My co-workers recommended this place last year when I was new to the area. Well, we came here for lunch and it was pretty good. I got the lunch special with some sushi and miso soup. Overall, a pretty good deal and service was good/fast. Just recently, I was going to go with my fiancé but Saturday night was by reservation. Unfortunately, we were on the way home and hungry so we passed on it to pick up take-out from Little Chopstix.

I've been here before and service was good, but today was another story. We Sat down for hibachi and I checked in immediately. I took a long time to look at the drink menu, just because I couldn't make up my mind. Once I was done, we noticed it's been while since anyone has come to get our drink order. I looked at my yelp app check in time. 11 mins!! We've been sitting here, no contact since we were seated. After about 20 mins the waitress finally approached us. We were the only two at the table. After we put our drink order and dinner order in, it all went pretty fast. Well be a while before I return again.

We used to go to this place in San Diego called Shogun. It's a chain of hibachi restaurants like Benihana but lower level. I thought it was ok. My son loved going there so we went there often. I was expecting a similar experience here but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by this place. They were so fast, very interactive an Johnny on the Spot with everything! Will definitely be coming back here. Food was excellent too. Much better than Shogun even though it was literally the exact same menu.

We decided to try Osaka for our anniversary dinner. We chose to try the hibachi. I had the chicken and shrimp, he had the shrimp and scallops plus the fried rice. Our chef was entertaining and put on a good enough show. The food was ok. I would not say outstanding but ok. The side sauces were good I preferred the white. I would actually give the restaurant a solid two and a half stars mainly based on the food but that wasn't an option. Two seemed to low. Three is really generous. You're welcome Osaka. Fail #1 no chopsticks! I have never eaten at a Japanese steakhouse with a fork, but I guess there is a first time for everything. Epic Fail #2 No Saki bombs? Hmmm. Perhaps they cannot serve these correctly since they don't have chopsticks? Should really have been fail #1 but I already typed that paragraph and what can I say, I am a little lazy sometimes. The meal felt very rushed. It was clear they were wanting to push through as many people as possible. Our soup and salad came out at the same time. The chef also appeared at this time. Kinda hard to try watch the little show while trying to wolf down my first two courses while simultaneously being served my meal. I have a problem multi-tasking. I also eat s l o w l y. I wish I could have tried to catch some of the flying food the chef was slinging about as part of the show but I feared I would choke on the salad I was still trying to eat. Immediately after the chef left, our waiter showed up with the bill. We were not even close to being done eating. Never offered dessert or another glass of wine. All told we were literally in and out in about 25 minutes. Someone forgot to tell the waiter that the circle of life in a restaurant is to sell. Sell another drink, sell some dessert, sell anything you can. The more you sell the higher the bill = the higher your tip. DUH! I envision a fun relaxing meal when I go to hibachi and this was just not it. So if you are looking for fast food, or you are very short on time go here. If you want a relaxing fun romantic anniversary dinner this is not it. Overall, I was pretty disappointed. We headed to the Tamarack Tap Room to have another drink since none was offered at Osaka.

Love this location! Better than the one in Woodbury. It's a place to eat sushi without the pretentious atmosphere like the woodbury location has.

Went back & tried this place again on New Years Day---one word describes everything! SLOW!! Service was SLOW Business was also SLOW & it seemed like the staff was even slower. Food is decent but service has to improve or I just don't think this place is going to survive.

We came with a large group and shared many items. Great happy hour sushi deals. The Spicy Girl roll is a new favorite. Our server was very attentive and friendly.

Visited the new osaka in Woodbury lakes for sushi. The sushi was great! It was a early Sunday dinner so the place was quite but quickly picked up.

Not a bad little sushi place for Woodbury. Service was okay, not great, not horrible. Ordered just rolls from the bar: Dragon, Spicy Tuna, Spicy Salmon and some nigiri. Fish itself was pretty good. The problem was the rice. Whatever rice they're using here is not regular sushi rice, no sticky and falls apart instantly. Lipstick on my tea cup. Honestly, it's not bad, and I'm sure it'll get better, but I wasn't blown away.

I've gotten hibachi here twice, and one time my girlfriend ordered sushi. Overall, as far as hibachi goes, it's what you'd expect. It was delicious and the waiters are fun. The California rolls my girlfriend ordered tasted fine. No complaints!

Fun place for a group dinner. OK for kids who know how to behave in a restaurant.

We always have great food and service here. The hibachi is what we do. The kids love the show and the fresh food. It is always cooked to perfection and the freshness is unmatched!

Our Hibachi chef was superb and the food was palatable. The scallops are HUGE sea scallops (which are far less expensive and less tasty than bay scallops) and the shrimp are 4 or five medium sized shrimp. Our waitress was disinterested to the point of being rude and also wouldn't accept our 15% off coupon. We won't be back to Woodbury location as a direct result of the dreadful waitress. We can get Hibachi at Akita as well, so we will continue to go there instead.

Great place. Our waiter was super enthusiastic and friendly. His service was very good. Sushi was generous and fresh; sashimi was big slabs of cold, clean tasting tuna, salmon, etc. Rolls were big, flavorful and fresh. My favorite was what I call "the kraken". A whole, huge squid, grilled perfectly and served with a light sauce. At $6.95- what a bargain! With a bowl of rice, it could be a meal in itself. I walked to the back of the restaurant, into the hibachi/teppanyaki area. It's huge and the tables are well-spaced. They also had a private room with 2 grills that looked to seat about 20. Very cozy, would be great for a party.

Service was horrible despite it being valentine's day and super busy. I made reservations for hibachi but wasn't seated until thirty minutes later. The waitress wasn't too pleasant and was rushing my kids and i already after ten minutes of having the food cooked...she gave us boxes to go. We were treated differently from the rest of the customers. I did not tip well and they complained about it but i told them i was not happy with the service so they said fine. The only reason i went there was because the Maplewood location was all booked. I love that location alot better cause the service is way better. I dont care how super busy you are, do better next time.

Would not recommend. Wife and I ate here this evening and became quite sick (diarrhea). Called the restaurant and spoke to the manager Helen who recommended we go to the doctor. She did not seem too concerned. I asked if we could receive compensation for the meals only (not the gratuity or drinks) and she said that would NOT be possible. She did state that if I brought in a paid bill from a doctor stating my illness was directly related to the meal I had at their restaurant this evening, she could see if there was something she could do. Yes.....she actually said this. Not sure this is the right way to do business, but because of this incident and the poor response from the manager Helen, I will not be back.

My wife and I stopped in for some sushi during Happy Hour today. Had a couple of nice glasses of wine ($3), as well as California and Shrimp Tempura rolls. The rolls were excellent--flavors were wonderful, presentation was very nice. Ambience is very nice as well. Server was very attentive and polite. We'll definitely be back!

Stopped in here for for a dinner with a friends b-day. Service was great for us and we were having a great time. We ordered up the chef choice sushi meal and a very large amount of sushi/sashimi started showing up. Everything was excellent and well cut/made. We had a great time without any issues.

Opted for a private table instead of sitting at the hibachi grill. Went on a coupon that offered a dinner of filet mignon, shrimp and scallops for 2 for $43. Expected a very small portion of each. Received a huge portion of what tasted like chuck steak cubes and 2 small shrimp each. No scallops . Not much flavor. Also received lots of noodles, rice and overcooked veggies. We did tell a waitress how disappointed we were when she brought the bill so we received a $15 gift card, 15% off and a free dessert. The waitresses were very apologetic and we appreciated their hard work in trying to make it right. Otherwise I would have given it 1 star based on the food.

Very nice and the best of its kind out East of the Twin Cities. Great new decor and design plus consistently good food and sushi. Retry darn enjoyable and they do one of the better shows of this nature.

Went to the Woodbury location on 7/30 for my birthday! We explained to the waitress what we were looking for - crunchy, lots of flavor, and she came through with 3 different roll selections. It was amazing! The happy hour is excellent, good prices and some of the rolls we liked are only on the happy hour menu! She heard it was my birthday and I even got little "cake sushi rolls" with a candle! The place is beautiful to look at as well! We were VERY satisfied! We didn't order any sashimi or single fish items, but I've had them at the Stillwater location, and I'm sure they are delicious as well! We will go back!

Oh, how I have searched high and low for a nearby replacement to Benihana's which is so inconveniently located nowhere near me. Yesterday, I believe I found a very suitable replacement. Osaka is, in fact, a near carbon-copy of Benihana with some stark differences. First off, I am never, and I mean never, able to get a hibachi style show for just two people at Benihana's. I always find myself tucked in between people i don't even want to share an elevator ride with, much less an hour of my time. Secondly, the enthusiasm that the chefs at Osaka has is notable. I found myself clapping for the goings on at not only my table, but others tables as well. The chefs here play with fire and do it well and don't have that look of "this is the 90th time today I've done this" in their actions. Plus, they're actually Japanese! This is unlike Benihana as well since they only have one Japanese guy there and the rest are conspicuously named Julio or Juan. Really breaks the immersion. The artwork on the wall as well as the general decor is very tastefully done, which is surprising for Woodbury. Stonework and Japanese influence surround you, but without being overbearing. Finally, the food. I can only describe it as Benihana's with more flavor. This is a good thing in most respects, but not all. The clear broth and mushroom soup appetizer has much more flavor. So did the salad as I can taste the dressing and not the frost the accumulates on it. The hibachi is relatively the same, only you get noodles in teriyaki here as well which was another nice surprise. The hallowed shrimp sauce, or "yum yum" sauce however, leaves something to be desired as you can taste more mayonnaise in it and it seems to be a little less creamy. I will definitely be back as the service, too was outstanding and it sure beats having to drive an hour to sit with people you don't know just to get a hibachi experience.

Here the food was decent. However, the Japanese fried rice is still not prepared like Kyoto. I am not sure why it is that difficult to find the right fried rice...considering it is a dish that one would think very simple to prepared. I also ordered sushi rolls, BMW rolls, beef.

We checked out this restaurant on a Thursday evening at 5:45pm based on the one yelp review. Originally wanted to go to Seven in Minneapolis but we were in Woodbury. It was a little bit hard to find as it was located in a new shopping plaza off Radio and the GPS didn't quite know where it was. It was a very nice and trendy looking restaurant decorated with expresso colors, copper colors, mother-of-pearl lamps, and stone. We loved it. Bathroom was beautiful and clean. Food. We ordered some sushi rolls and a seafood salad off the happy hour menu. We also ordered the 10 piece sushi dinner which ended up bing 16 pieces (6 California rolls). Food was delicious; fish was fresh; portions were just right; server was very nice. We ended up overstuffed and happy. Great place for a date or business meal. They also have an area for grilling (ganache) that was very spacious. Lunch (11-2:30) and happy Hour (5-6:30) specials were great with prices ranging from $3-$10. Regular menu items are more but well worth it with the quality in food, ambience, and quantity. We've been eating out all week and this is definitely one we will return to.

We ordered takeout sushi and it was the best we have had in MN so far. The rice was tasty and not gummy, the fish was very fresh and they even had whole grilled squid! The prices were comparable with other sushi places we have been to in the area. I took a quick glance at the dining room and it looked very nice.

Went to Osaka September 28, had a waitress who could not get the plum wine right, kept bringing me vodka, then the cook was very distant and did not know how to cook. He literally over cooked the rice and vegetables, I asked for my steak med rare and got medium, So we did not to leave a tip for the bad service and poorly cooked food, I have been to other Osaka's in the area, and they were OK, Just OK. . I would not go back to this one, very poor. .

We've been to the Stillwater one many times & always had great sushi; so we were pretty excited when we saw this one opening in Woodbury Lakes. To sum it up: beautifully renovated place, large hibachi area in the back, outdoor seating for when we finally get some decent weather...but most importantly, fabulous sushi! The presentation was creative, fish was fresh & flavors & combinations were delicious! We ordered the tuna sashimi, Spicy Tuna, Black Dragon, Naked Girl (yep...that got our kiddo giggling) & some udon noodles with beef. Not one thing disappointed! And if you ask: why only 4 stars? The only negative of this place was the service...unfortunately there was a little bit of a language barrier/we can't hear what you're saying/you don't have to be shy. Even though very nice & pleasant, it is a factor that played into my -1 rating. But in all, I would strongly recommend & I hope they do great! Will definitely visit again!
