Although the place is usually busy and has no parking , it is worth it! Pricey but worth it. This is my go to place and is always on groupon which is a bonus !

Decent lunch sandwiches: we had the Italian and Gyro to go today. Quick and friendly service. Prices are bit too high.

I came from Chicago to work up in this area, and I have never had a beef sandwich as awesome as their gladiator sandwich, and their corned beef and cabbage for st Patricks day was amazing. Great food and people I can't wait to eat there again.

Great spot. I grew up right down Warner on Ivy St. I have been coming here since it was 1/4 the size. It always seems to be the perfect atmosphere no matter what night you come on. The food is terrific, although I get the same thing every time I am in, The gladiator sub is to die for.

Best Mac and cheese ever. Chicken, bacon... Cheeeeeese!!! I haven't ever ordered anything else because I love it so much. Usually do carry out orders, but the one time i was there the service was friendly.

By far the best French Dip sandwich I've ever had. It's like your grandmas cooked all day roast beef, pulled apart and put on an awesome roll with cheese. The bun was buttered and toasted on the flat top. Worth every penny. You can taste the care that went into that roast beef. Good job m

One recent evening, we made this place our dining destination. We arrived about 45 minutes before they were to close. No problem. We sat in booth and a server came by immediately and gave us menus. We didn't really need menus. We just asked if we could get a "hot dago sandwich". She said "sure". We also ordered a large Caesar salad to share and glasses of wine. Our platter of salad arrived and we found it to be nothing remarkable, with a rather bland tasting "over-dressing". But that hot dago sandwich we split... omg! How delicious and satisfying! It was just as fantastic eating it at a booth in the restaurant as it was eating it in the front seat of the car, pulled over alongside the road.

I am somewhat on the fence with Roma - if it were my neighborhood deli/restaurant/take-out/grab a quick bite and pint place, I'd probably be a bit more vocal about my support, but overall it's a quaint place in a nice little stretch of restaurants. Roma has a fairly large offering of sandwiches, wood-fired pizzas, salads and entrees (the latter only in the evenings). For the most part I have no qualms about the menu items I have tried, having really enjoyed a couple of their pizzas and bistecca salad. And for the most part, their sandwiches hit the spot as well, save for an almost-too-sloppy-to-eat prime rib sandwich. Ambiance is fairly minimalist, as it's located in a small strip mall in Willernie. Upon walking in you'll find some tables and booths off to the right, a small bar directly in front of you that seems like somewhat of an afterthought and a deli to your left. Prices for some items are on the high side, but overall it's fairly reasonable. With friendly service and a comfortable neighborhood vibe, Roma certainly isn't a bad place to stop in if you're in the neighborhood.

My all time favorite resturaunt. The gorgonzola pizza makes me pour out tears of joy and the salads are mind blowing....anything you order here will blow your pants off. Just writing this dumb review now makes me want to go back.

It's always exciting when a family opens a restaurant that isn't part of some large restaurant chain, because generally it means they REALLY care about the quality of what they serve. That is certainly the case at the Roman Market. They have a rather extensive menu, given the smaller size of the place, so I've not tried anywhere near everything, but I really enjoy their Gyros and they've got some good pasta salads as well. The menus can be viewed online: Food menu: roman-market.com/files/R… Red Wine menu: roman-market.com/files/R… White Wine menu: roman-market.com/files/W… They also have a wood-fired brick oven for pizza, and a selection of various meats and cheeses you can purchase to cook with at home. If you find yourself in the area, it's worth stopping in, and probably worth a trip to the area on a lazy weekend day. The parking lot is fairly small, and shared with a couple other businesses in the building, but one could probably find a place to park on the street near by if needed. Price Range is dependent on what you order, but the average is probably somewhere in the $10-15/person range for an entree and a beverage. Obviously if you start guzzling vino the cost will go up, but for a nice meal, it's a reasonable price.

Had to use up my other Groupon I purchased. Went back a second time. Eh. Will probably never return. Food is bleh. Ordered a Reuben, must say that was delicious! Boy ordered the Chicago Beef. Terrible! The beef tasted like it had sat in a steam table, dried up - and they added a bunch of crap broth over it to "moisten" it up. I'm almost positive that's what they did too. I am not sure how people can think so highly of this place.

Great food, great price. It doesn't have a beer list as extensive as the Hanger room but it is cheaper and the food tastes better. I split a Rucola salad and my plate was huge! A perfectly poached egg on a mountain of bacon on a mountain of arugula with a smattering of tomato. The vinaigrette was mild and not overdone making this one of the tastiest salads I've had in a long time. I also shared a large Vesuvio pizza. While I was warned about how spicy it was, I figured it would be more of a medium as usually food in the midwest (unless at an asian joint) is a bit under spiced. I was right. The peppers provided just the perfect amount of kick but if you are carving something spicy (a tasty but need some milk sort of deal), this is not it....but then what are you doing eating in Willernie...you need to go to University Ave instead. If you want a respectable sized pizza loaded with quality meats and cheeses then this is your place. This pizza is easily split by two people (4 pieces each) or three light eaters. There is a market next door that looks good....some of their steaks were oxidizing a bit and didn't look as good but their pasta looked amazing. On weekends this place can get a bit crowded. On a Thursday night, it was busy but there were open tables. Service was decent and this place also seems kid friendly. Doesn't have the hangout ambiance of Donatellis but this is better restaurant quality food.

This place is awesome! For the size, the menu is fantastic. Given the limited selection at so many chain restaurants, you may have to take extra time just to consider all the options. The ingredients are fresh, and the food is delicious. I am a huge fan of the woodfire pizzas, which come in two sizes: 7" and 12". You can either choose one off the menu, or build your own from a list of 48 ingredients including the usual pizza-fare, or more exotic like pesto, alfredo sauce, truffle oil, shrimp, or gourmet greens. Very much a family friendly place as well - my favorite 5 year old tells me that the spaghetti is pretty tasty too!

I've eaten at Roma twice, and looking back at these experiences it's hard to believe how different they were. It was like that Hitchcock film "The Lady Vanishes" where I excitedly returned for a second visit and the entire place had mysteriously changed. I really want to believe that the real Roma was the one I saw on the first visit, but either way, there were some good and bad points on both visits. The location is a little out of the way, but it's a charming little section of the eastern suburbs. We (my girlfriend and I) went there at about 6:30 pm on a weekday and it was fairly busy. Most of the tables were occupied by groups in formal attire, but there were a number of casually dressed couples. Nice rustic Italian themed decor, a little tacky here and there but not the least bit distracting. They've got a bar with solid beer selections and a deli (that I've yet to check out) within the restaurant, but semi-separated. So the 6:30 weeknight experience was good. Both my girlfriend and I opted for a pasta dish. They came with a garden salad which was fine. My girlfriend got a tortellini dish with mixed greens and mushrooms over a truffle cream sauce. I stole some from her and it was delicious and not too heavy. Comfort Italian all the way, the only noticeable flaw was that the pasta was a bit overcooked. I opted for a totally standard Lasagna which I really enjoyed. We could have made it at home but I did enjoy it. Our waitress was very good as well. The second time, as I said, was totally different. I would speculate that much of this was due to us arriving about a half hour before they closed. Still, that's no excuse. We ordered a margherita pizza and the mussels. The pizza was excellent, yet flawed. The crust was great on the outside, undercooked on the inside - forgivable. The cheese was salty, tasty mozzarella but there was too much - forgivable. But it was served to us lukewarm - unforgivable. The waitress (our waitress was the only one there) was more interested in closing up than serving us even though we got there slightly more than a half hour before they closed. I don't know if the cook screwed up or the waitress screwed up, but somebody was the culprit and the pizza was the lesser crime when stacked up against the mussels. The mussels were actually cold. I've never been served cold mussels before, and we were the only ones there AND they were served to us pretty quickly after we ordered. They were neatly arranged around a marinara sauce that was also cold and seemed pretty similar to chunky Prego. We sent the mussels back, packed up the pizza, paid our bill and went home to heat up our za in the oven. The first experience was a solid four stars and the second only two stars, so I averaged it out to three stars. I guess I had my hopes up when I saw some of the ratings, as most of my favorite restaurants are Italian and I've yet to find a place within a 15 minute drive that satisfies my pasta urges. I was hoping for a Cosetta and I got a better, locally owned version of the Olive Garden. I'd say go with the pizza, which runs around 20 dollars but you can get an excellent specialty pizza. The ones I haven't tried looked delicious and I'd definitely go back for that. The pasta is a gamble, but whether or not you want to take that risk, I'd encourage you to check out the place because nobody should be giving their money to chains like the Olive Garden when they can get better food at locally own restaurants like this one.

Went for late lunch (around 3). Were waited on promptly and ordered promptly. 35 minutes later, our food arrived on the bar, waiting for the waitress, who was doing something on the cash register. 5 minutes later it arrived at our table, lukewarm. Hubby got the grilled walleye wrap, which was more like a giant pancake, it was so thick and big. (Where's the fish?) I had the Chicago beef sandwich, which was very tasty. The ciabatta was toasted, but cold. No refills on the iced tea and not asked if I'd like another glass of wine. There was a table of 4 guys of varying ages drinking beer and dropping the f bomb every other word, and rather loudly. I'm not adverse to f-bombing, but there's a time and a place. Come on people, it's a small place and there were 4 other tables of diners within spitting distance. There was a man named "Dave" sitting at the bar, who was an owner or manager and was sitting next to the f-bombers, whom he obviously knew. Do ya think he could have said something to them? Although our waitress was pleasant and did check back, the whole place needs to be tightened up--from the food prep to the waitstaff and yes, even the manager guy. Will NOT be returning and given the opportunity will tell others not to also.

Let's put it this way... I freaking love Roma. (I know it's actually called "Roman Market", but for some reason all of my friends and I call it Roma... I dig it.) It is my hangover cure, my comfort food cure, my "lets get some quality food" cure, and my craving cure. The Spinach Artichoke Dip with warm pita is sooo enticing. It's seriously dangerous. And the Gladiator sandwich?! Holy Hannah!!! I've taken friends here who can be very picky about their dining experience and have been blown away by this modest restaurant. There's nothing fancy about it, but all you know is that you don't want those flavors to ever leave your tastebuds. The portions of the hot sandwiches are great to mix and match and save for left overs. These bad boys are definitely sizable. The salads are wonderful, and the pizza's are delicious. I honestly don't think I've ever left Roma disappointed.

I love coming here on Tuesdays with my boyfriend before we go to Marcus theater to see a movie for $5. We've only just recently started this tradition but I'm a big fan. Roma is one of the few places I truly enjoy dining at in "downtown" Mahtomedi. It's a small restaurant and not the fanciest of atmospheres but the food is delicious and servers are friendly. It gets pretty lively around prime dinner time! Lots of families and couples. The Tuesday special is Double Pour all day on wines, tap beers, and mixed drinks. Basically 2 for ones! The wine and tap beer selections offer a great variety. So what could be bad about getting a double pour glass of wine to sip throughout your meal? Nothing of course. We started with the balsamic steak strip which was a crostini. The steak was tender and juicy, perfection. Their wood fired pizzas are delicious and they have two sizes available. We split the Bianco this past Tuesday. Creamy Alfredo sauce, asparagus, more cheese and savory chicken top a crispy, perfectly charred crust. Absolutely delicious and a great blend of flavors. The flatbread wraps and gyro are also amazing. Great Italian food, wonderful Tuesday special, and quick service!!

First of all, the service was really good when I went. I did not anticipate an outstanding plate of spaghetti, so I ordered a Gyro. It was pretty good. They also have some italian style wines that I got. It's a pretty nice atmosphere and not very expensive. I will be back hopefully.
