Had no expectations. Went there and sat outside. The option to sit inside and watch the game was available,as well. Service was exceptional. The wine was good. We had the grille tuna sandwich. Very good. Liked the idea of the option to have fries, potato, salad or veggies as a side. DOGS were welcomed outside! We will return.

The decor is more of a ski lodge, cozy environment than a country club. The staff are friendly and it's a happening place for happy hour. But, the food leaves a lot to be desired. I've been there twice now and both times I've not felt like the food meets the standard for bar food. For example, the mini burgers were charred and dry. The toasted ravioli was bland. The fish and chips was not fried well and the pieces of fish were rather small for an entree portion. Overall, I'd say that it's fine to stop in for a beer, but move on when it's time to eat.

This is a fine dive on the top section of Lamp and Lantern Village. Got a burger (as did my dining partner), and it was cooked well and quite tasty. The fries are A-OK. It's clean and rather dark. Not too many patrons the night we were there. Quite inexpensive!

Food-Terrible. Atmosphere-OK. Service-Good. If you're hungry for a pound of salt on your fries and artichoke dip and some old/smelly fish come here. If you're thirsty, the beer is cold and the TV's are a plenty.

I looove this place. For the type of place it is, it's totally perfect. The best time to go here is on a cold night (and we have been here once a week since it started getting cold outside). It's a small bar/grill with lots of wood & brick, giving everything a very warm and cozy feel. They have a large fireplace with plenty of fireside tables around it. The customers are mostly regulars and everyone has always been super nice & friendly, despite being located in the middle of West County a-hole central. We always just get burgers and fries, which are nothing spectacular but done right. The burgers are always juicy and cooked perfectly, and the fries are hot and fresh, crispy on the outside and with just the right amount of salt. I did stray from my usual burger once and got a salmon club, which was delicious, although the ciabatta was a little tough for the delicate fish. However, it was a special and not a regular menu item. They have a decent selection on tap too, not just the standard Bud & Miller. Although they do offer the usual suspects, you can also grab a Stella, Schlafly, Guiness or Fat Tire. And the domestics are on Happy Hour until 7pm, so you can grab one or two or three for 2 bucks a pop, along with a half price appetizer. I'm giving The Country Club 5 stars not because you'll get the best food you've ever had, but because their food is really good, the beer is really cold, and it always makes me feel better to go there after a rough day. P.S. Did I mention that they have a really cute outdoor seating area with a chiminea? And they fly the firewood in from Colorado because it smells so nice when it burns.

Well, I can say that the average 3 star review of The Country Club is spot on. I had been avoiding it for awhile, but recently had lunch here. There's good and bad to be said. I do like the decor - it's dark, with lots of wood paneling, and faux leather walls. It is clean, and the wait staff is super friendly & attentive. They have Boulevard Wheat on tap ($3.50 pints on Fridays). It is, however, fairly expensive for a bar & grill. $10+ hamburgers, club sandwiches, etc. I would expect to pay that at, oh, I don't know, Annie Gunn's maybe, but Country Club? I ordered the Smoked Choice Aged Sirloin sandwich (aka $11.50 French Dip) with a side of cole slaw. The sandwich was served on crusty bread and the meat was flavorful, as was the au jus. The slaw, on the other hand was rather unappealing - it was essentially just mayo with some shredded white cabbage mixed in. Visually, it was sparse and the flavor matched. I prefer slaw with some depth & color. I will say that it was terrific ON the french dip - food crisis averted. My buddy's turkey club on Croissant was 'pretty good', but comes with American cheese, which I think is odd (again, for a $10 sandwich). The french fries were a medium cut & sort of steak fryesque. They had very little flavor, despite the fact that they were allegedly seasoned. Wasn't a fan. I'll probably be back to try a burger, but not for awhile. Country Club fix achieved.

We have eaten here for years. Always good food. Don't know what the change is but we were served the worst burger ever. Small, dry, tasteless, cold and overcooked.

Love it. Just moved into the area and are thrilled it is so close to us. Employees are great and incredibly friendly, without being phony. Genuine neighborhood joint. We plan to become fixtures.

Tried to get into Rich and Charlie's at 6 on a Saturday night....wasn't happening. We decided to try this place out. The place was quite empty when we first got there, but quickly filled to capacity. The four of us opted to get a burger for dinner. About an hour later we finally got our food. I am not sure if it was our waitresses fault or the kitchen. I do know our waitress was really inexperienced, or just not quite with it. Getting another drink or quite frankly getting her attention for anything was a pain. My burger was good, but nothing to write home about.

Long time lurker, first time reviewer, but I couldn't let our horrible experience here go unnoted. We had heard good things about The Country Club - nothing fancy, but solid bar-and-grill fare. Sounded perfect for a leisurely Monday evening with the family. Let me start with the positives: Sat outside, nice enough patio, good weather. Server was friendly and did a reasonably good job. Beer was cold. But the food. Oh, the awful, awful food. I ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich and fries. What came out was: a plate of dry, overcooked fries ... a bun smaller than a McDonalds hamburger bun (quite possibly from Schnucks) that was stale and tasteless ... and the two smallest chicken strips I've seen. They were more like oversized nuggets. Each was about 1/3 of an inch thick and about 2 inches long. I am not making this up. They appeared to have been dipped in Franks Red Hot sauce. And to top it off, the entire sandwich was lukewarm at best. It got worse from there. Both of our sons had grilled cheese and those same awful fries. Both sandwiches were burned on one side, and somehow they managed to burn the cheese itself in the middle (we assume it was open-faced under a broiler to cook). The bread tasted like it was covered in salt - which actually helped. Yuck. My wife's sandwich (some kind of fish) came on the same pathetic bun as my sandwich, and based on her review of "I would never eat here again" after a few bites, I'll assume her review would match mine. Bottom line: One of the worst meals I've ever had. There is an excellent grill-type establishment called Yellowstone Cafe in the same shopping center. Go there instead.

Well, my first experience was actually pretty good. My dad, who I was with, said it first: It is a dive bar. But really, I didn't think about it because they had a decent selection on tap. I mean most dive bars only have Budweiser products, but at least this place was respectful of the snooty beer drinkers living in the area with their selection of Schlafly and Fat Tire (and even Guinness!) products on tap. And for a dive bar, it was very clean. The food was alright. I tried the burger my dad had and it was pretty good! For a bar burger I was impressed. My potato skins, however, didn't taste the best. They almost tasted like they were frozen at one time... Hmm. Our waitress was very nice and kept checking on us regularly. And for a Saturday night, it wasn't very busy. Granted, it was only about 7:30 pm, but if there wasn't a party held by the owner for a parting employee, I honestly would think my father and I would have been the only people in that place (or at least not enjoying the beautiful weather on the patio)! I'd say if you're in the area and just want a nice beer and hang out with your friends in the far West County, I'd say go here and then enjoy some frozen custard at Eugene's across the street!

Your neighborhood bar at its best, The Country Club is located in a quiet shopping center at the intersection of Clayton Rd. and Hwy. 141. A well kept patio and plenty of outdoor seating is a welcome atmosphere for your pleasant summer evening. Don't forget to inspect the indoors where you'll enjoy an antique, saloon style bar, wood cabin decor and over 15 beers on tap. Happy hour specials and "upscale" signature drinks are also to be noted. A featured menu that far surpasses average bar food including perfectly breaded crab cakes and the original "Country Club Chips were among my favorite in the appetizer category. The large selection of sandwiches and entree's make a dinner choice quite difficult. I opted for the buffalo chicken sandwich served with a generous side of fries. Don't forget to ask about the nightly dinner specials and my favorite server Sonia!
