Jimmy's is my new "place", that I preferably want to frequent sometimes, often, or rather everyday if possible. First off, I have yet to meet the owner himself (Jimmy), but let me tell you, TONY is my new favorite bartender in town. He prepared us some delicious hot dogs, drinks, and explained the hilarious story of the $98.00 frozen TV dinner on their menu. Then, after finding out that we were all graduating from college, he poured all (nine) of us celebratory shots, and even took one with us. Microwaved popcorn, "beer sticks", and the largest plate of nachos is on the menu as well, so come hungry and excited for a great crowd & meal. Everyone in the bar was SO welcoming and gracious. I want to move to NE now, just because of Jimmys, and the great neighbor hood feel of this place. ALSO: as Neal P stated, they serve FREE White Castle every Sunday morning AND they have Price is Right viewing parties (Hilariously awesome), where every time someone spins a dollar, everyone in the bar gets a free drink. Bring cash, but you'll probably be fine with $10 in your pocket. My tab totaled to a whopping $3.75 for a polish hot dog & chips, and most of their beers run for around $3.00. Get to Jimmy's this instant, you will not regret it.

Last Friday evening I was exhausted from a long drive to and fro Madison, WI for work. I headed home with my PBRs in hand to find myself alone, with 24 beers and two cats. I knew at that very moment I needed to lift my spirits with some cheap beers at a good ol' dive bar ala NE, Minneapolis. Alone. Upon entering Jimmy's I felt as if I somehow didn't make it home from Madison, but pulled off somewhere outside of Baron, WI or Elk Mound for that matter. Wood paneling with poop brown ceiling tile make for a vibrant and uplifting atmosphere. Not to mention the 60 something bar fly dancing with every whiskey swilling drunk in the bar. After I had consumed my 2nd $2.00 Old Style and my $1 beer stick, a lot of things started to make sense. This is the best bar in NE. They serve FREE White Castle every Sunday from 10am-1pm. (you bring your favorite condiments) Middle aged men come here to talk about fishing lures and minnows while wasting money on pull tabs , AND hell yes the bar tender is putting them down right along with the rest of em'! Sure some of the patrons might struggle with meth in addition to booze, but for god sakes, who doesn't? Go to Jimmy's for "the scene". Stay for the beer sticks. *The cash machine did not work and they don't take cards. And I had one more beer. Total tab- $8.00

What more can you ask for? Strong drinks and little wienies from the microwave.... good music in the box....! Would not change anything at all! Nice bathroom for NE Minneapolis.

The Undisputed Champion of my official Best Bar in America competition. It won't be for everyone, but those people are stupid and they don't matter in the scheme of things. Contrary to a previous post, Jimmy's prides itself on it's cleanliness. Old does not equate to dirty.

For a friend's birthday we headed out to NE for some cheap drinking and celebrating. On the recommendation of his 'NE connection' we started at Jimmy's. This is just like a bar I wish was in my neighborhood, especially if my neighborhood wasn't full of crappy undergrads. Crowded but not packed, casual, friendly, and filled with folks who just wanted to hang out on a snowy night rather than hit "the scene". I am constantly reminded of my jealousy of those who live in NE and my own failure in not going there enough. Cheap beer, pitchers (which, frankly, not enough bars do here) and I bar food menu consisting of food made in the microwave or covered in nacho cheese. All I ate was the $1 'beer stick'..basically a slim-jim that is actually tasty, but the birthday boy had his drunken cravings well satisfied.

What can I say that hasn't ' been said already. It's dirty, it's divey, the drinks are cheap and they have Old Style on tap. Keep up the good work Jimmy's.

The bartenders make this bar AWESOME! The excellent jukebox selection and cheap drinks also add to the awesomeness.

Easy review! Great management and staff as well as great food and drink. Recommended by an old regular who's a friend of mine. Went in for another friends 25th and it was awesome! Nice low key feel, some fun traditions (TV Dinner), you could get food pretty much all night. Kielbasa was fantastic as well as our very cheap top shelf drinks (Knob Creek water for under $5). Asked the bartender to surprise us with a fun birthday shot for my friend and he did not disappoint. It did have quite a bit of regulars there, which didn't bother me at all, and was fine for the birthday party to roll through for an hour, but it's more of a low key place.

Best little bar ever! The vinyl booths, the helpful bartenders, the cheap drinks, and friendly regulars make this my favorite bar in NE. I recommend the beef sticks! Checkout Google street view to see inside this place. That is what it looks like all the time. Due to its small size, this place is not good for larger groups. So ditch your friends at Mayslacks and go here on your own.

If you want to experience NE Minneapolis in all its divey glory, get thee to Jimmy's. Have a Bullfrog and a meatstick. Play some pulltabs. Friendly service, CHEAP drinks, employees and regulars are great, and there's always a contingent of bar crawlers from the suburbs taking quaint selfies.

Jimmy's is A-OK. Friendly staff, cheap pints of Old Style, microwaved nachos, and older regulars are staples at this cash-only dive. For me, Jimmy's is more of a once-in-a-while stop on the way to a destination rather than a destination all it's own. Just nothing about the place that I find compelling enough to seek it out. If you're already in the area it's worth stopping in for a beer or two. And some nachos. Hell, if you're visiting NE from elsewhere odds are pretty good that you're bar hopping anyway.

I have not been to Jimmy's in years, came down with some friends to watch hockey. I have to say, it has a great neighborhood bar feel it, lots of old timers and regulars here. From what I heard its not been over run with mustache, red wing wearing douche bag hipsters yet, but beware for the pub crawl d-bags on the weekend, since this place is on the crawl path.
