Great food and good service the couple of times I went. Wines are averagish and expensive for what they are. I used to be a wine buyer for a local wine shop, so I know more than the average crow about wine and price points. Overall party of four had two apps, four entrees, two desserts along with three glasses of wine each, bill was $300. Each time a chef has come to our table and asked if the food was good, which it was. Then we get the sales pitch for events featuring food and wine pairings. I'm here to hang not get the corporate obligatory sales pitch.

Had dinner last night at Louie's for restaurant week, we ended up just eating off the regular menu as we're not big dessert people. Being gluten free, I often dread going out to eat because of my limited options and getting the annoyed look from the server when I mention my allergy. Louie's has a ton of gluten free goodies, things that are naturally gluten free but also items that can be modified to be g-free. I was so happy to find that Calamari (something I've been craving for a LONG time but could never order) was available gluten free. Same with my meal, I had the Shrimp and Grits and they only remorse I had was not ordering 3 of the same plate! No stomach issues for me! Great location, complimentary parking is offered below the restaurant and a great wine list. Our server even put up with how indecisive I was and helped me make a solid decision. Definitely recommend to all my gluten free brothers and sisters.

Our Napa Valley experience meets Minneapolis! We loved our first experience at Louie's Wine Dive! Honestly, we did go in hesitant that it might not be a local place. The staff are all local, the Sommelier, Timothy, was awesome. I noticed Chef Patrick was out front of the restaurant for a good amount of time as well... which was impressive. Our food was great but the overall experience will have us going back and recommending this place to our friends. Feels like a fun, local place where they will remember you. We will be going back hoping it's consistent with our first experience... but I don't have any doubt that as long as Timothy is there working tables and making great recommendations and Chef Patrick is doing his thing- that it will not disappoint.

So we came with a Living Social deal so we were prepared to make the most of it. The cheese curd app were good but the sauces that came with them were ho-hum...... Which should never be the case with Serrano aioli as a feature!!! It went up from there though. The apple salad? Wonderful! The steak... The trout? Even better! The potato croquet was forgettable (some wasabi treatment would have been nice) but the Latice potato chips were melt in your mouth amazing.... And I am fully aware of how corny that sounds but I stand by it just the same.) The Apple dessert thingy? Meh. BUT our server rocked the joint on a very busy night and THAT is impressive! Will I go back? Absolutely!

The food, atmosphere, and service were all adequate. I had the calamari, a glass of South Australian Shiraz, and dessert. It was all good, but nothing super fantastic. I do recommend the calamari. I came with a fat girl appetite and they had skinny girl portions.

All the staff was welcoming, fun, & efficient. Very nice wine & beer selection, fun cocktail menu with 'fresh' ideas; food menu wasn't huge but somehow seemed to cover 'everything' & with flair, wanted to try several items! Can't wait to go back again, bring some friends! Our waitress 'Monie' did an awesome job & Chef Patrick was personable when we met him - & he clearly has found his passion! We could not find anything that needs improvement, job well done!!

Great food and Monie was a wonderful server.. ..had the country fried steak with breakfast potatoes....very good although I was disappointed they were out of the crab cakes for brunch!

Service was amazing here for brunch, great personalities, but the chef (I believe his name was Patrick) that day was horrible. Me and my party witnessed him drinking while working and, also, we ordered our meal and it was brought to us ice cold. After regretfully sending it back (we were in a hurry) it took almost just as long as it did to begin with to have it returned. Again, the meal was warm around the outside and cold in the center. We are fast as we were late and paid our bill. 0/10. Would not return.

My husband and I had such a fun time at Louies today. Happy hour all night Monday, delicious large pour wine and we split the house specialty pork gnocchi and Emily's Harvest salad. The gnochi were tender pillows of heaven in the most flavorful pork quartet and sauce. I could eat it everyday! The people there were friendly and great at what they do. we will definitely be back!

This is a great place for a date night! Food is unique and quite delicious!! Their chef makes wonderful dishes and changes the menu a few times a year! Their staff is very knowledgeable and helpful! We sat at the bar because it was busy and their Bartender Sam catered to all our needs and always had a smile on his face!

Stopped by Louie's for HAPPY HOUR because their web site touted a pretty good one. After being sat at the bar we found out the HAPPY HOUR is completely different than what is on the web site. Oh well, disappointed but what can you do. After saying HAPPY HOUR at least three times (just to make it clear we were there for HAPPY HOUR) the zealous sommelier some how got us to order two glasses of wine at $8 a pop, not really in the HAPPY HOUR realm of prices. Also a very nice cheese flight (appetizers are 25% off during HAPPY HOUR). Nice atmosphere, good service but felt a little duped by an out of date web site and an $8 glass of wine during my favorite hour, HAPPY HOUR.

Usually go for brunch however this time the biscuits and gravy were terrible. You get four biscuits with what seems to be cream of chicken soup poured ontop.

I have been here several times...always impressed by the food and wine chooses. Usually underwhelmed by service. Well not anymore!!! The cool fall weather has been good to lwd...the food was amazing...gnocchi And the diablo pasta...the fresh scratch soup (charred tomato) couldn't have been more perfect. Yum yum yum people !!!! To top it off, the service, from our waiter (tony) to the wine dudes (complete with samples and mucho education ) to the chef taking a special request for a future yummy not only into consideration but a promise ...yay!!! If service inside is this amazing, I'll be here all winter !!! Thank u!!

My friends and I met at Louie's for a casual lunch - and the luncheon salad was delicious. I had the Emily's Harvest Salad; the dressing was light and tasty and the salad just what I hoped it would be. The server suggested a nice California Chardonnay which was perfect. The relaxed atmosphere provided a great place to visit and the service and food were great. Anxious to return.

A great spot in the edge of uptown to try a bunch of wines from small boutique vineyards and to enjoy a great meal. I've been there twice now, once with a buddy and a second time with my wife and had a great meal and tasted a number of great wines. In my most recent visit they offered a fantastic seasonal soup, tomato basil with a delicious cheese crouton floating in the middle. Portion-wise it was quite small, but so was the price and it was a great taste of summer. My wife and I then shared a salad bursting with cranberries, apples, goat cheese and bacon served with a light vinaigrette over mixed greens. For our main course we shared the delightful house-made gnocchi with a rich bolognese made from sausage and pork. It was more than enough for the two of us and we left very satisfied. Of course the main feature of the place is all the great wines by the glass. Prices are really good and from my two experiences, quality is high.

I've visited Louie's Wine Dive on three occasions (dinner during Restaurant Week, a Yelp Elite event, and Sunday brunch with a large group), but I've had three completely different experiences. For the sake of fairness, I won't go into detail about the event since it was most certainly outside of the norm, but here's the lowdown on dinner + brunch. I love a good wine bar, and Louie's had recently opened prior to our first visit (during Restaurant Week), so I was excited to check it out. We began with a pitcher of sangria, and a round of appetizers. The sangria was a bit underwhelming, as it lacked much actual fruit...and isn't chomping on wine-soaked fruit part of the fun of sangria? At least the food started out with a bang...the shrimp bisque was jam-packed with flavor (although it could have used a few more chunks of shrimp for this seafood lover). For my main course I had the lamb, which was seared and served on a bed of mashed vegetables. It was a little rare, and could have used a bit more seasoning, but it decent. Entree envy really set in after I took a nibble of Island Boy's scallops, which were cooked and seasoned perfectly, so I began to think seafood may be a strong suit of theirs. We rounded out dinner with a couple of desserts--a fruit tart and a key lime shortcake, both of which were quite fantastic. After our first visit ended on such a high note (and the Yelp event was great as well), we were excited when Johanna V. decided to celebrate her birthday over brunch at Louie's. No brunch is complete without mimosas, which Louie's offers plenty of. Their mimosas are $6, but if you're gonna dive in to at least two, you can go bottomless for $12 (and come on...it's champagne and fruit juice we're talking about here, so one is NEVER enough)! What's even better is the variety of flavors they offer, including classic orange, grapefruit, cranberry and grape. They're all delicious and become more so with every glass! Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the mimosas or our previous visits. I was in the mood for a hearty breakfast, so I opted for the biscuits and gravy, while Kash kept the seafood trend going with the crab cake benedict. Perhaps our hopes were too high or we waited too long for our meal (over an hour while the other 10 people at our table enjoyed their food), but the flavors and execution just fell really flat. The biscuits were way too heavy and tasted like they were straight out of a box, and the gravy was just flavorless white paste (not to mention it was cold by the time it was served). Kash's bennie wasn't much better, although hunger got the best of him and he actually ate it. I on the other hand threw in the towel and hit up a fast food drive thru on the way to our next destination...Sad, but true. I really hate having to complain, so thankfully our server picked up on our dissatisfaction (it was really hard not to), and she comped our tab. The rest of our table seemed to have a great experience, so I'm hoping it was just a fluke incident (or else they were too many mimosas in by the time the food was delivered that they didn't care). I'm torn on this one...I would really say overall Louie's deserves a 3.5, but since I can't award 1/2 stars I'll give them a nod to 4 for the fact that even though there was an issue, they took responsibility for it. A few random things to note: -Check out the Alice in Wonderland adventure in the back hallway--it offers the most entertaining trip to the bathroom. -A limited selection of wines are available by the glass, but if you commit to at least 2 glasses of ANY wine, you can get it by the glass instead of the bottle. (You can also find a list of open bottles available by the glass on the chalkboard wine wall). -Dogs are allowed on the patios--the one along Aldrich is covered and quieter than the sidewalk patio along Lake. -Limited free underground parking is available, which is accessible from Aldrich.

Louie's long has been the object of my scorn. I detest chain eateries. And, while no Olive Garden or Red Lobster, Louie's does have several other locations throughout the country. To me, this meant that Louie's was a spiritless place detached from the local community cranking out uninspired and mediocre dishes, like chicken alfredo or sizzling fajitas. In actuality, Louie's is quite a bit less dreadful than I'd assumed. On a gorgeous summer evening, we grabbed a spot on their (pet-friendly) sidewalk (Tip: snag a spot on the quieter Aldrich side versus Lake). The Uptown Meltdown caught my eye as a lighter dish - a cod sandwich on naan. It ended up not being a filet, but more tuna salad-like, just not gunked up with tons of oozy mayo. Served with herby shoestring fries. Incredibly flavorful and light and, dare I say, creative, particularly given Louie's chain status. Maybe even a 4 or 5-star meal. So, why a 3-star snub when the food was so delicious? Largely, the vibe, particularly inside, still has me down a bit - it's just that personal preference for locally-rooted businesses, and maybe others would take no issue here. Secondly, the prices are just maybe a tad bit much - though I'm a self-confessed cheapskate. But, overall, Louie's seems to have a pretty solid menu of offerings. My entire party of 5 left delighted. I might even consider an upgrade to 4...

Came here for Saturday brunch while visiting from out of town and had a great time! The service was great, the food was amazing and the bottomless mimosas for $12 made the weekend alcoholic in me very happy. I will definitely be coming back here next time I am in town! I recommend for brunch you try the country fried steak with the side choice of potatoes (some of the best breakfast potatoes I've ever had). Also, I did cranberry juice with my mimosas it was delicious.

Everything I'm looking for in a wine bar. Yummy salads, excellent selection of red wines, chill ambiance with good jams Update: well that was until the waitress ruined the ambiance by turning on the tv and blasted the volume :/ I prefer music

Louie's Wine Dive is hands down my favorite brunch spot in Minneapolis (sorry Bunny's) Let me tell you why: - The Croque Madame: the best breakfast - Bottomless Mimosas until 3PM, different flavors to choose from - Mac Daddy omelette: an omelette with mac and cheese, enough said. - Amazing breakfast potatoes that come with every entree - Patient and friendly staff, I can imagine a table of 6 girls drinking bottomless mimosas would be quite trying. Overall, a great place to have brunch. It's oddly empty a lot of the time which makes me sad. Give it a try!

I thought this place was just alright. I came in for happy hour and the place was strangely empty and a bit uncomfortable. After being seated, we eventually went to order wine before the sommelier came over and suggested a flight. While a good deal, it was a bit strange and we had no idea what it was going to cost or that flights were offered at all. The wine was good and the flight was fun, but the service was a bit uncomfortable. While we planned to order food, nothing on the menu appealed to us so we ended up getting food elsewhere. Overall a strange but not unpleasant experience.

Yet another Uptown Louie that fails to dazzle me. I love the thought of a wine bar seconds from my doorstep, especially in comparison to Spill the Wine (which is now closed) which I was not in love with. Louie's Wine Dive is an out-of-state franchise and that is so painfully apparent. The art on the walls is clearly non-Minnesotan. Which is fine! Except it's a generic city and farm-scape. Why not have local art (bonus: by local artists!!) on the wall? They've also added some Minneapolis-sounding menu items, but they don't make a whole lot of sense to me. Again, the out of state thing. The set-up of the space is weird and lends itself to awkward navigating of the restaurant. I get that they have to work with the space given, but why so many hidden "alcoves" and odd spaces? The service quite frankly always has sucked. Royally. I don't know if their motto is that wine bar = aloof, unavailable servers and bartenders, but that's the path they've always seem to have taken when I've been there. Their wine list is amazing. I will give them that. I always find things that I have loved and when I can get a bartender to talk to me (usually never in a reasonable amount of time...) they have given me good suggestions based on what I want to order. They're trying out DJ nights on Thursdays and Sunday nights and even though I am not in love with Louie's, I'll be back for that good music.

I didn't want to like this place and had been purposefully avoiding setting foot inside because I was convinced I would hate it. My reasons for this were completely irrational: I wrongly lumped this place in with what I refer to as the "douchinization of Uptown" as Louie's appearance happened around the same time as all of those atrocious, cheaply-made and overpriced apartments that crowd Lake Street and tend to attract, well, douchebags. I'm sorry for judging so wrongly. While I have seen a fair amout of douchebags as clientele, everything else about Louie's is pretty great. The staff is attentive and knowledgable. Having sat at the bar and overheard conversations held by the chefs I can tell they actually give a damn about the food they cook. The lobster poutine is freakin delicious. Sadly its the only thing I've tried so far foodwise, but everything I've seen go out has looked amazing.

It was my first time at Louie's Wine Dive this past weekend when I visited for a book club brunch with a group of 6 women. We were able to make reservations, since Minneapolis brunches tend to be popular but probably wouldn't have needed to since the restaurant had open tables all afternoon. Honestly for how not busy the place was, our service took quite a while. We all ordered the bottomless mimosas but each time there was refill needed it took about 5-10 minutes even though I could see the refill station from our table. That being said, towards the end they simply brought carafes for our table to refill as needed. The food was pretty terrible. I ordered an omelette and what I got was a luke-warm 2 inch by 5 inch thin egg tortilla with tasteless, oil coated veggies on the inside. When I think brunch omelettes, I think hearty and filling and this simply wasn't it. The side of fruit was about 8 grapes and a single strawberry and the women who had the breakfast potatoes had a small handful of not-very-crispy fried potato squares. I can't say I will be revisiting Louie's for their brunch - there are way too many great places in the cities to settle for eating slightly warm plates of skimpy portions and bland food. That being said I might come back for their daily happy hours, which boasts 8 oz pours of wine for $5.

Louie's Wine Dive has an amazing brunch on the weekends. The food is delicious. I've tried a few of the menu items including the biscuits and gravy, eggs benedict, and the the potatoes. They have bottomless mimosas that come in different flavors, and the servers allow you to mix and match. It's a nice change from straight orange juice all morning. I recommend Louie's to anyone looking for brunch, I will continue to return regularly.

Been to Louie's Wine Dive for a couple different events and really like the atmosphere. A nice wine bar fit for the area. Both times I didn't find the food or wine to be anything special. I would say average at best. The staff seems to be really nice and friendly.

This hidden gem next to bryant lake bowl is truly awesome. My wife and i went out and found the restaurant with a full menu of not to miss items but a server with as full of wine expertise to match the 4 pork gnocci and my wifes fish and chips. The outside table was on a side street that was nicely sheltered but open enough space. This is a great addition to uptown which my wife and i will certainly return over and over.

Came for brunch. Waitress was terrific. I ordered biscuits and gravy...huge portions..but the chorizo gravy was an awesome twist to a classic. I'd also recommend the country fried steak..damn! All this topped off with bottomless mimosa..great Sunday funday start!

We've been looking for a new brunch place in the area since our favorite (Rye's) closed and am happy to say I think we've found it! We stopped in on Sunday and were quickly brought to our table. Our server was really nice and knowledgeable and sold us on the mimosas. Bottomless mimosas? Yes please! I really like that Louie's has 4 different kinds of mimosas to choose from and with bottomless you can try a few of them out. The brunch menu offers a great variety - there is something for everyone. It was tough to choose an entree (The french toast sounded amazing) but I decided to go with the Croque Madame, a benedict-type dish with spicy capicola and swiss. As for a side there were a few options but the server sold me on the breakfast potatoes (so glad he did!). This meal was by far one of the best brunch dishes I've ever had. Service was really impressive as well - our server was extremely knowledgable and there never was a wait. If you're in the area I highly recommend stopping by Louie's.

I've had two experiences with Louie's now and both were pretty great. First, I attended a Yelp event there and instantly fell in love with their atmosphere, food, and service. But they won my heart during my a pre-birthday brunch a few weeks back. I had decided that I wanted bottomless mimosas and biscuits to celebrate my Monday birthday because that's just how I roll. I started calling around. The head count ended up being close to 15 people so I got a few rejections pretty quickly. I called up Louie's Wine Dive and a very nice guy with a chipper voice was more than happy to take my reservation. He even suggested that I add a couple more to the reservation just in case folks brought other folks. Very helpful. Day of the brunch, I arrived a bit early and the table was nearly done. We ended up being about 13 people and a lot of us ordered bottomless mimosas with our food. Our server was fun and sweet. I'm pretty sure by the time we left the poor gal was taking care of us and other tables. There were a few mix-ups and some food came out a smidge late for one couple but overall they were able to accommodate a large, tipsy group who ordered sporadically and needed separate bills. In the end, they even gave me a free bottle of wine to help me keep the celebration going.

I was in town on business when I was recommended this place to take my current clients out for a drink/apps. I was the first to arrive & was welcomed by Sam - At first I wanted a pint, but he suggested that since I was in the mood for the Calamari, that I should try one of their wines to pair w/ my app. The calamari was fantastic, and soon I was transitioned from the bar to my meeting. The vibe was spot-on to what my party was feeling, and the table ordered the exact same pairing that was suggested. We got some seafood, shared a few items such as the Gnocchi, Lobster & Shrimp Mac, and some tasty Deviled Eggs. I will be back.

Not sure Uptown needs another Louie but here it comes anyway. Big wine list of averageish wines -- wasn't impressed with serving size for $9-$16 pours. Biggest problem we encountered was a clueless and tardy server -- he was not on top of things and didn't offer a sorry let alone a complementary anything. When asked what the "seasonal vegetable" was that appeared to come with half the dishes, we got a "I don't know" -- not even an "I'll ask." Manager seemed to understand his server was a "space cadet" (his words) but didn't do anything more about it. The restaurant was perhaps half full on Mother's Day evening so it was not because they were slammed. Deviled eggs were a good starter and large portion size. It went downhill from there. Pan roasted chicken was OK but the potato wedges served with it were overcooked. Steak medallions were fine if a bit small but again the potato accompaniment was flavorless. Gooey cake dessert was anything but -- tasted OK but not what we expected based on description. No kids menu was a minus for us but probably not for others. All in all, not interested in a return. Too many other options. If they fix the service, perhaps we'll give it another go.

Honestly, never eaten here, had a few drinks, but even if it was bad, I'm still a fan. Here's why: Tonight I was here for a farewell drink with my girlfriend and her sister who is going to South Korea tomorrow and all of a sudden this bum came up to our table and was very drunk, hassling me for money and it was super awkward, then out of nowhere, the hostess came over and asked him to leave. I believe her name was Monny? Either way it was awesome she did that and totally didn't have to. I didnt have to make that awkward "I'm sorry I don't have any cash" comment because it never got to that point. In general, people that work here have all been very nice, but after tonight, I'll be a regular, for right wrong or indifferent, this is the differentiator that will make me come back - extra mile for the customer. 5-star. Excellent service.

I've stopped by Louie's twice and can truthfully say the only item worth getting is the sangria pitcher. White or red priced at $18 for a huge pitcher that poured about 10 glasses is a deal, and it's actually good sangria. Everything else at Louie's is mediocre, with the exception of the service, which is very very poor. Extremely slow, unknowledgeable, and a bit unprofessional (they accidentally charged my card twice unknowingly...). I'll be back for the sangria and dog friendly atmosphere since I live around the corner, but otherwise not worth going out of your way for.

We came for brunch - specifically for the bottomless mimosas. At $12 for "all you care to drink" it really wasn't a bad deal. I ordered the Mile High Omelette and it was nothing to rave over but the breakfast potatoes were delicious. Friends ordered the French toast - the mint-strawberries were a very nice edition.

If you are looking for local flair with hipsters of all ages this is your place . You get great views of Lake street and the peeps coming out of Bryant Lake Bowl are worth the price of admission. The salmon salad is fantastic and don't forget the calamari as an appetizer and if you have a palette for wine (obviously) this place is great. your sommelier will be with Sheila or Tim and they know their stuff and will guide you accordingly. I found the best Cabernet I have ever found outside of California . The restrooms are super clean and the atmosphere is just perfect no need to go anywhere else. I little extra for uptown but worth every dollar!

Ugh - I really don't want to give a one-star review but I feel compelled to. My coworkers and I came here for happy hour and dinner. A few of us had been here before for their grand opening (which was great!) so we decided to return. We had a group of 8 and wanted to sit on the patio. Upon getting to Louie's, we asked if we could move two outside tables together. The sommelier said no that it doesn't work to do that. He was a bit rude but no big deal. We had no problem going inside. Inside, the staff put a couple tables together for us. We were given 2 menus for the 8 of us. Weird. When asked about specials, the waiter told us quickly and then left. The next time he came around I asked if he had a happy hour menu. He, unbelievably rudely, said, "I just told you!" Umm...okay?! The happy hour specials were way different than what was published online so I wanted to see an actual menu. The waiter said all glasses of wine were 25% and so were apps. What kind of restaurant has a 25% off special? This isn't a retail store. Weird!! Side note: when we got our bill, a $7 glass of wine was $5.75 (not $5.25 as it should've been at 25% off) but whatever. It's $0.50. Apparently they don't know how to do simple math. When we first walked in, we were one of 3 tables and our waiter was still SO inattentive and slow. He'd take a few of our drink orders and come back minutes later for others and again minutes later for the rest. Terrible. The ONLY positive was that he recommended a good drink. With the unbelievably bad service, we decided to go elsewhere for food. We got our tabs. Just as with the drinks, the waiter only took a couple cards at a time even though we were all ready with cards in hand. Apparently this place can't handle a group of 8?! On the receipts there was a short survey which asked about the food, the atmosphere, and the service. I was honest and gave high marks for the atmosphere but low marks (but not even the lowest!) for the service. The waiter took the bill while we were still there and came back to confront us about the scores he was given!! He came up to our table and said, "you know what? I did my best and I separated your tabs." (As if that somehow made up for EVERYTHING else...) I said, "I don't appreciate this and we won't be back." The waiter said, "Good, I hope so." WHAT?!? So rude!!!!! Louie's Wine Dive, DON'T put a survey on your receipts if you don't want to know the truth!!!! The situation was embarrassing and confirmed that 8 customers will NOT be returning. Looking back on our receipt it appears the waiter's name was Eric A. If you get seating in that dude's section - RUN! Seriously a terrible place. We won't be back and will spread the word about the bad service and overpriced food & drinks. I can't wait for people to catch on and this place to close so Lyn-Lake can get a decent place in its place. Go next door to Bryant-Lake Bowl or Spill the Wine or Moto-i instead of this place.

Great place for happy hour. I am picky and want to go someplace that has small plates and discounted drinks. It's no bueno to drink and not eat. Surprisingly that is hard to find. Louie's does it!!! Yay! I really like the food too. Good cheese curds. Great wine list. Decent beer options. The shrimp and grits is legit. Hard dish to find here in the TC (southern food in general is hard to find much less the good stuff). Really want to come here for brunch. Bottomless mimosas anyone??? Love that!!! Patio is nice. Can get loud from traffic but I enjoy the high tops. Oh and free parking in the underground garage!!!!

If you are looking for place that has well made food with a fancier twist this is your place. With great prices, great food and great wine this Louie's can't be beat. The restaurant is a open floor plan with lots of seating. This can make the place very busy in the weekends and causes food to be a little slow. This is made up by the service of the staff at Louie's. The server we had was nice but was sparsely around. The managers, bar staff and hosts make up for this. We had to wait almost an hour for our dinner but we were promptly take care of by the manger who wanted to genuinely make sure we had a good time. If your looking to impress a date look no further. And make sure to try the 4 Pork Gnocchi.

The food was mediocre at best. I had a salad which was fine...there are just so many better places to have a standard meal within walking distance of this restaurant, I don't know why people would return

Went for brunch, we sat at the bar and had a great time. The bartender was very attentive and gave us great food and drink recommendations. I had the blue plate special and it was a tasty breakfast of eggs, bacon, fried potatoes (that were awesome) and toast. My friend had the French toast and she thought they were good as well. Endless mimosa ($12) in different flavors like grapefruit and cranberry. I thought that was creative and a good deal I'll come back for sure. I want to try dinner!

I've been here twice for dinner on weekdays. It's been almost empty both times. The food here is delicious - perfect portion sizes, great flavors. I recommend it for happy hour or a night out!

This could be an OK spot, but man is the service slow. Third time is NOT a charm... This place is in desperate need of new management.

Friendly atmosphere. The place will be better for night wine and dinning rather than brunch. Food well prepared and lived the spicy capicola. The music was a bit loud for Sunday brunch time. It has outside sitting which is a great thing.

Fantastic food and great wine list, particularly their by the glass selection. Timothy is one of the most if not the most knowledge wine sommeliers I have encountered in the twin cities and I'm including Burch, Mannys and even Spoon & Stable in that mix. Recommend the deviled eggs, Emily's salad, pork chop and the barramundi. Will be back again for sure.

No complaints about service but we did arrive on the later end of brunch. I liked the sunflowers they were putting out on their outdoor seating but we decided to sit indoors in a half booth table spot. It was comfy but the table was kind of small. Fortunately our server offered to pool two smaller tables together for us so we had more space to share our starter of lobster poutine and pho louie. The poutine was ok. A little pricey. Not really willing to pay 15 bucks for a couple tiny pieces of lobster and mostly fries. The noodles were good and I liked the poached egg. Everything was a little salty for my taste. I guess that might be because they are catering to the crowd ordering drinks but they csn always add table salt to the food. It's much harder to tone down saltiness if it's already seasoned. Ambiance was pretty cool. I'd give it another shot when I'm in the mood to drink.

I live close to Louie's and have been meaning to visit for a while. I visited Saturday night and was largely happy with the experience. Good atmosphere, good food, and friendly staff were all to be had at Louie's. I got the Pan Roasted Chicken and was pleased. No complaints, I would visit again. Seems like a great place for a date.

Menu is excellent. Both the crab cakes and pork were amazing and the bread pudding is a must. We also had the calamari as a starter which was incredibly tasty. AND the service was impeccable! Tim, the sommelier, was incredibly helpful. What I REALLY APPRECIATED was that they are not trying to rush you in and out. They GET that wine is to be savored and not slammed. We will be back!!!!

The food here is great but the service is terrible. We sat at the bar hoping to get served right away for brunch and waited 20 minutes before the bartender walked over to give us water. At that point we knew to order right away or she'd never come back. Every time we asked for something (eg. Refill on bottomless mimosa) the bartender sighed and acted like we were being obnoxious jerks. They ran out of champagne for bottomless and rather than telling us, they just gave us strong orange juice. This place is worth the food but not worth service or specials.

"Sorry for failing you." Those were the words said to us by the GM on our way out of the place after our second visit. I should explain - Following our first visit, which was horrible because of the service (never saw server, everything took a very long time, zero wine knowledge,) we left an honest, non-malicious review. After the review was posted, we were contacted via email by the GM, Cory, apologizing for the bad visit and were invited back to give them a second chance. We agreed after "Cory" called to beg us to come back. "Cory" made us a reservation and we showed up on time, and checked in as "Cory" requested. Once we were sat, the bad service began - rarely seeing our server, out of the wines they recommended, etc. After about an hour of sitting with only a glass of wine and not seeing or hearing from "Cory" (as he promised we would,) we asked for "Cory." There was no Cory. We asked for our tab as we chose to not eat and give the poor experience any more of our money. Upon getting our tab, we were somehow charged for more than what we had ordered and consumed - two glasses of wine. We brought this to our server's attention and were then visited by the Manager on Duty that evening who turned out to be this "Cory." "Cory" begged us to stay by saying, "We've got some good stuff for you, and it is all going to be free." We politely declined as did not return to Louie's Wine Dive for a "free" evening but instead in hopes it would be a great experience as we hoped as we live so close and were hoping for a great spot in our neighborhood. Following our declining of free stuff, "Cory" disappeared without another word other than "Sorry for failing you" as we walked out the door. This place feels like you are at a restaurant that a high school kid's dad owns and all of the friends of high school kids' work there and the dad is away for an evening so they are all slacking and acting poorly intentionally.

Stopped in ordered Mojito's and they were excellent. Then decided to try some food. Ordered the Lobster Poutine. Menu said crispy fries and Maine lobster. Well the lobster must have walked here from Maine cause it was old and chewy, couldn't eat it. The fries started out crisp but the watery sauce wilted them quick. Ordered ketchup but that didn't help. No Happy Hour on the weekend?

I really like the concept, ambiance, wine selection, and food. 3 star rating is because they seem to want to be the non-fussy neighborhood place to grab great food and wine (again - love the concept), but their price point makes them a place where you plan for a special night out. If they got their price point down, we would go a lot more often and on spontaneous dinner outings.

Wow .... Talk about a disaster. The management is either too drunk to function or they just don't care. Here's our first and only experience. Arrived at 9:50 pm on Friday. As per their own website, happy hour starts at 10pm. However, that was not the case last night. "Oh yeah, we changed that a day ago, it now starts at 11, I hope that didn't mess up your night" - said the host. We were seated. I saw a manager walk up and showed him on my phone how the website still stated 10-close happy hour. He graciously said they would honor it. Ok - we are back to good terms. We think we are going to enjoy this place and become regulars. (We live a block away) We ordered the $5 "big gulp" (as our fantastic server called it) of white wine. Fantastic. We also ordered from the HH menu the cheese curds , the sliders, the hummus and the deviled eggs. We ask how many servings of eggs come in the order. Our server response "usually 5, but I'm not sure how many come on the HH order" we were all confused as this contradicted the point of HH. (You save $2 from regular priced items but you get less???) anyways - we kept the menus as we planned of getting dinner after the apps. Our server kept checking on us and refilling our water. She was truly fantastic. The same can't be said about the rest of the place. We didn't get out food until 11:05pm. She advices us that because we had ordered from the happy hour menu the kitchen didn't have the items prepped. Funny , when everything is also available on the regular menu. We later asked for the lobster roll and a second order of cheese curds. The lobster roll description is delicious on menu. The actual roll lacks flavor , seasoning and the pancetta is no were to be found. The hummus was blah, the cheese curds very good but nothing to brag about. Definitely not worth an hour wait. Our bill was also incorrect. We were charged $6 per item instead of $5. I'm surprised no apology for the delay. I guess they don't need the clientele and don't care about their negative reviews. Not coming back. The table next to us ordered Moscow mules - they were told that the bartender needed to hold on to their ids to make sure they don't keep the mugs. Unbelievable...

They pay attention to details. The food was excellent, the wine selection was good, and the service was good. I liked the fact that they if you want a glass of wine that is not listed by the glass, they will open it as long as you purchase 2 glasses. That wine then goes up on the chalk board as a "special". I really liked this place

I've been here twice now for brunch. The servers are great, very friendly and personable/funny! Ahhh, but the food. Some of us liked it, but most of us were disappointed. Mostly because it was luke warm or cold! And how long could it take? Not sure about dinner or lunch, but both my experiences were extra long wait times to get it for mostly just avg food that you can get better and quicker elsewhere. The mimosas come around refilled in a pitcher! Not much bubbly left in that, just sayin!

Sat on the dog friendly patio. The Grandmas Garden gin cocktail was perfect for a hot summer evening. I started with a small apple salad that was delicious. My waiter recommended the 4 pork Gnocchi for my Entree. It was AMAZING! Service was friendly and attentive. I will be back!

My husband I I stopped in to Louie's last night for a drink, and maybe an appetizer or two. Having heard nothing about the spot thus far, we headed into to see what it was all about. We were instantly impressed upon walking in the door. The vibrancy of the color scheme is great and inviting! We were greeted as soon as we walked in by a smiling man, who we later found out is the manager, Tommy. He gave us a short tour of the restaurant, and invited us to pick a table anywhere we would like. We chose the bar. The service was outstanding! Our bartender (Patty I think) was an absolute riot, and he and Tommy had us laughing uncontrollably for our entire visit. I can't say enough about how welcome we felt sitting there, and the knowledge these two had...We will definitely be back, and we'll be bringing friends! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was that the food we ordered wasn't spectacular in any way, but it was definitely good!

I'm not sure what this place will become since it's so new, so I'd be willing to give it another chance. Overall, the food was decent, but the menu offered little focus or clarity to what kind of place it is. Too many things of all types. Our turkey burger and crab cakes were pretty good. My main issue was the vibe and service were really weird. First off, the music they were playing was Gawd-Awful! It was the kind of music you'd expect to hear at a Perkins in Blaine, not a new "hot spot" in Uptown. Think middle-aged 90's crap like Billy Joel, Creed, Matchbox 20, Barenaked Ladies...no! Our waiter would not leave us alone. Being attentive is one thing, but asking if we wanted desert before we were even halfway through our meal was another. I'm sure I'm sounding nitpickey, but service and ambiance are important too.

Louie's is a great place to stop at any time of the day! I was happily surprised by quality of the Sunday brunch service and also the variety of tasty dishes. The servers were highly engaged and knowledgeable; not mention very timely with those bottomless mimosa refills! Other than brunch, we've enjoyed their excellent wine selection and appetizers. They always seem to have exactly what you're in the mood for!

Always great food! I love this place being so close and popping in for dinner or a great glass of wine. It's my bday and they gave me a bottle of wine. Awesome!!!

Came for brunch. Waitress was terrific. I ordered biscuits and gravy...huge portions..but the chorizo gravy was an awesome twist to a classic. I'd also recommend the country fried steak..damn! All this topped off with bottomless mimosa..great Sunday funday start!

Friendly atmosphere. The place will be better for night wine and dinning rather than brunch. Food well prepared and lived the spicy capicola. The music was a bit loud for Sunday brunch time. It has outside sitting which is a great thing.
