Food was below average. But the way the manager (Jen) spoke to the staff was embarrassing and uncomfortable.

Fast food better than TJ and TB because the tortillas are KILLER! Chilitos are a good old stand-by as well as the taco burrito. The enchiladas are also nice but a tad pricey for what you get. I get mad at them though when they take the RED CHILI burrito off the menu. They only have it during the hellish days of deep Minnesota winter. If they had it year round I would be an every other day visitor. I am baffled by their insolence as I have complained LOUDLY. For fast food frenzy, this place is tops though..

The flavor of childhood. I grew up eating at Zantigo. It's cheap Mexican fast food, but higher quality than Taco Bell. The chilitos are fabulous!

I admit that even though Im a huge fan of Mexican food, I avoided Zantigo for many years. I used to see the building across from the CUB (once a Holiday) and thought it looked like a low-budget spot crammed into an old Pizza Hut. A few years ago, however, a co-worker of mine was singing their praises and convinced me to check it out. Ive made it an occasional stop ever since then. For those who arent familiar with Zantigo, it is indeed a fast food restaurant. They have a similar menu to Taco Johns and the pricing is somewhere between Taco Johns and Taco Bell. But, in my opinion, the quality is far superior to bot. I particularly like the regular taco. It's far superior to the crunchy tacos at any fast food Mexican place Ive had. They also have Tigo Fries which are the same as the Potato Ole--I like those too. It's too bad there arent more of these around the city--they all seem to be on the "other" side of the river. But, it definitely is a good option for Mexican fast food if you have a choice between the three. I would also recommend getting a rewards card if you plan on stopping by regularly. Pros: Excellent quality compared to TB and TJ's, inexpensive, tasty tacos, multiple locations Cons: I wish there were more of these in the Minneapolis area, not as cheap as Taco Bell (but not as expensive as Taco Johns)

As others have mentioned, Zantigo's is a fast food Mexican joint located right off University in Fridley. I had never heard of the place until a co-worker suggested it for lunch. I have been here a number of times and I would really give the place 3.5 stars, but I am going to round down to a 3. Okay, here's the deal. I have tried a number of things off the menu: the chicken quesadilla, chicken and veggie burritos, and the ever popular chilitos. Honestly, the combos are a bit pricey for what you're getting. A quesadilla and a medium soda is over $7 with tax. I realize this isn't bank robbingly expensive, but I can get a better quesadilla at Panchero's for the same price or a really cheap quesadilla for less than $3 at Taco Bell if I'm feeling really cheap. I mean, for $7 I can get a giant burrito bowl at Chipotle. What this really boils down to is that Zantigo is not in my top three picks for quick service Mexican. The chilitos are good, but you need to use a ton of their hot sauce to give it flavor (and that's even when you order the hot chilito). The hot sauce here is really good, though! The 'Tigo fries are good but always wayyyyy too salty. One tip: NEVER go through the drive-thru unless you have time to kill. It has been SO slow every time I gone through it. One time I purposely sat in the line rather than going inside because I knew it would help me finish my current episode of "Serial" before getting home. No joke, the drive thru has taken up to 10 minutes with only three cars in front of me. Zantigo's is ultimately an okay place for some fast Mexican, but it does leave some to be desired.

I'm from out of town on business and my group needed a quick place to pick up some lunch. I had a burrito bowl that was unfortunately drenched in sour cream. If sour cream is your thing, then it is a go to. But I thought it was slightly disgusting. And the ingerdients just lacked in freshness and flavor. I left there with a stomach ache.

Great tacos, step up from Taco Bell. Yummy. Will come back when in the area. Heard great reviews from friends

I don't know how to rate this place... The service was great! Very friendly. The food on the other hand feels like a mexican restaurant that a white guy would make. I see hispanic workers in the kitchens of MOST restaurant these days, from low end to high end... no offense, but a 20 something blond chick shouldn't be making my burrito.

This was.... not what I was expecting. When I looked for a place to satisfy my craving for Mexican food and Zantigo popped up, I said "what the hell." When I walked in the place I felt like I had walked into a combination of Taco Bell and KFC. Surprisingly the food was not that bad, but this is definitely a Mexican fast food joint; not a single patron was Hispanic; that should tell you everything.

I ate there once. The burrito was as tasteless as the paper it was wrapped in. I lived in New Mexico for a while and grew up on the West coast. Finding good Mexican food is important to me. And Zantigos is not good Mexican food. It is barely good enough to be considered fast food in my opinion. Service was rude, sauce was way too mild and tasteless (even the "hot"). Will never return. I would rather go to Taco Bell or Taco John.

The reason for the 3 star rating is I like there food, never really had any problems with that, but when I go there and order food and they say they are out of that item or items. It's happened more than once and not sure if it's poor planning or what the deal is...

If you're from Colorado or New Mexico, you KNOW what green chile is. This place serves it up as good as it gets around these parts. The flavor's close enough to keep your sanity between trips back home.

I wouldn't normally write a review of a fast-food type restaurant, but I had Zantigo's for the first time today and I really wish there were a closer location. The pork taco was really good. I'll definitely be going back again.

Zantigo's is BOMB. Not as cheap as T Bell but the best fast Mexican out there. It's exclusivity makes it kind of fun, as well. They kind of get you on the price by asking you to add cheese, sour cream, guacamole, etc, but it's worth it to pay extra for it. Well worth it, I'm on my way there now. They also offer free wifi which is a big plus when you're in need. The hot chilito is recommended.

We sampled a few things here -- the green chile items were really good as were the pulled pork tacos. The items that are similar to what you might get at a Taco Bell/Taco John's, like a ground beef soft shell taco w/lettuce, tomato, and cheese were kind of bland. So, if you're open to try the unique items on the menu I think you'll be satisfied but if you just want a fast food taco like the one's most people are used to, you might be disappointed.

SOOOO Goood! I love their chilitos. The food is always hot and tasty. However, order the tigo fries w/o salt.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
