Chicken strip joints are common in the South, always Sysco-outlet fast food places--not exactly locavore slow food-type establishments, so you have to go in with a certain lack of expectations. These guys are from Baton Rouge; other similar chains such as Guthrie's out of Alabama, whom they stole their sauce recipe from yet who has a far superior batter, and especially Abner's out of Oxford, MS, have been in my experience WAY better. So, here are my issues. If you are going to brand based on a single food item, and offer NOTHING else on the menu (Abner's for example has a full menu of non-chicken strip items, but also importantly offer grilled in addition to fried tenders), it has to be special. The strips are at best mediocre. To me, it was bar-food quality, something you could find in any schlock house. The sides are unfortunately not redeeming. The fries are greasy crinkle cuts (imitation Oreida thins, thanks a million Sysco), the slaw is unimpressive, and the Texas toast is--well, I'm not a big fan of Texas toast even when it's done well, to be fair. This had a lot of butter and also garlic. And why is everyone freaking out about the sauce? Take some ketchup, mayonnaise, pepper, garlic, and Worchestershire and mix them together. You're done. Nothing to write home about at all. If y'all think that's such ambrosia, you should try some Comeback sauce--this is basically a poor man's rendition of it. If there's only going to be one sauce (ketchup doesn't count), like I said above about the strips, it has to be transcendent. I would prefer ranch, honey mustard, Buffalo, or barbecue sauce, but they give you no options here in any terms: not with the protein, not with the sides, and not even with the sauces. Guess I'll stick to my homemade Cajun grilled tenders. It's a shame, because Abner's and even Chick-Fil-A were so great by comparison. *sigh*

I've been coming here at a rate of about once a week for the last 6 weeks, so I'm upgrading. It's very addicting!

All the rave reviews had me mighty curious about this place so I finally came to check out the special sauce today. The chicken fingers were cooked well - crunchy on the outside, pretty juicy on the inside. I agree with what Colin said about how the chicken could have been a bit more spicy. The sauce was good. It tasted sort of like the blue cheese sauce that comes with chicken wings, but spicier. I enjoyed it, but I didn't find myself thinking that it was addictive. In addition to the chicken fingers and the special sauce, I got some Texas toast and french fries with my lunch. The Texas toast was interesting. It wasn't all greasy and it had a slightly sweet flavor. I liked the fries more than the toast. They seemed fresh and were just the right thickness. Maybe all the 5-star reviews had me expecting too much. I wouldn't mind coming back here again if friends wanted to stop here for lunch, but it's not a place that I would go out of my way to visit.

I try to be healthy, really, I do. Lift, run, Corepower, Crossfit... love sweating it out during a good workout. Sometimes, you just need something that you know is terrible in all ways for you. That place is Cane's. Yeah, it's fried chicken, fries, toast, and coleslaw. Not tryna get my nutrients with this meal, just trying to enjoy my meal. Chicken is crisp on the outside, tender on the inside. Toast is a godsend when you dip it in that sauce. Disclaimer: have tried to make the sauce before using Google/Yahoo results. Didn't work out so well. I think the secret might be to have it sit, but I'm too scared to try again. The sweet tea is amazing as well. I could live off that stuff. If you're over in Stadium Village (try doing a Corepower sculpt class above the restaurant before to burn off some of those calories, maybe? Free week for anyone who hasn't done it before) and looking to treat yourself, definitely go to Cane's.

Their menu is pretty sparse - chicken, fries, coleslaw, and Texas toast. I have never had better chicken, and the sauce is AMAZING!!!! The fries are pretty good too, although feel free to skip their Texas toast.

The chicken was the perfect combo of crunchy outside and juicy inside. Very well seasoned breading. The sauce is something I'd buy by the jar if I could. The toast is probably my favorite part. The combos are very well priced! Personally didn't love the sweet tea but it was okay!

    (4)
  • Rod S.

Cane sauce was good, sweet tea was the best in the cities. The chicken was ever so slightly overooked on outside but the inner was moist and juicy. Personally, I would put some cayenne in the breading but we will be going here again.

Being a girl from Baton Rouge (the birthplace of Raising Cane's), I was really missing my Cane's chicken fingers after moving up to the Twin Cities. To my great surprise, there is a Cane's on Washington Ave! It's a bit of a drive but so worth it! These are some of the best chicken fingers I've ever had. Plus, the toast, sauces, and sweet tea are great too!!! It tastes like home!

Ooohh.....That dipping sauce is off the hook. A little hint of worchestire perhaps? Really liked the sauce. Reminded me of seasoned sour cream and the chex mix flavoring. The chicken fingers were alright. Pretty moist and not overly cooked with the batter just right. Good sized chicken fingers. More than enough for lunch or dinner. The lemonade was alright. I was expecting to be blown away by the freshly squeezed statement, but nothing that made it overly memorable. The ice chips left more of an impression. Parking is a pain and am not a fan of that, but the sauce made it worthwhile. Will probably venture back if in the area.

Quick facts about Raising Cane's: * They only make chicken fingers (well, and chicken finger sandwiches) * Their Cane's sauce is AMAZING on everything - their chicken, fries, Texas toast, your finger * It's named after the owner's dog (!!!!) * After dining here, all other chicken fingers will be compared to Raising Cane's

Um. I usually hate fried food? But it was good! It's not like KFC My faves: Texas Toast- i love this! Fries- when they do it right and not give me the ones that have been sitting for a while Coleslaw Chicken fingers- if they happen to give me a meaty one and not one with just the fried batter

Wow. Was at the university and wanted something fast. Had to say that I was swayed by the "not good for you, but worth it". Lived up to the reviews - great food at a better price, with probably no check marks on the diet. Sometimes the guilty pleasures are the best. Definitely on the list next time I am in town.

After some bubble tea next store at Tea Garden, our group (oddly) decided to check out Raising Cane's...nothing like a little tea & chicken fingers, I always say! I was pleasantly surprised...the chicken fingers were in fact moist (don't a lot of people HATE the word moist? I don't mind it at all; in fact, I might even say it again in this review), and the SAUCE was UNREAL. So unreal that I asked the fellas' if I could take their leftover sauce and bring it home!! It's true - I now have four little containers of their sauce in my fridge...going to use it with grilled chicken now for a slightly healthier alternative. You can buy hundreds of chicken fingers there for tailgating at The U...that would be kind of dope. "Hey everyone, I brought 200 chicken fingers for us to share." That will be me someday, if I can make enough friends to eat 200 chicken fingers.

Last time I went here I found a pube on one of my chicken fingers. I think I'm done eating fingers from cane's. They used to also have a deal for a free finger through the light rail deals (the defunct "central corridor perks" deals) but 2 of the 3 times I tried to use it, I didn't get the extra finger in my order (it was to go, so it was too late). I submitted a complaint via their website and never received a response. Their "rewards" card is also anything but. I think I've had the card for going on three years now and been there maybe a dozen times over that period. I think I get the occasional buy one get one offers but nothing else.

  • Tina W.

OK, peeps. You get chicken here. Just chicken. Choose from 3, 4 or 5 pieces, but just chicken. What does that mean? It had better be good. And it is. It's our favorite fried chicken. Love the little crispies on the ends. YUM! Fries are fries; toast is good (Wish they'd grill on both sides); sauce is TO DIE FOR! We eat this at least twice a month--it's the go-to place when you ask the kids where they want to go. Good rewards program too! LOVE the sweet tea! YUMMY! We did a taste test of Cane's vs. Chik-Fil-A, and while chik fil a has our heart, Raising Cane's has both our stomachs and our wallets.

great food, I enjoyed the chicken fingers, fries and sauce very much. Nice and fresh. Quick service and surprisingly fast turn over of diners not having to wait for a table. I like their reward card deals.

  • Aaron W.

It was my firs time and they made a big deal of it ... so that was fun. Straight forward chicken fingers that are cooked right. The Box is a generous meal and I like the cole slaw too. I'll be back.

Chicken. Fingers. Only. Strange concept, right? No! Not when it's done soooo well! Man, when schools in session this place is lunch heaven! Best chicken tenders in town! Mmmmm. Finger lickin' good chicken. Also, CANE SAUCE! Don't ask questions, just get it. Thing I love about this place, besides amazing chicken, is you can order for your level of hunger. Sometimes I just get 2 tenders and call it a day. If it's your 1st time I'd get a meal w/ the fabulous toast, cane sauce, and their delicious lemonade. I would say their service is slow, but I think it's just my impatience and anticipation to get my fingers and the chicken tenders!

THE. BEST. CHICKEN. FINGERS. EVER. And the sauce is amazing as well. And you can't beat a nice clean restaurant that plays all the best 90's hits. An all-around experience. You'll never want to go anywhere else for lunch again.

    (5)
  • Ashley F.

I am 90-95% sure that Cane's sauce has a little crack in it. That stuff is the best. I will be very happy when I graduate this May so Cane's is not an accesible choice for lunch. The kid's meal here is the best option for anyone that doesn't want to eat a pound of food. It leaves me full and satisfied for a fraction of what lunch at Coffman costs.

Basically, Raising Cane's is known for two things: Chicken Fingers and Cane's Sauce. That's about it. But their idea is simple and delicious. This place is great for a random late night snack. The sauce is addicting, and the chicken fingers are always fresh (in contrast with some other popular fast food places). Great for any U of M student looking for a greasy, unhealthy, warm, cheap, filling snack. Come in with that expectation, and you will not be disappointed.

The Dalai Lama was in town so we got some chicken fingers for the occasion. whatever. Anyways, love joints like this. Announce to the world we rock at one dish and one dish only. The Tofu House is another example. And they were spot on. The chicken fingers were perfect. Moist and juicy on the inside (that's what she said) and crispy on the outside. The dipping sauce is great but indeed, 1000 island with pepper is what it is. Mrs. G also enjoyed their sweet tea as well. I'd definitely go back for another helping. Place was da bomb.

  • Patrick P.

I'll black out the fact that this place is a chain restaurant that way I can enjoy it and still be a pretentious douche. If you want chicken fingers in a non-bar setting when you're hammered this is the place to go. The chicken fingers have a nice light and flaky breading. The sauce is fantastic like Jesus vomiting in your mouth. The fries aren't anything revolutionary yet still quite good as is the Texas toast. Since that is the extent of the menu if what you see is something you would be interested in you should give it a try. The restaurant is clean, the servers are friendly and there are pictures of dogs all over the place. Raising Cane's is named after a dog so that should be enough of a reason to go. As long as you're at Cane's (Yeah, I abbreviate it, I'm crazy like that) you might also want to hit up Tea Garden for amazing, palate cleansing Boba teas. "What's a Tea Garden," I might just have a forthcoming review to explain. Also, make sure to pick up a Caniac Club Card, it's free and will net you a free Box combo for filling it out online.

Chicken fingers and chicken finger sandwiches. That's all Cane's has to offer. And it's enough. In all honesty, I might have given them 5 stars, but while a lot of people have raved about their dipping sauce, I find the situation missing a little something (I think it's just thousand island dressing without the chunks). The fries are good, the texas toast is actually kind of good (I usually eat wheat bread at home, so this is kind of a forbidden yummy goodness), and the seasoning on the chicken is delicious. What it's all missing is ... Ranch dressing. I came here once with my brother who was aware of this lack, but he had grabbed a bunch of ranch dressing packets from Chick Fil-A and generously shared them with me. THAT was the perfect combination!

Some deep-seeded interest in fried chicken compelled me to write about this joint by the U. of M. -- probably my southern roots looking for a little comfort in sweet tea and nom nom dipping sauce. After my second visit today, I have to say I'm hooked! I can't believe the menu of chicken fingers (only chicken fingers) evaded me for so long. The taste is tangy, texture so crunchy and the hot fries perfectly salted. Only downside is the price. It's been a while, though I recall I could eat twice the chicken at Church's. That said, those fingers are worth it. Stop on in y'all for a taste of the south -- mmMMmmmm!

My boyfriend ate here so many times during the summer that his lunchtime diet was a "Cane's diet." It eventually ended with him having aching joints and the false assumption that he had developed arthritis. Turns out it was from eating too much Cane's chicken and fries. Yup, that's how much he ate there. With that being said, this place is delicious! I'm not sure what's so great about them--perhaps it is the grease or maybe the Cane's sauce. Either way, it's good stuff. Every time I've been here, the counter service has been excellent--the employees are very kind and come around to make sure your meal is OK. I think this place will be hoppin' when the students come back for school and it may or may not be a contributing factor to their freshmen fifteen.... or senior sixty?

  • Logan A.

Raising Cane's is a simple place. All they do is chicken fingers -- served alone or on a bun -- and the tasty sides of fries, Texas toast and cole slaw. They also have brewed sweet tea, and that makes a good meal even better. The classic meal has four chicken strips plus slaw, toast and fries. They'll let you swap out one side for an extra of the other. Don't forget the delicious special dipping sauce, too. I probably should not come here as often as I do, but sometimes you just need to satisfy that craving. I'm hooked.

What else can I say about these deep-fried super moist chicken fingers that already hasn't been said? If you are in the market for some down home chicken goodness, look no further than Raising canes. Seriously. They are amazing. You won't win any diet wars off of dining here, but you will probably want to bathe in the dipping sauce. Go here now.

My sweetie brought me to Raising Cane's one night. I gotta say, I'm a bit addicted to what they got going on. The chicken strips can stand on their own as scrumptious, but smoother them in some of that dipping sauce? Oh mama! You have just entered another dimension of delicious! The texas toast is thick and buttery with a nice mild crustiness to it, just the way I like it!!! Plus, something that my boyfriendface really likes, their fountain drink machine has crushed ice. You know, the kind that has the bubble in it and is super fun to chew on? Yup, they got it. The atmosphere is a slight ups on the fast food chain feel, it hovers somewhere between a TGI Friday with all the random wall decor and something like a Chipolte with the 'modern' look of wood and aluminum and neato light fixtures. NO OFFENSE!!! (note the 5 star rating, I do love this place!) For chicken places, this restaurant tops the list.

Hot digity damn this place is good. I love me some chicken fingers so I'm ashamed and surprised that I didn't try this place out sooner. I picked up an order of four fingers and fries which is referred to as "The Box" and it didn't disappoint. The Cane's sauce is magically delicious and the chicken was piping hot. I so wished I would have been frequenting this place sooner as today I begin Operation Lose Man Boobs so I don't think I'll be visiting this place too often.

I thought all of the 5-star reviews were a scam until Sarah P. tossed one up there, so I vowed to try it out. The problem is, I'm never on that side of town, let alone at meal time. Well yesterday I was downtown and driving my car (usually a bus person), so I figured I'd head over and pick up some dinner. The menu is amazingly brief, which gave me hope. If you only do one thing, you should end up doing it particularly well or you'll close. When I got my food home, I was disappointed for multiple reasons. First, they shorted me 2 chicken fingers. I live in Southwest Minneapolis, so obviously I'm not going to go back. Not a good way to start my meal. Next, the fries were not quite soggy, but not exactly crisp either. The coleslaw was ok, but not stellar. So now we're to the star of the meal. The chicken tenders were moist and pretty tasty. The mythical dipping sauce of legendary status was pretty close to ranch dressing with something red mixed in (my guess is either french dressing or ketchup). I don't get the 5-star reviews here. Things they do well: Sweet tea and the garlic toast (even with the weird extra flavor - garlic salt?) Some guys at work who are also from the South schedule bus trips to campus for lunch at Chik-Fil-A (to share that bit of home with other people at work) and I was planning on doing the same for this place. I will probably schedule one just to see if my meal was a fluke or caused by the 10 minute car ride (I don't think my 2 missing tenders evaporated on the drive though), but it had better be stellar in order to remove the bad taste that this experience gave me.

This place offers both amazing food and service! Usually it only takes about 5 minutes to get your food, however, they lost my order when I went in once and it took about 15 minutes to get my food. It wasn't a huge deal, but when I told them that I had been waiting for that long they apologized and got my order out to me quickly. Not only did they apologize, but the manager personally delivered my food and gave me a free meal card for the next time that I came in. Gotta love that customer service!

  • Brian H.

If I'm a connoisseur of anything, it's chicken fingers. Cane's are definitely tasty - much better than the lukewarm, dried-out nuggets you'll get at any other fast food place. But the food that comes with the chicken could use some work. The crinkle-cut fries are one step up from what you'd get at a school cafeteria; the "toast" was fine, but I would've been happy leaving it and the cole slaw out, and just paying $1.50 less for the meal. That being said, if I were in college, or just lived near the university, I could see myself coming back quite a bit.

  • Colin D.

I feel like I'm missing something here. After all the stellar reviews I was expecting more. Don't get me wrong there's nothing wrong with the place. The service was good, the chicken is perfectly cooked, it just tasted a little bland. Maybe I expect my fried chicken to have more spice and this wasn't spicy. Maybe my taste buds have been ruined by years of curries and chilies. If your taste buds are still intact you'll probably enjoy it.

great food, I enjoyed the chicken fingers, fries and sauce very much. Nice and fresh. Quick service and surprisingly fast turn over of diners not having to wait for a table. I like their reward card deals.

It was my firs time and they made a big deal of it ... so that was fun. Straight forward chicken fingers that are cooked right. The Box is a generous meal and I like the cole slaw too. I'll be back.

THE. BEST. CHICKEN. FINGERS. EVER. And the sauce is amazing as well. And you can't beat a nice clean restaurant that plays all the best 90's hits. An all-around experience. You'll never want to go anywhere else for lunch again.

  • Dane S.

I was warned/advised before I went that Cane's was addictive. My friend Tom frequented the place when we both worked together, and through natural curiosity, I asked him what he thought of Cane's. Tom's response: "Crack." So I knew what I was getting myself into when I bought my first basket of Chicken Fingers, fries, Texas toast, a Coke, and a small container of Dipping sauce. The scalding hot, freshly fried chicken is a good start, the toast and fries are not beyond their measure, but the sauce. THE SAUCE!! This must be where they put the narcotics. I found myself putting it on the toast, dipping fries in it, and gushing over it. Before I knew it it was gone, the high over. I felt fat, full, and happy. Soon after, I found myself frequenting Cane's often. Tom and I would go over together. They know him by name. I'm sure I'm not far behind. So Cane's is my drug dealer. Thankfully/unfortunately, unlike narcotics, Cane's doesn't lose it's punch over time. So here is my warning to you. Cane's is a Drug. Crack. Know what you are getting yourself into. And eat up.

Went with hubby and both kids for lunch one Saturday. The chicken was good and HOT! The batter/breading kept wanting to slip off the chicken though and was not crispy but rather, soft and soggy. The fries were fries, nothing to write home about. The sauce was really tasty. Coleslaw was coleslaw. Texas toast was Texas toast. The kids were not really into it. I guess since they only do chicken strips, I was kind of expecting different flavors of chicken strips and maybe more dipping choices. I expected too much.

  • Adam S.

It's decent, but not 5 star worthy IMO. Sauce is Mayo, Ketchup, Worchester Sauces, Garlic, and black pepper. It's not earth shattering. If they had hand cut fries, it would move them up a notch, but chain's use sysco fries. They're ok, but not great. I like the texas toast, it's my favorite part of the meal. I always skip the slaw, usually get 3 finger combo....if i get 4 finger w/ 2 sides, i just get 2 pieces of toast. Chik-fila in coffman is cheaper and I usually go there.

One of my most favorite restaurants. I would say that this is some of the best fried chicken I have ever had. I live 2 blocks away from this Cane's and it's hard for me not to go there a few times a week. I personally pass on the coleslaw and get a second piece of Texas toast instead.

I had to drop #1 son off at U of M hospital for an MRI, so I had an hour or so to kill. If you've been over there the construction allows no parking at all on Delaware. So I drove around looking for a spot at 3PM to sit with my latest mystery. One right in front of that beautiful red sign. Of course I remembered reading the reviews. I had a late breakfast, and it's also still lent. The last few weeks are the worst, and note to self don't watch the food channel late at night. It's all the burger places in the country. So to justify this trip I order 1 finger, no sauce and a lemonade. The key is deprivation here. I use the bathroom while I'm waiting. A nice, large single bathroom. I was waiting for them to tell me it's down some long communal hallway. This in itself warrants the extra star considering I didn't get a full meal. Two food obsessions I have, cole slaw, this was gross generic crap. My latest favorite is at Anchor of all places. Next lemonade, I asked if it was from a mix. Oh no, we do our own. Then I look up to see this huge bowl of lemonade rippling around. I get to the car, take a sip. One of those close your eyes drinking moments, only to find crushed ice in addition. This wasn't the devils delight, it was me being forgiven for that chicken finger.

I forgot this place even existed until I saw another review. It is pretty good though, very, very small menu! I'm not sure what I feel about it though. In fact, I was actually shocked when I saw how small their menu was! I was in here over a year ago now, so I am not sure if they've change or anything. Overall, I was satisfied with my chicken strips. I did not try their "special" sauce. I'm not too into weird concoctions of condiments, that are suppose to make some Delicious tastiness. Comparing it to Chick-Fil-A in Texas, this place ain't shit. I know that is an unfair statement though, however, they are pretty much the same type of fried chicken. I do feel, with a little more spice, or a little more flake, Raising Cane's could possibly deserve another chance!

If I could tell you how many hours the students at the University of Minnesota have spent trying to debate what the actual ingredients of Cane's Sauce are, or trying to find appropriate adjectives to describe it because it is so ridiculously savory, I would probably be rich. But I can't. I have never had chicken strips like the ones that they serve at Cane's. But they are just fantastically crispy and you don't ever have to worry about having to bite into a weird place of meat, which can be a real threat with other strips. The crinkle fries are always a nice accompaniment and the toast that comes with the meal is also a quality-touch. I also really appreciate the fact that they have sweet tea. I usually order the whole affair to go, but Cane's is tasty everywhere. Its also nice that they throw your box into a bag, rather than expecting you to tote a styrofoam container bursting with food around campus in your bare hands. I'm under the impression that its a southern chain and am perenially tickled by the really bizarre stuff they have hanging on the walls - like Chuck Norris' code of ethics.

The chicken and the sauce are dat deal got to have that toast I am not a big fan of their coleslaw so I get extra sauce or toast and washing it all down with some sweet tea or lemonade you can't lose!

The reviews are right on for Cane's. Pretty good chicken fingers but the sauce is just amazing. Who knows what goes in it but it's really good. Plus they have a picture of Yanni on the wall. We were in Dinkytown for a basketball game and Cane's was the perfect pregame meal.

MMMMM chicken. I have only been to the deep south once, but on that memorable trip I saw many establishments that touted fried chicken and sweet tea. This place is definitely authentic. On top of that, its really really really good friend chicken. Really good. And the sauce? *drool* Now, I cannot eat this sort of thing much. My generally very low sodium/fat diet makes my tummy balk at deep fried things. But I have to say this stuff is worth a tummy ache now and then. For health reasons I won't say eat here everyday. But a person shouldn't miss out on really good southern-style chicken, a girl has to live a little. Give the magic chicken a chance, you very likely come back time and again.

I love me some Cane's and heres why: The chicken fingers are the best Ive ever had, and its kind of one of my favorite foods. But they should be the best, thats all Cane's serves. Good sweet tea, good bread and crinkle fries with your order. Always clean, service is good. Cane's Sauce is damn good. Chicken fingers are always moist and delish...All around, great place for fast chicken fingers from heaven.

So so so so sad we don't have this in Chicago. Hands down best chicken EVER. I have never once had dry chicken when I visit this location. The Raising Cane sauce is addicting as well. However, I think the toast is my favorite part since it's all buttery and crispy. Yum. If you're in the area or want some GREAT chicken tenders, definitely, come here.

This place is pretty good, if you can get past the greasy chicken. My nieces and nephews love this place, so we are frequent customers and each time I would rate it about the same (3 stars). The French fries are very good (usually crispy and no added salt) and the canes sauce is actually pretty phenomenal (but I'm sure it something simple that I could make at home). I'm rating this place three stars for a couple of reasons; 1) it's always overcrowded (I know, not their fault, but hey it sucks). 2) the chicken is always super greasy and inhibits me from actually enjoying it. I will likely go back, as it makes for a quick meal with the kiddos and appeases almost everyone.

  • Mary N.

The raising cane sauce is a must try if you haven't tried it before. It's usually pretty busy around lunch time as well. Parking is a bit difficult. Staff is very friendly. Chicken fingers here are crispy and juicy. Fries are crunchy. Toast is soft and thick. Sweet tea, yes please. Since it is a bit busier around lunch, it's also hard to find seating, I suggest you take out.

  • Breanne K.

Cane's is one of those places that I find hard to turn down for lunch. Of the chicken fingers on campus, these are top of the food chain. Juicy, crunchy, and flavorful with that side of Cane's sauce! I usually end up with the Box Combo so I can have my Texas toast and coleslaw as well. This place is packed over lunch, but the employees do a great job of getting food out fast. Pro tip: Sign up for the Caniac's Club and get special offers frequently.

Finally got around to try this place. Stayed away because of the lack of free parking. Ordered the three piece with fries. I think I went in thinking it was going to be great, so I left a little disappointed. I'm a little older and I never grew up on chicken fingers so I don't have anything to compare them to. The fries were hot but nothing special to me, I prefer the hand cut variety, fried twice. The chicken was good, and moist, I think they could add some seasoning to either the chicken or the batter, seemed a little bland. The sauce wasn't anything special but it did complement the chicken nicely. Fast service, friendly staff. I think I'm going to search out the one off, local places for fried chicken.

  • Vy B.

I love their chicken fingers and coleslaw! It's one of the only locations in Minnesota so I'm pretty happy it's located on campus. Make sure to order the canes sauce for the chicken fingers and iced tea.

    (4)
  • Nichole K.

They know how to do sweet tea, I'll tell you that much. If you order sweet tea anywhere else in the midwest it is sorely disappointing - watery and barely sweet. Even at a place that boasts about being "Southern" *cough Dixies on Grand *cough* it was disappointing. Cane's does sweet tea right. They're chicken is really good; I can't say that I am totally blown away by it but it's pretty damn good.

It's not often you go to a restaurant with such a limited menu. But when you do, you expect the food to be delicious. Canes does not disappoint! If you're a fan of chicken tenders, you've got to try it! Additionally, on my last visit there my wallet fell out of my pocket. I called the next day to inquire about it, and they had found it! It was returned to me by the manager. Thank you again! Great food. Great service.

Best fast good chicken in Minnesota hands DOWN! I'm serious people try it! They know what they're doing get "The Box" me and my wife get the same thing everytime! Trust me don't get the caniac WAY TOO MUCH FOOD! The box comes with I believe three strips of chicken with caniac sauce! I can't explain it you guys but wow is it good!!! When we went to campus and brought people there everyone loved it! Tips if you don't like cole slaw like me ask to get extra bread, fries or etc they will do it! pros: great breaded chicken, amazing sauce to dip, great greasy buttered bread (fried on grill top) fries are just typical but good! The cup they give you has small crushed ice and brings out the flavor of the pop! My wife says there tea and lemonade is to die for! cons: not enough caniac sauce with meal! (was decided but 8 college guys)

Man I love this place! Best chicken fingers ever and always fresh!!! Menu is straight forward and I wish more places were like this. The Cain sauce is amazing! The cole slaw and Texas toast are amazing as well. Staff has always been friendly as well. Once they gave me a half sized chicken finger and when I brought it up they gave me 2 to replace it! Oh the sweet tea is freaking awesome!!!

How many big companies can you name that are built on a single product? A big business that sells only one product is an odd concept in the business world; especially in an age that having the option to choose among seemingly different (but truly similar!) products equates "freedom." (It's ironic; but sometimes freedom to choose among different brands is taken to be the same as political freedom!: "Freedom there? Come on! It's a dictatorship. They wear pants--not khakis, jeans, cargo pants, chinos, flat front pants, pleated pants, etc; let alone brands!") But seriously! How many big companies can you name that haven't given up to the temptation of expanding into new product markets? Crocs should be one. But still when you want to buy a pair of Crocs, you have a narrow freedom to choose among different styles/colors (and also the option to customize your Crocs with Jibbitz which has been acquired by Crocs). Michelin is probably another one. But they still manufacture different types of tires for not only cars but also bikes, and planes. Isn't it then true that even in this exceptional milieu of single-product business, Raising Cane's is an exception? It's to my understanding an exception of exceptions! Virtually no choice here: They only offer chicken fingers (and few sides). It's why when the founder attended an MBA class at LSU and submitted a business plan for a chicken-finger-only restaurant as the final course project, he got the lowest grade in the class (a B minus!) and when he took his business plan to banks for a loan, it got rejected. The menu is surprisingly small: the only thing you could order is chicken fingers. The rest is trivial: whether you want the chicken fingers on their own, in a sandwich, or with sides (Cane's Sauce, Texas toast, fries, and coleslaw). Neither do they give you that many options for sauces... or they do, but it's not officially on their menu. The majority of customers get the Cane's Sauce (which is delicious but a bit salty) and only if you ask, they may tell you that you can have honey mustard too. The quality is groovy for a fast-food place. I believe it's a crime to put KFC and Cane's in the same category. We usually take our order to go. But from what I've seen, it's a neat place mostly frequented by university students. The staff are very enthusiastic and friendly and the service is fast (fortunately not as fast as McDonald's!) Also, we only order fingers (usually 6 or 8 fingers for both of us with no sides except for a Cane's or honey mustard sauce so we can feel happy that we're "healthy"!!) We know that fried chicken is not good for us. But sometimes you can't resist the temptation! The only thing we can do to make up for the unhealthy fried food we consume is to make sure that the amount of food we order is less than the smallest combo item. They've said on their website that they are "in the process of performing nutritional value testing on the food" they serve. I hope they soon come up with some low numbers for guilt-feeling customers!

Cane sauce...no thank you But thats why people go right...I went for the hot crunchy yet juicy chicken strips...and sweet tea. yum yum. I dont fry food at home so I appreciate when restaurants do. BEST SWEET TEA IN THE TWIN CITIES More condiments are needed at this restaurant. I dont eat mayo or mustard base dipping sauces so no canea sauce or hkney mustard for me but ketchup is just fine. Great music, clean friendly atmosphere. I would not drive from the suburbs to washington ave for cances but if im in the neighborhood and want something unhealthy and delicious ill come back for more.

I love the cane's sauce! it sure makes the meal! To be honest though, the fries completely suck. You should bypass the meal and go a la carte. Then you can get what you really enjoy for cheaper.

  • Anika C.

The best chicken finger I have ever had and the bread is amazing too! I miss this place so much since I moved away from Minneapolis area. If you are near campus and is looking for something greasy this is the place to go.

I don't know what all these reviewers were talking about. The strips are small and the chicken dry. A review said they had fried chicken (in addition to strips) and this was not the case. Chicken had no flavor and the sauce is basically lemon pepper mayo or something. Weird. I will say that the chicken wasn't greasy and dripping in oil but that's usually what keeps the moisture locked in. Disappointed and should have gone to Popeye's instead. The place was clean and other people seemed to enjoy it.

Good southern cookin! Authentic fried chicken with Texas toast, delicious cole slaw and the legendary Canes sauce. The box combo is reasonably priced and very filling. Fried chicken has the perfect crisp and still remains juicy.

Had another great meal @Cane's last week! The only thing, is that they keep it too cold in there. I'm uncomfortable. And, my food gets cooler, faster.

Best chicken strips around. But what puts them over the top is the dipping sauce, incredible.

One of my most favorite restaurants. I would say that this is some of the best fried chicken I have ever had. I live 2 blocks away from this Cane's and it's hard for me not to go there a few times a week. I personally pass on the coleslaw and get a second piece of Texas toast instead.

The reviews are right on for Cane's. Pretty good chicken fingers but the sauce is just amazing. Who knows what goes in it but it's really good. Plus they have a picture of Yanni on the wall. We were in Dinkytown for a basketball game and Cane's was the perfect pregame meal.

I love their chicken fingers and coleslaw! It's one of the only locations in Minnesota so I'm pretty happy it's located on campus. Make sure to order the canes sauce for the chicken fingers and iced tea.

I always eat at the one in Apple Valley. Something new and different. Not to many of them up here. Great Ice Tea and Lemonade. The Cane's sauce is good and overall the chicken strips are always tender and moist.

The best chicken finger I have ever had and the bread is amazing too! I miss this place so much since I moved away from Minneapolis area. If you are near campus and is looking for something greasy this is the place to go.

I love the cane's sauce! it sure makes the meal! To be honest though, the fries completely suck. You should bypass the meal and go a la carte. Then you can get what you really enjoy for cheaper.

I don't know how they do it, but this chicken literally melts in your mouth. Coleslaw & dinner roll are also great. The best part is the Canes sauce.
