Having now eaten here at least 10 times, I think it is time to give it a review! Lakewood is the hands down best place in the area for dinner and drinks. The restaurant is beautiful with high ceilings and log construction. The lakeside patio can't be beat and is usually easy enough to get a seat at. And even better, they have their own dock to pull up to if you are out on the lake and want to stop in. Food: Eaten my way through a good part of the menu by now... Wings and burgers are always a solid choice, with some of the entrees being hit or miss. Some of the price points are a bit high, like the salads which are probably at least a few dollars higher than I would expect. Some of the soups I have had have been great, but then I have also seen bland looking sliced green beans served with a steak that looked like they came out of a can... Drinks: Around 5 beers on tap, priced right and some different choices (usually Goose Islands Honkers Ale, Blue Moon, Stella , Mich Golden, Amber Bock?). Decent selection of liquors too, but maybe check the price before... Charged $10 for a Makers Mark? Overall nice place to come back to, all the better in the Summer!

I've had 3 dinners here and the consistent thing is the views are great, the facility is spectacular, the food is below average, and the service is absolutely lousy. Lakewood advertised in local media about "Tuesday night is Chinese night." After two lousy experiences, we decided to give it one more try. We drove 15 miles on a gamble. True to form, Lakewood had only 3 employees present - a cook, bartender, and one waitress. Not only was the service slow and unacceptable, the sole waitress said, "Yea, I know the owners advertised Chinese Night but we do not have anything Chinese available right now." Lesson learned: Call before making assumptions. Note to Yelpers, avoid Lakewood and let it die a slow death. Maybe new operators will resurrect this beautiful facility. I strongly urge you to dine at Shady Beach Supper Club on the SD side of Big Stone Lake. The food, service, and experience are all superior in every way.

This is a nice little place in a small town. I was in Ortonville from out of state for a family gathering, and we decided to all go out for dinner here together. The food is probably a dollar or two more than most places, but not too bad. Everything tasted great and service was relatively fast. The view of the lake from the restaurant is really nice too. If you want a nicer place to eat (in an area with few restaurants) this place is a great choice!

Lakewood is probably the best place to get drinks in Ortonville (if you're looking for REAL cocktails, like I was). Also, it's easily the most vegetarian-friendly establishment in the area. They offer meatless pastas, a vegetarian casserole, AND a veggie burger. In fact, the menu options (even for the omnivores) are a little more adventurous than your average burgers and fries, so kudos for that. In my opinion, the quality of food here is a step up from its local competitors. I've never had a meal here that I didn't enjoy, so for a "supper club" in a small town, they are doing a fine job. Last but not least, it's a beautiful place with a gorgeous view. I enjoy meeting friends here, or taking out-of-towners here for dinner and/or drinks, as it's a rather impressive building to marvel. On a nice summer evening, definitely try and get a seat on the back patio, overlooking the lake, or at least a table by the window!

Really enjoyed our meal when staff isn't overwhelmed. Walleye sandwich is delish! When it's busy, quality of food suffers. Ordered a burger on a busier night and was not impressed with how it was cooked, or how long it sat under kitchen lights before being delivered an hour later. Ambiance is rustic and charming. Only the wait staff leaves the tables without bussing (clearing dirty dishes/ wiping) even during not busy times. Personally, I think that's gross, and takes away from a pleasant experience. Also, having worked in the restaurant industry, it leaves you ill-prepared to seat newly arriving patrons. On busy nights, one would think this doesn't need explaining. Could alleviate the confusion for seating, and avoid wait time. Would love to see a menu change for the summer season, with less greasy fare, whist keeping a few of the popular standards... Overall, good dining. Could very easily be great casual dining, with a staff meeting or two. :)

Good food but could be a little better on pop refills. Only get 1 and glasses are small. One reason i go to other local supper clubs more bc they offer unlimited refills
