High Blood Pressure at Applebee's

Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Blood Pressure

Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. Skip all the chicken dishes and seafood at Applebee's except Grilled Chicken Breast and Baked Haddock without sides respectively. High Cholesterol at Applebee's

Well, steaks and ribs go hand in hand with cholesterol. Being their signature dish, it will be a challenge to find low-calorie, healthy food for those concerned with their cholesterol levels. However, you can always opt for their salads and other light foods to keep the cholesterol in check.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Cholesterol

If you have high cholesterol, then you must avoid eating sandwiches, wraps, and tacos at Applebee's. While the salads and soups sound healthy, you must skip the Fiesta Chopped Salad and Loaded Potato Soup at Applebee's. It is also advised to dodge the Three Cheese Chicken Penne and Chicken Fajita Rollup. Any main meal with over 100mg cholesterol is not idle for someone with high cholesterol. So slow! It took one hour, 60 long minutes, to get a hamburger and salad! My beer sat at the bar so long the bartender had to whisk it up to produce a foamy head before it was delivered to the table (in the Bar). Never never again.

We ordered a perfect margarita and it was anything but. It tasted so bitter and sour. That is pretty much the only drink I order at any Applebee's, so I am aware what they taste like. My friend and I told our waitress and then, the bartender comes to our table and argues with us and assures us that he knows how to make them right. Well I can assure mr. Bartender that a perfect margarita does not contain 90% sweet & sour mix. We were still charged 8.50 each for a crappy drink and a lovely arguing bartender scene.

Worst dining experience in my 21-year-old lifetime. Awful service and unfriendly waitstaff headlined the evening, although the sloppy undercooked burger and water with some sort of flavor really weren't enjoyable. Also, beware of "unlimited fries"... They only apply to 3-4 new/seasonal menu items (not even the plain burger has them) and I got "refills" twice, but those 3 servings probably amount to the one serving of fries my friend had with his meal. One sentence summary: If you think "Hey, it's just an Applebee's and they have good deals, how bad could it be?", ...you have no idea. Go elsewhere.

So I understand it is Applebee's so it is your typical chain. I came in and ordered the two item special for $9.99 on a Saturday night around 10:30 pm. The quote time was 9 minutes and I waited near 20 minutes. Of course the food arrives and the nachos had almost nothing on them and the quesadilla was three small patties that Taco Bell could make better. I understand this is not a Mexican restaurant and I came in at 10:30 pm but do not advertise that you serve late and have decent food when everyone working seemed focused on getting out of there when it was allegedly open until midnight? I have not been to Applebee's in years and I can assure you I will never return to any other location. After seeing the photos I now remember why I stopped dining at this chain years ago!

Service was subpar. Our server forgot to tell the kitchen about the appetizers we ordered, so we never got them. We waited fruitlessly until the entrees arrived. Lighting struck twice when ordered some more drinks that were also neglected! Not a good look.

A group of friends went out on our lunch hour to catch lunch. When we got there, there was no one at the front to greet us. There were 7 in our party. A party of 2 came in behind us. The hostess finally arrived and looked at us and rudely said "It's gonna be a minute" and grabbed the other party to seat. Once we were seated, our server was prompt and was helpful. I felt sort of bad, because everything else that was wrong with our visit was really out of his control. The food was very slow. In fact, we had to ask for our checks before the food even came because we had a limited lunch hour. Several tables that came in after us were served before us. He was good about getting us refills quickly. The server checked back with us and provided us with updates, but it still didn't get our food. When we finally did get our food, the fries were cold and limp. I had a chipotle chicken wrap that was soggy. The flavor was OK, but I just couldn't get the fact the wrap's consistency was off. I have been to this location in the past and had decent experiences. However, if you work at the U and have 45-60 minutes for lunch, it will be a tight visit. In fact, this was the first time I have ever paid for my food in advance of actually getting it. I was just really disappointed.

I found myself at this particular Applebee's on the U of M campus because I was too hungry to walk to my usual favorite spot (Buffalo Wild Wings) from the lightrail. I have got tired of this particular chain before it closed in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Frankly, this Applebee's didn't help any. I ordered the Chicken Wonton Tacos and the bone-in chicken wings with honey bbq. The tacos were really good. The flavors were awesome. The bone-in wings were not. They were way too saucy and they tasted like there was fat under the skin. They did not taste like chicken at all. Despite the food, the service at the bar was horrible. When I got there, there was only one other guy at the bar besides me. The bartender took forever to serve either of us as if the bar was incredibly busy. When I asked for something, such as wetnaps, the bartender would answer me with a single yes WITHOUT looking over at me. I only got one wetnap as well until I had to ask again. I was so happy I had exact change to pay my tab because I wanted to get out of there as soon as possible. Overall, I can see why Applebee's is going under. I had a horrible experience.

Their lemons taste like despair and a dying soul. Usually dried up, it is obvious they let the delicate slices of yellow perfection lay out in the harsh environment of their kitchen. If you squeeze the lemon into tea or water the flavor of broken dreams is barely noticeable. But what of us who understand the artistry of lemons? Who crave the sour sting of their delightful decadent juice? Be prepared to suffer at the hands of these neglected slices, for there is no greater disappointment than these sliced citrus frowns. 2/5 - despite being woefully ignorant of bringing me my heartbreak, the servers are accommodating to my request for as many slices of lemon as they can bring me.

As a vegan, I have to say that Applebee's sucks! They do not have anything on the menu that I can eat except a side dish of broccoli (ordered plain without the butter). Not even the chips and salsa are vegan!! What are they cooking with?? I'm so sketched out as I sit here, hungry, watching my friends eat and feeling left out and embarrassed for this establishment. Never again, Applebee's, you've lost the little respect that I had for you.

First off-- this dining experience could only be described as confusing. Digital menus??? BOMBARDED WITH ADS! (And ad for the tablet menu on the tablet menu???) Okay it was pree cool I could order the churro smores (def check these bad boys out!) with out flagging down our waiter (after downing an Oreo milkshake ha.ha.ha #seconddessert #imsayin ) but really idk it wasn't apparent if I was supposed to swipe a card to pay or wait for a bill ?? Also once we did receive a bill it was like-- is that it? it wasn't clear that was the conclusion of our dining experience the waiter didn't even tell us to have a good night?

  • Jean R.

Okay, so I went into Applebee's on campus got myself a salad and a side order of sweet potato fries. I thought the whole experience was going well as my server arrived promptly took my order and got my food out quickly. Then I never saw her again, granted she seemed pretty busy but there appeared to be a lot of other servers just roaming around so I am not sure why it all fell to her. The salad was good and was worth the $10 I paid for it but the sweet potato fries came with three mystery sauces (server never bothered to tell me what they were) and I am not kidding now, a handful of sweet potato fries all of this for $6. Not really worth that! And when I mentioned that to the server that the price was high for what I received she just agreed with me and went her merry way. I paid my bill in cash and had to wait an unusual amount of time to get my change, as though, I shouldn't have expected my change, there was an expectation of that tip. The server brought me my change but said the coin part of my change would take longer because the bartender needed to get the coins from the register? really? Bartender didn't look all that busy when I left, couldn't wait any longer. I would have said all this to a manager but they seemed non-existent. Anyway, from now on I will stick to just what I know and none of the new items on the menu.

Reviewing for their lunch specials experience. I go to school on the east bank and my friend and I come here regularly to enjoy their lunch specials. It never really gets crowded and it's pretty comfy to rest during a long day of school. Good thing is, their specials. Cheap and decently tasting. (It is too sweet most of the times, but oh well, not expecting too much) Bad thing is, they are never never that busy, but they always always bring out the check before we are done...

You can't go to Applebee's expecting great food, but it's a great last stop after an evening of drinking (for people who are ready to go home and sleep before 10pm). Our server was pleasant and quick. There are two "gender neutral", single stall bathrooms here in addition to the standard "male or female " ones which I appreciate. A friend ordered the Applebee's Mudslide (basically a Kahlua shake) and it was really tasty, though the Hersheys chocolate sauce brought down the quality a bit. We also got the garlic breadsticks, which were cold and stale and not very garlicy, and the salted caramel pretzels, which were actually quite good (reminiscent of a churro). Another friend got the brownie bite, the chocolate Oreo mousse shooter, and the strawberry cheesecake shooter. The brownie tasted old and stale (reoccuring theme) and the cheesecake shooter was weirdly grainy/gritty, but the chocolate mousse was proclaimed delicious. Come in with low chain-restaurant expectations and you won't be too disappointed.

First and foremost, from a decade-long server I have to say that this was one of the best service dinners I've had in a long time. AVALON was our waitress and she was 100% on point from beginning to end. Exceptional demeanor, humor and steps of service. Food was good, steak was a little tough but still pretty good. Everything was cooked well, and the lava dessert was AWESOME. The best thing about this dinner was the service, and am writing this review mostly to state that. All around good dinner!!

Walked in from the back door by mistake and the place was over 50% empty. However there was a 25 minute wait because the "kitchen was backed up". Then when we sat down to eat the food was not too good and extremely long time. This Applebee's is not living up to the corporate standard

Awful food and worse service. I never go to ANY Applebee's location expecting stellar food, but this place is worse than the other locations. The food was really salty and the service was horrible. I had some sort of steak (rubbery) with a sauce on top (salt, salt, and more salt). I went there for lunch and it didn't seem very busy so I don't know why it took so long to get food. The water wasn't refilled, the waiter forgot the appetizer, forgot the drink that was ordered, and basically didn't show his face until he gave us the check.

This is a review for takeout only. The ordering process was really simple - I checked the menu online, called, placed my order, then popped down to get it about 15 minutes later (I was staying at the adjoining hotel). From what I could tell, the restaurant seemed half-full mid-afternoon on a Friday, with a combination of college students and hotel guests. My food was ready when I arrived. I got a soup and salad - for the hefty price of $15. The Fiesta Chicken Salad was amazing! Really really delicious. Very hearty but healthy as well (although there was a large amount of dressing provided on the side). It was large and could easily serve as a full meal (I didn't really need the soup). The tomato basil soup was fine--I have had better, but it tasted perfectly decent. It's not going to be as good as Panera Bread tomato soup, at the end of the day. Overall, it was very handy to have this attached to the hotel, and the takeout process was easy. I think it was too expensive for what I bought, and I also find the Applebee's menu generally quite limited, with an emphasis on heavy and/or diner-style food. I would definitely get a salad from them again for lunch.

The food was not that good... I've went to other Applebee's and this one seems to be the worst. The service was bad too... I asked the waiter three times that I wanted a box to go and the fourth time a friend of mine asked him.. and he came back, threw the box at me, and just walked away. Of course I didn't tip that JERK!

Stay away from this place. Even if the resturant was less than half full the waiting and mess in orders was very disapointing. when the food finally arrived it was less than mediocre. Both the staff and manager was short and unfriendly. Spend your night and money on other places.

Staying at the hotel connected to this Applebee's for the past two weeks. Therefore, have been here several times. Service is what is lacking at this location. We had to wait about 10 minutes before any server even acknowledged we existed. To be fair, once a server did take our order, it came out very quickly.

What can you say, it's applebee's. They are pretty much the same everywhere. This location is on the U of MN campus, so you have to be prepared for a lot chatter from the college crowd who frequents the place. Compared to other applebee's, the service has not been great when I've been there. All too often, the staff appears more interested in flirting or chatting with one another than attending to the customer's needs.
