Smashburger is a great fast casual place to grab a quick burger. I went to Smashburger quick over lunch for the first time. I had the avocado ranch burger. It had bacon, lettuce, ranch, and avocado on it. It was a good burger for "fast" food! I also split the sweet potato fries with my friend and they were amazing. I really like that Smashburger allows you to get creative with your burger rather than just serving plain burgers. If you are still hungry, they have milkshakes!

First smash burger I've ever been to & have to say it's my new favorite burger place. I had the bacon smash burger & my husband had the mushroom & Swiss. Both were amazing! Kids had the kids chicken strips & a harvest salad with grilled chicken. I snagged a piece of the chicken strips & they were possibly the best chicken strip ever. Daughter loved the salad, it was bigger than her head. I loved the onion haystacks, my favorite type of onion ring, but if you are looking for a big fat onion ring, they won't do. Now the smash burger fries I wasn't so keen on. They were OK & I think would be much better if we had a chicken sandwich, just didn't pair well with a hamburger. Overall, great food, very friendly staff-was impressed. They need bigger to go boxes though. I will definitely be visiting a Smashburger when I'm near one again!!

Smashburger first caught my eye because the logo looks suspiciously like that used by GameStop, a chain of video game stores. They employ the same fonts and color schemes, as well as the smash-two-words-together approach. Fortunately, I didn't wander into the wrong place the first time I tried Smashburger. I tried the jalapeno burger with grilled chicken and a gluten-free bun, buffalo fries and a beverage. Word to the wise: Smashburger apparently doesn't do combo meals, and if you don't want to drop $2 on a fountain drink, say "no" when asked if you want a drink. I was surprised that the cost of my meal had risen by about 20 percent once the price of the drink was taken into account. The sandwich was a pleasant surprise. The pepperjack cheese and jalapenos gave it a good kick, which was balanced well by the avocado topping's creamy semi-sweetness. The gluten-free bun tasted the same as a "normal" bun, and it's worth noting that there are other bun options, including an egg bun. The fries were a disappointment. I'd expected them to be thicker, and the buffalo spice was too salty and abundant. I'd expected them to be seasoned with buffalo sauce. The ranch dressing helped balance their flavor, but it didn't fix the problem. Will I return to Smashburger? Yes, but next time I'll choose a different side and skip the soda. And I might dine in rather than get take-out, as the seating area is fairly upscale for a fast-food restaurant.

It'm my family's new favorite burger joint. Extra credit for having gluten-free buns available, so I can actually eat there like a "normal person."

Here like all three smashburgers I have been to the place was clean and pretty well organised. The food is expensive for fast food but the smash fries are yummy and the mushroom and swiss burger cant be beat. Eat here! you will be broke but happy.

There isn't necessarily anything wrong with Smashburger its just there isn't necessarily anything spectacular either. I've been here a handful of times and tried several of their burgers, all the types of fries and nothing really stands out for me. It is certainly better than typical fast food burgers but in my opinion Smashburger does not compare favorably to say a Five Guys or any mom/pop diner in the area. I don't care for the prices either i just feel like what I pay for doesn't satisfy me. One thing I did like, actually two things: 1. They used to have a buy 1 get 1 free coupon at the nearby Rainbow foods, now its a Cub and I dunno if the coupon is still out there. 2. Service and problem resolution are very good. Never had a bad experience with any employees, they are always courteous and not crabby and if a problem does arise the manager quickly fixes it. I gave this joint 5+ tries to wow and capture me as a loyal customer but meh they just didn't so I stopped going.

Great food, fast service, nice people and clean. What more can you ask for. Keep up the great work smashers.

Smashburger is a great restaurant falling in between the fast food burger chains like Burger King and Culvers and sit-down restaurants like Red Robin and Applebees, etc. on the burger spectrum. My "likes" - -Several fry options! I looooove Smashburger fries, they are thin and crispy and oh-so-good. I have tried the regular fries and their smashburger fries- both are fantastic. I love that they also offer sweet potato fries too! -Online ordering option. In a hurry? Use online ordering before you go! I'm glad I used it last time I was there- I got to bypass a line of about 7 people and pick up my meal right away! Winning! -Great flavors and different bun options. Everything tastes and looks very fresh! -Their patio is dog friendly! I make a point to patronize any restaurant that allows dogs in their outside seating area. It's a small outdoor area, but my pups appreciated being included!! My "dislikes" - -I ordered the Baja Chicken sandwich and fries and I was very surprised how greasy it was. Kind of gross seeing all of the grease on the table when I was cleaning up! Overall, a delicious burger joint and I will definitely go back!

Walked in to pick up a online order and was ignored for 8 min or more without even an acknowledgement that I was waiting. The guy on the register was busy but the woman making shakes could have at least could have made eye contact and say will be right with you. Very poor customer service.

I am dangerously addicted to this place. The twin cities burger is perfect. I've gone in intending to order other items, but I always end up with the twin cities, because other than victory 44's 'perfect burger' this is the best burger in the metro area. Friendly staff are handing out coupons for free sides this week, so I'll probably head back tomorrow

I've never been disappointed at this place. The staff is super friendly, polite and accommodating. The burgers are really tasty and reasonably priced for what they are. I'm in love with the barbeque bacon cheddar smash. It's... delicious, but not quite as good as what I slapped together one day. Okay. Picture this: An egg bun, lettuce, bacon, red onion, barbeque sauce, pickles, pepper jack and love. Order it. Everything but your thighs will thank you. I love that this place serves beer, as well. There's something about a burger and a beer that you absolutely cannot beat. They also have a small little outdoor dining area for the one month it's warm here in Minnesota. I've gotten several of my friends hooked on this place in the last few months. It's nice to actually be able to get a burger and taste how fresh the meat is... you can absolutely tell from the first bite that it's not just some crappy preformed patty. And ultimately, I'd rather pay 8-9 dollars for a 'combo' (burger and side) here than I would somewhere terrible like the golden arches any day. Eat here. You won't be disappointed. You may fall into a meat coma... but you won't be disappointed.

I must begin this review my speaking about the staff. Unfortunately, the young lady who took our order made it very clear that she wasn't happy about something. Since we'd never seen her before, we were sure that it couldn't have been us. Now, the food here is ok. Not even remarkably ok...just ok. If I'd been stuck at a hospital unable to eat flavorful food, then I'd probably love these burgers and fries. I got the Twin Cities burger, my hubby the one that has Chipotle mayo and guacamole. This burger was way too wet and squishy. He had a hard time keeping everything inside it. My burger was alright. It was actually cooked well, which I appreciated. Son had the kids' burger, which he promptly covered with ketchup. Not he liked his burger. Now, the fries. We got the smash fries, which are supposed to have rosemary. They had a "hint" of rosemary. I was hoping that they'd be a little like the wonderful rosemary fries from Salut. No, I wasn't looking for something of that caliber, but decent would have been great. Well, the fries weren't even warm. I could have had that from a certain golden arches location instead of here. We don't eat fries much, so they MUST be worth it for us to eat more than a few. We came here because we had a deal. Based on the service and the food, we've no reason to return. We're going to try a place closer to home. Hopefully, the review following that visit will be more joyfully written.

I always enjoy a good burger and usually don't have Smashburger in my consideration set, but after discovering the Truffle Mushroom Swiss burger last week I've been back twice (which says a lot for me). It's quickly becoming one of my favorite burgers, although Gordon Ramsey might cringe at the truffle oil. But I love the mushrooms and melty goodness of Swiss cheese with a hint of truffle. Also can't have a burger without the smashfries (it can be a little oily though).

Yummy burgers! Smash burger never ceases to amaze me. What a difference between MCDonald and thud place. Most of the ingredients are fresh and the grilled chicken club is simply awesome. Don't forget to order the fries and don't forget to mention "seasoned". Otherwise they give you plain fries. I go out to this place with my colleagues during lunch times. We decided we would go there atleast once a week.

I'm always amazed at how new burger joints can pop up and be relevant, but they keep doing it... Smash Burger is clearly one that has risen to the hype. The spicy Baja is a great twist on the classic burger. It's a great blend of uniqueness while still capturing the classic burger feel. Add to that, the smash fries are really outstanding. Overall, the place has a nice layout and the staff always seems friendly. It's a great place for lunch if you're alone or with a small group. Food portions hit it right on as well.

Its been a few years since I have reviewed and I have been eating here recently so I am updating. They make a pretty decent burger, I get the build your own so I don't get the smash sauce as I am not a fan. I am a fan of their BBQ burger, their olive oil rosemary smash fries, their sweet potato fries and their haystack onions. The service has been consistently good and online ordering is easy. It can get very busy during lunch time so ordering online is a great option. I would say that is better than all other fast food options in terms of taste and quality of ingredients and better than many sit down restaurants. The burger patty should be the star of the show and it gets lost because its just not seasoned enough. If it was seasoned properly I think that would elevate the flavor tremendously which is why I like the BBQ burger. All that being said, they are consistently pretty good and its nice to have a place close by to get a decent burger.

I've been to a few Smashburgers and have tried a few of the different types they offer which the menu is listed all off on their website. The burgers are greasy and good though when I asked where the calorie count was they told me online but its not listed anywhere on their website so its a mystery count on how much fat your consuming but who really cares when its so delicious?! When you place your order up front they give you your cup to fill up with the beverage of your choice then off you go to find a table if its not busy during a dinner or lunch rush and get seated with a number sign where they find you once the food is done and bring out your food. I thought the burgers were better than five guys and many other burger joints, follow them on twitter and get all the latest new menu items they have or specials like bogo on a snow storm day during the winter (that is if you can make it out there)

Two lunches and OUT! I went a second time yesterday and asked for the Manager. When the manager came I let him know about the last experience and likened it to shaving the top third of a salt lick and smashing that into the meat....mmm freakin gross! So, after that talk and no remorse on his part...I still sat there with three friends and attempted lunch again. OK, this time the fries were better and the malt was tasty...the burger sucked poo poo! this is the last time I will head out to salt burger!

My first time. Went mid week mid day. Cashier was helpful. Burger with bacon onion tomato lettuce. It was splendid. Fried pickles tasted great but I would prefer them to be a bit more crispy. Manager (Rob?) was friendly and helpful coming by to help.

So much better than the other traditional quick burger places. I didn't have to eat for the next day. Totally smashed over the Classic Smashburger. Literally - I need about 12 napkins to stay clean. The 1/3 pound was more than I could handle, although I'm sure some do enjoy the full 1/2 pound. What I was impressed with is that they are a burger joint at least tries to give some veggie options besides a lettuce salad. I enjoyed my side of Veggie Frites - steamed/slightly crunchy asparagus spears, carrots sticks and green beans with a great olive oil and herb topping. Oh, and a great cream dipping sauce! The Smashfries are ok - gotta like rosemary though to enjoy them. Real excited about the fried egg option. All in all, it was a smashing take out experience and the staff was really great!

I have been meaning to get to Smashburger to try it out. I am very sorry I waited so long! My burger was great, the side items were amazing and they have veggie options as well. DO NOT miss out on the smash fries with rosemary and garlic. These are probably the best fries I have every had!

I really love the food at Smashburger. The twins cities burger is the best, in my opinion. Those who have had the BBQ burger give it a "fair" rating--I have seen the burger - looks fairly dry. Anyway - the is a true "grease" burger delight. Great fries---something very different than usual. Service is okay at best. It is what it is. If you have a nice cashier and runner - the service is as good as it gets. Have had both good and mediocre employees working here. But that doesn't matter because you are there for the food.

Good burgers. The fancy fries are flavorful. I like that there is different sizes of burgers, don't have to order something I am not going to finish.

Stopped into new Smash Eagan today and ordered takeout for 6 of us. Arrived at home with what turned out to be half the order. Called the manager who apolgized and asked me to return for the other half. Upon arrival he reversed the original charge and gave us a few freebies for future use. Super response on his part. I would rate the burger close to Five Guys, but the fries are weak in comparison. Nice to have a new option in Eagan.

I wasn't going to write reviews of fast food chains, and generally, I will still adhere to that rule. However, I think Smashburger deserves an exception since it's still so new. Another reviewer mentioned that this chain is trying to become the Chipotle of burgers...I don't disagree, and I don't think that's a bad thing either. I have no problem with a fast food chain that wants to offer quality food at a little slower pace than a drive-thru. I haven't eaten at McDonald's or Taco Bell in years, but that doesn't mean I don't want a quick burger or burrito every now and then. I've been to Smashburger twice...the first time I tried the Spicy Baja Burger with the Smashfries...loved it. Greasy, and good ingredients and plenty of jalapenos. Last night, I went with the Avocado Chicken and sweet potato Smashfries...awesome! The chicken was juicy, not dry at all and I loved the sweet potato fries even more than the regular ones. Great combo. I haven't' tried the malts yet...I don't know how anyone could eat an entire sandwich, fries and still have room for a malt. Maybe if I fasted for 24 hours prior to my visit. This location is spotless, and I actually like the decor. It's simple but not as sparse as Chipotle. Nice booths and lighting. Staff was...almost too enthusiastic, but you know what? I'll take that over surly any day of the week.

Love the product...hate the inconsistent service. Why do they only have one door that is always blocked by customers waiting forever to order a fast food burger? Why is there two registers but only one staff member? Why do sometimes they put toppings on per menu and other times start asking you to choose each individually? You'd think corporate would visit this place and realize you could double the revenue if it wasn't such a cluster f#%k. Good luck to Smashburger in the future... I'll never know because I'll never go back after today.

Since my husband works nearby, we tend to frequent Smashburger often. Never had a bad experience, take out or dine in, it's been great. Good food, good service. Keep it up!

I would say this is a solid non-fast food burger joint. They offer both malts and shakes (bonus points for the malts!), a variety of interesting burgers, and SUPER good fries. The fries in fact would have bumped this up to a 4.5 if I could do that. I suggest trying the Rosemary fries and Spicy Baja burger.

I finally visited Smashburger. Lets me starts with the food. I had the Classic American Cheeseburger and smash fries, and all I can say is wow, one of the best burgers I ever had, only next to Wild Bills and the Heart Attack Grill, it was absolutely fantastic. I was also really impressed with the guest service. Jeremy the manager stopped my our table 3 different times to see how we were doing and to see if we needed anything. He was also very authentic and genuine in his conversation. You could also tell that he was really excited to be there, and was really excited and happy to tell me why a smashburger is called a smashburger. As far as the food and the guest service goes, Smashburger get a perfect 5 stars. My reason for the three stars is for two reasons. First of all I think that it was over priced. If this was a sit done and order restaurant I would have been happy paying what I paid, but considering it was fast food style, I really do believe that it was a bit over priced. My wife and I both got a burger fries and drink, and my two kids got a kids meal, and we paid $32 and some change. My other reason for the 3 stars it that when we got there, there was not one table to sit at, we went with my sister and her family and we had to wait for a table to sit at, and when we did get a table, actually we got the bar, two of us had to stand. Granted is was the middle of lunch rush on a Saturday, but still, it was a part of my experience. Overall, yes, I would recommend Smashburger, and I will go back again.

burger was good, fries were hard like shoestring potatoes. service was not great. the cashier Kiana was rude acted like it was a hassel to take the customers order and when i asked a question, she yawned in my face!

Possibly the best quick burger you can get in the Twin Cites. And that's saying something in the land of the Juicy Lucy. The Twin Cities burger they taunt you with when you walk through the door might just kill you, but it will be a glorious death. All of that gooey swiss and cheddar cheese, with those deliciously grilled garlic onions--it might clog your arteries, but it'll also stimulate your dopamine receptors, so I'd say it's a wash. Oh, and the sweet potato smashfries are like a slice of fried-and-tossed-with-olive-oil-and-rosemary-and-garlic heaven. If you haven't tried em, you're doing yourself a disservice.

Decent burger, not as good as Burger Moes or Five Guys

  • R P.

A great place for a good tasting burger and a chili. Try the Twin Cities burger layers of melted cheddar bar cheese, Swiss cheese and garlic grilled onions with lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise on an onion bun. The Beefy Chili tender beef, fresh jalapeno slices and grated cheddar cheese. A good selection of local beers are available on ice. I took this food home with me to eat. The place was not busy at the time I was there so the restaurant could have been cleaner. Try the Windy City Smashburger with french fries and a chocolate malt. Available for a limited time. Smashed-to-order Certified Angus Beef, layers of melted cheddar cheese, haystack onions, lettuce, tomato and Guldens mustard on a pretzel roll.

  • RJ P.

Decent enough burger in the moment but I tasted it for three days after. And that's not a compliment. The line moves very slow, the layout is uninviting and not conducive to conversation (probably because patrons are too busy jamming these burgers down their gullets to bother talking), and the staff doesn't seem very happy to be there (albeit understandably). Smashburger is the Chipotle of hamburgers, which is probably exactly what the company sets out to be. I suppose it's appealing to the masses but I can't see going back anytime soon, at least not without a blood alcohol content of .15-plus.

  • Meredith B.

Delicious food- I loved the burger on the egg bun (yum!) and the smash fries were amazing (rosemary, olive oil, garlic, and other seasonings). Definitely on the greasy side, but I expect that at burger joints. This place definitely hit the spot! I'm excited for them to expand to other cities in the midwest, too. Super friendly service- I was impressed how often the staff asked if I needed anything else and said thank you to me on my way out. Pretty impressive for a quick service restaurant! I would definitely recommend this place!

  • Robert M.

I had some bad experience when I came here. My smashburger had a hair in it (in the cheese). When I told the server about it he didn't seem to believe me until I pointed it out to him. He then got a little bit of an attitude when I asked him to bring me a new one. When He returned with my burger, it occurred to me that my meal was missing the blue cheese I had ordered. I let the same server know and he went to get it for me. Five minutes later, I went to remind him. He had apparently forgotten it again. It's also an uncomfortably small location so I would recommend either ordering it to go or going there during the spring and summer when outdoor seating is available.

We had our first Smashburgers yesterday and I have to say I am a fan! We both got the Twin Cities Smasher and split a small side of smash fries. I was VERY happy I got the smaller of the burgers - they are quite large! The smash fries were kind of bland in my world - we added salt and ketchup and woofed them down. The restaurant was very clean. I could have handled the music being a little lower - we were the only people in their and it was a little hard to hear each other talk over the music - but otherwise it was very comfortable. Overall - great experience and very tasty burger.

  • Tim R.

OK burgers. Rosemary fries are pretty special. Service is good but a small tangent on that topic; Smashburger employees: settle the heck down. You are serving fast food not curing lupus. Try to tone to excitement a little.

  • Leah S.

We happened upon smashburger on their second day of operation and I have to say for only being open 2 days they seemed to run like a well oiled machine. Service was quick, staff was friendly and for fast food the burger was solid. 2 kinds of fries available (french fries and smashfries) and both passed the test. I also dug the atmosphere which felt a little more upscale than the usual suspects. Overall, I recommend and prefer it over 5 Guys on all fronts.

    (3)
  • Lilly M.

Smashburger nicely fills a niche of being something in between a sit down restaurant and a Mickey D's with prices hovering slightly in the middle too. Order at the counter than grab a booth and they'll quickly bring you your order. Service was A+ and the flavors were great too, but wow was it GREASY. I honestly felt like I could wring out my burger like a grease soaked sponge. Needless to say, I felt pretty disgusting afterwards. The 1/3 lb. patty (smallest option) was plenty big and the smashfries (fries w/ rosemary & sea salt) were tasty, but not nearly as good as Five Guys. Overall, it's definitely worth popping in when the burger craving strikes, but make sure you have extra napkins and the motivation to run an extra 5 miles at the gym.

Well, pretty good, but definitely some better ones like House of Coates or Burger Time. That said, I will go there if it's not high noon.

SmashBurger lives in the niche between fast food and the Applebee's, and I've got to say, I am becoming a fan. I've been to this Smashburger twice now, and the food has been nothing short of outstanding both times. The folks at the counter were friendly and cheery, and the place is immaculate. The food was brought out by the manager (I think), who was also very courteous and asked if we needed anything else. Lots of genuine happiness among employees in this joint. This time, I had the Twin Cities Burger, which has lettuce, tomatoes, sautéed onions and two kinds of cheese. Sure, it was a little greasy and very sloppy, but that sure beats a dry burger. The shoestring-thin Smash Fries I ordered were dusted with rosemary and sea salt and were completely fantastic. The total for the meal was around $11.00 with a drink, so it's more than other lunch options around where I work. Despite reading the negative reviews, I will continue to go there and splurge for something on the juicy side.

I've been there once. Would I go again? Yes, on those nights when inspiration is lacking, anything (and nothing in particular) sounds good, and I'm feeling thin. In other words, I don't love it. Certainly better than fast food, but I can think of half a dozen places with better burgers and fries. (Cafe Maude for one.) And if it's speed, calories and low-price I'm looking for, there are better options there, too: Punch Pizza, Black Sheep Pizza, or even Chipotle, to name a few.

I would not normally give a burger joint 5 stars. But, as far as burgers go, I have to say that both my wife and myself agree; Best burger in town! We keep hearing people rave about Burger Jones. They were ok, but they did not blow us away. It seems like they do niot season their meat, and how do you build a house without a solid foundation? Smachburger has great quality beef that they season and great toppings. My wife was only disappointed with one thing; She forgot to ask for a fried egg on her burger.....I did not make that mistake. :) The fries are very similiar to McDonalds (which are our favorite FF fries) with olive oil and rosemary. They also have sweet potatoe fries and a bunch of other sides. But there, it's all about the burgers. And ours were outstanding. We are going back tonight.
