This is my favorite bar in the area. I have had many good experiences here. These guys understand the importance of a proper Guinness pour and are consistent about it. The food is above average for a bar too. I highly recommend the Corned Beef Rolls for an appetizer or the chips and curry for a delicious dip. The corned beef rolls might be the best appetizer on a bar menu anywhere. I love them. The corned beef is made in-house and they are wrapped in boxty and served with a delicious slaw on top. The burgers are also quite good. I end up here a few days a week. We can always find a seat for happy hour even on Fridays.

I've been looking all over for a Full English or Full Irish breakfast. Finally had a chance to try the Irish Breakfast at Morrissey's. The atmosphere on a weekday afternoon was restrained, but the interior is very pleasant. "Irish-Pub-Chic", basically. I ordered the Irish Breakfast, and was absolutely not disappointed. A Full English usually doesn't include chips, but otherwise it was the same as this UK favorite. It comes with two eggs (I had mine medium, though next time it'll be sunny-side up), a rasher, two bangers, a slice each of black and white pudding, beans, potato bread toast, a stewed tomato and mushrooms. I was kind of hoping for whole button mushrooms, but these were sliced fine, though still delicious. Everything was great. The black pudding in particular was a standout. This was the most flavorfully spiced black pudding I've ever had, as was the white pudding. I almost suspect that they buy Polish or German blood sausage, since the British Isles versions I've had are usually fairly bland. The bangers were perfectly cooked - just a little crispy on the outside. My son ordered the Reuben sandwich, which comes open-faced on a single large slice of rye. It was just smothered in sauce and cheese, and he rolled his eyes when he took the first bite, it was so good. I was too full to try it. If the other menu items (mostly traditional Irish & English pub food) are anything like the quality of these two, it definitely warrants five stars. Really a first-class experience. Even though it's across town, I'll be back, and soon!

Arrived around 7pm on a Friday. We ordered a couple beers, Belfast burger, and chicken salad (can't remember exact name). Great experience, everything tasted good! This is a place I'd like to go back with a few friends, sit in a booth and toss back pints all night. Great atmosphere! Nice to have a small neighborhood hang out bar feel.

Not that Irish, but friendly service! When I first reviewed this restaurant, I wasn't too impressed with the service. After attending a networking event last week between 5-8pm, I was pleasantly surprised at how great the service has improved! Staff was knowledgable, friendly and even remembered our names with a ton of people in the bar. It's still a decent place to come and grab a drink before going out or a quick bite to eat if you're looking for some Irish-type appetizers before heading off somewhere else in the area for the full meal.

I went here on a Saturday afternoon for some pre-dinner food with friends. It was surprisingly busy. The decor is pretty cool - exposed ceiling beams and brick walls. Feels a bit on the rustic side as opposed to the forced Irish bars with shamrocks all over. We got the Chipotle dry rub wings and BBQ wings. The BBQ wings were good - kind of a sweet and savory flavor. The chipotle wings were hotter - my favorite of the two. I hear the fish & chips and burgers are very good as well but I didn't have it in me to order more. I'll definitely be back. I'd like to see this place at night and check out the live music they bring in.

I went to Morrissey's for the first time last Saturday with a group 10 and my 4 year old for dinner. Service was good (not great, but good). Decent selection of beers. The booze was strong for those that went that route. I thought the food was good and about what you would pay at comparable spots ($11.95 for fish and chips-again good but not great). My son was digging the Irish lads playing live music in the back corner. I'd love to go back again soon.

A great new addition to the Uptown scene. I have to say that the look and feel of this place was truely Irish! The food was great...the open faced reuban with what ever horsey sauce they had on it was by far one of the best I've tasted! I even had the chance to taste the fish n chips... big, thick pieces of fish with a thin crispy breading is really well worth going back for...I'll be back! Beer selection was good and from what I hear a growing whiskey selection is in the works..not that they don't have a great list already. Check it out people! This place is only going to get better with age :-)

This is a hip place to grab a few drinks with some friends and catch up. The atmosphere is your typical Irish pub but add some trendiness. The booths are cozy and it's dimly lit. They have a decent happy hour on drinks from 4-7 along with some food specials. (Be careful though because the tap beers listed on the beer tent aren't entirely accurate). If you're a whiskey lover, this place is your heaven!! They have so many different brands and types to try.... Who knew whiskey came in so many different "flavors"! I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of different foods the menu had to offer. I decided on the chicken salad wrap with French fries and didn't have a single regret. The fries were crispy, perfectly seasoned and delicious. The wrap was fresh and tasteful. We most recently stopped in on a Tuesday and came to learn that they do "Dj" trivia every Tuesday! That was a fun, pleasant surprise which led our entire party to have a couple more drinks than planned. The only reason I'm giving four stars is due to the service we received. Our waitress was not friendly at all and seemed like she didn't want to be there. She also declined to inform us of the happy hour, I ordered a Blue Moon (which is on the beer tent alongside all the other tap beers) and found out when my check came that it wasn't on happy hour since it's the beer of the month. So okay it was only two dollars more without the happy hour deal but I would have liked to have been made aware. It happens! I have a strong feeling I'll be frequenting this pub fairly often while living in uptown!

Charging a cover charge on St Patrick's day only and not allowing for food delivery or to go orders.

Morrissey's is an all-round good time, whether you just want to watch a game and drink, hear some live music, or play some trivia. I've seen the bar pretty empty at times (which I'm a fan of for selfish reasons), and I've also seen it packed with people out for a good time. The bartenders and wait staff are very nice. Good service even when it's crowded. Their boxtydillas are amazing and the bloodymarys are some of the best I've had in Uptown. I experienced St. Patty's day there this year and it was the most fun I've had since moving to Minneapolis 6 months ago.

Great place at night and for breakfast too. I recently went for breakfast and was impressed. Better than you'd think. They wouldn't serve me though because apparently I looked too young even with ID (I'm 26) and they were worried I'd give the drink to my 16 year old cousin I was eating breakfast with??? It's a fun place at night too (from what I remember).

Great to have a neighborhood bar in Uptown that is not full of young clubbers or hipsters. Safe for old people like us. And great fish and chips -- even Heavy Table says so. Fine place to hang out and avoid the crowds.

I was there with some friends today, January 18 and the play offs game was on. There was a worker who seemed to be off duty, blonde curly hair, who was stomping every time something happened in the game. It was extremely disruptive and I shared this irritation with two other customers there. The floor would literally shake and no one told her to stop until the last minute of the game. It was toddler tantrum behavior. That kind of thing completely out shines any food or drinks we had, which were fine, the bloodys were bland the fries were good. Our waitress was unenthusiastic but got the job done. Either way, we will not be coming back. A woman left when we did and commented on it as well. They said they weren't coming back either. A silly thing yes but extremely irritating. Just because you're an employee does not mean you should behave that way. It affected customers. We were not pleased and we were not the only one.

Stumbled upon this place while looking for food after visiting my favorite tobacconist next door (Golden Leaf) courtesy of a random yelp search. Providence smiled upon myself and my friends this day, we lucked upon a fantastic establishment. The ambiance is excellent. Almost every piece of furniture is made from wood, giving it a nice rustic, almost old world vibe. It does lend to echoing, so it's a bit noisy, but not overly so. Quality conversation was still held. Well stocked bar, comfortable seating, hard to ask for more. I ordered the Irish Breakfast. (Eggs, bangers, rasher, black and white pudding, mushrooms, chips, and toasted potato bread. I opted to subsitute the grilled tomato and baked beans for the colcannon mashed potatoes.), My compatriots ordered the shepard's pie and the curry chips (both pretty much exactly what they sound like). Every item was fantastic. The curry was thick and spicy, the chips were all around well seasoned and perfectly crispy, the bread was fantastic, the bacon was cooked just right. Alas, there was one blemish on the whole experience. The service was... sluggish, to put it delicately. Far from the slowest I've ever had, but it was pretty noticeable despite being almost empty when we arrived. But, that aside, it's still more than worth going to. The quality of food and ambiance more than make up for that minor shortcoming. Sadly, we were there too early for the live music, a problem I intend to remedy as soon as i make it up to the twin cities again. Definitely cannot recommend it enough! And if you want a delicious smoke, walk the twenty feet to Golden Leaf next door!

Horrible service. First the waitress was rude. A girl in the place ended up throwing up all over people in our party because she was overserved. Nothing was done. No one responded. In fact, they let her stay and gave her a beer... We received a bill for food we couldn't eat due to smell of the throw up. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. Serious customer service issues and priorites in business practices.

Morrissey's Chipotle Dry Rub wings are my new favorite thing. I'm normally more of a saucy wing gal but the spicy chipotle rub, crisp skin and juicy, perfectly cooked chicken have converted me. I am powerless to order them whenever I'm here. I want them in my mouth right now. I like to pair them with a Hoprita, a unique drink made with Sweet Child of Vine and white whisky. Sort of a masculine play on the Margarita. I could drink those delicious (and strong!) cocktails all evening. The Irish Cheese Dip and Wedges are also worth a try (yummy, cheesy goodness), as are the Fish and Chips (light and crispy breaded cod fillets paired with delicious fries). Unfortunately I can't speak to their other food offerings as the wings are located near the top of the menu and my eyes refuse to wander elsewhere.

Been here twice now and both times were great. The turkey sandwich is delicious (though a bit small) and the burger with egg (add bacon!) was amazing. Not the best Happy Hour deals (their rail whiskey was great, though) but the food and drink are delicious.

My girlfriend and I came here last night and it was pretty busy for a Sunday night with only one server on. My girlfriend went to the bathroom right away and I sat down and ordered a beer. Our server came back to drop off my beer and walked away without ever asking my girlfriend if she wanted anything or giving us menus. I was able to drink my entire beer without the server ever coming back. We ended up leaving cash on the table and walking out. I get that she was getting slammed, but at least acknowledge us and explain that you're busy and apologize. My beer was great though.

This is a great Irish pub for the most part! The pub has has an old world feel with dark bare wood beams and furniture, and the toned down almost dark lighting is really great! The service was very friendly and our waitress was really funny! That in of itself made for a great evening. The live Irish music was really good! I had the fish and chips ... They were absolutely fantastic! Best I've had in quite awhile ! My only complaint is the lack of a good dark beer / stout selection. When I'm at an Irish pub I expect to have a really good variety of dark beers. Not the case here.... At at least that is what the waitress said. When I initially asked for something really dark, I got an amber of some sort. When I asked for darker , she said they had Guinness and that was it. The bar is an awesome place with fun staff and a great feel. It is a MUST visit !

My favorite pub in uptown. They have live music nightly and the first time I ever came here, there happened to be several Irish patrons just hanging out that had a jam session. They were not scheduled talent and had never played together but they were amazing! Ok and now I'm realizing I could have been the most gullible person there? Who knows, regardless... I love this place. Drinks are stiff, service is amazing and the food is awesome too! I usually get the Dublin chicken but the beef stew is just like my mom used to make. My bf and everyone I have brought here loves this place. They have a great sense of humor.,.. There used to be a cross stitched sign that read "please don't do coke in the bathroom" it was hilarious.... Even better.... Someone stole the sign and in it's place is an empty frame and written in sharpie is a note saying.... "See, this is why we can't have nice things" The whole thing cracks me up, everyone is nice friendly and down to earth. No pretentiousness just a few people hanging out having some beers:) love it!

Went on a whim last night and it was the best decision I've made in a while. In all honesty, my husband and I pretty much despise every new bar that has opened in our Uptown neighborhood over the past few years for reasons involving snooty clientele, expensive overrated food, and, well, hipsters. I never would have thought I was in Uptown in this place. The food is amazing and priced accordingly. I'm so excited I've been drooling thinking about their corned beef rolls. Might go back tonight! Our first server was very welcoming and enthusiastic, the late night server was mediocre, but still managed to help us. The live music was an added bonus as well. Just hope this place stays hidden from the Uptown Hipster crowd.

Walked over here since it's close to a friends apartment. The live music was playing and the drinks were flowing! Didn't try much of the menu - just Guinness, Surly, and the Corned Beef roll appetizers. The place itself was neat and clean, but filled to capacity. Somehow though the bathroom lines were pretty short and the facilities were clean. The band played celtic music as well as some more traditional songs. The appetizer was very good - we even ordered a second plate of them. Very good corned beef, with a nice amount of meat in the rolls. Quite a few of them on the plate too. If they served them with a side of mashed potatoes or veggies you could call it a meal. Had a fun time here. Prices were reasonable for the drinks and the food. Festive atmosphere, and live Irish music. If that's what you're down for, you'll probably have a great time!

Walked in here at 10 a.m. hungover as all get up. The bartender might as well have been a doctor to us 7 guys realizing we were on a bachelor party weekend. Poured me a Guinness and ordered the steak and eggs. For like $10 I had a better steak that many steak houses. The conversation, atmosphere, decor, beer, food, and service was spectacular. I will definitely be back. I wish there was a Morrissey's in Green Bay. I'd never leave.

The tater tots are SPOT ON! The seasoned sour cream perks them up a little, but their delicious on their own too. To be honest, my guilty pleasure is coming here when I've had a bad day. The Irish Potato Soup reminds me of a potato soup varietal my Grandmother used to make on rainy or sick days. It's savory, with the perfect balance of leek and spice- absolutely necessary with potato soup, which can be bland if not prepared properly. The prices are fair, and they have a house-made cocktails list with some new drinks to try. Parking is on the street, so don't be afraid to troll Lyndale/Lake Street for a Parking Spot. I seem to have wonderful luck, others may not. Overall, you should come check it out. The live music rounds out the great ambience.

I really like coming to this place on Friday nights. It is more of a relaxing environment (compared to the big bars) so you can sit, have a couple of beers, and hang out with friends. Has had live music every time we have gone and usually there are a few people who get up and dance - that's what we like best! Good beer selection and their tater tots are delicious!! Definitely recommend for a fun weekend night out!

Eh alright. I had the potato soup and it didn't have chunks of potato. Weird consistency. Menu lacked variety. Great bar for beer and whiskey though. Quite the menu for that. Our waitress was nice but kept messing everything up. Very frustrating. Street parking. Have to pay. Probably wouldn't go back.

This place is fantastic! The staff is one of a kind for sure. I have worked in customer service for years and can tell when someone is being fake nice and when people are just genuinely nice. The staff is wonderful. They talk to you like a friend would. I went there yesterday with a co-worker and Bueller was our bartender. He was so cool. Made jokes, suggested drinks, food and general life advice. Such as "Down town sucks." Which I fully agree. I ordered a Irish cheese burger and that sh** was on point!! Delicious!!!! The outside of the building says "live music" so when there is such a thing going on, don't complain about the noise. It's an Irish bar with badass staff, great food and great drinks. What more could you ask for? Check them out, say hi to Bueller and tip them REALLY good. Anyone working in customer service should know it's a very hard and demanding job. These guys knock it out of the ball park for reals!!

I like everything about this place. The beer selection, the Irish pub fare, and superb service. The décor is nothing fancy, but it's welcoming none the less! Irish Cheese Dip & Wedges, crispy and cheesy! YUM. The Corned Beef Rolls were also tasty with a touch of horseradish.

I've been here seven or eight times over the summer having just moved into the area. The drinks have always been strong, the service top notch, and the food is exactly what your neoghborhood Irish pub food should taste like. We decided to catch the world cup final at this establishment to avoid the crowds at the Nomad and Brits. It was packed, but the server went back to the kitchen, grabbed a table, and made us an impromptu table close to the tv. We even went back last night for some apps before catching the opening ceremonies of Shark Week on the Discovery Channel, the server made some crack about a bloody mary being the most appropriate drink to the occassion. I love this place.

We went here on a Thursday night around 11:30. We were greeted by a friendly bouncer at the door to check our ID's and we walked right in and found a seat right at at the bar. The bar hasn't been open for too long so it still smelled of fresh cut wood and new paint on the walls. I would described the interior as if an Irish pub and a good old Minnesota up north bar had a baby and decided to raise it in the heart of Uptown. They had a gentleman playing some traditional sounding Irish music with a modern flair in the corner of the restaurant area on his guitar. It added a nice cozy, welcoming feeling. We ordered the 2 Ginger's Whiskey Chicken wings and they were very tasty. They had a wide selection of Irish Whiskey's to choose from. They had a good beer selection as well. The bartender was very attentive to our needs and was friendly and very personable. I liked Morrrissey's because it's not like your typical Uptown bar - it wasn't full of hipsters or tourists - granted we went late on a Thursday evening. I would recommend giving Morrissey's try!

Morrissey's has a lot of potential. The decor is great, tap beer selection top notch, and pricing isn't bad. They have TVs and when I was there were showing 3 different events. They pipe in modern Irish music aka Flogging Molly, which is great. The table service needs to pick it up - I eventually started just walking up to the bar because it was to the point that I needed to order my next one when the waiter dropped off the last one (not exaggerating). I had the fish and chips - which were well made but there was a bit of excess grease that soaked the fries underneath the fish. Park on the street. Uptown finally has a true pub!

The best part about this place is that it is right in the middle between fancy and dive, just a good old bar to hang out and have some drinks, conversation and snacks. A nice addition to the neighborhood. The FRENCH FRIES are awesome.

Had an extraordinary time at Morrissey's last evening! It was my first time there, my sister had been before and highly recommended it so my expectations were high, and I'm glad to say I was not disappointed. The drinks were affordable, with an ample selection of beer and liquor as well as some very tasty appetizers we sampled. The service was top-notch, with pleasant and attentive bartenders who also happened to be great looking which never hurts.. :D We also had the opportunity to hob-nob a little with two of the bar's proprietors who proved to be charming, affable gentleman, and I'm sure their management style plays a large part in the bar's relaxed, fun-loving atmosphere. The place filled up quickly but was never packed to the point of discomfort, with a diverse crowd predominantly composed of hip, attractive twenty-somethings but also a liberal smattering of baby-boomers and seniors rounding things out nicely. I live in Los Angeles so sadly it's going to be a little while before I can return, but I am most definitely planning on patronizing this fine establishment the next time I am in town! For those lucky enough to live in the area I can't recommend frequenting Morrisey's highly enough, I would be absolutely shocked if you did not have positively exemplary experiences every time!

Finally! A great concept that actually has a solid chance of making it, at what seems like a cursed location. For the last three years, I have watched this place change names/hands three times - the Favor Cafe, Los Lagos, and Viva Brazil. What makes this place so different??? Well, they actually did more than just a fresh coat of paint. The interior is completely redesigned and refreshed inline with the concept of the venue - an irish pub. And they opened just ahead of a major Irish/American holiday, in an area that had an underrepresentation of Irishness - Uptown. Walking up, the place was packed. I think there might have been more people in the place than visited Los Lagos and Viva Brazil combined in their lifetime. Inside is open, bright and very much like a pub with exposed wood and no frills. There is even a stage at the far corner, which is blocked by the line to the bathrooms, that I suspect could host a band. Oh the bathrooms. Honestly, the only reason this place lost a star. As a woman, I am used to standing in line for a bathroom. But when I have to share that line with men, complaining about the number of "holes" in the men's restroom, and then trying to avert my eyes because they decide to share the facility and not to shut the door...I know it is bad. Not to mention the language discrepancy - Lads and Ladies. Both plural terms for singular accomodations...and if we wanted to stay authentic yet ignore the number, it should be "Lassies". Definitely some confusion and room for improvement here. Otherwise, my first visit was a great one - they have a great selection of tap beers and a full bar. I saw a few people eating, but did not yet have an opportunity to try the food. The space is great, open and fresh - with great wood in the ceiling and exposed brick throughout. Plenty of tables for groups and a great bar to hang by. You really do get a pub feel with the added bonus of great windows to keep tabs on the Lake Street traffic. I'm excited for this new addition and really believe that it has the staying power that the others were lacking. Good luck Morrissey's - I know I will be back and encourage others to check it out as well.

CLASSIC. This place is legit. The owner is from Ireland and is a pleasure to talk with. The beer selection is perfect and the food is spot on. This place can get a little crowded but the service is friendly and accommodating. Highlights: Shepherd's Pie Beer Morrissey's Irish Pub = Cozy

I'm excited for an Irish Pub in Uptown. I went in on their second night and it wasn't too bad. It definitely has potential, but needs to work out a few kinks. 1) It's a little small, or felt like it anyway. All seating/bar area was taken and there wasn't a good area to just stand with your beers. You always felt like you were in the way. 2) I like the ambiance. The decor is nice. They had live music when we were there. However, they didn't turn on any background music when the band took a break, which was awkward. 3) The service was good, but needs time to work some things out. We just went to the bar, but the table we were near had ordered Irish Car Bombs. They dropped the shot in before bringing it to their table (so it was curdling). Not such a great move for the staff of an Irish bar. But, they apologized and admitted they made a mistake. The patrons, however, were complaining loud and obnoxiously even after the waitress comped the drinks, so that was annoying. 4) The food looked/smelled really good. I'd go back, but it was ambitious to open St. Patty's weekend. Once they get their sea legs, I think it will be a nice addition to Uptown.

This place has a beautiful interior and was nice and cool on a hot summer day. However, they don't have much choice of cider (Crispin). Also, I had the fish and chips. While the chips were tasty, about half an hour after I ate, I got very sick to my stomach. Something tells me that the oil that was used to deep fry the fish and chips must have been rancid. I probably won't be returning to this place.

We went last Friday with a small group to check this place out. This review is only based on our experience ordering drinks and hanging out - we didn't order any food. We had a pretty negative experience overall, but because this place just opened and maybe they're working out some kinks, I'm going with 3 stars. Whenever I head to a new bar that claims to be Irish, my hopes are astronomically high that I'll find THE Guinness. That perfectly poured, creamy, smooth pint that haunts my dreams.... sigh. (Disclaimer: My hubs is from Ireland, I lived in Ireland, I've been to St. James Gate, and I know it'll never be as good in the US... but I need a fix between Ireland trips.) This was 100% not THE Guinness. I usually try asking the server/bartender if people like their Guinness because 1. I'm annoying and 2. It gives me a head's up if they don't gush about it, the Guinness is going to be less than stellar. The waiter looked at me like I had two heads and said "yeah...?" and went on to inform me that beer tastes like the barrels it's in, so all Guinness will taste the same. Uh-oh. Bad sign. It was undrinkable. Normally I feel like I can describe what's wrong with the Guinness I try, but this... there are no words, except maybe...earwax? In the history of our relationship, the hubs and I have never before been to a bar before where neither of us finished our pints. You know it's serious when an Irishman doesn't finish his pint. Beyond the Guinness, the service was lacking. Our beers took a long time - which is fine with Guinness, but others at our table ordered other things that arrived flat and warm, as if they'd been sitting on the bar for quite a while. The server never came back to our table after dropping off the drinks. I think we would have complained about our Guinness after tasting it if we'd been able to get his attention. Our friends finished their drinks and weren't able to order a second round. I'd say their glasses and our waters sat empty for more than 20 minutes. We had to flag him down to get the check, and it still took quite a while to get that after asking. Maybe they were busy and he was overwhelmed? Maybe he flat out forgot we were his table? Maybe this is something that'll improve once they've been open longer. Things I like: - They serve half pints. - The food that people around us ordered looked pretty good - The sign outside the bathrooms was pretty funny... All in all, I'd love to come back and give this place another shot. Maybe we'll come back in a month or two for dinner. I think this is a great spot for a homey Irish bar, and hopefully they'll do well.

Love it, though that wasn't the case when it first opened. Went on St. Patrick's Day and was told they didn't have chicken for the chicken sandwich AND I couldn't get tater tots instead of fries (even though they're the same price on the menu). Opening week issues, apparently. MUCH better experience the second time - the chicken is great and they changed the 'no substitutions' policy. My husband enjoyed the fish and chips. This is a great addition to Uptown!

Really good fish & chips! The first time ever when a restaurant said "lightly breaded" and really meant it. The Reuben was first rate with lots of corned beef and yummy sauce (not Thousand Island). FULL bar with all the whiskey you can name.

I ran across Morrissey's after the restaurant that I was attempting to go to was suddenly out of business. I went in not expecting to stay more than an hour or so and we ended up spending about 4 hours here. I really enjoy their fish and chips, which comes with a dill tartar sauce. They have a good beer selection and tend to have some of the harder to find beers. They have live music Thursday through Saturday night (maybe Sunday too but I'm not sure.) It starts about 9:30 and is usually pretty entertaining. The servers are attentive and keep checking in to make sure you're doing ok. This is a nice neighborhood place that I have now been back to several times and have taken people visiting from out of town here as well. This bar has a great atmosphere that I highly recommend.

Don't get me wrong this is a great place for drinks and weekend hangout. The food though....skip it, had wings and a sandwich and wish I haven't ordered food. Maybe I'll try the food one more time before giving up.

I know they opened a short time ago and that would typically make me inclined to be lenient with them, but I can't. Sorry. Your food is bland and your service is horrible, Morrissey's! Our waitress was a rude, stuck up, mean bitch. You're in service, the very least thing you can do is be nice. I know it's Irish food, but it tasted like potatoes with nothing sauce. Disappointing. Also, there are very few places to sit.

If you are looking for a true irish pub owned by true irish people, this is the place. Great atmosphere, great beer and whiskey selection, friendly people and great owners! And the food is excellent. Highly recommend the fish and chips and corned beef rolls. Love this place!

$3.50 for a cup of coffee? Are you kidding me? The fries were so salty neither my wife nor I could eat them. Definitely not returning. Place was not busy, but still took a L-O-N-G time to get waited on.

Yum. An atmosphere that is a welcome oddity in uptown: warm, pub-ish, and a $4 glass of Cabernet on a Friday night. Recommend the chicken salad wrap with tots.

Great selection of both food and booze, and while none of us were really hungry when we went there the food passing by our table certainly looked tasty. The prices seemed a little high to me for a pub, but based on smells and presentation, they might be justified, I look forward to finding out when I go back. The noise and lighting levels were really great, even with live music going (oh, also, yay for live music!) it wasn't all that difficult to hear everyone at a large table talk. The servers were great and even put up with our lame jokes, and switching tables once our group suddenly went from four to eight. Two unisex bathrooms makes the line go much faster for us women, but probably slows down the guys a bit. As someone who wins in this compromise, I approve.

Something new for uptown and feels like it has been there for a while! It is a great fit for the area and always have a great time at the pub. It is a perfect sized pub for uptown and everything about it is great. The food is the best you will get in uptown ( Try the fish and chips, Salmon bites or the chicken blue salad). The happy hour and lunch specials are probably the best you will get around the area. They have a great stage in the corner and the music on weekends adds to the charm of the place. It is never too loud and just perfect to listen to music but also carry on a conversation with your friends. The staff obviously love working there too, they smile and are personal with you. When you see them having fun it is hard not to enjoy your time in the pub. I live close by the area and the pub is a great addition to the place. The big windows, old woodwork, great beer selection and fair prices are just some of the reasons I like stopping down for a happy hour or after work drink.

Whoa man that was good! It takes quite a place to bring me out of yelp retirement. Morrissey's is that place. Great pub in Uptown, very welcome addition to the area!

The problem with Morrissey's is that some of their key items are just better at other Irish Pubs, but the service and atmosphere are spot on. I went for dinner with my boyfriend, and we sat ourselves. I'm never a big fan of this, because it usually takes a server awhile to figure out someone has sat in their section. That happened again here, but from then on the service was stellar. Our server was fast, attentive, and accommodating, and made the experience all the more enjoyable. I had the Rueben and my boyfriend had the Fish and Chips with a side of curry sauce (big up-charge for this btw), and we split a bowl of their potato soup. When it comes to the latter, the best I've had in the Twin Cities is at O'Donovan's, where the soup is full of chunks of potatoes. Here at Morrissey's, the soup tasted good but was kinda lacking on the potatoes. Plus it came with oyster crackers rather than any kind of tasty bread, which I didn't love. The Rueben was an open faced sandwich with horseradish sauce on it instead of thousand island. I was actually really disappointed by this. Because horseradish is so overpowering, they can't put a lot of it on the sandwich, which makes it really dry. I asked for more on the side but adding additional sauce just overpowered the rest of the ingredients. And frankly. I want to pick up my Ruben and eat it....why try to change a classic? If you want an awesome Rueben, go to Kierans. The fish and chips were excellent however, and the beer selection was solid. In addition, they played Irish Punk music the whole time, which my boyfriend and I really enjoyed.

I've had several different food items here, and they've all been reliable, hot, fresh, and delicious. A great, well-balanced beer selection, and I love that they are more about Powers whiskey than Jameson. The staff all seems to love working here, which is always a good sign, and that enjoyment is reflected in the service. I know they're still new, but I think they're one of the most underrated places in Uptown!

Two stars: "Meh. I've experienced better." This is the PERFECT description for this bar. I went there with my boyfriend last night for dinner. While the tap beer selection was decent, and the whisky list was extensive, it didn't seem too "unusual," nor did it seem like it was truly an Irish bar. We each ordered some whisky and a beer. The whisky portion was quite generous for the cost, which was pretty good. Beer prices were pretty standard for the area. The menu is "quaint" and has a variety of offerings, but nothing that really stood out. We started with a chicken wing appetizer. The wings themselves were sub-par. The "glaze" they used had little to no flavor, although the dipping sauce they brought was flavorful. Pretty "meh" chicken wings. Then we ordered our entrees. My boyfriend ordered the mussels, and I ordered the Shepherd's Pie. The mussels were decent, at least decent for frozen mussels. The broth was quite good, and the portion is a good size for the cost. The Shepherd's Pie, however, was not good at all. Absolutely flavorless. It was described on the menu as "Ground sirloin and vegetables in a rich beef gravy topped with Champ potatoes." Yes, it was ground beef. The vegetables were about two cups of peas, with the occasional carrot and onion thrown in. The "rich" gravy was bland as can be. It was covered by mashed potatoes, which is what "Champ" potatoes are. It came in a bowl that you would typically see French Onion soup served in, so not huge. I had to load this sucker up with so much salt and pepper to even get a modicum of flavor out of it. I finished it because I was hungry, but definitely did not leave satisfied. Apparently they have live music on many nights. The live music that started around 8pm was pretty loud and pretty awful. I'm just glad they weren't charging a cover. If I need a nice whisky, I'll consider going back, but otherwise, I plan on avoiding this particular establishment in the future.

The place looks nice and has a good selection of drinks. The bar staff are not very friendly and the happy hour, not so happy...pricey. Too bad really.
