Hacienda Mexican Restaurant

This is the best Mexican restaurant in all of St Cloud, hands down. No matter how busy they are, the food comes out fast and hot. Wide variety of menu options, something for everyone. Two people can eat for right around $20, but you'd think you're eating a much more expensive meal. Immense value for your money. Also they bring a pitcher of water to the table with the chips and salsa. I can't say enough good things about this restaurant.
Staff was very slow & kept forgetting what we'd asked for. Took about 6 asks to get a refill on chips. Nachos looked like they'd been made in a microwave. It wasn't very busy when we were in, so I was disappointed by the poor service.
The Hacienda in Waite Park is a great new restaurant with a friendly staff and great food.

Cafe Renaissance

Reviews:
This place seems to either be grossly over-reviewed, or lambasted for not living up to expectations. Go into this place thinking an elevated version of Cheesecake Factory or Grand Lux: Everything is good, nothing is great, the decor is a little over-the-top and everything is just a little overpriced. And I never quite got past the fact that we were in a Slumberland parking lot. While visiting family last week, we settled on Cafe Renaissance after a recommendation. After reading the mixed, though mostly positive reviews, we made a reservation and gave it a go. Apparently, reservations are highly recommended, but you wouldn't have known it on Saturday July 5th ... not sure if that's normal or not, but we were one of 3 tables while we were visiting. They may have seated a 4th shortly before we left - I can't recall. The wine list had some surprises in some higher end bottles I wouldn't have expected, but overall I was left wanting for better wines. Black Swan, Kenwood and other cheap, young reds dominated the menu at about $50 a bottle. Layer Cake turned out to be the best value, which is too common to be excited about. On to the food. The House Soup was very tasty, but we all agreed it seemed a little salty. I love Osso Bucco, and being that it's not often I find restaurants with this on the menu, I immediately went for that. Again, it was good, but it wasn't great. There was just something ... off ... about the dish. I'm not sure if it was the risotto, or the vegetable choices accompanying. It was just not great. The lamb was prepared perfectly, so I can't fault the quality of the meat. We added dessert mostly out of celebration of the holiday weekend. I had Baklava and my dad had a Triple Chocolate "custard". You can see where this is going. It was dessert. Good ... but not great. Overall, it was a nice dining experience. That said, the fact this is found "right here in Saint Cloud" isn't reason enough to elevate the ratings above comparable restaurants in the Twin Cities. If I lived in the area and wanted an upscale dining experience, I'd rather drive an hour to the city or even consider one of the MANY better restaurants in the Brainerd area.
This place is hit or miss. Sometimes they have really good food and sometimes they mess it up. Service is always good but they need to get their food quality consistent
This is definitely the most fancy of fine dining in St Cloud. GIGANTIC menu, very hard to choose because it all sounds so good! I've been here twice, and will probably continue to go back at least once a year for my anniversary with my husband. Perfect place for a romantic date or special occasion. Prices are high but rightfully so, as the fare is about as fancy as it comes & worth it cuz it is delicious! I had both the crab cakes times I was there, so good! My husband had some sort of fish that was AMAZING. I had pasta, fabulous. i doubt there is anything on the menu that is bad.

Meat, meat, and more meat. Great service and fun environment.
I really like their Sunday Buffett. Great choices and the omelet to order is a nice options.
Famous Dave's is the best place in town to get barbecue. All the servers are friendly and make you feel special when you are there. The barbecue sauces are great and there is sure to be a kind that everyone likes. There are mild sweet sauces and spicy hot ones. All great slathered on some meat.

Fiesta Taco

This place offers genuine, fantastic tacos! In my opinion these tacos could compete with the kinds you would find in little hole-in-the-wall taco shops Southern California (where I grew up), the Southwest, etc: in corn tortillas, with onion, cilantro, and choice of meat (including carne asada, carnitas, al pastor, pollo, lengua, buche). You cannot get a more authentic taco in Central Minnesota. They have plenty of other great food also and are willing to cook to your tastes, e.g. making a California burrito even though it is not on the menu. They even offer menudo on the weekends, but I say order some of these a la carte tacos first, just to experience the quality of their food.

I love this cute little bar!!! This place is very small but can be very fun. The last time I was here was for the last Vikings game where we lost the NFC championship. :( such a bummer!!! But what I really appreciated about this place was that we got there at like 5 and the game started at 5:30. The waitress was nice enough to let us know that there was great food & drink specials that would start at 5:30 if we waited a few minutes. THANK YOU!! So many places have specials and happy hours and then they act like they are secrets they dont really want you to know about. I'm a big happy hour goer so thats one of my worst pet peeves. Also, they were giving out a free beer for every touchdown. The bartender was there at our table IMMEDIATELY after every one and promptly went to every table and we got our beers super fast!! We went to another bar that had this special as well and you practically had to BEG to get your free beer. So this was a pleasant and well appreciated change of pace!! This place has great customer service! And because we were so pleased with the great deals we got, we ended up spending quite a bit and got shots etc. that we prob wouldnt have otherwise. :) We will be back again for sure next football season!!!

Anton’s Restaurant

Reviews:
We came here in May with a large group of family for lunch on a Friday. They were a little busy but not what I would call swamped. Our St. Cloud family remarked that there was nowhere decent to eat in town (i think they're wrong) but that we could go to Anton's because the food is OK and the kids would enjoy feeding the ducks or something like that. (It's just so nice when you go to visit someone and they are so excited to see your kids that they keep them entertained for you! And you get 5 seconds to relax and eat something!) We had a large group and it took a while just to get seated - there seemed to be a lot of confusion over where they wanted to put us. They ran us up and down the stairs a couple of times before finally settling on a spot downstairs. Also the service was pretty slow. The food was pretty good though. I was asking the server about the salmon, was it farmed or wild, and she said she didn't know about the salmon specifically but that all of their meats are organically raised which was impressive. The menu had a lot to pick from which was also nice. The food was above average and the waitress brought us a couple plates of cookies to make up for the slow service. The atmosphere here is nice - great woodsy setting but very stereotypical Minnesota decor - a little dated. I wish I could give them 3.5 stars because I feel like they deserve more than three but with the slooooow service we got, just can't bring myself to give them four. But I would totally go back next time we find ourselves in St. Cloud.
Neat atmosphere (it's in a log cabin!), kind staff, and great food. The Place and the People: You drive over a small bridge to get into Anton's parking lot - kinda cool. The restaurant is in a log cabin and is quite sizey. The atmosphere is open and relaxed - you can hang out at the bar or sit at your table for a few hours and they'll take great care of you. Our waitress did a fantastic job handling a slightly rowdy group of 11. The Food: Pretty good. The popover was the most exciting thing we all ate - a big, hollow ball of sweet bread that is fantastic. The serving sizes are fairly good, but I was nowhere close to finishing my meal - could not believe how stuffed I was! The rest of the food was good, but I didn't hear anyone gushing over how fantastic their food was.
My son turned us onto this place while he attended St Cloud University. The place has a cute western feel to it, lot's of interesting antiques on the walls, perched on the river. Will write more when I have more time...

I was happy when I heard there was more variety of restaurants in St. Cloud. My wife and I walked in and then we found out it was a Hibachi joint. It was our first time and it was fun. The food was decent, and for the price that included dinner entertainment I couldn't complain. The hibachi artists were fun to watch even though they seemed a little tired of the same jokes. Either way they were entertaining and we had great service and a good time. p.s. The ambience was probably the best I've seen in St. Cloud. The walls seemed as authentic as any American who hasn't been to Japan would know and the chairs in the waiting lounge are pretty awesome. p.s.s. This place would be great for groups
The Fuji steakhouse is an extraordinary place to eat. I would highly recommend the hibatchi. Great entertainment and great cuisine! Monday night has 99 cent beers, a real bonus.
Good place for sushi in St. Cloud. Food off menu is good. The service has always been very good when I have been here. Outstanding Japanese tap beer in big frosty mug! Have done Hibachi a couple of times, fun for the kids and if you have someone who hasn't seen it before. We usually order off the menu.

The new remodel is great. Prices are reasonable, the bringing a drink into the movie is a great perk but the biggest thing this feature adds? First date one-stop location. Think about it. You can have a cocktail, see a movie and then get a meal to discuss after. It's the biggest knock against movies on first dates-you don't get to talk to each other. By having a location to elongate the experience, it lowers the awkwardness. Some kinks have to be wrinkled out of this place, despite the fantastic restaurant combo. We bought tickets online and went to the ATM to get our printed tickets. After doing so, we simply walked into the movie! No one stopped us or checked our tickets. We eventually went back to the front to get our 3D glasses, but even then, I just brought my one ticket. If I was a college student or a film major, I'd watch films for free all the time. They need to get on that. Maybe more paying customers will lower the price of popcorn. Maybe.
Really nice! The remodel did a great job and it is clean and very updated. The seats were comfortable, the staff friendly, and we enjoyed ourselves. It's neat to have a restaurant added to the movie theatre. The prices are a little expensive ($7.50 for a matinee) but overall, we were pleased with our experiences.
I hate that this movie mega-plex ignores independent flicks in favor of showing exclusively mainstream blockbusters. But on the plus side most of the theaters have been remolded and have nice leather couch like seats or reclining stadium seats. And with the recent opening of Zaffiro's Pizzeria & Bar you can now order beer, wine, and pizza to bring in with you to the show. And let's be honest if you realize how much money you forked over for the tickets, 3-D upgrade, popcorn, and junior mints you are going to need at least one beer. TIP: They do have a $2 Tuesday Popcorn/Pop Special and select movies for $5 on Wednesdays and Thursdays if you sign up for their weekly email.
