I grew up less than a block away from Nelsons. This is a place that I am very familiar with. I have been eating here since 1992. I never miss an opportunity to grab a sandwich from Nelsons. Whether I want a nice juicy BBQ beef and cheese, or maybe a light turkey and sprouts, Nelsons does not disappoint. Sandwiches made fresh, great cookies, brownies, goo bars, etc... They have some really fun and unique, off-the-wall bottled sodas. I love to try a new beverage each time I go. This place has a sandwich for every taste. I love the mom and pop feel of this place. I have ordered several meat and cheese platters from Nelsons to feed large parties, and the quality of these items cannot be matched by the grocery stores. Nelsons is one of a kind.
First time in MN, not an hour off the airport and we stop here for lunch. Customer service was great, we had the St. Paul, Cheesemaker, and Barn burner. All were well made and excellent. Great local sandwich, personable, and fairly quick.
We went here on a conference lunch break. The food was great. I lowered it from five to four stars because of the atmosphere you are deffinetly in a deli and you know it. But again great food with fun customer service. Just a heads up when you are ordering you step up to the glass case and tell them what you want. They are helpful if you look lost.

So far best buffet I've been to. Fresh food and all item taste above the average buffet line. I will definitely come back. Btw the sushi are awesome and large selection.
Price : $13.12 a buffet. Sushi is good, food is good. Waiters are not too friendly. They expect a big tips. Good thing I understood Chinese. The waiters were rude talking in Chinese and thought I had no clue.
Let's be honest - part of what makes a great chinese buffet is quantity and selection. And there is no shortage of quantity and selection here. At all. With that said - I found most of the dishes to be the same quality as most chinese buffets. Which, to be honest, I kinda love. Chinese food is just something that isn't the same eaten like a regular meal. I find the decor pretty nice. One side of the restaurant has "bays" with like 4-6 booths each in them so it feels kind of private. My parents went for Sunday dinner and were seated in the "party" room and hated it - WAY too busy. Keep this in mind. The sushi was ok - I tend to stick to California roll types which most of this was. There were some interesting offerings like sushi with kiwi on top. I did not try the hibachi but if you're a fan of something like that It looked good. I will definitely be back! (This time not at lunch so I can feel free to stuff myself and not worry about falling asleep at my desk!)

Guang Zhou Chinese Restaurant

Reviews:
Some advice, make sure to come with an empty stomach to the lunch buffet. Though nothing fancy, GuangZhou serves some satisfying comfort food. Their buffet is unorthodox since they serve it to you at the table. This is good though as it ensures that all their servings are fresh from the kitchen. The family that seems to own and run the restaurant are very charming and friendly. The price per person for a Chinese buffet is pretty reasonable. Recommend you try their steak and onions as the steak is very tender and the onion is perfectly cooked with just the right amount of crispness. Their sugar donuts are to die for, especially when they make them fresh. Hot, bouncy, and light. It is simply to die for. Simply put GuangZhou is an indulgent experience.
Chose this place because I saw on their website they had lunch buffet and I was in the mood to chow down. This place wont win any awards for fancy decor and the dining area was pretty plain and reminded me of a high school cafeteria. Good thing I wasn't there to check out the hippest trends in restaurant design. I walked in and was seated and given a plate, I then looked around for the buffet line but couldn't find one. I was confused until a waitress came around with a bowl of fried rice asking me if I wanted some. Captain obvious chimed in my head and said they must bring stuff out to you instead of you going up to a buffet line. Make sure you look at whats on the "buffet" when you come in as it is posted next to the kitchen door. The food was very good and fresh, but being a buffet I'd rather pick and choose what and how much of something I want instead of saying yes or no every 3 minuets when they came around with something new.
There are a lot of Chinese restaurants around the Twin Cities. We live in NE Mpls and drive the 20 minutes or so to go to this one specifically. Why? Quality, freshness, and friendliness. OK, the restaurant ambience is REALLY lacking. Frankly, it's ugly, dated, situated next to a pawn shop, and looks just not great. But then the friendly services starts. We only go once a month or so but they know what we drink and bring it right over. Once you order, they bring over a couple free cream cheese wontons which are just delicious and delicate while you wait for your food. My SO is trapped into always ordering the Szechuan style kung pao chicken as it's so good and whenever we talk about going here, he knows exactly what he wants. I skip around the menu and have yet to hit a dud. We've done the buffet twice. Yes, it's reverse-buffet style so there are plusses and minuses. The plusses are that the food is fresh, right from the kitchen as opposed to drying out on a chafing dish. There are also plenty of choices. Also, if Kenny O below would have actually read the menu board upon entering the restaurant, he would have known EXACTLY what was being served that day. So if you're a vegetarian, you can skip the buffet and just order off of the menu. Negatives are t

A nice buffet with a good variety of food. Quick service and very friendly. A good place for a reasonably priced Chinese meal. Although it's not the most trendy spot around, it was clean and quiet.
Very dirty inside! Should have been my first clue and left...but I didn't. Waited a while for a seat. Had ice water to drink which was probably the best item I tried. I thought they have to at least get some soup and cheese wontons right? Wrong! Soup had old veggies in it and the hot and sour soup looked like a thick gravy or sauce. The cheese wonton tasted like the oil was rancid that it was fried in and the cream cheese had turned. Did not want to stay for anything else. Unfortunately they charged us full price for a cup of soup and ice water. But to tell you the truth I would have paid anything to get out of there as fast as I could! Yuck. Will not return...
Please ignore the previous negative reviews; I've been eating here for nearly ten years and have never had a problem, the family that owns the place is very friendly and helpful; the children that are there are quiet and well behaved. The food is pretty Americanized Chinese, but has good flavor and the quality is the same day in and day out. My favorite thing to order is the wonton soup. The fried rice has great flavor and the little pieces of steak are wonderful.

My experience is based on one recent Saturday at 10:30 A.M.. One couple in the restaurant when I arrived, ordered decafe coffee, told they had start a pot, came back fifteen minutes later with my coffee then asked about the rest of my order. Ordered corned beef hash on scrambled eggs, twenty minutes later I was served, corned beef steak cut up and gently cooked at least five times, tough bone in over cooked and Luke warmed, on top of over cooked scrambled eggs, had a brown crust on both sides. The basic vibe was one of depression, half done remodeling, and general gloom. The restaurant and bar are to compliment the pool, darts. They should not be inferior and bring down what could be a pleasant experience.
Went on a first date here, so much to do the bartenders are great even when I classlessly spill a beer.... Pool tables galore and volleyball in the back. Pools rather inexpensive and a plethora of beer Available. Don't miss this hidden gem
My experience/review is based upon my visit for their "street dance," a two-night parking lot concert. Charge cover, charge people to access what parking is left in the strip mall parking lot, charge plenty for 20-ounce cups of tap beer and call it a street dance. Great, except your Saturday night entertainment under the tent in your parking lot is not a party band, it's a Heart tribute band and L.A. Guns. I'm a fan of L.A. Guns, which is why I was there, but for what they were charging for a 75-minute set by L.A. Guns, I'm not interested in going back. I wasn't impressed by the inside of the joint, either.

We were very sorry to learn that Jimmy is no longer there. We did not see Connie but were told he is still there. We did see Tony but he never did come over to talk to us. It's just not the same~We had the Happy Hour food and it was great. We miss the former employees.
I recently wondered when I would encounter my first one star restaurant. Whoa boy... I've found it here. This place used to be known as Nicklows. I had dined here when it was still Nicklows, and had a great meal. This was years ago. We were passing through on our way home, and I remembered the cozy looking patio overlooking the water, so we decided to stop in. Where do I start with this place?... I used the restroom immediately, and noticed a dried booger smeared on the wall just above the urinal. Hindsight, run for the car. My wife and I sat on the patio, which seemed cozy at first, until you started noticing how unkept it was. The place was fairly empty, but near half the patio tables were full of dirty dishes. The patio rail had far too much bird poop on it for my taste. I understand that birds poop, and we chose to dine outdoors, but clean it up from time to time for God's sake, you are serving food here. There was this strange dirty concrete patio area on ground level, just below the dining patio (see pic). It was almost as if someone lived below the restaurant. It had plenty of cigarette butts thrown about. We ordered water to drink, my wife's with a lemon. My wife's water came with no lemon, and in a not so clean glass. We ordered our food. Our salads came first. They were just below average. The lettuce was moderately wilted and mildly brown on the edges. The chicken wings were over cooked, and the wings and dummies were not separated well; there were cracked and jagged bones in them. No extra napkins came with the wings, no plates to eat them on other than the serving dish. The wings were fairly spicy. I was out of water after 2 wings. The waitress passed by once or twice, but never noticed my empty glass. There was a long wait before our meals came. Salad plates, wing plate, and now both of our empty drink glasses sat at our table until the food came. When our food came, we had our empty water glasses slid right to the edge of the table, begging to be refilled. Our food was dropped off, and we were asked if we needed anything else. We asked for water and napkins. Our meals were finished before receiving either. Our entrees tasted okay. The plating was pretty boring. I am a firm believer in getting what you pay for, and this place did not back up their price with anything I saw. This place was horrible, terrible, awful, dirty, gross, and the food was overpriced even if we had received good service. I was tempted to go back into the bathroom for a picture of the booger, but had had enough at this point.
Where is Gordon Ramsay when you need him? This place obviously does. From the eyelash (with mascara) in my wife's salad to waiting for over 40 minutes for a simple order of 2 Gyro sandwiches, this place is nothing to rave about. This is midday Sunday at about 1/2 occupancy. Very disappointing. At the time of this posting we have been seated 45 minutes and still do not have our food. The eyelash in the salad was met with a indifferent response and a tepid bowl of bland chili. We are leaving without dining
