Completely unremarkable food and drink. Almost exclusively a college hangout.

Great place to have lunch, and I bet it can be plenty fun at night too. Food was very good, although beer prices seemed a tad on the high side for draft. Was good tho, and we enjoyed the atmosphere!

Stopped in for lunch today - I had heard about their Reuben sandwiches and thought I needed to experience one for myself. I ordered the whole Reuben with a bowl of corn chowder. My sister ordered an item off the daily special menu: a Gouda cheese, tomato and bacon sandwich with a cup of beer cheese soup. Everything was fresh and tasty. I found it odd that the Thousand Island dressing for the Reuben is served separately (actually in a salad dressing packet); I liked being able to put extra dressing on my sandwich. Service was prompt and friendly even in the middle of the lunch rush. I'm not sure what the bar area would be like at night, but they had several TVs so I assume this could be a good pick for game day. Overall the prices were reasonable, with the friendly staff and good food I was quite pleased.

I think this place is running on nostalgia. I've met the owner a time or two and he is a nice guy, but some of the employees are awful. I feel like at one time this restaurant was amazing, but the cleanliness is bad. I used to go here once a week with my husband. For bar food they offer amazing food, but unfortunately I cannot support a restaurant that has such poor standards. The last time I visited was when I ordered the amazing brat burger. I was sitting facing the kitchen and I watched the cook come out of the kitchen, hand MY pretzel bun to his friend and let him play with the bun. He proceeded to make my burger like it was nothing. I was appalled. An individual in street clothes and dirty hands handled my food. I still cannot believe this happened, and I'm so sad that it did because I love the food.

For over 30 years, this was my favorite place...not any more. Again (see my other reviews ) it seems they hate their customers. Normal bartender is on corner bar side is RUDE. Please, if a customer asked for a very slight change in the food, don't lecture your customer about why you can't do it. We do understand if the kitchen is busy, but it never is. And btw, it's usually almost empty. Ask a waitress about a beer or wine and the answer is likely to be, "I do t know, I've never tasted it." Come on managers, it's the 21st century and people expect more. Okay, in spite of the service, or lack of service, the food is decent. Good burgers and very good black bean burger...but don't as to have that in the burger basket...it's against the rules (usually, but not always). Whoa, pepper jack cheese is holy mole spicy and good! I still love the corner bar side because it has not changed in years. But I won't be back until the manager over there is replaced (could have happened, I haven't been in for 4 months).

Paper plates, slow service, expensive food. Ordered nachos, brought out bowl of chips with a plate of dip, not very good for $12?! Nice waitress but very very slow. Took 30 minutes just to order! Won't be back anytime soon.

We stopped in from out of state. I ordered a Friday special, Gouda, bacon, and tomato sandwich with a cup of tomato soup. The sandwich was a fantastic lunch meal. The Gouda was a great touch, and the bacon was fantastic. Fair priced, good, American food.

The best burgers in town. I asked for mine to be made medium rare, on the rare side of medium rare and it came to exactly that! Delicious! Great. Flavor and the Frieda's were good and crispy on the outside. Love this place!

My sons and I, stopped here for lunch on the 4th of July, when it turned out the rest of the town was closed up for the day. When we asked what they were 'known for', we were told "our burgers or the Reuben'. Considering we just drove down from the Cities to burn some old gas out of a collector car, I wasn't about to risk getting a Reuben that was a disappointment. So all three of us ordered burgers. Totally impressed! The food. The service (Thanks Tawni!). The cleanliness. Everything was awesome. But the burgers... man, oh man... they were out of this world! I've never had a better burger. Ever. We'll be back. And in the meantime, I'm telling all of my friends!

I had to try a reuben since it's practically the name of the place, and it was pretty good. However, it was the cup of clam chowder I got before the reuben that was a delightful surprise. It was thick and had lots of clams. The bartender was good, and they had a couple of local beers on tap.

I love this bar. When I first moved to Minnesota from Uppper MIchigan this lil pub kept my spirts up when i was homesick. Great food, drinks and a big variety of patrons being a mix of locals and college students from both St. Olaf and Carleton College. I've meet people from MN and all over the world in this bar. Come for a drink, stay for the new friends you'll meet (sounds corny , but it's true)
