Oh man. I love El maguey. Specifically the one in ofallon. And I always get the same thing: fajita mix nachos, the half order. It comes with chips, queso, beef, chicken, shrimp, onions, bell peppers, and tomatoes. This location just doesn't make it very tasty. I dont know why, or how you can really mess that up, but the last three times I have been here, it has been old, and cold tasting. The service has been very lacking, the soda always tastes flat... Just a very disappointing experience. Gotta find a new Mexican place out this way.

Outstanding everything! Food, service, price, cleanliness. I travel a lot and have had authentic Mexican food all over the country. This is definitely one of the best I've had. It's too bad a few judgmental and overly picky people have to try and ruin the reputation of a great restaurant. I highly suggest this place!

Went on Cinco de Mayo and they didn't have their liquor license. Luckily it was lunch time so it didn't matter. Unfortunately they thought no one was going to show up since they couldn't serve alcohol and severely under staffed. Only 3 servers for the WHOLE restaurant!!! It was a hot mess to say the least, but our food came to our table correctly and the staff was very friendly.

My favorite Mexican restaurant in the St. Louis area! Chips are always great, and I highly recommend the chicken taco salad. It's delicious This certain location is the newest El Maguey location in St. Louis (from what I believe) and the interior is nice. Interior- 4.5/5 Food- 5/5 Service- 4/5 OVERALL- 5/5

Nothing too special here but the food was good. Typical Americanized stuff. You could order by number and probably get the same #3 here as you do anywhere else. Nice looking place and appears clean - always a plus. I had their signature dish which was a trio of shrimp enchiladas with cheese sauce over them and rice, guacamole & sour creme on the side. They presented a good enough looking plate that I snapped a picture to include with my review. The shrimp were nicely seasoned if a bit salty. The cheese sauce was your standard queso blanco. The rice had a good flavor and nice slivers of onion to punch it up a bit. All in all, it was good - not great - but good. The dessert flan was also tasty if similar to flan I've had in any number of Mexican restaurants where you can order by number without looking at the menu. Again, good but nothing spectacular. I suppose the best things that I can say about this restaurant are that it is clean, equivalent to most Mexican restaurants in the US and convenient to my house.

Very friendly staff with great service. Had the fajita burrito and it came out loaded hot and delicious! Chips and salsa were good and the salsa had a nice heat to it! The beans and rice were good as well. This would if been a 3 star but I seen some weird rating which I didn't get and it dropped their overall review which I thought was unfair. Place is nice and friendly with good food. Give it a go and leave a fair review.

Two words -STAY AWAY! Server had an attitude as if he was doing us a big favor. My wife asked him a couple of questions and he became more irritated as each second passed. Food arrived and was gross. I ordered a combination plate that was served lukewarm and each item had the same greasy grainy tasteless beef filling. Food is an insult to Mexican cuisine. Food was worse than taco bell quality.

Always solid. Friendly servers. Super kid friendly. Chips and salsa are super fresh. Margaritas are great. Personally, I think much better than than any other Mexican in the valley. Very fresh light shrimp options. Reasonable prices. It's a family favorite.

The food is decent but the management has much to be desired. They will do whatever the can to avoid accepting a coupon. And don't seem to care about their customers. We had a $5 off with the purchase of two entrees. We ordered two entrees, a coke, and a beer that was on special. When it came time to pay our bill, we were told we could not use the coupon because the beer was a special. I asked if they would have honored the coupon if my husband had ordered water instead of beer and was told "yeah, sure". We dined with another couple. They had a buy one get one entree coupon. It too was not honored. The reason was because one of the meals (the less expensive one) was on special. Okay.... It's buy one, get one. Who cares if it is on special? Before he swiped my card I said that I was very disappointed how this was being handled and that neither couple would be returning. He just shrugged his shoulders. So it's safe to say, with all of the other options for Mexican in the Valley there is no need to take your business to this location.

Found this on Yelp when staying at Jellystone Park. Very nice staff & clean restaurant. Would give staff a 4 and the food a 3. Very good pitcher of margaritas. I had chicken fajitas which were slightly better than average. Husband had Rio Grande burrito. He said he'd rate it a 4. Kids had kids meals of chicken nuggets and cheese quesadilla both served with french fries. They were pretty typical and kids liked them. Server was very attentive and kid friendly. We would go back.

Excellent queso for dipping, a great chicken burrito, and superb service. I couldn't have asked for more for my first time at this new location. I ordered my staple burrito and it had peppers in it, rice, cheese, chicken, and beans; slightly greasy too, in a good way. Not as fabulous as Iggy's, but I was most certainly satisfied. I came out of here as stuffed as my burrito. Yum!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
