The scones are fresh made there every morning and they make a ton of different flavors. They are quite good. The only non-positive thing I would say is it would be nice if they wrote out what the different types of scones they made, put it on a board that the customer can read, because if you ask you get the auction barker speak and the person talked so fast, and seemed so bored of the topic, that it was hard to make a decision and I just took the final flavor she mentioned.

Overwhelmed is an understatement when you go to Allie's Deli. There are so many people and with three lines for various items it's a lot. However they have a lot of signs directing you for sandwiches or salads which helps immensely. It took about 10-15 minutes from the time I got in line until I got my sandwich and then paying was only a couple minutes. There are a bunch of fruit salads and other deli to go items by the cashier as well. I got the whole Reuben and boy was I stuffed!! It was so yummy and huge with just the right amount of sauce. The bread wasn't super toasted but just enough for a little crunch. I will definitely go back to try their other sandwiches. Other point to note. There aren't a ton of women around so you'll feel like you're in a forest of men, because they're taller than you. Must be the type of work or building setup.

Know what you want ahead of time if possible if you are going during lunch hours downtown. I had the chicken and rice soup. I also got the chili. I can honestly say both had great depth of flavor and were very satisfying. I am very sensitive to most preservatives and ingredients. No reactions here, so that should tell you something. The prices are a little high but it's worth it to keep local business owners in business.

Sandwiches, 4 oz pasta sides, chips and cookies were brought in to the office. I had the veggie sandwich which was refreshing, loaded with cool, summer veggies, and on a soft nutty wheat bread. I wound up peeling away a lot of the excess cheese, and wish that there had been more avocado spread on the bread... The 4 oz tuna salad side I had was decent, if a bit bland. Chocolate chip cookie- large and wonderfully satisfying. If I visit here again, I'll visit Allie's for lunch for sure!

This is one of my main go-to places for a salad since the small portion is very generous and they have amazing bacon! My favorite soup is their tomato dill and I always get it with a piece of wheat bread. I think they make their own bread too! You can't go wrong with any of their options that come with turkey meat. I really like their California Turkey and the Allie's Deli Special is good too. The sandwiches that need improvement are their reuben and buffalo chicken. The reuben did not taste fresh and the meat was microwaved. The buffalo chicken had a very odd dressing and did not taste good at all. Their homemade croutons are usually excellent but most recently they tasted very stale and off. Overall, there are some great options here that are reasonably priced and it's in a great location. The service is also fast and friendly so I continue to come here pretty frequently!

Allie's is a favorite lunch spot for many people. Serving breakfast too. My work caters from here pretty often and I don't think I have been disappointed by anything they have ordered. Keep in mind lunch hour is going to be packed! More of a pick up and to go kind of place the staff is quick and gets you through pretty fast. There are a few tables if you want to dare try to dine in but you will be in the middle of all the hustle and hustle of others trying to get lunch and right by the skyway with others shuffling or hurrying by with their lunches on the way out or back to work and don't think you will find a quiet place to chat with whomever you are with and don't bother trying to be on your phone. If you want a lunch place that is quiet so you can work and/or reflect on anything, do a pick up and go somewhere else to do that other stuff. Some of my faves are the white chicken chili soup and taco salad. They have a line for sandwiches, soups and salads. Please pay attention to what line you should be in! If you want a combo pick the sandwich or salad line and go from there. For those in a rush or if you know what you want, they have their most popular salads and sandwiches pre-made in a couple of coolers that you can grab. They also have veggies and fruit salads as sides to grab and ago as well. Some other favorites are he chicken salad sandwich and the strawberry salad. Oh and can't forget their homemade desserts! Beware if you have a major sweet tooth and steer clear if you are cutting back on sweets because it's hard not to eat the whole thing! My favorites are the Rice Krispies bar and chocolate chip cookies (no worries I have found a way to enjoy and not get too much of a sugar high! large enough up enjoy half and save the other for later...more like 2 hours later when I need a pick me up at work!) There really is no sign that says hey this is Allie's but not hard to miss..across from Potbellys with triple the amount of people

Love the chicken noodle soup! Reasonably priced and the line is worth the wait. It is kind of intimidating shopping here the first time as there are several lines. It was helpful to go with someone.

Cheap (compared to all the other sandwich shops in the skyway), fast, fresh and worth the money. Don't be intimidated by the long lines that accumulate during the lunch hour rush, it goes by really quickly. There are plenty of skilled sandwich workers in the back that get the job done quickly and efficiently without messing up your order. Wish they had toasted my sandwich or I had the option of doing so, would have added an extra layer of crunchy goodness. Don't get me wrong there are plenty of hot sandwich options, as well as soups and wraps. There is a separate line for soups, wraps and sandwiches, making the process more efficient for both the staff and the hungry crowd. You also have the option of building your own, but with the variety of sandwich/wrap options available why go through the trouble of deciding from their lengthy option (always good to have an abundance of choices) menu when you can just have your taste buds partake in the options provided by the creative minds behind the counter/option board. The amount of meat that is provided in one of their sandwiches was perfect (unlike some places that are stingy when it comes to the sandwich meat and want to charge you extra for the amount you should have been getting in the first place). They also offer the double meat option but doubt you will need to venture down that path. Everything is fresh and tasty. They even have sprouts (had gotten the California turkey sandwich) which goes amazing with turkey and avocado. Guess I'll have to become a frequent visitor of this spot and try out their other options. Seating is limited within the 'store front' but there are other options throughout the building hallways that would work just as fine.

Part of me wanted to give 1 star purely in the hopes of less people going so I can get my food faster! However, the honesty in me compelled me to give the truthful 5 star rating Allies deserves. I get the club sandwich every time I go, which is probably nearing 100 times because wow everything from the bread to the bacon is great. Actually, the tomatoes sometimes are a bit under ripe for my liking. I did get the Cuban a time or two, which is very good with the au jus. As far as soup goes, I've tried the chicken wild rice. I think it's really good, and I got the larger bowl once and it was quite filling. The other soups all do look tasty but haven't ventured off the beaten path of what I know is good. The sandwiches are under 7 bucks whether you do whole or half with soup. Service is great, they work hard and are very friendly. Enjoy!

Best of the skyway. Good fresh salads and sandwiches, great people working there, quick service, if only they had room to sit. I like to order the a custom salad. Fill out a card with what you want and they skimp on nothing. They cruise through the lunch rush. Need to try them for breakfast sometime. Seriously eat here.

The line is long for a reason, and that reason is that this is the best value American deli-style lunch you can get in the Skyway. Allie's Deli features high quality ingredients and generous servings for its soups, salads and sandwiches. I got a half California Turkey sandwich and Tomato Dill soup and loved both. The soup, to my surprise, had a white cream rather than tomato base, chunks of tomato and delicious dill. It was amazing! The half sandwich was big enough that I was completely full. The biggest surprise of all--the whole thing cost me $6 even! You'd be an idiot to go across the hall to Potbelly for that value. A tip: Don't be overwhelmed by the line system. Just take a step back and take a minute to figure it out, as there are different lines for sandwiches, salads, paying, etc. The lines are long but move very quickly, so don't feel rushed to get into one right away.

No surprise, Alli's lunch knocks it out of the park once again. I stopped by hear for a quick grab-and-go lunch with a friend. After viewing the massive menu I was a little intimidated and napped a prepared salad topped with chicken salad, fruit, and cashews. Because my life revolves around ranch, I used that instead of the poppyseed. The small size around $4.50 and that thing was huge! I also picked out a M&M Rice Krispy the size of my head. Delish! At less than $7, I was happy and full and excited for Alli's to become my new go-to spot. Also, the owner is compleltely kind and delightful. He is appreciative and kind of his customers, which is a testament of what a loyal following this skyway hotspot has!

This is a terrific sandwich place in the skyway. Great sandwiches, fresh ingredients. The first time I went there I was totally confused by the line system...different lines for different kinds of food, then another line to pay, and no signs saying how to navigate them. But that's a one-time confusion, and the sandwich was totally worth it!

  • Tyler K.

The best deli I have experienced. The staff here is super friendly and willing to chat. Salad, taco salad, CUBAN, Allie's Club, Allie's Dip, White Chicken Chili, Wild Rive Soup. I've had them all and they are second to none. They also have fresh grab and go veggies- which are delicious. This place is always packed- plan on a take-out lunch, because seating is almost non-existent. I love Allie's.

  • Mary B.

FANTASTIC! Everything I have had from Alie's has been great, from soup to create your own salad to sandwiches. The food is always fresh and the prices are great for what you receive. This year I took over purchasing lunches for a quarterly meeting and went with Alie's catering. I picked several options from their extensive catering menu and let the meeting attendees choose what they wanted. After the meeting, several participants commented to me how great their meal and asked that I continue to order from Alie's. It is obvious the owner takes great pride in serving a quality product for a reasonable price and I feel Alie's goes above and beyond.

I've only just started working in the Rand Tower and Allie's Deli is a great discovery. Friendly waitstaff and fresh food! My favorite is a deconstructed croissant - eggs scrambled on the side and crispy bacon. For lunch I love the taco salad or egg salad wrap.

  • Gina M.

The service here is ALWAYS exemplary, and the food is no exception. I come to Allie's multiple times a month, and most of the time I order a taco salad. The salad is filled to the brim with an array of veggies, lots of jalapenos, beans, rice and chicken. Allie's soup is also to die for. My favorite is the white chicken chili. In summary, Yum!

  • Sara O.

Why can't you be open all the time. Then I could eat your amazing sandwiches whenever my heart desires - which would be all the time. I would have the Cuban most of the time, but also the California Turkey. Those are my favorites. I would be ok waiting in line because it moves fast and everyone is so helpful. I think you should consider being open on the weekends.....just sayin!

  • William C.

I stopped here for lunch with a co-worker; this wasn't my first stop here, I've eaten at this place plenty of times in the past. This time around, I went with the Cuban. That's right, the Classic Cuban. Served hot, as always, packed with meat, cheese and a side of ajeu. I can't begin to describe the taste, texture and overall awesomeness of this sandwich. The meat is packed in with sharp cheese, sandwich cut in half and enjoyed with a bang of jalapeno chips. The ajeu is something I could drink out of a straw; granted that is likely not socially acceptable. I always get either the Cuban or the Taco Salad. You can't go wrong with either one!!! If you want FAST, reasonably priced, awesome food, stop by this place for lunch. The seating is fairly limited; so, you might want to plan on grab/go if you have a large group of people.

  • Mary Jo C.

Best lunch spot in the skyway! When in doubt, go to allies. The ingredients are so fresh, the service is stellar, and they encourage substitutions!!! That is hard to come by these days ppl! They have no problem customizing to your preference. I'm not a big sandwich person, but I always get the sandwiches because the bread is so soft! Do yourself a favor and do not get it toasted! The soups are nothin to write home about but get the job done if that's your thing. Prices are reasonable too! I can get away with half a Sammie for under $4 and be full. Not too shabby allie!

  • Anthony B.

Get in line early, it gets long fast and seats are gone before you know it. Pretty standard deli, but the sandwiches are good. I had the Allie's Dip- now I know what's been missing from my French Dip all my life- Corned Beef. The bread they use is good and the au jus is nice and warm. I finished up that sandwich pretty fast. It could have used a little bit more meat in the middle but I'm a fatty, so that's just my preference. I didn't try their soups, but a lot of people were ordering their various choices, so it must be good. Only complaint is that when the line starts to grow, things get a little weird and confusing because they take multiple orders and they come out at different times and people start to start jockeying for the cashier, it can get messy when people start throwing bows at each other (kidding). Solid lunch spot. Yum.

Where can you go for a breakfast sandwich for lunch? Allie's! I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place. I really like their breakfast egg bagel and the taco salad. I usually get the chili on my taco salad. Spicy and homemade. The staff is great too. They are friendly and appreciative for you coming in. If you have room you have to try the chocolate chip cookies. Let's just say you want to make room. :-)

I was talking to my coworker about Allie's last week and we both said we should do a review. I have had consistently great service over the last few years from the folks at Allie's. The staff has been pretty consistent over time as have been the prices. They seem truly appreciative of each individual's business. We were concerned when the Potbelly opened up across the skyway from Allie's, but they seem as busy as ever during lunch time. My favorites from Allie's are the breakfast wrap and the taco salad. They also have soups that are quite good. The serving sizes are quite good, not too much, but you won't go hungry. A great breakfast and lunch joint. Allie's is located on the Skyway level of the Rand Tower, between 6 Quebec and One Financial Plaza.

I love how this little place is a bit hidden. And honestly for those freshly made scones (with tonss of varieties!), WOW!!!!

  • Michaela A.

Allie's chicken salad is the best. I have their chicken salad stuffed tomato at least once a week. Comes on a bed of lettuce with veggies and strawberries. I can eat the tomato and chicken salad and then have the salad later. Two meals in one for $6.75. Super friendly staff. They always thank me sincerely for giving them the business.

  • Lori G.

You can usually see a long line at Allie. It is a hot spot. But the line moves fast! Their staff works fast! Their receipt for food is interesting, different from others. They have a lot of options too! The taste is OK

Allie's is by far the best deal in the Minneapolis skyway. The food is always fresh and the people who work there are kind...yes, I said kind. In a world of fast food - get 'em through and move on to the next, this is a place where the cashier looks you in the eyes and thanks you for your business as you hand them your money. And the food, my...the salads are always fresh and crunchy. The chicken salad has big chunks of chicken, their Massive Veggie sandwich has real guac and tons of vegetables. The soups are great. It's a place where you can get good, healthy food quickly and efficiently.

I LOVE ALLIE'S!! Unless I'm craving something specific, I ALWAYS go to Allie's when I'm buying lunch in Downtown Minneapolis. I have the punch card and everything. My go-to orders are the Allie's chicken salad sandwich, Allie's French dip, taco salad with chili, spring mix salad (chicken salad, mixed greens, fruit, cashews), or a bowl of chicken wild rice soup with bread to dunk. Also I have trouble resisting the lemon bars on Tuesdays. You can tell the baked goods are made on-site-- right down to the croutons. Everything is delicious and plentiful and fresh. One of the things I appreciate most about Allie's is the variety, including healthy options. For example, you can get a side of fresh vegetables and dip, hard boiled eggs, applesauce, a banana, or a fruit cup if you're looking for a light snack or an alternative to potato chips. But they have those too! I work right next door to a different skyway deli, but I make the trek to Allie's and am never disappointed. Don't be intimidated by the long lines, they move faster than you would think. Allie's is very accommodating with special requests, and their customer service is tops.

I LOVE Allies Deli! They are my favorite and usually first choice in the skyways, unless I'm taking a big risk of trying something new (which is almost too big of risk since Allies is so good). I try something new every time I come here, and everything I've had I loved. Chicken salad spinach wrap, buffalo chicken wrap, breakfast sandwiches, soups, salads were all delicious! Plus they have lots of easy grab and go snacks and pre made items. The price is great too and you get a lot of food. I usually order half orders.

A new skyway favorite. Your favorite ma-and pa-style restaurant amongst all of the corporate grab and go places. This place has standout soup and delicious sandwiches.

    (4)
  • Susie A.

Loved the tomato dill soup with it's creamy-ness and tomato chunks. Don't skip the bread that comes with it. You'll thank me. It's like cake. Perfect to dunk. Oatmeal chocolate chip cookie as big as my head for dessert. Chewy delicious with a hint of cinnamon. They don't mess around. So good. I'll be back. I'm a fan.

Favorite place for lunch downtown. Chicken wild rice soup is a classic. I have catered several work lunches with that staple.

    (4)
  • Z L.

I eat veggie most of the time so there's not that many choice for me in the skyway especially for a heated up meal. However, Allie's is one of the place that I can go almost every day for their Tomato basil/veggie /navy bean soup with a bread. The trick is that I will try to get there before 1130 when the bread is just freshly out of the oven and the line is not getting too long. They also have salad/sandwich/breakfast by your choice. If you are in rush they have variety bakeries and packs for grab & go. It is just like a warm home feeling kitchen.

    (5)
  • Cameron D.

I love allies. It is by far the best deli in the skyway. All of their soups and sandwiches are great, but the white chicken chili and the super club deluxe are the cream of crop.

    (5)
  • Rachel F.

100% best breakfast in the skyway. Lunch comes in at a 90%. The scones rule the day, as does their soup selection and their house made chicken salad. These guys expanded in the last 2-3 years, kicking a Caribou Coffee location to the curb. If you're thinking of going to Panera, Erberts and Gerberts, Potbelly, Subway, Jimmy Johns or any of the other numerous sandwich soup places COME HERE INSTEAD. Never met anyone that didn't like Allie's.

  • Emily V.

One of my favorite skyway places. You can pretty much anything you want made to order, or they have a few premade things you can grab if in a hurry. I LOVE their 'make your own' salad with the checklist form you fill out, but don't get the large unless you are truly starving. The small will be plenty, trust me. And then you can grab their yummy warm mini-loaf of cheese bread at the register when you pay :) They have breakfast and lunch, and I haven't tried anything yet that I didn't enjoy. All the servers behind the counter are SUPER friendly, and, like someone else said in their review, not in a fake way. They are also very fast, which is a plus, since the place is always very busy and there are only like 8 very small tables to sit at. The best option is definitely to take what you want 'to go'. Sitting in the middle of the lines and chaos isn't for me. Friendly staff, quick service, fresh ingredients, and a gazillion things to choose from that all taste good. What more could you ask of a lunch place in the skyways of MN?

    (4)
  • Michael Z.

This is my go-to lunch spot in the skyway. Tons of delicious options, all at a great price. I always get cravings for either the California Turkey on multigrain or Allie's Chicken Salad on a spinach wrap. The other can't-miss is the Cuban sandwich. Can't go wrong with any of those, and I love that they serve breakfast all day... mmm! I'm consistently impressed not only by the food but also by the friendly staff and very QUICK service!

Not only are Allie's cranberry apple scones delicious, their coffee fresh and satisfying, and their taco salads too tempting to resist when lunchtime calls, but their employees are helpful and genuine. This morning, as I was coming in to work downtown (far too early), I thought I'd treat myself to a scone and a coffee - but when I arrived at Allie's, I asked and sadly found out that they didn't open until 7. However - that didn't stop the amazing Allie's team from welcoming me in as they were prepping for their morning business, serving me the very first scone from the tray, and warmly wishing me a good weekend. Breakfast or lunch, you won't find any better meal in the skyway than Allie's.

    (5)
  • Brittney P.

Love their morning scones :). If your looking for something homemade straight out of the oven instead of defrosted in the microwave try Allie's. They have about 20 different flavors every day! My favorites are the apple cinnamon with whole apple slices throughout and the strawberry rhubarb sprinkled with powdered sugar in the summer.

  • Nancee N.

One of the very best, homemade, food places in the skyway in Downtown Minneapolis. Between the availability of carrots & dip, pre-made salads, fruit, soup and made to order sandwiches, salads, omelets you can do no wrong here. This is great for those that want healthy options or not-so-healthy options. They have it all! The scones are so F*&^ing good! Even if you think you DONT like scones I'll buy you one just so you can taste the deliciousness of their homemade scones. Get their punch card. Aww, incetive for eating good food is free food.

  • Michael G.

For Skyway dining this is a diamond in the rough. They are SUPER quick at lunch time - which is a HUGE PLUS. They definitely have the A team working the lunch hour to move people quickly through the line and along their way. I really appreciate that they accommodate my picky eatery brain and will customize my sandwich accordingly (don't want sprouts - okay what do you want instead!). I have not gotten any of the salads, but they win my award for the healthiest location to eat for lunch. Prices are also very reasonable. I do agree! Skip Panera, Potbelly - go to Allie's!

  • Nazgul W.

I've walked by this place a million times and have always been a bit curious about it but never stopped in, somewhat because it always looks like they're shutting down in the mid-afternoon and I wasn't sure when they closed. Well I finally had a sammich and soup here and it was pretty awesome. Nothing fancy or anything, but I had a turkey and cheese on sourdough with the chipotle mayo and it was a very robust and tasty sandwich. The chipotle mayo really added a kick and probably brought it all up another level. The broccoli cheese soup was pretty standard issue but tasty. The whole sandwich and soup combo gets pretty spendy, especially with a drink, but it was a very filling lunch and I could see how you could get by with just a half sammich and soup. They make everything fresh to order here and I could see returning in the future.

  • Jess W.

I love this place! It's hard to find vegetarian/ vegan options for lunch, without eating a plain salad, but Allie's has a delicious vegetarian wrap (take off the cheese and it's vegan) and a great veggie soup. The cashiers here are the nicest and always use my name and say "thank you," no matter how busy they are.

  • Kent E.

This place is great. Great fresh food and friendly quick service. Scott always says thank you and that they appreciate your business when you check out which is a nice touch and adds to the ma and pa type feel of the place. The only thing that stops me from giving this place 5 stars is their continued forgetfulness when it comes to making the create your own salads. Far too often they forget one or more of the things on your sheet, and in my case it is usually the bacon, which is the most important part, can't forget the bacon. Today they also forgot the sprouts on mine as well. There is really no excuse for it as you hand them the sheet. Their salads are delicious though and if you aren't a salad person this place is probably a 5, but far too many times they have forgot items on my salad, so it is with great reluctance and even sadness I can't give this place 5 stars. I changed my tune. I definitely give this place 5 stars. The deal with forgetting the bacon on my build your own salad has been resolved. Never had that issue in a long time. I think I was a little too picky and tried to nitpick this place too much. This is definitely a five star place and the best place in the SkyWay.

By buddy and I took our bimonthly trip to a new restaurant in Minneapolis. We have passed by Allie's 1,000 times and I always said, we should try there. Then a coworker said their Cuban is awesome. Done and Done! We split a Cuban, since we knew it was huge. It was more than enough for lunch to have half of this sandwich. Let's go into the details. There are 5 counter workers to take the order. They had lots of soup to get and a big board, but we were on a mission. We saw a friend ordering who joined us. Always good. The Cuban was Amazing, not a real Cuban because it wasn't pressed and no pickles, but the pulled pork on top was so succulent and juicy, it was almost tied with the McKenzie Cuban as the best in the Twin Cities that I have had. The roll is a thick ciabbata roll that really makes the sandwich, which also comes with a sweet and juicy au jouir to dip it in. The pork is so fantastic, you must get this if you are here on a Thursday or Friday. Plus the sandwich is like 6 bucks. So for the split it was $3. I can't say enough about this sandwich. Amazin'!

Their menu is great. They've got everything you want for lunch and so many options. I've tried a couple different sandwiches and they've been really good. The staff is also extremely friendly and very grateful to have you as a customer it seems. I've been hitting this spot frequently now as it seems to be some of the best sandwiches I've had downtown. The only reason I can't give it 5 stars is because of how crazy it gets right at lunch hour. It's right in the skyway basically in the Rand Tower across from Potbelly and the line gets insane and it takes you forever to wait for your food and then to pay for it. Also, there's really no place to sit most of the time when it's crowded. It just gets really crammed. Is it worth it though? Yes! Great lunch and very well priced. I leave completely full and satisfied for 8 dollars.

do yourself a favor and get the tomato dill soup. ask for it by the gallon... they won't give it to you, but you're gonna want it. settle for the bowl and then happily roll over and perish, having eaten the best d*mn soup in the entirety of minneapolis. great value, amazing homemade soups and sandwiches, and friendly service. can't beat allie's for an amazing lunch.

Great place to eat, I ordered their pick 2 lunch box menu (chicken noodle soup & avocado BLT). The BLT wrap taste great with good size, and the soup is very good, not the soup come out from a plastic bag. With the same price, better than Panera Bread!!

One a handful of reasons I miss Minneapolis. There is limited seating and it (of course) gets very busy at lunch time. You can order almost anything there - sandwiches (hot & cold), soups, fruit, veggies, salads...the list goes on. They make it all in front of you but have a grab and go area and custom salad option. The staff is one of the friendliest in the Skyway and works very hard to keep everything running and it shows. Prices are reasonable and the food is delicious. What more could you ask?

  • Jacey B.

I love Allie's. It is conveniently located near my office which is a blessing and a curse since then I want to go there for lunch often. Though it is pretty standard deli food, I like to variety of sandwich options and the quality of the ingredients. Though the line is long, the staff works quickly so the wait is minimal. They have a build your own salad option, which is great. Prices are reasonable. Definitely two thumbs up.

Very good salads and wraps here at Allie's Deli. I especially like the Veggie Wrap and Tuna Wrap, each of which I have had many times. I also stop by here for fruit/yogurt cups and coffee. The staff are extremely helpful. Great lunch spot.

Freshest, healthiest breakfast and lunch in all of downtown. They've got all real food. Fresh fruit, carrot and celery tray, great salads, soups and sandwhiches. I love the egg sandwiches in the mornings. this place is top notch! Almost everyone that pays at the registers buys one of their made from scratch scones that come in like 20 different flavors - yum! Also, I must add the staff is SUPER nice and friendly. Something you don't see very often in the busy skyways filled with grumpy over-worked white collar folks.

Love this place! The staff is excellent; the main guy behind the counter (owner?) is very friendly and genuinely grateful for your business. The food is home style and delicious. Can't beat their salads. The make your own small salad is huge and only $5! Breakfast sandwiches are made to order and scones are fresh made. Rather than go to some chain, I love to support this local treasure!

I'll Bottom-Line it: Allie's is one of the best places to get food on the Minneapolis Skyway, bar none. The food is consistent and good. The prices are reasonably low (it is downtown Minneapolis after all). The soups are good and the sandwiches thick. Can't beat that with a stick. A large salad runs a bit over $6.00. And if you don't see the salad you want, they'll make it for you right then and there. The staff is friendly and glad to have your business. Although things move quickly, you never feel rushed by the staff like in so many other places. Best of all, it's not a franchise or a chain. What you spend here, stays local. I recommend them unreservedly.

A skyway gem if I do say so myself. i love the skyway don't get me wrong but SO many of the options are chains and crap/unhealthy fast food. I live in the burbs so when I'm anywhere within a 10 mile radius of the cities I refuse to eat at a chain so the skyway irritates me a bit. Allie's makes me happy. They have daily changing special soups, salads and sandwiches and from what I hear they are all pretty rad. To be honest I've only had two things (i've tried others but only bites of other people's food) here because I love them so much that it's too difficult to choose between them much less the whole menu, which is quite large. My first love here though is the aloha pasta salad. I don't like a lot of pasta salads because they always seem to be missing something (super bland) or way too heavy on other things (usually celery or onion) but One day when i have lots of money laying around I'm going to offer the owner &10,000 for private use of the recipe. Pasta, ham, grapes, mandarin oranges, a hint of crunchy celery (not a ton thank you food gods) and a delicious sweet/savory dressing made with lots of dill, mayo and what I think is a touch of pineapple juice though that's just a guess. I love fresh, light things like this for lunch and this pasta salad is perfect. The only think I think could make it better would be some chicken, maybe jerk seasoned. Idk this salad is wonderful. My mom had a lunch catered by them, brough home a whole tub (probably a gallon or two worth) and I had it devoured within a few days. The other thing I love is the strawberry chicken wrap. MMMMMMM. Grilled chicken, greens, strawberries, mandarin oranges and a homemade poppyseed dressing all wraped up into a pouch of yum. Light, refreshing, healthy...wonderful. This wrap made me love poppyseed dresssing and I now make a killer salad at home with Brianne's dressing that;s really good. Brianne's is good dressing but allie's is better. The workers/owners are all super friendly and seem to genuinely care about the food they serve. Pretty much everything is made in house. I kind of wish they would open a cafe near some green space because I think it would be wonderful.

Went at lunch time and the line was 30 deep (a great sign). Once I finally got my food and tried it i could see why it was so busy and confirmed it was well worth the wait. Best Cuban I have had this side of Miami. Tried the White Chicken Chili it was good not great but I like spicy chili and it was not spicy at all.

Delicious sandwiches and a very friendly staff. Lines can get long at lunch but they are able to produce their food with amazing speed. Try the savory scones, seriously they are fantastic.

I have only ever made to Allie's for breakfast, for which I am a regular. Their omelettes and breakfast sandwiches are on point and they certainly do not short you on your meat choice. Of course they tempt you by putting an array of scones on the counter where you pay, which is pretty much impossible not to give in to. Allie's scones are insanely moist and delicious. The only downside to Allie's is the order flow is a bit quirky.

As part of the swelling Downtown sky way scroungers, Allie's is almost always at the top of my list. Allie's is perfect if you're looking for homemade food with quality and character for very decent prices. The staff, husband and wife owners included, is very professional, quick, and friendly. The lunch rush gets quite chaotic and the counter service station is small. So, keep on your toes and know what you want before stepping up to the counter. Personal favorites include: chicken chili, any/all breakfast sandwiches, Massive Veggie sandwich (toasted), and the California Turkey sandwich (toasted). I tried a large spinach salad once with vegetables, feta, and a chicken breast. The salad was slightly disappointing - the black olives tasted old and the chicken breast was a little funky. So, now i just stick to the homemade soups and monster sandwiches. I have not tried any of their bakery items, but they sit next to the registers and tempt me every time. Add it to my list. If you work Downtown, you must give Allie's a try! It's the perfect lunch spot if you're not looking for greasy fast food or an expensive sit down experience. The price is right and the food is good.

This place is the best! I go regularly for pre-made and to-order salads, and their homemade soups are also amazing. Everything is so fresh and delicious, and you can't beat their prices for the amount of food you get! The crew is terrific: service is friendly, professional and FAST! The line can be off-putting during the lunch rush but you're never in there for long! Truly one of the best places for lunch downtown!

Working downtown is a really great experience, however if you have ever ventured forth into the skyway during lunch you are BERATED with food options, almost to the point of overkill. Of all of the places in the skyway, I vote this as my absolute favorite! You walk by all sorts of places that sell sandwiches, OR pasta, OR salad, OR soup, OR etc. Well why not go to one place that does ALL of that and does it well! Allie's has consistent food quality that makes it seem almost as if it doesn't belong in a small storefront style delicatessen, rather as if it were a sit down restaurant. The staff is very quick about getting your order completed which is nice when you are in a rush during the lunch hour. The food is FANTASTIC! I can't think of a single thing there that doesn't make my mouth water! The wraps are absolutely to die for, and as far as I am concerned their taco salad is a food group! Although you will almost always have to wait in line, it is very quick moving, and unlike some of the other places I have been all of the customers there know that so there is less jostling, sighing annoyedly, and toe tapping. Even if you had to wait a few minutes, the food would still be worth it! Be prepared when you get to the register though, you're in for a real shock. Not only is it gourmet quality food, served quickly with a smile, it's actually reasonably priced! I think I'll head down there now, there's a taco salad with all the fixings calling my name!

Hands down, the best place for scones in the skyway. Sure, it's not as well decorated as Potbelly across the concourse, or the Caribou next door. But, they serve great food at fair prices and they sincerely thank me each time I buy from them. What's more, Allie's is in Rand Tower, my favorite building in Minneapolis. Like it's better known cousin The Foshay, Rand is a 26-story art deco masterpiece designed by Holabird & Root in 1929. The building's namesake, Rufus Rand, was a WWI aviator and heir to the family that owned the Minneapolis Gas Company (later Minnegasco and now CenterPoint Energy). Rand hired Norwegian-born Oskar J.W. Hansen to carve the aviation themed ornamentation on the building along with an amazing gold statue called "Wings" in a hidden-gem of a lobby. (Hansen also designed the huge winged sculptures on the Hoover Dam). So, get your scone from Allie's and take a walk past the elevators, and walk down the spiral staircase and enjoy the splendor.

I love Allie's! They are the quintessential family owned small business that I am happy to support. They are extremely fast and polite and the food is delicious. I always get coffee in the morning for a dollar, which you just can't beat and their scones are delicious. My favorite is the pumpkin with a ridiculous cream cheese topping. I love the make your own salad option which is reasonably priced, delicious, and healthy. Their breakfast sandwiches are delicious too. You can't beat Allie's.

Oh emm effing gee - a spinach and feta scone with real bacon on top. Way to go Allie's - always pushing the limits in delicious and creative ways. Thanks for the great breakfast. Excellent people-watching venue I might add. Busy but not insane.

I've been going to this place for the last 4 years, and am just now taking the time to write this long overdue review. I absolutely LOVE Allie's. It's a local business, and everyone who works there is so friendly, even when the place is packed, which it often is. Their scones will change your life, but make sure you get there early because they go fast. Their sandwiches are amazing, and the multigrain bread is so good, I would eat shoe leather off of it. Soups are great as well. And, the prices are very reasonable, especially by downtown standards. I am currently eating maybe the best BLT of my life from there. I cannot reccomend enough. Get there already!

I'm new to the downtown workforce and had a bit of sticker shock when venturing out for lunch the first couple days! Yes, there are some deals around the skyways if you're fine loading up on deep-fried, extra-mayoed, or torilla-shelled meals. Finding a healthy option for a decent price was becoming a task until I ran into Allie's...now I'm one of their regulars. They have a great selection of salads, soups, and sandwiches all for very normal prices. My favorite item is the "create your own salad" option where you can choose from 40+ greens, veggies, proteins, cheeses, and even fruit! I usually get the small salad (which is more like a medium size once you open up the packed-full to go box) and a soda for around $6. Can't beat that! Like most places in the skyways, they close around 3pm, so grab your lunch before then!

I have ordered lunch here for company lunches twice now and their food have always been good. They make the freshest sandwiches. Their lunchbox usually includes a sandwich, salad or whatever the main entree you choose plus "home-made" desserts, fruit, and a bag of chips. At least that's what we got each time. The clients that eat the lunches we order from Allie's RAVE about their food, which is surprising to me mainly because I usually do not like deli sandwiches. I find them the most boring lunch food ever, but whatever pleases the clients, I'm happy. Somehow, their sandwiches taste really fresh and not so processed or chain-like like the nearby Potbelly's and D'Brian's. There's some homey taste to it and I like that. I also like that I'm supporting a local small business and the folks in there are always so nice. The sweet ladies that bring the food to the office are also wonderful. Their presentation is not the best (simple white lunch boxes), but their food is above the bigger guys. I prefer taste over presentation anyway. I usually go to Allie's for their breakfast and they're great too. I always see their huge scones laid out by the cashier area, but have not tried them yet. My carb alert tells me no, so perhaps one of these days I shall try it. There are huge lines at Allie's for a reason. They're even busier than their next door neigbor Potbelly's and for good reason.

This is a great Friday workday lunch, when you're really not in a hurry to fit lunch in an hour and can walk half a mile to the whatever-building-Allie's is in. Seriously, this part of downtown fascinates me. The skyway to Allie's feels like it was built for a time when people were smaller and/or thinner. But, I digress (it's my favorite kind of "...ess"). I've only been here twice, and the reason why I give it 3 stars vs 4 is 'coz my 1st visit was awesome, and the second visit was great, but not awesome. The 1st visit, I had the Allie's chicken salad sandwich and combined it with a side of Taco John's potato oles. Can't really go wrong with Chicken Salad sandwich. It was really, chunky pieces of white meat which I like, great seasoning, celery, onion, and all that. The second time I got the French dip. I know they probably make the roast beef in-house and take great care doing it, but seeing it getting microwaved with the swiss cheese kind of turned me off a little bit. And, I mean once you nuke something, it just doesn't taste the same anymore. So that really knocked down the stars a bit (Oh my stars!). The french bread was beautifully toasted, but the au jus was the best part of the sandwich, bar none. It was hot and salty and jus-y and yummy.

These guys have kept me well fed for the last couple weeks while working in Minneapolis. They have tons of healthy options for the busy professional who isn't looking to eat a huge hearty meal every time you turn around. They'll make a nice egg white omelet in the morning and have a wonderful make-your-own salad option for lunch. You can even buy veggies for snacking. It's healthy, fast, easy, and very well priced. Oh, and it's a local independent restaurant that makes all their stuff on site, I like that! They will even keep your favorite salad combo on file so you can just call and say "hey, it's Molly, I'll be down for my salad in 5", and voila! 5 minutes later I'm down at their register with my personal salad. Perfect Service. Bravo Allie's!! My only suggestion, I just wish they had avocados!

One of the best lunch spots in the skyway... Everything you want for lunch can be found there! I love the "build your own salad" option. The portions are huge and at totally fair prices. The best part is the service - truly feel like your business is appreciated, even during the busiest of times. Would highly recommend trying this place out!!! GO!!

I started working downtown right after moving here in 2007. On my first day our Administrative Assistant took me on a tour of the skyway, she informed me that Allie's Deli was the go to place for breakfast, lunch and office catering. Fast forwards to now... it still is. Allies offers homemade honest good food. Salads that could rival any of the specialty places on the skyway and sandwiches made to order. Their popularity is apparent with obvious lengthy lines that they manage to expedite quickly and with no hassle. From start to finish you will always be tended to by the friendliest staff possible and told how much they appreciate you. It should also be said that the catering for corporate events is spectacular. You can assure the consistent great food that is never compromising with its high quality. Thank you Allies for showing how it is done right by leading by example.

Allie's is an outstanding lunch option, for those in the skyway/ downtown. First off, don't be scared by the long lines of hangry (hungry + angry) folk that look like they're boarding escape vessels to seek refuge off of the Titanic. They move surprisingly fast, however, you'll have plenty of time to decide what tasty and savory sandwich to devour. I went with the Roast Beef Deluxe, and only had to wait somewhere between five to ten minutes for it. *Roast Beef Deluxe (Roast beef, turkey, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato and red onion with French dressing on marble rye bread.): This was a freshly made sandwich with tasty ingredients. I LOVED that slabs of roast beef and appreciated that the cuts of tomato didn't make the marble rye soggy. The lettuce gave a nice crunch, and the red onion and French dressing (that wasn't overdone) provided just enough sweetness. Oh, and putting a thick piece of cheddar cheese doesn't hurt any sandwich. I don't work downtown anymore, but if I did, I would visit Allie's often. Hm, I'm sort of drooling just thinking about it. Thanks to Michael G and Mary Jo C for the recommendation!

I've worked downtown for all of three days now and my coworkers insisted that I go to Allie's with them as a right of passage since it's a staple breakfast/lunch spot for them. I had a breakfast sandwich that was simply delicious, but I really want to comment on the amazing customer service. All the employees were so genuinely kind and personable that I practically wanted to hop behind the counter and spend the rest of my morning with them :) Thanks for a great kick-off to my day, Allie's! I'll be back in no time to try the rest of the noms.

Great sandwiches, best I've found downtown so far. Definite recommendation from me. The full Turkey Club deluxe is enough for two meals. It and a drink & chips and I was still under $10 for a great lunch.

I've only just started working in the Rand Tower and Allie's Deli is a great discovery. Friendly waitstaff and fresh food! My favorite is a deconstructed croissant - eggs scrambled on the side and crispy bacon. For lunch I love the taco salad or egg salad wrap.

I love allies. It is by far the best deli in the skyway. All of their soups and sandwiches are great, but the white chicken chili and the super club deluxe are the cream of crop.

GO!!

You can usually see a long line at Allie. It is a hot spot. But the line moves fast! Their staff works fast! Their receipt for food is interesting, different from others. They have a lot of options too! The taste is OK

Yum.

I've only just started working in the Rand Tower and Allie's Deli is a great discovery. Friendly waitstaff and fresh food! My favorite is a deconstructed croissant - eggs scrambled on the side and crispy bacon. For lunch I love the taco salad or egg salad wrap.

I'm a fan.

I love allies. It is by far the best deli in the skyway. All of their soups and sandwiches are great, but the white chicken chili and the super club deluxe are the cream of crop.

GO!!
