They take great pride in doing things right here. I appreciate that a ton. First, their WANGS! Their wings are simple, tasty and well prepared. But the garlic sauce they serve with them is DIVINE. Order it, keep vampires away for a long time. They also have housemade (!!!) pepperjack queso which is SO worth the like $3 you pay for a huge plate of chips + bowl of deliciousness. They have about a billion beers on tap and have these glass washer things that ensure the glass you are served doesn't have any residue on it from the soap. It's the little things like that which make this place a gem.

some of the best wings I've ever had. and that garlic dipping sauce....DROOL they used to make a spicy bolognese type of pasta that was so good too but I don't see it on the menu anymore :( please bring that back!

Great Northeast sports bar! Lots of bar seating, great beer menu and a pretty nice outdoor patio to go with it. Wings are definitely top tier, usually have to get ordered every trip in. Also good sandwiches, flatbreads and a solid homemade veggie burger!

I went here on Monday. They had great burger deal- really good burger too. Chicken wing is really really good too!

I came here on a Saturday evening with some dudes who frequent this place. For the burger-and-beer kind of joint that this place is to them, it's perfectly sufficient. Heck, they supposedly have some of the best wings in town! For me, however, the "VEGGI BURGER" (made from black beans and quinoa) was mushy and flavorless. Even the corn salsa that came on it was bland. The servings were huge, however, and the fries were alright - plus they offer a plethora of sides (including salad, soup, potato salad, tots, etc.) so you can branch out. They also offered both dijon AND yellow mustard in the condiment department (holla, DIJON!). My Bloody Mary was overly salty and boring simultaneously, but they had a few decent beers on tap so I'll go that route if I return. Beyond the food/beverages, this place seemed to be mostly focused on a sports bar vibe which, like I said before, makes it perfectly fine - thus the A-OK star rating. Everyone was tuned into the pre-season Vikings game, except for the ladies in crowns and sashes who seemed to be making their way through the saddest bar crawl bachelorette or birthday party of ALL TIME. They ordered some fruity looking drinks and sulked in the corner. Cheers to them. Cheers to us all.

If you are looking for a good bar in NE this is not the one. Highest beer prices in TOWN...... Yes, I mean ALL of Minneapolis! If you plan to visit Ray J's bring some Lube.

Food it's good but make sure you have extra time it take 25 minutes to get are order .

This got five stars in my book for one reason: the drunken wings. These drunken wings are probably my favorite wings in the cities. They cook the whole wing and serve 'em piping hot. On top of that, they have killer deals every day of the week for both boose and food. Overall, a quality NE bar with damn good food.

Great wings and lots of craft beer on tap. Pretty spendy though. The drunken wings and the buffalo wings come as whole wings. They are messy but delicious. The burgers are alright. They must have 30+ craft brews on top and some on nitro. Its a great spot to watch a game. It does feel a like a chain though. Some craft taps are $8 :/

Best bar food. Hands down. Wing favorites are the habanero and drunken. Ask to have the two flavors mixed and you won't know what hit you. Went Friday night and tried the Ray js famous hot sandwich (king size bed of garlic toast, roast beef, mashed potatoes, and gravy). I shouldn't have eaten the whole thing but I couldn't stop myself. So damn good. I've also had the tots (nothing special but always good) and cheese curds (always a favorite but needs to be shared b/c portion is quite generous). Parking lot isn't too big but I've never had issues finding a spot. Street parking also available. There is an outdoor patio. Service is a little slow but food and drink come out pretty quickly. Prices are also very reasonable. Will def be back!

Smoky Ranch wings were very tasty-lots of seasonings and not overly greasy. The Reuben was a total disappointment-who puts straight up sour cream on a Reuben? I would not call that "New York style sauce."

Parking in the back. We walk in and I thought this is a bar not a restaurant. It's just the feel of the place. You seat yourself and the waiter/waitress bring the menu over. Every table had wings so I must order wings. They sell the wings 1 1/2 lb or 3lb. We got 3lb of Asian wings. Very delicious not spicy not sweet. We also got 1 11/2 of each hot & drunken wings. They were very good!!!! We also got the hangover burger. Mmmmmmmmm I love a fried egg on a burger. When I went the special was 3 tacos for $5. Very good deal because the tacos were big not street size! Also $2 off all tequila drinks. You could eat and have a drink for under $10 Overall a good place to eat wings & burgers & have a few drinks.

Man oh man are the wings good here. I usually cannot handle the messiness of sauced chicken wings but could eat their drunken wings for DAYS. There is definitely a reason they got voted best wings in the Twin Cities. I am glad they have the northeast location, it helps round out the neighborhood a little more. Aside from the wings, I am a fan of the grilled chicken pita sandwich, mostly because of the addicting garlic sauce. I am pretty sure it's just pureed garlic with lemon and salt but OMG it is SO GOOD. I could literally eat it on anything. Though I'm not a big cheese curd fan, they do serve a mean cheese curd appetizer. You can definitely hear the squeak when you bite into a fresh order. Service is good, food comes out a tad slower than you would expect but it's pretty obvious they make a lot of their items from scratch. There's a large free private parking lot in the back so that process is relatively easy. Check out their happy hour specials and consider their living social deals...great price for their wings.

Great wings! Great prices! I absolutely HAVE to come here on Wednesday if I'm in town. Lol. I've had every flavor of wings and I literally almost couldn't handle the habanero sauce. Wednesdays are their "Wing Wednesdays". $0.80 a wing! Not just half a wing like at Buffalo Wild Wings... the WHOLE wing! I love it! I recommend it to everyone.

I wandered in once on a lunch break expecting a dive bar with standard pub food, but turns out it's a classy joint (for a sports bar) with really good salmon. But the next time I went, I waited over 15 minutes at a table for a server to take my order. The place was practically empty, mind you. So I ended up walking out, but I don't think they even noticed. I still want to go back for that salmon sometime, but I'm back to not knowing what to expect from this place, so maybe I'll never go back. I don't know.

I created a Yelp just so I could praise this place. We go almost every week for Taco Tuesday, and for $5, you can't beat this deal--three large, fresh, and delicious tacos. We also get the chips with salsa and queso to start and I don't know what kind of salsa they use, but it's the best I've ever had. Special shoutout to our server Sophie, who is THE BEST waitress at this place and continually goes out of our way to make sure we enjoy our dinners and that we are served in a timely fashion. The rest of the servers are okay, but Sophie really knocks it out of the ballpark and is half the reason we come.

Nice place, very crowded on a Monday afternoon. Server was very knowledgeable about all the various regional beers served, much appreciated. We had the pastrami sandwich, the cuban sandwich and of course the drunken wings. The pastrami had pepperjack cheese and horseradish mustard, quite a bit of fiery aftertaste, but good. The cuban sandwich was unmemorable, the pork tasted of some sort of odd marinade. The wings were excellent. Server appeared rushed but kept things moving swiftly. Overall, a very nice little place for lunch.

Stop what you're doing and get the Drunken Wings. Why are you still reading? Get into your car and start driving, now! The best wings I have ever had. Better than Maxwell's, Blarney's, BWW. DO NOT GET the walleye. It was not seasoned well, the bun was bland, and there was so much batter, I didn't even know I was eating fish.

First of all don't let Elizabeth's bad experience defer you from going to this place. The wings are amazing, the bar staff is fun, during the hockey playoffs last year this place had some serious energy. Get in there, have fun and support NE MPLS. Merica.

Wings are FULL chicken wings and are soooooo good. Living in NE and craving wings? Drink a cold one on their patio and dunk your face into these tasty treats

The Pot Pie is the owner's Mom's recipe, and it's excellent. I loved their Monday burger special, but didn't find the wings to be all that exciting on a couple of wing Wednesdays. Was super psyched to find out that they are soccer-centric, and will be making it my go-to bar for big games. (And if they have an MLB package and will dedicate a TV to my fancies, I will spend the entire summer there :-)

Chicken frisco burger was ok, nothing special about the juicy Lucy. I would for sure come back for the wings. No pics of the wings, they were eaten too fast.

A great beer selection, total World Cup coverage, AND they have juicy lucys?! Watch out, Mac's. This might be my new favorite haunt. Beer selection was pretty impressive, including one or two from a lesser known Minneapolis brewery. There were some rotating taps as well. Our food was somewhat simple, but absolutely delicious! My partner had the BBQ chicken flatbread - the sauce was a sweet BBQ sauce but worked perfectly with crunchy crust, yummy cheese, and white meat chicken. I had the juicy lucy. I was taken aback to see it listed on their menu, I thought only the 5-8 Club and Matt's Bar had a claim to this cheese-filled slab of meat! There were zero toppings that came with the burger, but to be honest, I didn't need any. I absolutely have to recommend the fries - SO TASTY. Not too greasy, not too salty, with a perfect amount of yummy potato flavor. Yes, potatoes have flavor - who knew? Prices are comparable to other NE bars ($5-8 for beer, most entrees around $10), service was friendly, and the interior still looks clean and new. I'm not sure if they have any happy hour deals, but that would be an added bonus. I'll definitely be back - soon!

Awesome wings. They give you the whole wing, not just the drummy. You can tell they select higher meat content wings. You can go through twice as many Bdubs wings because they are so small. I got through 2 of these and it was a haul. A good haul. The sauce was also great. The blue cheese is top notch. A great place for lunch or casual dinner.

I went there with my boyfriend on a weeknight. It was chilly inside, so we went outside on the patio. It took about 10 minutes for a server to finally come over. We told her we had a living social deal. She proceeded to take our drink and wing order. It took another 10 mins to bring our drinks over and the wings came another 10 after that. When she dropped off our drinks, she took our burger order. We ordered the juicy lucy and the tommy burger. About 20 minutes later our burgers arrived, but it wasn't what we ordered. The waitress claimed she informed us that the tommy couldn't be ordered as part of the living social deal (ummm, no, she didn't because my boyfriend had another burger picked out, and it wasn't a juicy lucy, had she told us the tommy didn't qualify). So, stuck, having been there now for nearly 50 mins, he ate the burger. We complained about the fries, so she had new ones made. Those arrived when we were ready to go. There definately was not any rush or importance placed on our food made incorrectly. When we finally got our bill, we had been there for nearly an HOUR AND A HALF! And this was for burgers, fries, and wings! The next day, I attempted to call and speak with a manager regarding our visit. I was told that there was no manager working. Really, no manager working? No wonder this place has such bad service and doesn't care about getting food out to customers in a timely manner. So, I left a message. No one called me back that day, so I tried again the next day. I was told again, there wasn't a manager on duty. So, I left another message. It wasn't until the third attempt, and the third message, that someone called me back. He apologized for everything and said he'd send me a gift card in the mail to come try them again, because, he claimed, they truly were better than our experience had illustrated to us. And here I am, nearly two weeks later, without a gift card. This place obviously doesn't care about its service, it's food, or trying to save a lost customer! Everyone and anyone that has ever worked ANY sort of customer service job knows that the customers will make or break your business. A happy customer will tell one person about their experience, but an unhappy customer will tell the world.

been wanting to check it out, its in my neighborhood, arrived for fri hh beer n burger, sat at the bar and waited.. no greeting, waited few minutes nothing.. 3 guys walked in and were greeted and served, I left.. crowd looked rougher than I prefer, not that that's a big deal but worth noting.. good luck Ray J's

NO JOKE. Best wings in the city. I have followed many "best of" to find a better wing and it has yet to be found. You won't be disappointed, and if you don't feel like wings they have many more options to choose from.

Ray J's in Northeast is a sports bar with a million TVs, and about as many taps. I was impressed. I stopped in on an impromptu visit and I was surprised. This bar is actually pretty cool, and just down the block from my house. Ray J's has a clean looking-new feel to it, a true contemporary sports bar atmosphere. It has huge televisions mounted on the walls, pull-tabs, and a fine selection of beer; even better, 3 taps which incorporate nitro. Honestly, I would have to be pretty drunk to order food here-no offense; however, I go to sports bars for logical reasons: watching a football game, getting a drink, or acting tough with my buddies. I wouldn't rate this place on food; that being said, I did have a bite of the chicken sliders and they were actually good. The bartender recommended we get them dipped in buffalo sauce, and that was optimal. I wouldn't rate a golf course on the quality of its popcorn. The service was great. A hostess seated us promptly, even in the midst of a playoff game when the bar was most packed. The bartender was attentive, and most of the patrons were friendly. There was a bit of debauchery, but that was expected. All in all the game was great, the experience was great, we had a fantastic view of what was going on from behind the taps. I will be back to try the large selection of exclusive beers. That is one of the best things about successful bars in this area. They go out on a limb and bring in local greats, and far off favorites, rather than sticking to the staple Bud Lights and Mich Goldens. Ray J's seems very promising. Other bars should follow their lead. Go here if you want to have a good time, a good drink, and a good view of the game. Don't go here if you are wearing white gloves and down for a knitting circle, you may be overwhelmed.

I went to Ray J's to experience their wings for the first time and here is what I found that gave me a reason to return: 1. They have parking. This is a huge bonus in this area of Minneapolis. 2. The Wings are big and taste great. 3. Taco Tuesday's! 4. The service was great. 5. They have a good beer selection. 6. A great place to watch sports with tv's placed perfectly around the restaurant. 7. It is clean. This is a restuarant I would go back to.

Had to knock this down a star or two -- not something I enjoy doing. I've been hearing that this place can be over-salted at times, and found out for myself just two days ago. Hot Beef Sandwich. GOD but I love Hot Beef Sandwiches! Unfortunately, that was, hands down, the saltiest gravy I have ever tasted. Awful. I had four bites. Yep. All four bites were awful. On the plus side, the waiter comped my meal. On the negative side, no Hot Beef Sandwich. Come on, you guys! It's a friendly place, and a fun place -- keep the salt away from the cooks!!

Great bar food. Fun atmosphere. Fantastic service. The wings are highly recommended and live up to the hype. The burgers are huge 1/2 pounders and the happy hour is a great deal. The lightly is fairly dim but adds to the atmosphere and I got used to it. Plenty of TVs.

  • Yoshii Y.

Clean, tasty, and fancy would be the 3 words to describe this place. Fancy in the sense it looks nicer inside then all the other bars in the area besides maybe the bull dog. They have a banner outside of the building saying that WCCO voted the wings the best in the twin cities. Not sure how this is possible since they have only been open for a few months. The wings did taste amazing though. I will be back.

I have spent a lot of time here, since it is close to the business that I just opened myself. The food is good and service is always prompt and helpful. Many beer choices and the game is always on. It is just about sports bar perfection, but much cleaner and has more class than the others. The free parking is an extra special bonus!

  • Garrett B.

Im am only giving it 3 stars because I love chicken wings, and these wings are the best or are right up there with the best that I have ever had. They are fried perfectly, and the sauce is great. The blue cheese dressing is a little watered down. For our main courses my girlfriend ordered a chicken sandwich with fries, it came out with tator tots so we had to send it back. Her sandwich bread was soggy and the fries were undercooked. I ordered the walleye sandwich with tator tots. The sandwich was too bread heavy and the bread wasn't any good. The fish was soggy which was just wrong considering this was a $15.50 sandwich. Other than our qualms with the food, our service was just horrible. She was slow and non attentive to our needs. Our main courses took 40 minutes to come out of the kitchen and she only stopped by 5 minutes ahead of our food coming out to let us know that it would be out soon. She didn't come by ever to refill our waters. The atmosphere was good and the wings were the best, but that is the only reason for the three stars. So if you aren't going for the wings then go elsewhere because without the wings this place would get one star.
