We had another chance to come here today and man its just always amazing! If you live in rochester and haven't tried this pizza in favor of any others....you're just plain crazy!

Chain pizza joint. We haven't been to the other locations, but they have a pretty detailed website. Unlike the other locations, this one doesn't have online ordering or a lunch buffet (that we're aware of). Nice, sit-down restaurant. Seems like a great place to bring a family with kids. I had fun drawing on the table with crayons. They have a pretty extensive menu with pizza, pastas, salads, and some things for the kids. They even have beer specials for the adults. The pizza was tasty. Nothing amazing, but a good pie. The crust was kinda bland and a tad on the thin side. Definitely not a thin, thick, pan, or New York style crust. They don't cut their pies through the center to create "slices." Instead, they cut their pizzas into "squares." Not a ton of cheese, right amount of sauce, decent toppings, and just about the right size for the price. The salad was a little bit wilted, but I thought it was a fair salad and I was really in the mood for something green with my pie (not just the green pepper topping). The beer on tap was nice, cold, and came in a clean glass. It's on the other side of town from us and we drove out here just to try a new place. A good place, but we don't plan on making the trip again. Although, I would like to try their take-out pasta. They had some nice specials, but we were too full from out meal to even think about trying anything else for the night. Overall, the place deserves about 3.5 stars. It doesn't have the "wow" factor to give it 4, so we rounded down to 3.

I feel bad giving this place 3 stars. Yes, it's a chain. Yes, it's different than your usual pizza joint. But when I walked in, I felt like I travelled back to a 90s pizza restaurant. Maybe that's what they're going for, so +1 for nostalgia. Some of the menu items on their website are vague, causing me to order things I probably wouldn't have ordered had I known better, such as the garlic cheese roll, which should be called a garlic bun, as it is literally a burger bun with toppings. The gluten free crust is a nice touch, as my SO has gluten sensitivities. It was also neat that they put our toppings underneath the cheese. Overall though, the taste was lacking, and we hardly finished any item we ordered. It was good to try, but I can't say we'll be coming back soon.

Probably should be 3.5. It's nothing special unless you're feeling nostalgic for Nebraska. It's in line with Pizza Hut, Godfathers, Dominos. Nice cheap express lunch deals. It's usually a solid choice for a quick lunch (pizza by the slice ready to go in a warmer around the noon hour). Staff has been super friendly the couple times I've been here. Pizza itself always has a nice amount of cheese on it. The crust is as middle of the road that it gets--it is slightly doughy, no one can say it's ever overcooked, maybe a touch too thick for a medium crust, but definitely not thick. It's unassuming, unimpressive, but doesn't really do anything wrong. I can't call it the best italian food in town--there are nicer restaurants. There are also much better pizza places. Maybe the best italian food in town for less than 10 bucks. And other people might be nostalgic Nebraskans--which I can be too, at times. :)

Best Italian food in town! The lunch specials are where it's at - you can get a couple slices, breadtwists, and a drink for around $6. I love the spaghetti and meatsauce (life-changing) and the Val's Original Special pizza. The breadtwists are delicious with both cinnamon frosting or garlic. I come here every time I come back to Rochester.

In town for the night. Pizza was good! My kids and hubby had a half cheese, half pepperoni. The kids said it was the best pizza they ever had! My pizza was a thin crust "old world", which included sausage, onions and black olives. It was delicious! My only complaint (and why only four stars) was that the crust was fairly doughy.

Clean place, friendly staff. Pizza, nice and cheesy. There were more shakers for your pizza than I've seen before. As others said the cream cheese on the pizza is wonderful. My only complaint was they didn't have chocolate milk that day. Pizza places are child friendly places where I would think they'd have plenty of chocolate milk on hand. Other than that, no complaints.

I'm not a big pizza person but this is some of the best pizza I've had!

I have been a fan of Val's since I lived in Nebraska and went to the original. The pizza here is awesome. The only thing that would make it better is if they still did the buffet that they do at the original stores.

We got a take order of their Manicotti, and a meatball cream cheese pizza. Both were delicious. Staff was very friendly. Place is clean, and quiet. Exceptional price for a great food.

I love Val's. Whenever I'm visiting my parents in Rochester, I have to come here. It's never crowded, which always scares me that they're going out of business. They've hung on though, so maybe they do more delivery. They have pizza and your basic red sauce type entrees. My husband ordered some kind of a philly sandwich last time we were there, and was horrified because it was all sausage, not steak. He doesn't eat pork, and it doesn't say anything about the sausage, so he wasn't happy. They replaced it with a mediocre lasagna, and he was OK. Besides, the only reason to come is for the CREAM CHEESE PIZZA. It's just up there with all the other toppings, and it makes everything better. It sounds wierd, but it is wonderful and marvelous. This place is pretty cheap too.

If you order your pizza with cream cheese, you'll experience the best pizza in Rochester and some of the best pizza in the country!

Always one of my absolute favorite pizzas. The crust is very unique in texture and the sauce tastes great. Even the basic hamburger pizza is so full of flavor. The lunch is a great deal, but the pizza can occasionally be dry, I would highly recommend ordering a whole one some time to experience the real thing.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
