Avoid this place! Tables were dirty and the place smells terrible. Only one person doing drinks and waiting on tables. I had the club sandwich and it was slimey and oily. You could tell the oil for the fries has not been cleaned in awhile cause they had a terrible after taste... Complete waste of money and as I was eating and looking around the place I started gagging thinking of how disgusting the kitchen probably is since we can't see it.

Great food and friendly staff. I initially came here for a groupon and I've been back now once or twice a week, every week since then. Totaling over a dozen times easy. Their burgers are to die for! They have two for ones till seven making them easy on the wallet. The place is spotless, even the bathrooms were clean. Now they've put a fire pit and grills out on the patio. Love this place!

One word. Ghetto. I've gone here twice and it was an interesting experience. I don't normally go out to very many bars/clubs, but this is the only one I've been scanned with a metal detector at before walking in.

Don't go here with plans to order a mojito. They only serve Budweiser and Long Islands. However, karaoke is always a blast at Freddy's.

Defiantly a townie bar and restaurant, my boyfriend and I went in on a Tuesday with a groupon in hand. Got there to find out that it was trivia night. Trivia night was pretty fun but it distracts you from your food. But about the food... It was very greasy bar food. I got the tiki burger which was just a burger with pineapple on top and I sub for some onion rings. And the boyfriend got a burger with jalapeños on top with very salty fries on the side. Overall nothing too exciting and very greasy. This place would have gotten a higher rating if our drinks weren't as bad as they were. Maybe we order the wrong things but in addition to trivia Tuesday it was taco night with margaritas on special. So we got one strawberry and one lime margarita on ice and it was like drinking flavored fruit drink with a ton of sugar and ice. It was very bad considering it was a bar. The groupon made the bill not as bad it was but without the groupon I don't think I would go there again.

I live on a houseboat, so dining at a restaurant that calls itself a 'Tiki Hut' was irresistible. If you're interested in dining al fresco on the cheap, Freddy's is your place. Their outside seating area is a great place to gather with friends. The drinks are cheap. The atmosphere is tropical. The staff is friendly. Freddy's also offers a well executed bar menu. Since we arrived on a Tuesday, We had 3 tacos on Tuesday at the tiki bar for $5.95 along with $3 margaritas. The tacos were better than you'd expect from a bar. The taco shells were crispy and deep-fried to order. They were assembled with care -- and pride. We also ordered some lightly-battered chicken fingers with honey mustard. It convinced us that Freddy's might be a good destination for Friday fish. Freddy's in St Paul provides an authentic neighborhood 'Tiki Hut' experience. It mimics the beach-side Gulf bars you find in Florida and Alabama. It is a stark contrast to Psycho Suzie's in Minneapolis, which is intended to be grand. Both locations deliver on their intentions.

I almost never give a one star review, but my wife and I drove 20 miles to go here with a Groupon and the bartender came out and said the kitchen wasn't open. Are you serious!? It's 4th of July across from a pretty lake and park. You can't turn on a grill and make bar food? 20 Frickin' miles to a place that looks like a dump. I am asking Groupon for my voucher money back. So Angry.

Wow this place is bad. If you want drinks the bar area is pretty nice BUT avoid food at all cost! The burger that we ordered was tasteless and the ingredients that they used were very low grade. Their cheap cheese was so waxy my husband started gagging after a few bites. Then there was the chicken wings.... Hmmmm. What did they do to their chicken wings? Why was it so dry? Their Freddy rub was clearly a big disappointment. Even though our server was super friendly we will not be returning.

I took my 90 year old Mom here for lunch one day, because I had a Groupon. We ended up not using the Groupon because the cost of the lunch (burgers and beers) for the two of us was $9 less than the value of the Groupon, so we saved the Groupon to come back with my hungry brother. In fact, the first time I brought Mom here, she took one look at the menu and gasped, "Oh my, look at the prices!" I asked what was wrong and she said, "They are so low!" Their happy hour is two for one - nuff said? Mom just had a California burger, which she loved, which is remarkable as she is incredibly fussy, the second and third times, she had her new love, Freddy's Philly cheese steak sandwich. I was able to indulge my life's guiltiest pleasure, which is their nutty burger with cheese (and there was no charge to add cheese to the burger!) Once I had the potato skins, which appalled my mom ( she thinks potato skin is garbage) but then after she tried one (I'd ordered them as my main dish) I had to slap her hand away and tell her to eat her own food. My bro has ordered the Tiki burger the last three times we were there. Speaks for itself. Once we had the ham and cheese pin wheels. When they came out, they looked a little thin on the plate, and I was disappointed UNTIL I dipped one in the ranch dip and knew I'd be ordering them again. Plan on taking a to go box home with half your food, because there will be a lot of it. IT has a clean and pleasant environment. THE service was very good. I'd just be careful about going for dinner on a night when they have the Texas hold 'em poker as everything is a little slower and a lot louder. BUt otherwise, for value and good food that isn't overly fancy, go here.

If you want a dang good burger and fries, this is a great place to go. Big half pound juicy burger, toasted bun, and their new lightly seasoned fries are fantastic too. 8.95 which is about the going rate right now.Ive had their tacos twice. One time they were great, and one time not so great.

Thanks Freddy's! Thanks for great food! Great atmosphere! And GREAT service! Found a Groupon for this place and went to check it out. I read all the reviews on Yelp and Trip Advisor and knew they were pretty much all over the map. Yet, I found a few intriguing things on the menu so decided it was worth a try. Because the place is under new management, I asked our server when the management change took place, so I could "sort" through the reviews I had read and to make sense of them versus what we experienced. First impression, the place is very clean, the décor spacious and fun, and we really enjoyed the Tiki decorations. Although the name and décor have no connection to the menu, it does make for a visually enjoyable atmosphere. All reviews I read that mentioned the place being dirty are all pre-management change. This is clearly something the new management has remedied. Very few of the reviews evaluate the food at Freddy's and the majority of those that do, review it favorably. We had the Classic Italian Hoagie, and it was one the best hoagies I have ever had at a restaurant. Next time, I'll ask for more lettuce, but it was delicious with high quality bread, meats and a great sauce. It came with their fresh cut fries which are A-#1. I would suggest a bit less salt, but they are the second best fresh cut fries I have ever had at a restaurant. (Hubby and I eat out nearly every night of the week, so we've had some experience.) We also had the chili cheese dogs. I've been eating "coney's" since I was a young child giving me approximately 50 years of experience, and I am going to rate these as my best and very most favorite ever, ever, ever. Again, high quality bun and hot dog, and the chili was perfect. Prices are extremely reasonable. The coney's were $7 and the hoagie $9. You can't get a hamburger for under $10 these days, and the quality of these ingredients, not to mention the amount of labor in them, beat a burger hands down. And with 2 for 1 drinks....don't bother with the Groupon, you can't hardly spend enough to make it worthwhile. And the service was F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C! I wish I had gotten her name, so I could give her kudos here. I just know she is a cute blonde with a very vibrant, personality and is very good at math . (We needed that in helping to figure out how to determine how to use our Groupon.) (Only one negative, because we really, really liked this place, might I gently suggest that managers should be dressed professionally, because when they aren't, it kind of demeans the quality of your brand. And your brand is great.) We will definitely be back. And while I wanted to try several other things on the menu, I'm very afraid we will end up having the same two things over and over because they were just so darn good. Please go to Freddy's and tell me about their pizza and dry rub wings. I really want to try them, but I just don't think I ever will .

Used to go to this place a lot several years ago. Back then it was "The Chalet" and they had karaoke most night. We stopped in here this weekend out of the blue to check out the changes. First... Tiki Bar? I was expecting Psycho Suzi's based on that. You know a Polynesian theme, fruity drinks, pirates. Cute waitress girls in coconut tops. That sort of thing. The only tiki decorations they had were: 3 light-up neon palm trees, one per wall and fake bamboo on the lights over the bar counter. That, my friends, was the extent of the tiki decorations. Now it's possible that maybe they had some more outside in the summer, but there weren't any now. Hardly what I'd call a tiki bar. They did make some changes to the place. They knocked out several walls, and rotated the bar 45 degrees. It gives the place a feeling of openness. It seems much larger now. Good call there. I ordered a bacon chesseburger with onion rings. The rings were pretty good. I liked them. The burger was awful though. You know how when you use too much lighter fluid on the grill? That weird butane taste. Thats all I could taste in the burger. I think it was coming from the bacon... once I took the bacon strips off, it tasted a little better, but it was still pretty bland. It's pretty hard to screw up a burger, but it wasn't good at all. I hear their specialty is pizza... but we didn't try it. The drinks were reasonably priced for a dive bar. And from 9-10pm they did two for ones. The entertainment was terrible. They had a "DJ". DJ Papa D or something like that. It was just some dude playing songs off his laptop. No mixing, No mashups, No bass drops, No actual "DJing". Just some dude clicking play on iTunes in his laptop. LAME. At least bring back the karaoke! I mean, they already have a touch tunes jukebox - whats the point of the DJ doing the same thing? I dunno. It wasn't that great. We might give it another shot, since we spent literally every weekend there doing karaoke for several years when we were in our twenties. We might go back one more time or two out of nostalgia. It's not a place I would recommend though.

Look at all these low ratings! I'll give ya a pat on the back, Freddy's. I was there for the first time last weekend and my husband and I had a blast! Meat raffle? Check. 2-4-1s? Check. Pull tabs? Check. Townies? Check. Sure you see "tiki" in the name and picture Psycho Suzi's, but really? In this location? Let's lower our expectations a little bit here kiddos. The best part? On Fridays and Saturdays they'll drive you home for free thanks to their partnership with Last Call car service! We'll definitely be back.

After seeing the sign "Under New Management" I decided to give this place a shot. I stopped by on a Saturday Night and half the tables were wide open. However, we were instructed we couldn't sit there, why don't you cram into this table over here with some strangers and sit there for 10 minutes. The staff was friendly about it but it seamed odd. After getting drinks and trying to watch the game my eye wondered wondering why is she wearing that outfit, and when did I fall into this tax bracket. Not a minute later I was approached by a customer wanting to know what size pants I wear. Apparently he has pants for sale (I didn't ask where he acquired them). After repeatedly saying no he finally left us alone. We quickly paid our check and left. I wish this place luck.

I have never written a review on restaurants before but do check out all the reviews. After initially reading some of the reviews on yelp, I was hesitant to go to Freddy,s Tiki Hut. When you first walk in you get a slight urge to turn back around but I was glad I Stayed. Service was a bit slow and we had to help ourselves to the menus. We got some beers from a very nice bartender and she got us the waitress. She apologized for being held up by a meeting, and she was attentive after that. We tried the Philly Cheese Steak, Mushroom Burger and the State Fair Cheesecurds. The food came in a respectfully quick time. My cheese steak was very tasty with a fresh bun, which makes the sandwich. Our fries were cooked perfectly and the Cheesecurds were good but not the state fair type. My girlfriends mushroom burger was cooked exactly the way she wanted it, medium rare. Ever since the red hamburger meat scare of a few years ago we can't find a restaurant that has ever cooked our burgers the way we want them, Freddy's DID!! It was very juicy with great mushrooms and cheese. We will be back, if not only for the food but people watching was a hoot!

Went there for a date and it was empty, first bad sign. When I went inside I found out why. Got a drink at the bar, took it outside to the patio. The cook then followed us outside and hocked a huge lugie right behind our table. Then he sat at the table right next to us (empty patio), smoked, and spit at least three more times. The cherry on this disgusting sundae was when he rinsed out his mouth with a glass of water and spit ALL OVER THE PATIO. If this is how the cook acts in front of people, what is he doing when we CAN'T see him? I shudder at the thought. It got worse when we moved inside to the bar. One of the three people in there was a grizzled old drunk who shouted at me from across the bar and told me he was going to throw a bottle of beer at my head. Then my man and I got to hear him proposition the drunk lady sitting next to him... I'm not a prude but the pickup lines he was using were FILTHY. The bartender just kept drinking his own beer with no regard or concern for the safety of the woman being verbally accosted... And he couldn't care less that Grizzly McDrunkard had threatened me with a bottle to the head. Tiki bar? Tiki my ass! Putting a cheesy palm tree on your front door is not enough to carry out your "theme". I'd rather cram coconut slivers in my eyeballs and hang myself with a hula skirt than visit the tiki hut again.

The service is usually somewhat slow. Its usually a little loud. The burgers are some of the best around though.

A group of 16 of us went there to have some drinks and appetizers of Friday afternoon. We got there around 5pm and the place was about half full. The waitress greeted us right away and brought us our drinks fast! (2 for 1's). We ordered A Wing Platter and a couple of Pizzas. The Pizza was one of the best i have ever had, the wings where huge and done perfectly! All the staff was fun and I had the chance to meet John one of the owners, he bought us a drink and thanked us for coming in. We only planned on staying for a few and ended up leaving at 10:30. I love this place and we are all going back again this Friday!
