When work takes me to rural Minnesota, I like to drive down the Main Streets to find local cafes for lunch. I don't expect gourmet food, but rather good comfort food and some friendly locals. That's what you'll find at Tucks. I had the Salisbury Steak special - something I don't think I've had since the high school lunch room. It was nicely seasoned ground beef with a wonderful mushroom gravy. Mashed potatoes and green beans on the side and a thick piece of white bread to sop up the gravy. It also came with a cup of great home-made vegetable beef soup. With coffee it came to eight bucks. The service was friendly and fast, and the vinyl booths and stools at the lunch counter give the place a comfortable old time feel. Skip the fast food places in Paynesville and head to Tucks for some real food!
