Don't go! Service was Ok but the food was not too good and the water was cold. My husband and I left before spending the second night.

It was a cute place but very awkward. The house itself needs some restoration. The cabin we stayed in was small & we agree with another reviewer that the bathroom was incredibly small for even a short person & when we attempted to take showers in the upstairs the smoke detector went off. The murder mystery was fun but didn't have a good flow to it, was poorly guided & had a raunchy theme to it. The older man who hosted the event was very inappropriate with his sexist, completely inappropriate comments & requests to the women in the group. Even stooping as low as to ask various women in the group multiple times to get up & bend over! I'm shocked he hasn't been sued yet. We met the grandson the next morning. Sweet old man & I wish the place the all the best because it has a ton of history but the dirty host of the murder mystery should go. Just glad we had a coupon for this event & didn't pay full price.

CONS: uber friggin' overpriced, bizarre loft which was basically a top bunk that you have to climb a ladder to get to (don't even try to carry your suitcase up there), must lean unsafely half way up the ladder to reach the air conditioner on the wall, weird giant tub on the loft/top bunk is 6 inches from the bed and is probably against building codes, creepy old B&W photos of nonsmiling people, other people's hair on the couch PROS: fresh baked muffins, probably ghosts (if you're into that sort of thing)

This B&B is a gem tucked away on stunning Green Lake. It is a family run inn which was built as a house in the late 1800s. The grandson of the original owner runs the B&B and will come out during your 4 course breakfast and will talk about the history of the castle. The food is probably the best you will get around the lake. They had fresh steak, fish, and pasta. There is also a complimentary 4:30 tea time, which my family enjoyed each day of our stay. The four course breakfast was also amazing. The rooms are all unique and make you feel like you are going back a few decades because of the gorgeous baths and the decor. My family comes back again and again because of the unique castle aspect and the great staff and food. A lot of people also rave about the Murder Mystery Dinner which you can get in a package deal! I suspect the two poor reviews come from people who have never been to a B&B and want an average hotel experience

We decided to stop in here and have dinner while we were staying at an area resort. I will admit that I was a little hesitant as we walked up to the inn. The yard was a little unkempt and the building, well, let's just call it an "aging beauty". But you know, once we got inside and saw the historical beauty of the place, we were pleased. The place is 120 years old so of course it's not going to look new and shiny. It was quite charming actually if you can appreciate that sort of thing. We had a great meal. My husband had the special which was ribeye steak, mashed potatoes (I had a bite - wow, so creamy and good) and green beans. I had the Chicken Alfredo. The waitress was very friendly and did a nice job.The view looking down on Green Lake was incredible! We'd go back. I think it's one of those things that you have to do if you're in Spicer!

I enjoyed the meal greatly. We came together as a school event. The murder mystery was fun and the mean was delish. We received raspberry mixed greens salad, and raspberry cheesecake that was superb. For the entree I needed a vegetarian dish. On short notice of a few hours they provided me with a excellent vegetable mushroom pasta with lite garlic sauce. I only wish we had had more time to try and solve the murder mystery. The view was also excellent if the lake.

The staff is very welcoming and hospitable. The outside appearance of the cabins and lodges look very charming. However, the positives end there. The room itself was not very clean. The wifi internet signal does not reach into the room's outside of the main inn. Lastly, the shower floor is covered in rust making it unusable and extremely disappointing for the high price that was charged. Check out the photos here on yelp before booking. Would not recommend.

I stayed at Spicer in the winter. The location was great, the staff was friendly, and the building and rooms definitely had charm (although they are not large). The price was very reasonable due to my use of their groupon deal. I would definitely consider staying here again.

I had an expired groupon...finally used it last night....since I had a wedding in the area. When I got there in the afternoon to grab the key, since I would be back late that night...I was a little bummed I chose to use it for a time when I would just be sleeping there.... I had chosen Ruth's room....I would definitely choose that room again!! Unknown at the time of booking, it has a tiny deck off the room, and I'm not sure if all rooms have bathrooms, but this one did as well!! I can't believe how quickly I fell asleep and how pleasantly I slept!! When I awoke this morning....the view....was BEAUTIFUL!! The lake......just beautiful!! I spent the morning on the deck until breakfast at 9......since it was 51 degrees....again....Perfect!! The shower was nice, a cast iron tub, great water pressure. The only room complaint I would have is....I'm a bigger gal and the toilet is just TUCKED in at the end of the tub so I could barely sit comfortably on the toilet....at least I didn't spend my visit there anyways!! :) Breakfast was fantastic!! You were given a glass of some sort of juice...maybe mango... A glass of pineapple and melon pieces, a muffin and then sausage links and some sort of maybe frenct toast, yogurt and fruit concoction....delicious!! The poor breakfast server really works her tail off!! Then in the middle of breakfast the grandson of the man that built the Inn in 1895 comes in to talk about the Inn and town history...interesting facts and pleasant fellow!! I really enjoyed my stay here and would definitely recommend it to others....others not looking for a typical hotel stay...as my room didn't have a tv nor could I pick up a wifi signal. Thank you Spicer Castle Inn!!

I used a groupon for my 2 night stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The castle had an amazing tea/happy hour with delicious snacks daily from 4-6. I stayed in Christopher's room which was a great space for two people. The stairs were very steep in our room, so I wouldn't suggest it for anyone that has a hard time with stairs. The castle let us use their canoe and the views on the dock were priceless. We did a murder mystery dinner which was rather awkward. You don't sit by the person you came with, and you all interact by asking each other about your character. The mystery dinner took close to 3 hours (11pm) and we were all very tired by the end. I would definitely go back, I would just skip the mystery dinner next time.

We stayed here as a last resort......and it lived up to our low expectations. To call the space small is an understatement - they must be exempt from any building codes. I'm short and my head hit the ceiling in the weird tub next to the bed, and my knees hit the wall in the bathroom. On top of all that, it was filthy. We didn't eat there and based on the cleanliness of our room, I'm glad.
