was outstanding. I would definitely go back for special occasions.

Shirl said she always wanted to go to Ruth Chris, so she went with Al for their anniversary. They wanted an appetizer and the only viable choice was a salad with Ahi, which they had no idea would be raw. When it was returned to the kitchen to be cooked for additional time, it was fine. (Al disagrees. He says just edible.). She yes the 5 bites of steak were edible. And that the steak at TGI Fridays would blow it away. She felt the ambience was old and plain. Al said it didn't come up to expectations for a Clayton restaurant. They needless to say will not be returning.

Disappointed for a special occasion. My husband and I celebrated my birthday last weekend and I chose Ruth's Chris. In the past, my mother has taken us there (she loves it) for special occasions to the locations in Biloxi, MS and Mobile, AL. I've also visited the one in Irvine, CA. I thought it was a safe bet and I craved a steak and lobster duo. We arrived and were greeted by the hostess who asked which one of us was celebrating a birthday. We were seated and a Mardi Gras bead necklace was placed on the table. The waiter greeted us and commented on the birthday as well. We started the lobster appetizer ($20) ordered the pre fixe menu that comes with salad, steak & lobster, a choice from 2 sides, and "dessert duo." We enjoyed the meal and the portions were great. After our entrée plates were cleared, we were handed a dessert menu. We were both confused because we saw "dessert duo" as part of the pre fixe menu and generally this IS part of a pre fixe. We looked through the menu and chose something, assuming maybe we get a choice. We chose banana crème pie. We then found out they were out of it...bummer, but okay. I went with another great choice, crème brulee. The dessert came. Nothing special. We shared it and were already showing disappointment. This was my special occasion. We were celebrating a lot that weekend (a new move, 2 new jobs, birthday, belated anniversary). The bill came and everything was on there. No complimentary dessert for a birthday? Seriously? After spending almost $200 without gratuity. I wanted to ask about the dessert duo but my husband stopped me. We both already felt deflated and he was probably worried I would not have asked nicely (I would have, for the record). Disappointing for such a huge corporation. We should have gone mom & pop but I had had such good experiences in the past with every other Ruth's Chris we had been to.

I came here last night with a friend for Clayton restaurant week. It was my first time coming here. My experience was not the best. I came 10 minutes before my reservation time and was told that they were behind. We weren't seated until 10 minutes after my reservation time of 8:15. Not too big of a deal. Our waiter was very nice however we experienced long wait times for the remainder of our 3 course meal. The wait was so noticeable that the two tables closest to us who were each seated after us, both received their meals long before us. One of the couples even left while we were still eating our dessert, having already received their dessert. To make matters worse, when I finally received my 8 oz sirloin steak which I ordered medium well was rare. I had it sent back and talked to the manager. He was apologetic but made excuses. He said "well we don't know how those tables ordered their steaks, they may have ordered them rare." I responded to him with "well that's irrelevant if I ordered my steak medium and got my steak much later them and mine was rare!" As a way to make up for the poor service, he offered me another glass of wine on the house. I was not pleased but I accepted it. The food was good, once it came correctly. The mashed potatoes and steak were well prepared. However, it is hard to say that I will return because I was very disappointed with my service and the excuses from the manager. I accept that it was restaurant week so they were busy, but I look at this occasion as a way to promote their business, and I'm uncertain if they succeeded in that effort with me.

Oh Ruth, you're way too good to me! I know I can always rely on you for a fantastic meal, and once again, you came through. My husband and I prefer this location over the downtown location, as it has a more classy steak house feel to it with the dark woods and deep red tones, while downtown is more trendy with neon lights and such. The portions here are large, and many items such as the salads, sides, and desserts can easily be shared. That being said, my husband and I started our meal by splitting a wedge salad. It included the typical wedge ingredients such as bacon, blue cheese, and blue cheese dressing, and I highly recommend it if you like blue cheese... they certainly don't skimp on those tasty crumbles! We also split a side of cheesy, gooey, au gratin potatoes that were nothing less than excellent. They perfectly complemented our two petite filets. The steak is served on a 500 degree plate and comes to the table sizzling, which I believe is the sound that translates to "Eat me!" in steak talk. To end our meal, we ordered a chocolate mousse cheesecake with a chocolate cookie crust. It was sooo rich... and sooo good! :) The service here is always top-notch. They want to ensure you are happy with your meal from start to finish. Due to this (and the wonderful food), we will most definitely be back again.

Went last night for my girlfriend's birthday. Service was excellent. Food was great. I got lamb chops with the mint jelly. They were full of flavor very tender and juicy. She got the surf and turf filet with the crab on top. Was very tender and juicy as well. We shared a Cesar salad, sweet potato casserole, and asparagus. The sweet potato casserole was fantastic. I definitely recommend this as at least one side as the sides are meant to be shared. Since it was her birthday, they gave her a complementary dessert, which was really good as well. Not really sure what it was, like a pudding with crunchy goodness on top layer and some fresh berry fruits. All in all the food was great, service was great, but it was super expensive. Was a $200+ meal with tip. If you have the extra money, and looking to out for a special occasion you should check it out at least once.

Worst management staff. I have never been treated so poorly at a restaurant let alone a high end restaurant where I'm spending hundreds of dollars. After letting the manager know we experienced very poor slow service he got defensive, didn't apologize for the service, called me a liar and stormed off to go get our bill to charge us full price. I thought I was speaking to a 14 year old. This is unfortunate because this shows me the direction Ruth's chris is going by hiring managers like this.

Food was excellent! bar service questionable. We had to ask for our cocktails and waive the bartender down. She was more concerned with running the dishwasher behind the bar them making sure we had the drinks needed. I have been there numerous times and for a restaurant bar I got the impression they didn't want our business! The sad part about this is certain wines were not chilled so she substituted without telling me and I then had to ask. I think think their food is always top notch but the rush to get the bar "cleaned up" and closed for the evening before 11 takes away from the dining enjoyment. Also women do tip as well as men so she might want to keep that in mind for the future. Disappointing service experience with wonderful food .

Visited as part of Clayton Restaurant Week. They were offering a mixed greens salad, 6 ounce filet, and a dessert combo for $25 a person. We decided to include Teen and Tween as steak is one of their favorite meals and they are no strangers to fine dining so they know how to behave themselves in this kind of place. We made a reservation and arrived promptly - they were running about 10 minutes behind, which was no big deal. The waiter introduced himself and his assistant, answered our questions about the menu, and informed us about their other offerings and add-ons. We ordered drinks and he started us off with some hot, fresh bread with real whipped butter. We had 2 Caesar, 1 balsamic, and 1 hot bacon salad (dressing choices) and the winner was the hot bacon. That said, they were all delicious and the salad was fresh and interesting. The steaks were cooked perfectly. Even Tween's, who likes her steak cooked so rare that a lot of servers don't believe her and give her medium-rare, which she hates. The way she likes her steak reminds me of something my Dad used to say: "Just knock the horns off it and wipe its @$$." Anyway, we were all pleased and were just as impressed by the presentation - on sizziling hot plates with butter. When we told the waiter how much we loved the steaks, he went on to educate us about why they are so good. They are wet aged for 30 days, and they are Prime beef which is known for even marbling. This results in a very consistent texture and flavor that just melts in your mouth! Sides were mashed potatoes and creamed spinach. Teen loves mashed potatoes, and said these were very good. Neither Teen nor Tween liked the cream spinach but it was a big hit with the parents. For dessert, they presented us with some berries and cream and a small cheesecake. Both were delicious, but the big hit were the berries. I thought it was a weird choice at first, but made for a nice light ending to the meal and I would order it from the regular menu I liked it so much. Overall, we had a great experience. The service was what it should have been for a restaurant of this caliber, Teen and Tween were treated well, and the food was outstanding. We'll be back here, but probably will save for a special occasion due to the price.

This is my 300th review!!! I timed my review writing so that I could make sure that this milestone was marked by a fantastic experience and Ruth's Chris delivered in spades! No doubt about it - that fillet mignon was the single best fillet mignon I've ever had in a restaurant. We went during Clayton restaurant week. We had freshly baked bread, some hard cider, a salad, two side dishes and desserts...all just noise compared to the steak. Service was great too but the star of this show was most certainly the steak. I ordered mine medium-rare and that was exactly how it arrived. A nice hunk of meat on a sizzling plate with a little butter on top. Nothing else on the plate except for the steak. Great big beefy flavor. Salt, pepper, butter, beef - nothing else. The steak itself was absolutely amazing! Slight char on the exterior, beautiful red color on the inside and every bite was as amazing as the first. I think the sizzling plate helped out quite a bit in this department as it kept the steak at a temperature which was just slightly below "burn the skin off the roof of your mouth" such that every bite delivered the same experience of the first bite. No culinary tricks or adventure needed - this meat was truly so good that a white plate with a steak on it was all it took to get them another five star review to add to the pile. Aged USDA prime grade beef - seasoned perfectly - cooked exactly as ordered. I was impressed by every single bite!

Dear Lord, you can take me now. Look, I know its really expensive. I get that its fancy schmancy. I acknowledge the fact that I can likely get a perfectly good steak elsewhere for half the bill. But holy smokes, the food here always makes me cry. I don;t know what they do to their steaks, but I have yet to find one that comes close somewhere else. Yes, you must take out a second mortgage to dine here, but at least I'll die happy. The service is always perfect, the food is always outstanding. If you get a good booth, you'll want to stay until closing. Add a bottle of red and you've got a perfect evening. I think everyone should treat themselves to this at least once in their lives. Ruth's Chris...I love you. (psssst, don't tell my wife)

Let me preface this review by saying, my husband and I ate here the Sunday after Valentine's Day with our four year old in tow. Normally, taking a four year old to an expensive restaurant is not our style, but as we were without a babysitter, we decided to brave the expected dirty looks from customers and annoyed eye-rolling from staff. Fortunately, to our surprise, we didn't get either. We arrived late for our reservation due to some untimely dawdling on the part of our offspring who did not care to wear the ill-fitting dress pants and sweater combo we deemed necessary for the outing. We ate 'senior citizens early' (5pm) in order to cause minimal disruption to other diners in case things turned ugly. Interestingly, the restaurant was fuller than I expected when we arrived, but we were seated immediately. My four year old was mesmerized both by the revolving door upon entering the restaurant and by the fish tank holding a glowing jellyfish, as we passed through the bar to arrive at our seats. Upon seating, the waiter pulled out my chair and placed the napkin in my lap. I will say I got a few raised eyebrows from a table nearby when I set my son up with an iPad at the table. Normally, I'm not a fan of parents who indulge in this practice, but my husband and I wanted some adult conversation and the iPad helped quiet my little one, tremendously. Additionally, a nice French waiter came by our table to ask about our son. He put us at ease when he shared stories about his own grandson. A waiter's assistant offered us sparkling or ice water to drink. We opted for ice water. Bread was brought to the table and specials were read. We had been notified by the hostess that a child's menu was available upon request, but as we knew our son's taste, we did not request one. Interestingly, each table had a tablet which featured wines, beers and cocktails. The cocktails had intriguing names like "The Christian Grey" and "Orange is the New Black". My husband ordered the 12 oz filet with the brandy peppercorn sauce (medium) and the garlic mashed potatoes. As I knew my son would be sharing with me, I ordered the petite filet (medium rare) and the shoestring fries. We both ordered a salad - he had the Caesar and I ordered the Tomato & Onion. The Caesar salad looks a bit odd plated with three stalks of lettuce and three grape tomatoes, but my husband enjoyed it anyway. The tomato & onion salad is divine with mounds of crumbled blue cheese. Our wait for the main course wasn't long. The filets came served on sizzling plates. Unfortunately - or perhaps fortunately - the kitchen forgot the sauce. The waiter went back to the kitchen and my husband received his sauce on the side. This meant I got to sample some without the a la cart price tag. I judged my 'medium rare' filet to be more rare, but it tasted fine and my son and I shared it without complaint. The shoestring fries arrived piled high on a massive plate. They were delicious and my son loved finding "the really big ones" and showing them to us before consumption. The manager came by towards the end of our meal and inquired about our evening. She even complimented our son's behavior and gave him some beads and trinkets from the restaurant. I really appreciate the staff making us feel welcome. We didn't order dessert and my husband had a few beers, but the bill was still over $150. The food was simply prepared, but quality. Our filets were tender and delicious. The service waned a bit at the end, as the restaurant filled, but we probably only noticed because our little person was starting to get tired and restless. Overall, we experienced a successful evening. In part, I attribute this to the staff, from hostess to waiters to manager. They could have been snotty and annoyed, but instead they made us feel welcome - they made us all feel welcome. Pros Food - steaks were tender and delicious. Not over-seasoned. Side dishes were plentiful. Drinks - presentation, variety, imaginative names Atmosphere - Valentine's Day decor, balloons and roses everywhere, rose petals on the table. If you're looking for real romance, reserve a booth. Service - helpful, mostly attentive Cons Cold, dark women's restrooms (ice cold water in the sink) - random, I know Expensive Parking is a little inconvenient unless opting for valet.

One of the worst dining experiences I had in a long time. Our server was arrogant. We came for a birthday celebration nothing was done for it not even a candle. We were overcharged and even the manager couldn't figure out how to remove the charge. Ridiculous! Won't ever return. Food was good, service horrible.

Stopped in on a Sunday night for a cocktail and an appetizer. I tried the calamari and it was outstanding. Lightly breaded and flash-fried to perfection! Cocktail was good and the service was excellent. Next time I'll have to get a filet because it looks absolutely delicious!!

Went here for our wedding anniversary on Thursday night. Service was excellent, and the food seemed great. However, I can't attest to how the food is prepared nor the quality of the ingredients . One thing is certain... we will never be a guests of this establishment ever again. FYI... I had the bread, ceasar salad, petite filet, mashed potatoes, and spinach.

Excellent steaks! Top it with some shrimps is beyond this world. I especially like the service. The waitress was nice. My water was refilled three times without asking for it. Now that is good service! Everything was perfect. Minus one star for the manager up front at the counter. He could be a little friendlier, and smile.

Spectacular food, as you might expect. Staff is nice and not overbearing, though the frequency that they checked on us to see if everything was okay was rather high. If they have the seafood gumbo as their soup that day, I highly recommend it! The bread pudding is great for dessert, too. And, of course, you can't go without getting a steak there.

The food and service was excellent - I don't have a complaint at all except those prices. You do pay for the service and "fluff". I will only be attending on a very special occasion.

They actually make cocktails correctly here. The steaks are just okay. Clayton location. Good place for drinks/sliders after work. None of the hostesses are post-menopausal which is a plus

Although part of a national chain, the Clayton location really shines. Great space and lots of private rooms. A large rectangular bar with lots of choices and great little casual seating in the bar area for a less formal meal and drinks. Steak are always well prepared. I've had some that were a 10/10 and some that were a 8/10, but generally very good. Fast service, OUTSTANDING location in Clayton... use the fast Valet service if available. Wine list is great, but not cheap. Perfect for couples, friends or a business dinner. The other St. Louis location overlooks the Arch, but Clayton is a more fun and friendly area. After dinner, try a Cigar at the RItz nearby to end an evening of Clayton perfection. NY Strip, Ribeye and Filet rank high on the list.... the specials add lots of seafood, so be sure to ask price. Salads are great. Drinks are well poured. The casual bar area makes this a fast and friendly place to take a colleague to dinner and not feel to stuffy and eat a bit faster. Above average wines by the glass. The only better steak in St. Louis may be Flemings or Annie Gunns. Some like Mortons or Citizen Kanes, we like this spot better.

VERY disappointed with Ruth Chris Steak House in Clayton, made reservations early last week for my girlfriends and I - Friday 8:00pm was the day and time I reserved over the phone. I get a call today, Wednesday confirming my reservation for tonight !!! Needless to say we are not going tonight, or Friday night it seems. The manager called me to see if 9:30pm was good.. are you serious ? my original request was for 6:30 pm but settled for 8, why would someone assume it will be ok with a 9:30 pm reservation. Anyhow, we all feel this was done intentionally since I expressed at the time of the reservation that we wanted to take advantage of the Clayton Restaurant Week deal - trust me, they would had made the difference with the alcohol tab, and some. But I guess their priority is with the customers that will pay regular price.

I took my significant other here for special celebration for a job promotion. Hands down one of the best steaks we have every eaten! Everything about our food was perfect. The side dish portions were large and beautifully presented. We received some of the best, most attentive service we have ever experienced. The server was knowledgable and made excellent recommendations. Highly recommend for any special occasion.

Went back here a few times, definitely feel like it's improved. Or maybe the service has improved. I don't know! I usually go for happy hour. I think it's 4pm - 6pm Monday through Thursday, and if you go Friday, it's all day happy hour. I got the Filet Oscar again which is fantastic! Tiny amount of meat but I really cannot stomach to eat their full-size filet without becoming ill afterwards from all of the rich butter and so forth...so the small one is ideal for me. Also tried the carpaccio which my friend ordered. Loved it! So awesome. I was really impressed in general with their food offerings at the Yelp event here last year on the patio. Drinks were great too, and lately I tried something with creme de cacao white chocolate vodka, whipping cream, and fudge. It was fantastic! Both Dominique and Yens are great bartenders. They make really tasty drinks. Yens is fun to talk to, haha. I would definitely go back but only for the happy hr prices.

Ruth Chris is one of my favorite places to dine but why the hell they take the lobster off the menu I don't know. I was hot when I walked in and seen a fish tank instead of the Lobster tank. I have to give you 3 stars for that chris. Like really who has steak and seafood and no Lobster. Have to give you points on the Flamming Rockerfella Oyster. Great job.

Ok, you're going back to 4 stars RC. Last night we went back for another special occasion and this time no beads. Bummer. That was SUCH a great idea, why in the world did you discontinue it?! Our waiter was just "meh" this time too. Between his naturally quiet voice and the unnatural noisy crowd that night, we could not hear a THING. Apparently he couldn't hear us either because my "Bone in" filet came out as just a regular filet. The extra special service we have come to expect at this location just wasn't there at all. How disappointing. The food was still delicious, and I wish I had another order of that sweet potato casserole for today!

There is a lot to be said for a place with reliably good food. When I want a good steak, not just ah-good, but yes this is exactly what I need hunk of medium rare heaven I head to a short list of steakhouses. Ruths Chris is on my short list. A cool crisp salad, some perfectly cooked asparagus and a hunk of filet. And now I'm drooling.

Dined here Jan. 31st, Atmosphere is great, and food is awesome! Our server was "Mike S." and he was incredibly knowledgeable on ALL food selections on the menu. The asparagus was cooked perfect and complemented my salmon perfectly. My wife had the filet and of course I had some of hers and that was the best I have ever had. It is a bit pricey, that is the reason I gave it only 4 stars. I WILL come here again, probably to celebrate a special occasion.

My hubby took me here for our anniversary dinner and it was sooo incredibly good. Everything about the place was top notch in my book. As soon as we walked through the doors and gave our name we were greeted with a "Happy Anniversary!". Hubby had told the person while making the reservation and everyone there seem to know. The hostess, the waitress, bus boys and wine server all wished us a happy celebration throughout the evening! Anyway, we had started with drinks and appetizers over at Bailey's Chocolate Bar so we jumped right into dinner. Both of us got steaks and split a few sides. All wonderful. Actually, it was the best steak I believe I've ever had! They had a separate gluten free menu outlining what I could have off the menu and what changes needed to happen. This makes me so happy, being able to just pick something off a menu instead of making the server run back and forth asking the kitchen questions. The wine they suggested was paired perfectly. The dessert wonderful. This place is pricey but I'm happy to say I felt it was worth the money.

2nd time there; snobby staff; same both times. Clientele is on the arrogant side too; but expected and accepted for the type of place it is. Had the salmon chips and ravioli. On a scale of 1 to 10, personally I'd give each a 2. Salmon chip app was way too salty, and just sort of weird, just plain not good, also the chips the salmon rested upon were a bit limp. The ravioli tasted like it was filled with cream cheese (ho hum); no zip!; and no crispiness to the dough. Plates were a little dirty too. Ordinarily I wouldn't have noticed or cared; but when the place has a snob vibe off the charts, and a tally of $64 (with tip) for 2 drinks each and 2 apps split, I expect perfection. It is in a truly lovely neighborhood/area of town! But will never go back.

I had dinner here a few weeks ago with my mother and my 10 year old daughter. The service was good and so was the food. I am very disappointed in one of the managers by the name of Stacy. When I asked to have our food packaged to take away with us, I was given the chicken from my daughter's food and mine. We actually had enough sides for another meal but they didn't package those. I explained I wanted everything on the plates. When I called and spoke with Stacy the next day, because my daughter was upset because she was eating that as dinner, Stacy assured me she would take care of me and was putting something in the mail for me. I never received anything and I called a week ago and have never received a return call. Not good customer service to have me return to this location. There are too many steakhouses in this city to have to deal with staff that don't care about their customers satisfaction.

We really love to meet friends here for happy hour. It is especially nice to be welcomed by a server who already knows what we want to drink. The ahi tuna appetizer is my favorite, but many people LOVE the lobster voodoo. It must be so good. I cannot have it because of an allergy. Parking at the happy hour time of day is easy but of course there is also valet when needed.

Recently I wrote a review on Ruth's Chris. I gave 4 stars despite being snubbed of a coat check. I felt really insulted, but I still could not go any lower, as I truly am a huge fan of this company, and have been for years. When I came home I found myself stewing about this. I went to the web site where they have a place for comments. I shared my experience and expressed my disappointment with the inconsistency of serving guests. The next night, I recieved an email from the manager. He apologized and asked me to respond back with a time to talk with me on the phone. I wrote back in further detail of the whole experience. I told him I have been, and still am, a true fan of Ruth's Chris. However, when you command top prices across the menu, that does not leave any room for error. I also stated that after my last visit, I wrote comments to the company giving a glowing report. I told him I was not looking for any freebies, just awareness in treating guests consistently. The following night, I got an email from the General manager. He thanked me for my passion of Ruth's Chris and the feedback to use as a tool to learn/teach. Whoa, this guy is good- he knows how to stroke the feathers. It was really a nice sincere note. He said he would be sending me something if my address was correct from the original email. I knew I did not send my address, as I left the personal info blank. I did not respond back because I stated I was not looking for any compensation. What comes in today's mail? A thank you note and a gift card. I guess if you want to find someone you can and he did so pretty quickly. I think more restaurants should take their cue from feedback as Ruth's Chris did. They did not get defensive. I do believe they will look into improving on this issue. Anyway, I felt people should know how classy they responded!!

Clearly one of the best Steak House's in the area. I have been here multiple times for work dinners and the Steak's are always amazing. I'm usually a bigger fan of larger portions of meat , but because the butter is so rich and filling I always choose the smallest filet . Very pricey if someone else isn't paying , but worth it .

It's Ruth's chris...need I say more? The new R-Bar concept is really cool and it's an awesome place to hang out. Really great happy hour from 4-6pm except for fridays, when the happy hour lasts from 4pm-close. $5 house wines, and $5 vodka drinks and martinis in any flavor you can imagine. $16 filet oscar, $5 sliders, and much much more. They have 1/2 price bottles of wine on wine down wednesday as well as a $7 burger. Yes I said $7 burger, and it's not your average run of the mill burger either. On mondays there is a preset menu for $30...yes I said $30. It's more than worth the money. The signature drinks are amazing and the white and red sangrias are my personal favorites. The Pyrat rum and Wildberry lemonade as yummy too. Items to try: Tuna poke, filet oscar, cowboy ribeye, sweet potatoe casserole, creamed spinach.crab cakes, Barbecue shrimp, porterhouse for 2, gumbo, and chopped salad. People to see: I suggest you sit in the R-Bar area or on the patio, and see Marcia, Tabi, or Sarah. If you should choose to sit in the dining room you should see Amy, Malyssa, Mike, or Marian.

We went here for our anniversary dinner on Tuesday and I can't wait to go again. I don't know how I'll eat a steak elsewhere again. We ordered an appetizer of the crab stuffed mushrooms and they were really good. Then for our main course I had the fillet, medium rare, mashed potatoes, and the asparagus. We shared the potatoes and the asparagus because they are two big for one person to eat alone. The steak was cooked perfectly and was so tender and juicy. The mashed potatoes were also great. I tried hollondaise sauce for the first time and I didn't like it so I ate the asparagus plain but they were also good. For desert we had a sample plate of the cheesecake and the berries and creme. Both were absolutely delicous. My only complaint about that would be the chocolate cup thing the berries and creme come in, I wish would have been milk chocolate instead of dark. And then we got the carrot cake to go. I swear it was a 1/4 of the cake, took us two nights to finish and it was delicous. I would definately go again!!

I love the R Bar here. The appetizers and drinks are amazingly good. I recommend it for happy hours in Clayton.

Used to be decent for a business dinner. Not any more. Embarassingly bad service, people with small kids running around, food very average. Disappointing. Bar even looks ragged.

Had the Prime Rib dinner offered on Sundays only! Great place to bring the family. Lots of celebrations going on around our table. Will come back for happy hour specials during the week.

The service here is great, the food is good but the prices are a little bit out of this world. Let's start with the service. Our waitress constantly came to our table to check how we were doing and always made sure that our drinks were full etc. which was very nice. Even the bus boy was attentive, and if there was a problem he would alert the waitress immediately (he was actually a pretty funny guy too). The drinks were good. I got a couple of beers, and my fiancé got a couple of glasses of wine. Nothing to special about what we ordered except the prices. The food here is good, not excellent. The salads were great. I got some kind of spinach and bacon salad which was excellent, everyone should try it if you like bacon. Our side of lyonnaise were good, but honestly not worth the price at all, really nothing special. My steak was excellent, I ordered the Porterhouse. Very juicy and well cooked, although I don't think it needs to butter on top but that's just me. For dessert, we got the carrot cake, which is a massive slice of carrot cake. I like it a lot, mostly because I love frosting and it had a ton of it. Everything about this place is good, but it is hard to justify the meal for the price. The food is very good, and even great at parts, but with drinks you can easily spend $80-100 per person and I am not sure it is worth that.

Delicious. Came here for Clayton Restaurant Week a couple of months back with the gf. Service was spot-on: drinks continuously being refilled, being checked up on, but not obtrusively so. I love Ruth's Chris bread... I don't know what they put in it... but it's like bread crack. Excellent stuff, I believe the two of us knocked off two whole baskets of the bread before our meal. The meal itself was great as well. The filet mignon was perfectly cooked and well seasoned and I thoroughly enjoyed the creamed spinach. Definitely would recommend coming back here, especially during Restaurant week.

I thought I wasn't hungry. And then I ate it all. With a side of mashed potatoes. I loved the way they cooked my steak. If I order steaks at normal restaurants, I'll usually order a medium-well, but at nice steakhouses, I'll order my steaks medium. This medium was perfect. Not too raw, with plenty of flavor and juiciness. The steak was also perfectly seasoned. I actually asked for a small Worcestershire sauce on the side but thought the steak tasted better without it. Side of mashed potatoes and sauteed spinach was alright. Nothing too special. I would have liked to try the creamed spinach, though. I think I'm ruined for life for every steak-eating experience at a great restaurant because I'll compare it to my experience at Peter Luger's. Buth Ruth's Chris does a fine steak. Mmm.

Ok, this is a simple man's review of a high end, steakhouse chain. Was it probably the best steak I've ever had in a restaurant? Yes. Perfectly seasoned and cooked to temp. It was 16oz of delicious. Was it overpriced? Maybe.... A birthday dinner for 4 with one drink each and no apps ran about $350. It was good but not that good. For me, Ruth Chris is the type of place that I'm glad I tried and got to experience but probably wouldn't go again. If you've got the money to blow (or the corporate credit card) by all means, enjoy yourself. The sides were delicious too but nothing too unique. Creamed spinach, mashed potatoes, butternut squash and I can't remember the fourth one. The sides are easily big enough to share if you're willing. We did so that all could sample all. The service? It was good, the hostesses were great. Our server was surprisingly obnoxious. The type of guy that tries to joke around so much you'd expect him to be covered in flair and rockin it at TGIF. He definitely didn't match the setting. Nice guy, but didn't seem like a match. Was it overhyped? I think so. You don't get props just for making a really good steak. If that is gonna be your thing then do it and do it well (which they do). But to get props you have gotta do something original and I don't think they do. I'm know there are plenty of other places to get good steaks and find something more unique to to go along with it via sides and experience.

I took my hubby here for his birthday and it was a very very nice evening. He had the porterhouse and I had the sirloin. Beef good - beef friend (but don't tell that to my doctor lol) Everything about the evening was wonderful. Service was great, meal was great (but expensive,he's worth it though) bread was hot and good, the side of sauteed mushrooms was wonderful.....awww heck! If you are going to go out for a special occasion or trying to impress someone - here you go! Maybe it's just me, but this is a very nice establishment so why were people dressed from really nice all the way down to shorts and tees??? C'mon people, if you can put up the cash for the meal at least do biz casual. This ain't Bonanza. p.s. That blood orange martini was so good I wanted to lick the glass :)

I have been to both this location and the downtown location several times. This is definitely one of my favorite steakhouses in St. Louis. The downtown location is nice, but the Clayton location seems a bit more upscale. While everything is a la carte, the portions are large. My wife and I usually split a salad, each get a steak, split one side, which ends up being plenty of food. If we have enough room left we'll split a dessert, which are massive as well. My wife likes the carrot cake, which is big enough to feed a family of four. I've seen people get several sides along with their meal, but most people end up taking those home for lunch or dinner the next day, which isn't a bad thing by any means. Overall, the flavor and the portions of food you get at Ruth's Chris are tough to beat. I would highly recommend this place to all of the steak lovers who haven't experienced Ruth's before.

Ruth Chris has the best Steaks in town. Love the side dishes, and selection. Service is always great. Only reason for 4 stars is because it is very pricey.

This was first time at Ruth's Chris. I am an avid steak lover but I usually avoid chain restaurants. Although I am a fan of Capital Grille or Delfriscos, Ruth Chris was a sore disappointment. I was out with a group of six guys. I usually order NY strip medium rare. Sadly, four out of the six steaks ordered were over cooked. It didn't help that the overcooked steaks came out on a hot plate which further cooked the meat. Maybe it was the overcooked meat but the quality of the meat was by far the poorest quality meat I've had for a $40+ steak. It tasted like USDA choice steak you would buy at Schnucks. You go to nice steak restaurants for aged steaks that are beyond USDA prime quality, and that's certainly not what we got at this chain steakhouse.

I am consistently a fan of Ruth's Chris where ever I go, and the Clayton location is really no exception. The staff is well orchestrated, the valet is prompt, and especially in this location, parking is really not a problem. That being said, moving on to the important stuff...the food. I went with a medium-rare filet...and it was superb. Sides included creamed spinach (my favorite) and mashed potatoes (nothing really spectacular). Dessert was cheesecake with berries, and I kid you not, the cheesecake was about as big as my head. The boyfriend had to finish it off...the next day. I was a bit sad that this location did not have a decked out washroom like some of the other locations do. But I also did not notice the bar being extra smoky - we did go on a weekday though.

Finally getting around to writing my review of one of the most fabulous "Meat Eating" evenings I have had in a long time. A friend and I decided to have a "Steak Night" out. We chose Ruth's Chris because of a "Social Media" blast they had online for a $20.00 off coupon for their $40.00 Ribeye steak. The evening was perfect. Our waiter was exceptional, food was fabulous and the Ribeye Steak was exploding with flavor. I mean you can smell it on the plate for several minutes after it had arrived. Talk about mouth watering! I can now say that the Ribeye Steak had much more flavor than Ruth's traditional Filet. Great job guys and thank you!

Ate here again. Sat at the bar for dinner just because it's relaxed and Zac provides great service. Was disappointed to find out he's moving out of the area. He will be missed but I wish him well. The food was great. Chopped salad: Always consistent and well made. Great flavor. Ribeye steak: Cooked slightly more than medium rare, but the flavor was still all it was supposed to be. Got the mushrooms with it and they were fantastic.

One of the top two chain steakhouses, in my opinion. I like that they have a variety of options. I don't like that sides are always extra. I like that they cook their meat true to temp (which should be a given for a good steak place). I don't like that the rare steak has a cool center. (It was a little toooo cool, but not as cool as this place was - yelp.com/biz/heartland-b… ) I extra like the Clayton Restaurant Week deal. Just the right amount of steak so that it doesn't feel like I ate a (delicious) brick. I extra dislike that the the temperature at this location is always off (hot or cold!)

This is one of the best restaurant chains I know, and after coming here a few times I know that the Clayton location definitely lives up to the name. The food was great, my steak was expertly cooked and remained hot throughout the meal thanks to the extremely hot plates. My favorite salad is the chop salad, and we tried the onion rings, which were delicious (I had never tried them). The sweet potato casserole is one of the best side dishes I have ever had, and the creamed spinach was pretty good too. The service has always been great and the atmosphere at this location is very nice. Even though its a chain, Ruth's Chris can definitely provide a nice dinner.

Despite being a chain, Ruth's Chris is one of my favorite places for a nice steak dinner because it's consistently good. We recently went to the Clayton location for the first time during Clayton Restaurant Week. The food was great, the chocolate dessert was amazing and my wine selection (Riesling) was particularly good. The only complaints: the bar area was incredibly smokey -- I know STL isn't smoke-free so that's why, but it was kind of horrible.

Never before had I ever sent back a restaurant meal...that is, until dining at RC in Clayton. They served me a piece of fish that they later admitted was probably frozen and not properly thawed (not fresh) and also admitted that it should have never been served. It had the consistency of an automobile tire. They essentially made it up to me by not charging me for it. They offered me another entree, but I was so nauseated from what they served me that I could not eat anything else. After my party for 15 was squeezed into a tiny room and rang up a bill for $1500+, that was quite generous of them. ;) Not only will I never dine at this RC again, I think I have lost a taste for the restaurant chain altogether. I think the quality and selection of food is much greater at Morton's, and for this type of restaurant, I will stick with Morton's in the future.

On par with morton's and fleming's for taste. The server did not introduce himself yet took care of us well, showing genuine care for his job. The filet was spectacular but was slightly rarer than I had requested. Mashed potatoes were great. Nice view of the St. Louis Arch as well. Nice ambience. Justly priced.

The restaurant was super about squeezing us in at the last minute after several of us had just flown in from LA. The martini they prepared for me was almost perfect. My rib-eye steak was closer to medium than the medium rare I'd ordered, but the flavor was still good. We walked over from the hotel where we were staying as this seemed a rather nice and safe location and the selection of restaurants in the neighborhood had me wishing we were staying a few more nights. They were great about calling a cab to get us back to the hotel when we finished and found it was pouring rain and thunder and lightening abounded.

I had the joy of experiencing the perfect Cajun/blackened steak. It was perhaps the BEST steak I have eaten. Juicy and perfectly seasoned. To top it off, the cheesecake was excellent too. I will go back again and again! Ruth Chris knows how to do steak!

This may be a chain, but it's one of the best places to get a steak in StL. It may be pricey, but they are running a promotion right now that everyone should take advantage of - for $40 or $50 (depending on your menu selection), you can have a 3-course meal. They offer this every night, so there's no reason not to visit. Steaks are cooked to perfection and arrive at your table still sizzling. The lobster was THE BEST lobster I have ever had. It was cooked perfectly, and the drawn butter is melted at your table. For special occasions, they will offer free dessert so if you don't take advantage of the special promotion, be sure to order something special at the end of the meal if you have space! Service is impeccable and this ultimately makes this a great dining experience. Great food alone can't sustain a restaurant - our waiter Christopher was extremely polite and provided us great service.

Heard this would be an expensive place to eat, but it would be worth it. So I took my hubby here for his birthday.Fist impressions were good. Atmosphere was great. However, I have to say the food was good as well as the service, but it wasn't great and the price was staggering! Could have had a much better meal elsewhere for half the price. Won't be going back.

Absolutely amazing! I came here with my parents & brother for dinner. I made a reservation for 9:15 pm, but got there about half an hour early. No problemo! The staff were very very nice. The level of customer service was really great! The menu had a wide selection of choices. The waitress made sure that the crab cakes had no real butter in it. The crab cakes were good, but the raspberry sorbet was awesome! Not too sweet, just perfect. I nearly ate the entire thing! My dad, who loves steak, raved about his steak. The ambience was warm & inviting. It matched the personality of a high class steakhouse. I am pleased that they serve their sides family style. It reduces waste, in terms of food, dishes & energy. The amount of money that was spent for the dinner for the four of us was totally worth it!

If I'm in the mood for a good steak I go to Ruth's Chris. When I go I typically sit at the bar and the bartenders are very freindly and chatty. I like the wedge salad with blue cheese dressing.. the lettuce is always cold and crisp. This time I ordered the fried calamari appetizer (which I typically don't do fried calamari) but it wasn't overbreaded and served with roasted red peppers. I also had the strip steak which was cooked perfectly rare. My only complaint is how smokey the bar can get.

I always enjoy my visits to RCS. The service is superb from the maitre'd to the servers. The food is great and so is the wine - just what a steakhouse is supposed to be like. One thing that takes a bit of getting used to is the fact that when you sit at one of the large booths, you face the center of the restaurant towards the rest of the dining area. It can be a bit daunting at first because you do not want others to think you are looking at them (and there is nothing to do but that!) but everyone is so busy with their food and company that it is not a big deal.

My wife and I visited Ruths Chris Steakhouse on our anniversary in June. The main reason we went there is I had a gift card that I'd received for Christmas or my birthday last year, can't remember which. Anyway, I'll begin my saying that Ruths has a pretty good "deal" with its fixed price menu options which are priced at either $38 or $48, depending on the entrees chosen. There are three entree choices (small filet, "mixed grill" or salmon, I think) and the fixed price includes choice of salad (three choices there as well), entree, beverage (coffee, tea or glass of house wine), side dish (mashed potatoes, sauteed mushrooms or creamed spinach (yuck)) and desert. We chose the filets, I had mashed potatoes and my wife sauteed mushrooms. The meat was done perfectly and the sides were very good as far as sides go. Dessert was some sort of creamy something or other in a dark chocolate "cut." The food quality was good and the service was very good as well. Surroundings were a bit cheesy (too gaudy for my tastes). While we didn't have drinks, my guess is that wine or alcoholic beverages would really trip the tab pretty high since entrees, sides, etc. are all ala carte and grossly overpriced. Of course we knew prices were grossly high but we had the gift card so it wasn't so bad. I had been a another Ruths Chris in another city and the food and service was good there as well, but the prices, grossly inflated. I guess I don't understand what makes a place think very high prices make dining better. Steak is steak and it doesn't take much "know how" prepare and cook it well. I am only giving Ruths three stars because of the gross prices and gaudy decor. Everything was fine and the staff is very accomodating. It's not the kind of place you return to time and time again, after all, who needs to pay more for steak than it's really worth?

This was my second time coming to Ruth's Chris. My family and I came 3 years ago on Christmas Eve and had a great experience. The service was top notch, the food was amazing, the timing was great, and the atmosphere was absolutely perfect. This left my parents with an everlasting great impression. SO when we had family come in town - without a doubt we took them to Ruth Chris' for the same great quality food and experience. I originally made an online reservation for 7:15. We were running late so I called at 6:50 to have the reservation pushed back to 7:30 or 7:45. This phone call set the precedence for the rest of the evening and I should have known just to cancel my reservation. A young girl picks up the phone and I tell her that we were running behind and if we could move our reservation back. She answers me back in a sharp tone "This reservation is for Leslie?" "No ma'am I am running late can we move our reservation to 7:30 OR 7:45?" "Yeah, okay we will see you then." "Excuse me ma'am was it for 7:30 or 7:45?" The girl answers "45 - bye" and hangs up the phone. Okay? I'm sorry I bothered to let you know that we were running behind? I'm sorry that I bothered you to do your job? I can't believe that she HUNG UP the PHONE on a customer!! Half of our party arrived first and I later arrived with my parents. Our servers were attentive and were always present. Since we had 7 people in our party - we got the recommendation to get the Appetizer Sampler and Gumbo. Which made sense since we had so many people with us. It was absolutely delicious! We looked on the menu and didn't see that it was listed so we asked to make sure that we understood the waiter. For our entrees we ordered 2 ribeyes, 1 cowboy ribeye, and a porterhouse all to be cooked at MEDIUM RARE. Given their large portions this was more than enough for 7 people to split and share. Also, we ordered 2 sides since they came la carte, which was not a problem. When our entrees came everyone was floored by how large the portions were! The porterhouse was cooked perfectly and so was the cowboy ribeye. It was the perfect red center. As for the two other ribeyes we order - it was a disaster. My ribeye was not only NOT medium rare it was MEDIUM WELL?? My dad's steak that was ordered to medium rare came out WELL DONE - it wasn't even pink in the middle. Given that they were 40+ dollar steaks we decided to send them back. The manager came over to say that he was sorry that it happened and said that it would take a few minutes for a new one to be cooked. Did I mention that we came in on a Monday evening? It wasn't a weekend in which I understand if they were slammed. I think there was a collection of maybe 15 tables (and I am being generous). It took 20minutes for our medium rare steaks to come back to us and we were already full from snacking on our other steaks and side dishes. Yes the steaks did come back at a perfect medium rare and we were pleased. The manager said sorry a million times and we understood that mistakes happen. After our meal - we asked to have our steaks and sides to be wrapped up since we already full by the time that the new steaks came out. The waiter whispered to my father if we would like to see the dessert menu but we said that we were too full. Then our bill came. This is when I threw in the towel. Maybe my expectations were too high but I ASSUMED that something would be comped. Our steaks were awfully cooked and we had to wait a ridiculous amount of time for a Monday evening to get new steaks. Nothing was comped. Not even a free dessert - it's no wonder this chain is going down the tubes. Then we looked closely at our bill - our waiter "lied" to us about the sampler platter. It was a not a sampler platter nor was it was even a special. He just white lied us into purchasing 3 appetizers. Okay yes it was good but if we knew that we had a choice as to what we could pick... why would we have to get the supposed sampler? Instead he charged us for all 3 appetizers at full price as if we had ordered them separately. UGH! At least be honest! It wouldn't be like we would be unwilling to pay for good food. Our bill was over $400. It felt like they assumed we would be skimping on the details and did I mention that we gave a nice tip? The experience doesn't end there. When we got home with our leftovers - we saw that our waiter had thrown away our sides that we had barely touched! Wow that was when I had it. I rarely ever write reviews back but this experience was absolutely unacceptable from the hostess to the wait staff all the way back to the kitchen. I will not return to RC in the future and I will make sure that my friends and family know the experience and treatment that we received. It is a shame that such a great chain has gone down the shitter. I would AVOID AVOID AVOID this place! STL has other GREAT local steakhouses and RC is possibly one the worst experiences I ever got.

While this might be a chain, it is an excellent one. I stay at the Ritz Carlton in Clayton regularly. Whenever I am in St. Louis I make it a point to make it to this steakhouse. Make sure to try the "well marbled" Kobe fillet. A well marbled fillet sounds like an oxymoron, but this piece of beef is as flavorful as a ribeye, but as tender as a fillet. This is absolutely a wonderful piece of meat. The ambiance in the bar is always enjoyable. This is a place where I can have a nice steak, a Manhattan, sit at the bar and feel comfortable.

Delicious. Steaks are always perfectly cooked to our specifications. We love their Classics Menu. It changes some, but the last time we went, I was able to get a glass of wine, salad, filet, mashed potatoes and a dessert for $39.95. Pretty decent deal (considering where we were dining). Nice cozy booths and a classy atmosphere. We often go early in the evening, before Cards and Blues games, and usually have the place almost to ourselves. Makes it fun. The service is always attentive, to the point of swapping out a white napkin for a black one, if you are wearing dark clothes.

I am going to try and be unbiased here, but it's going to be difficult since quite frankly, this is the least vegetarian friendly restaurant in the world. I am pretty sure there is not one thing on the menu a vegetarian can eat and I usually end up being a wierdo ordering a baked potato and a side salad for a meal. All that aside, back in my carnivorous days, this was the best steak in the city. I still remember the way the filet practically melted in my mouth. They cook their steaks to perfection and they are worth every dime. I have to say, the main draw to this place for me these days is the martini. They make an excellent vodka martini here, easily one of the best in the city. So sure it's a chain, but I never feel bad going to a chain if its a chain that does things well. This happens to be a chain that does their food and drinks VERY well. If only I still ate meat, or if they had SOME vegetarian options...I would probably bump this to five stars.

All I can say is: I cannot wait until I can go back here! I had an absolutely huge, decadent meal here, and though I could barely walk out of the place it was completely worth it. Though they are known for their steak, I got the stuffed chicken. It was filled with the most amazing, rich cheese, mushrooms, onions and peppers. It was a giant portion and I couldn't begin to finish it all, but every bite was better than the last. The sides, which you order separately, were equally yummy. Their mashed potatoes were thick, buttery and filled with garlic goodness. Along with shrimp and stuffed mushroom appetizers, salad and cheesecake for dessert, this meal was fit for kings. Their mojitos were also good and an excellent beginning (and end!) to our meal. Let's just say I'm glad I wasn't the one footing the bill. It think it was more than my rent...man, am I spoiled!

I must admit we spent a considerable amount of time trying to find another place to go... that said, the Tuna was up there with the best i have ever had, and they went out of their way to verify the menu items I wanted to know if were gluten free. Can't say I'll be back, not sure next time I will be in STL, however I definitely would return.

Last Sunday was Mom's day, and since the fanciest food my mom ever wants is from IHOP, I decided to treat her like the awesome human being that she is. During this rough economy, Ruth's has a $35 Prix Fixe special from 4pm to 6pm daily, and all day on Sundays. I ordered lobster bisque, the petit filet (7 oz of glorious aged beef), mashed taters, and raspberry sorbet, plus a glass of the house white wine. Mom got the mixed grill a smaller filet, grilled chicken stuffed with cheese and mushrooms, and a lovely crab cake), creamed spinach, and a chocolate mousse. This is one hell of a deal, considering a petite filet off the regular menu is $32. Service wasn't up to the usual Ruth's standard, but I forgive them as it was a fucking madhouse for the holiday. Now I need another excuse to go back, but will someone else please pay this time?

If you want to feel like you're being served dinner by your younger sibling's high school buddies, come here. For being a purportedly "upscale" kind of establishment, it was surprising to have such unpolished service. I never expect to have my butt kissed by my servers or anything, but it was just a little bit ... weird. It was almost as if there were a party going on in the backroom, and they drew straws to see which dude would have to come out to tend to the customers. I love steak. Everyone in my party loves steak. We all pretty much agreed that it was good but not great. We paid for great and got overcooked beef that had been boiled in butter, onion soup that the French would never claim as their own, overpriced broccoli and not enough bread for the four of us. Oh yeah... we each ordered a different glass of wine from their "By the Glass" suggestions, just so we could have a mini tasting party. They all were really really disappointing. Nothing was skunky, but the selections lacked body, fruitiness, and clarity and tasted kind of like they had been strained over a combination of dirt and used coffee grounds. The company was great that evening, but we could have had that if we had never left home and hadn't forked out hundreds of dollars for dinner.

After being offered a complimentary dinner at Ruth's Chris Steak House in Clayton, I was ecstatic. I looked forward to this all week and I really looked forward to treating my girlfriend to a nice dinner. Unfortunately, they offered nothing to what I would consider a dinner. They offered 2 free drinks to my girlfriend and I. Great. Except it took 10 minutes to get the bartenders attention at a half empty bar. For this complimentary "dinner" they offered a chafing dish with bacon, a few dessert items, and about 45 minutes after we arrived, they brought out what I could only describe as leftover meat in between 2 pieces of bread. On top of it all, the "host" of this whole thing was eating and drinking THE WHOLE TIME! Being in the hospitality industry for much of my life, I would never expect a host, manager, or even the owner to be eating food prepared for guests and drinking a glass of wine in front of everyone. I'm not asking for free-bees from them but when you offer a complimentary dinner. OFFER DINNER, NOT HAPPY HOUR! Poor service and just OK food. Would rather go to Morton's, Citizen Kane's, Mike Shannon's, almost anywhere other Ruth's Chris.

I'm used to going to the Beverly Hills (Beverly Blvd.) location so even though it's a chain, I thought there would be a difference in the service. I was VERY wrong. The servers were prompt and gave good suggestions. The only thing I didn't really care for was the booth we had. It was raised and faced all of the tables on the floor, I felt like I was on display, especially with the amount of food we were ordering. It was the only booth left and we did not want to wait. We had the Barbecued Shrimp, Porterhouse for Two, Fresh Lobster, and I can't remember what else but let's just say those dishes were the ones I remembered the most because they were so good. I definitely would suggest going to this location.

Usually, I try not to review chains that often, but Ruth's Chris is one of the more notable steak house chains that I like. For this location, I've mostly gone for the private party rooms, which are kinda cramped. Ruth Chris is pretty consistent across locations, and I usually go for surf and turf or ribeye.

This is a lunchtime review. I was impressed how far money went on lunch items. I had the Kobe beef burger and it is now the best burger I've had in STL. The service was a bit on the slow side but more than made up for it with quality.
