This place sits in a strip mall and isn't much to look at, but if you are looking for good ma-and-pa-diner food, this is the place for you to check out! The menu is comprised of Midwest comfort food and the prices are extremely reasonable. The service is fast and friendly- try striking up a conversation with one of the servers and you'll also get a good dose of Minnesota nice. Plenty of regulars come in to entertain you with their conversations. Don't go here if you are looking for exotic, but this is a good place to check out if you are looking for fast, friendly, and simple.

Thinking of Grandma should remind you of yesteryear and this place does just that. What era you ask? This place is a complete 1980's throwback. Even the "waitress" (appropriate 1980's lingo) has been working there for 20+years and leaves that green and white handwritten check on the table at the time the food is served. Service is fast and efficient. Ahh, the 80's. The tongue and groove wainscoting, the cheesy wallpaper, chairs with plastic coverings with the padding smooshed from years of use, and those cheap brown chandeliers lighting our plastic glassware and ceramic tableware. You can't beat its authenticity. The only thing missing is Blondie, Irene Cara, and Starship playing in the background. As for the food, we had breakfast with appropriate 1980 portion sizes. I left nothing on the plate and I felt satisfied, not overly full. The place is actually quite roomy inside. There are 3 sections, with 1 section capable of sitting 50 people, and seating options are varied with booth, bar stool, and table options. I hope this place never renovates, the waitress never retires, and they make it thee 1980's joint in Rochester with a 1920's quality cooking (no preservatives, real cheese and bacon with no hormone injected milk). After all, isn't being 100% real, raw the radical and completely tubular thing to do since processed food is now the grody, totally gag me with a spoon, slop Grandma would never want us to put in our bodies?

If your grandma's home-made fried chicken dinner consists of sticking factory-produced unidentifiable pieces of frozen fried chicken in a fryer, warming up frozen corn, reconsituting mashed potatoes from a box of potato flakes, and you're itching for a taste of granny's cookin' then you'll be in hog heaven at this place!

The portions are generous, but the food is just meh. Super cheap but that reflects the vegetables likely having come out of the can. We have been a couple of times, my husband likes the fried chicken, but I have been indifferent with the hot beef sandwich and meatloaf. The wait staff is nice and accommodating, although a little stretched thin in the time we were there. The environment is older and in desperate need of newer furniture.

I like this place a lot. They have pretty good food and very good prices. The name says it all. Just like Grandma used to make.

Grandmas kitchen is like grandmas food. It's simple food that is pleasant enough for everyone...without being so interesting it scares the grandkids away ;) But seriously, the food is as good as you'll get in the price range, the staff is extremely friendly, and the owners have commendable community involvement. They could use a renovation, but I guess if it's "grandmas" then it's looking about right

Enjoyed our visit for breakfast. Lots of people. Really our best glimpse of local people as we waited for our food a bit due to the crowd. Lots of hugs from the staff. Pancakes were great with melting butter on top and warm syrup. There wasn't anything the three of us didn't enjoy...think we will come back for breakfast again in the morning on our way out of town.

Stopped by on a weekday. The place was fairly full. I had 2 eggs, hash browns, toast. The food for my taste was pretty average. Enjoyed the hash browns, they had a nice golden touch to them. The tables are pretty close together so if you don't want to hear the conversation at the table next to you this is not your place. The service was average. Not sure that I would go there again.

Ate at Grandma's Kitchen of Rochester LLC tonight. Ordered the 1/2 pound Cali burger and fries. Paid extra for cheese which didn't even cover the burger. The bun was a little hamburger bun out of a plastic package, since I ordered the big boy size the burger was about twice as big as the bun which made it almost impossible to eat. A frozen unseasoned patty of beef with an inadequate sized bun doesn't = a "burger".

The restaurant is fairly cramped and the seats were a bit sticky. The service was fine. The food seems to have been transported in a time machine from the 1950's. It is okay, but not great., and not terribly exciting. For example, the salsa that came with my taco salad was obviously Pace picante sauce (which I don't really care for) direct from the jar. Having said all of that, I do appreciate what this restaurant does for the Korean War veterans who meet there every week. The owner deserves praise for that. I only wish the food was a bit more interesting.

We went in because of all the good reviews. The food was okay, the service was mediocre, and the reviews all seem to be wrong. When we arrived we found a booth and sat down. After several minutes we flagged down a waitress and asked her to clear the table and take our order. On the positive side, they use real eggs and fresh potatoes. On the other hand, the hash browns were undercooked (to the point of being crunchy), the coffee tasted burnt, and the mushrooms in the veggies omelet were canned. When we were ready to leave we were disappointed but okay. Then we took our ticket up to the front and waited to pay. And waited. And waited. There was no line, and it wasn't that busy. One waitress said she'd be with us in a minute. She proceeded to look up prices from the menu and fill out a ticket for a table. Then she walked away to deliver the ticket. And didn't return. After several more minutes, we left approximate cash on the counter (they don't even bother to total the tickets) and left. We will not be back.

This is the ultimate neighborhood restaurant with a comfy, homey atmosphere that refreshes and rejuvenates. The food tastes good, is served hot by exceptionally nice, highly-competent waitresses, and one never feels cheated like at so many other places around town. What's not to like? The pancakes are one of the top five food items in Rochester. They're served with a dollop of melting butter and come with hot syrup, a culinary innovation not seen elsewhere. Most places have cold syrup the consistency of heavy crude from the Canadian oil sands. I'm convinced that Grandma's is one of the most undervalued businesses here and must certainly be on Warren Buffet's short list of places to buy.

Hometown diner. Come on in and find a seat. I personally love the coffee and the hash browns. They were perfect!

Grandma lives in a small strip mall just north of downtown on Broadway. At least her kitchen does. It's a smaller diner with touches of home. A line of plates adorns the wall near the ceiling. Breakfast here was great. I had biscuits and gravy. A tasty gravy atop a tender biscuit with a side of hash browns. I ordered sausages on the side. The sausage links here are great. They are either made in house or nearby. They were crispy with a delicious interior. My wife had the 3 egg omelet. Very nice. The little one had a kids meal of French toast with a sausage link. It pushed around the plate very nicely. She even ate some. Service was friendly and quick. This is a nice place to have breakfast with the family.

Double burger with french fries! Great home style food. Generous servings decent prices they have excellent breakfast too. The one thing I would definitely pass on though would be the liver and onions!
