Workers are incredibly nice. Huge variety, clean place, delicious baked goods. Plus, $1 churros, cmon el jefe.

Love their bakery. Would recommend getting pastries in early afternoon or later morning or your selection/options narrow down. Prices are very reasonable (I think it is around $1) but it would be helpful if they actually have a price list, which they don't on the self-serve side. On the self-serve bakery window, occasionally I find it odd that they don't have tongs to pick up the goods...maybe I'm a bit OCD but I would like to think other people haven't touched my bread before I scarf it down. Anyways, great bang for your buck. Try the corn/tamale muffin -- it is out of this world!

Marissa's bakery serves up fresh Hispanic baked goods and desserts. You pick your favorite selections, place them on a tray and check out at the counter. Everything is economically priced and the staff is friendly. I recommend the creamy caramel flan as well as the churro's (great texture and perfect level of sweetness)! Will definitely come back!!

Probably the best cakes in town if you can deal with the rude service. I always order my tres leches cake here because they are the tastiest and the decorations are so cute. You can no longer get a cute looking cake. Instead you can get a digital print off of a character or scene. My Spanish is mediocre so ordering a cake has generally been easy BUT be prepared for it to take 30 minutes as the owner serves every last customer before dealing with cake orders. At least the finished product is good.

One part bakery, one part food court, one part mercado; Marissa's kind of has it all. I usually start on the grocery side of things and get what I need for the week. Mexican Crema, chilis, and tortillas abound. The prices seem higher, but you're supporting a local store rather than a big chain, so take that into account. You're also not likely to get everything you need here, so word to the wise. I then swing over to the bakery on the corner and grab something sweet. Because I'm 7 years old in my mind sometimes, the cookies covered in sprinkles always tickle my fancy. But they have churros, croissant-type things, bread, and a million other baked goods. These aren't the ones you'll see elsewhere, so buyer beware. They are tasty, but not sickeningly sweet like our palates have sometimes come to expect. Then finally to the grill where they're making really tasty Mexican food. it's not the freshest around, and I didn't see any salsa to give my dish a little heat, but the flautas I had very pretty tasty and arrived quickly. It's easy to make multiple stops in one place for pretty much everything that I need in life.

I love this bakery, market, and taco cafe! I feel welcomed and I know I'm getting authentic bake goods and tacos! Also, a great place to practice speaking Spanish!

Rich tasting deliciousness, the opposite of over priced bakery shops. Can you get anything for $1.00 these days? At Marrissa's, YES YOU CAN! This is no hole in the wall, the place has been up and running for as long as i have lived here. A quaint bakery shop that reminds me of the same ones i frequented, a childhood filled with shitty memories. Everything is freshly baked as they run out. This is not one of those bakeries that tends to be more of a deli-counter experience, you go in, grab a tray and a pair of tongs and start filling. For a bakery shop they really have a scrumptious home-made Tres Leches, Dulce De Leche Flan and other cakes. Vast selection of Galletas, and freshly baked pastries that will have you wanting more. You can smell the Besos and Nuez Con Crema from a mile a way, the Concha is super delicious always, so is the Compechana and the Cuerno De Agave. The Empanadas De Pina remind me of home, How about a foot-long Churro? If none of this is appealing, pay homage to Marissa's Deli just a few feet away for some first-rate food from south of the border.

Best Mexican bakery in the twin cities! This bakery has tons of different kinda of breads you can find anything from salty to sweet. They also do wedding and birthday cakes. and its really cheap too!! I don't think I have ever purchased any bread over 2 dollars, most is a dollar or less. The best part of about this bakery is that it has a grocery store and restaurant attached to it as well. If your looking for hard to find south american foods this is the place to go. They specialize in mexican and south american products. The restaurant has great mexican fast food like tacos, tortas, burritos etc. its a great stop for lunch or even dinner.

I generally don't like Mexican baked goods. They're usually too dry, cake-y and bland, for my taste, with an oft-oversweet glaze or topping. Marissa's is the exception. I went there once by accident with a friend and now go back every couple of weeks. The churros are super. light and egg-y almost-creamy interior, and fried crisp but not burnt, and a little oily but not too greasy. Perfect and try the bread pudding-y thing. And the cheese danish if they have it. If they have the danish stuffed with ham and cheese, buy a dozen and freeze them. Seriously. On the other side of the store is the lunch/dinner cafeteria. The chicken mole is the best in town. Salsa a la Salsa circa 2004 may have had them beat, but that place changed its recipe or execution, I think. Nice balance of cocoa and chilis. Great consistency. Delicious. The burritos are also very good. Roasted pork and al pastor are pretty stellar. The atmosphere is that of a grocery store. Kitsch and irony don't do it for me, but it's an Ok place to eat a quick meal. And clean enough. Nice people work there. Helpful. Efficient. Give it a try.

Marissa's Bakery is a Mexican bakery in the same building as a little hole in the wall restaurant and a grocery store. If you go there bring cash and be ready to get by on either gestures or whatever Spanish you have. Only some of the staff speak English but all of them were friendly. It looks like Marissa's Bakery has a steady stream of customers. I've been into Marrissa's Bakery 4 or 5 times total and three times recently. I kept going back to "give it a fair chance." I don't really like it though I want to. I don't know if the problem is with Marissa's or with me. I have this idealized memory of what Mexican baked goods should taste like and this isn't it. Mexican bakeries were part of my childhood in the 70's, but nothing here tastes quite like what I expect. I don't know if Marissa hails from a different part of Mexico, or has adapted recipes to American ingredients (more wheat flour, less corn), or if the baking styles I remember are simply gone with the seventies. Some of the food tasted too dry to me, but maybe it was supposed to be this way? (The moist wet-bottomed cake and the flan in the cooler by the door were a big exception to this.) There were a few things I liked, though probably not enough to go back again soon. I'd tell you which items I liked but I can't figure out most of the names. There were labels but they seemed to have no relationship to what was on the shelves, because the stock kept changing even though the labels stayed put. Or maybe they just renamed everything each day!

I've been in search of a good tortilleria and this is it. BEST tortillas ever. They don't taste like much cold, but warm them up on the stove and they'll puff like good ones do and be absolutely perfect. Their little marrano pastries (pig-shaped gingerbread-like soft cookie-cakes) are also big winners. I see there aren't many reviews here so I guess it's a hidden gem.
