    REVIEW OF MASON JAR...the restaurant side of this is lackluster and the service is even worse. My friend and I split the ruben and fries, my friend also had the chicken vegetable soup. First off, the service was bad. My friend ordered hot tea, she got a cup of tea with this weird huge tea bag in it. No spoon, no sugar, no extra plate for the tea bag...I had to go ask for everything. The sandwich was ok, nothing special and the fries were also just ok not to mention that they split the fries on our plate and I think we both got maybe 10 fries. My friend said the soup was tasteless and didn't even seem to have salt in it. Lastly, it took FOREVER to get our bill. It was not busy and there seemed to be plenty of servers so not sure why it was so slow.

    Okay, I don't get it. You have a Michele Obama cupcake and not the 'other' party cupcake? Why would any retail establishment want to discourage any patron? I think I've figured out why you had to lease out half your restaurant to The Bell Jar. Hope the next owners are more inclusive of all patrons.

    Cupcake has by far the best food in eagan! I have eaten lunch a couple times now at the mason jar, and have purchased cupcakes and bread at the counter. The service has been outstanding on both sides. All the employees are very friendly and knowledgable about the food. The owner, Kevin, came to greet us at the table. He was very friendly and welcoming to us. Every cupcake I've ever had has been so good. The focaccia bread is out of this world, as is their cheese bread. Their coffee and chai are both great too. I highly recommend the breakfast sandwich with bacon or sausage. I will definitely be returning.

    Stopped into Cupcake this morning, around 10 AM, to pick up some bakery items. Terrible service and will not go back and would not recommend going. I waited at the bakery counter for over 7 minutes (yes, I checked my watch the entire time I was there). While waiting, a baker person was decorating cupcakes less than 6 feet from me and did not acknowledge or offer to wait on me. Two servers walked past me multiple times, did not ask me if I wanted something and in fact, one of them cleared off tables and the counter of dirty dishes near me. How can you miss a customer! Apparently they know how to do that at Cupcake! Regardless of how good your food product is, if you can not handle or deliver basic customer service, you do not deserve mine or other peoples business. My advice for Cupcake and the Mason Jar? Invest in someone who know how to run a restaurant and deliver basic wait service!

    Took my kiddo here for cupcakes. He got the dirt one (chocolate with a gummy worm sticking out) since he's a 9 year old boy. Ha! I got the peanut butter cup. It was fine, but not over the top delicious like I would expect from a place that specializes in cupcakes. I've gotten better, more extravagant ones from Lund's. I didn't even finish it. Sad. Service was great though. Even my son commented that the lady was very nice.

    Best cupcake I've ever had!! Adorable shop and very friendly and helpful staff! We had the dulce de leche, lemon, and triple chocolate. What a fun place! Cool that they were featured on cupcake wars and the owner was even there when we went! Will be back!

    Cupcake just lost another star. I walked in, and looked at everything. Decided what I wanted and waited for EVER for someone to even greet me. A man came to pick up an order, a person appeared helped him and then asked someone else what they wanted. I spoke up saying I'd actually been here before everyone else. She looked at me and then ignored me. Fuck that. Cupcake obviously doesn't want my money. PS. I'm not sure how this pic is attached to my review. I didn't get anything today.

    The cupcakes are yummy, the service is friendly and the coffee is weak. Cute decor but very loud refrigerated display cases and wobbly tables.

    I had long awaited the opening of the Eagan Cupcake. I'm a Minneapolitan through and through, but I work alllll the way out in this 'burb. I was so looking forward to a staple from my Prospect Park days to magically appear in Eagan. The entry is bright and welcoming, with colorful cupcakes and macarons lining the cases. The transition from Cupcake to The Mason Jar (the cafe) isn't as smooth as it could be, but we were seated right away and started perusing the menu. And then we kept perusing, waiting, looking around for someone to notice that we were there. After about 15 minutes of no water and no greeting, we finally stopped one of the servers who told us that we weren't in her section but she'd be happy to take care of us anyway. THANK YOU! Yes, this was a good start. For food, I opted for the cobb salad with spinach, and it was enormous and delicious. My coworker chose the soup and salad combo. Both of us really enjoyed the meals. The menu is pretty all-encompassing and ranges from breakfast all day to soups and salads to big sandwiches made on Cupcake's fresh bread. Admission: I've recently come to terms with a very serious macaron addition. Once I perfected my own recipe, I cannot pass up the opportunity to try actual pastry chefs' concoctions. The macarons at Cupcake were so pink + turquoise that there was no way I could walk out without some. My hubby is also a huge fan, so I figured I'd have a little after-work surprise for him. Womp womp. We got the lemon, elderberry, and raspberry cookies, and each of them was as dry as cardboard. Here's where I hate to say that I totally agree with the other reviewers. While I haven't had the cupcakes yet, I used to get them all the time back in the day when Cupcake meant the one adorable little nook on University. They were amazing: soft, fresh, unique, beautiful. They still LOOK like they would be that way, but one bite into the macarons and I can easily believe that the quality of the cupcakes has gone the way of the macarons: dry, bland, and not worth the price tag. I would love to give Cupcake/The Mason Jar another try. The cafe's food was good, but I just hope the brand isn't expanding so fast that it can no longer manage the quality of its bakery and service. People go to Cupcake for, above all, cupcakes! If the baked goods fall flat, you can't expect people to keep trying until it works. I'm rooting for you, Cupcake! Now, please go throw away all of your dried up treats, permanently take them off the shelves, and give your loyal customers the delectable creations they're used to. I'm sure the positive reviews will follow.

    Cupcake is ok at best, for what you would expect would be amazing.. Their cupcakes. They are high priced, but as it is more of a special occasion thing that is fine if they are high quality. These simply aren't. Head to sweet retreat in Edina for a significantly better option. Heck lunds and byerlys even makes betting IMO. Their saving grace are their macaroons. Those, while smaller than Patrick's, are fantastic. Overall we will likely not be back as we have given it 4 tries now wanting to like it. They are lucky in this location as true competition is a drive.

    Last Friday I had decided to take the day off. My good friend, Joann, was working until 6, but after work we would meet up. She had suggested the night before we try The Mason Jar in Eagan. I had never heard of this place so I googled it. It is also known as "Cupcake". They also have a Cupcake at the Mall of America. I have had their cupcakes before at the MOA. My bf and I tried the "Paris Hilton" and the "Claire Huxtable" cupcakes. Not impressed. The MOA location doesn't have The Mason Jar connected to it- which is a good thing. The Mason Jar/Cupcake establishment is a very cute restaurant. Located off Cliff Rd right by Bonfire. The door handles were whisks, that was a nice touch. The restaurant itself isn't that big. The bakery is on the right side next to the bar. The restaurant portion is on the left. I had arrived before Joann. I asked the old lady at the hostess stand for a table for two. She told me that they didn't have anything open, but I could sit in this other area right in front of the bar. I was starving so I didn't care. She said the bartender would be our server. Joann finally arrives! The bartender approaches us. He looks exactly like Gerard Butler, the Scottish Celeb, only the bartender looks more like a meathead. He brought us menus and waters. I ordered a rootbeer also. After telling Joann this place got terrible reviews, we still decided to give it a try. I ordered the 10,000 Lakes Pot Pie. Joann ordered some gross sandwich with jam and proscuitto. My pie was burnt (see attached photo). It was dry and bland. It needed a lot of salt. I can't believe they didn't season it. It was just not good. Don't waste your $12. Joann said her sandwich was okay but I know she didn't enjoy it. Her french fries were good but not great. I decided to get a different cupcake so I could forget about the pie. I can't remember what the cupcake is called but it was absolutely wonderful. It was like a creamy chocolate mousse. TOO DIE FOR. Joann liked it too and wished she would've gotten one. One thing I forgot to mention is the employees that work here are dressed so casual. It is hard to tell who works here and who doesn't. While I did enjoy my cupcake, I would not go back to this place for food. We were still hungry, so we placed a take out order at The Golden Star Chinese place next door, LOL!

    Stop at Cup Cake for a quick bite for lunch. Not expecting much, but to my surprise the ruben sandwhich was delicious. It came with home made french fries, very crunchy and fresh. The ruben had home made sauerkraut, and a delicious sauce. Great Bloody's and local beers

    This place is delicious both the Cupcake side and the Mason Jar side! I have been here about 3-4 times in the last 6 months, the food has been wonderful every time. The service was fine, not brag worthy but sufficient and the food worth the trip!

    I don't usually review on Yelp, but saw the negative reviews this place has gotten, and felt I had to give my two cents! Just ate here today (my 6th or 7th time), and the food was AMAZING (as always - have never had a bad experience here, and take friends/clients/family frequently since they opened). As a side note, the restaurant part is called The Mason Jar, the dessert side is called Cupcake. Both are in the same space. This time, my friend and I tried two different stone fired pizzas (Margherita and 4-cheese), and both were the best we've ever had in an Eagan restaurant - as good as Punch's Pizza in Minneapolis. Our server was really sweet and attentive, and we met the owner. The cupcakes for dessert were crazy-good. I had a chocolate mousse cupcake, my friend had a chocolate/caramel/mousse one. 5 stars for sure. Everyone I take here has been impressed. Give this place a fair shake - it's the best thing to happen to Eagan since Pardon My French closed.

    We got a four-pack to bring home after dinner at the Mason Jar. Maybe it was too late in the evening when we visited (6:30pm?). All but one of them were extremely dry and the flavors didn't do it for us. It was a disappointment because they looked wonderful in the case! Looks like other reviewers had better experiences, but the price was not worth the quality during our visit.

    The white bean sweet potato soup is excellent. The baguette the 1/2 turkey sandwich came on was crunch and chew and great. The aole gave the right amount of kick. Jar Full of Jokes on Monday nights is a blast. I'm going in for cupcakes later.

    I had the Boston Cream Pie cupcake because it had a little sign that said it was from the show "Cupcake Wars". It was pretty moist and I liked the chocolate ganache on the top. I wish the cupcakes were bigger though. $4 for that one cupcake just doesn't seem like a good deal to me. Also, the coffee could have been a little warmer.

    First time at the Mason Jar--the restaurant side of Cupcake. Atmosphere--a bit noisy, which is sort of par for these types of places. Lots of echoes and very tall ceilings, so the place feels more like a cafeteria than an intimate restaurant. That may be what they're looking for, but it was loud enough that conversation was a little tough. Service wasn't bad. Nothing to complain about, other than my standard complaint that most servers interrupt conversations, while a good/professional server will wait and find a better time to interrupt. I had the "10,000 Lakes" pot pie. I like the idea of it not being a run-of-the-mill entrée. Chicken, carrots, mushrooms, some cheese, with a biscuit as the top of the pie. The pot pie was just adequate and seemed more something out of a can than a true chef-inspired and chef-made meal. It was heated a little unevenly, which seemed to indicate that it was a microwaved meal. Biscuit was not very fresh, more what you'd expect if you bought it at a grocery store. There was very little chicken in the pot pie, and everything was a bit dry, and generally very bland. The bottom line is that this particular dish was a nice idea, but poorly executed and not very flavorful.

    I feel that Cupcake is trying to be too many things and not doing any of them well. Bakery - At first glance there seems to be a lot to choose from, but then on closer look it is deceiving. My wife found a cupcake that looked interesting in the case only to be told that it was for display only and they were sold out. I took a pass on the cupcakes. Bar - It seemed very limited. the wine list was short, even though there was a glass walled keg room, the tap beer was very limited. While having a glass of wine at the bar, we noted that 2 mixed drinks had been set on the bar on a tray. Not sure if they were there for pick-up or had been returned. Either way, they sat there the entire time we were there. not very classy. Food - I did not try the menu, but based on other initial experiences, I probably would not The whole experience just did not have a positive feel. We were hoping for at least an equivalent replacement for Pardon My French, but feel that this place has fallen short.

    I've only tried the bakery side, and both experiences were great! I picked up cupcakes twice to bring as treats to trainings. Everyone loved the cupcakes! I'm not a sweets person myself, and even I enjoyed my cupcake. Good service, fair prices, and the best cupcakes I've ever had.

    We went in on a Friday night for a drink, appetizers and desert. We ordered summit oatmeal stout, which is a beer that produces a lot of foam when poured. The server let the beers sit over 15 minutes before serving them to us and brought them to the table full of foam. If you serve this beer you should know that the foam should be scraped off while pouring. When we asked for our check after eating the server said "good I was hoping you were going to ask for that". We were only there 45 minutes! ** please hire friendlier staff ** The coffee bar in the morning is very slow, maybe hire a former starbucks employee to speed this place up! The cupcakes are tasty !

    Overrated. I've given this place 2 good tries and they have fallen short each time. I LOVE chocolate (Cafe Latte turtle cake is my all time fave!) and the 3 different chocolate cupcakes I've had at Cupcake were dry, boring and unimpressive. Honestly, I was very disappointed (especially at nearly $4 each). The Mad Cow and Chocolate Cream Pie were blase and the cake party extremely dry. The Triple Chocolate was crusty, stale, dry and worse than anything I could have purchased at the grocery (fake buttercream and food coloring would have tasted better). My husband has liked the non-chocolate cupcakes he has tried there (4 in total)- but he is also not a dessert connoisseur like I am. A package of Skittles would suffice and he'd be content. This definitely isn't close to replacing Pardon My French and I don't plan on going back.

    I was expecting really awesome cupcakes from a place that specializes in cupcakes but mine was not good and was expensive. I got the Cupcake Wars winner - Alton Brown. It has poached pear filling. The cupcake was small and cost $4.95. It had a small dot of pear in the filling, the icing was not sweet at all, and the cake was dry, like it was made a week ago. I ate the filling and threw the rest away. It was a great disappointment and waste of money. I will stick to the yummy Lunds and Bylery's cupcakes, that are huge - I usually split one with my husband and about the same price. I will not go back.

    At the current moment I am not impressed with the staff. One of the staff (lady with glasses and bandanna) was extremely unwelcoming. I came with a friend and my 2 kids. After 1 of my kids chose their cupcake she asks annoyed and rudely... Is that all. I said no.. Then my other child chose theirs and again she says rudely.. "Is that all"... I look at her and say no.. We are getting one too... She was staring at the ceiling.. Leaning on the counter.. I chose mine and again she say "is that all""... And then walks away. He finally ordered his and I said and 4 waters.. She point behind me and says something under her breath.. I say what.. She then yelled it's behind you.... Overall the customer service is enough for me to question whether I would recommend this place again.

    I can't believe the lack of customer service that I received from this establishment. I called inquiring about the choice of macarons for an upcoming party and was treated horribly and eventually hung up on. I will say that I have previously purchased cupcakes and have eaten in the restaurant. I won't ever be back.

    Ate at the Mason Jar restuarant last night and it was delicious! Ordered the Chili Mac & Cheese to eat and the cheesiness was spectacular. The portion was definitely filling but not outrageously large. I had the Chocolate Peanut Butter cupcake for dessert which was perfect balance of Chocolate & Peanut Butter and just the right amount of sweetness to top off the meal. Nicole was a great server & I will definitely be back again.

    Let me start with the good: amazing quality of food and a good variety with good value. I ordered one of their pot pies which was great and some cream of broccoli soup which was the best I've ever had period. The problem lies with the service, it's terrible. There were 2 people hosting and cleaning off tables which was a job for one at most since they were mostly standing around doing nothing. There was one waitress working who was incredibly slow and obviously needed help. 10 minutes to place a drink order, almost another 10 to get our drinks then she ran off before we could place our orders being we had 20 minutes at that point to decide on what to get. Then a woman walking around who looked and acted like the owner asked us what looked good so I thought she was helping out. She wasn't. She then left and we had to wait for the waitress to come back another 5 minutes later. Who that woman was and why she asked if she wasn't taking our order may never be answered. So in short, amazing food which was overshadowed by terrible service. I want to go back but probably won't, it's a shame.

    I live close by so i visit this place frequently. be careful that sundays its not open, i always come here after church and forget that fact. the service is very sub par, its very confusing as there is no orderly line and barely anyone behind the counter. some of them are chefs and so they don't manage the register, the ones who do are dressed very casually that it gets confusing. what bothers me the most is the lack of orderly service, people who have been waiting a long time don't get served first. besides that its very creatively decorated and fun to look at all the different types of cupcakes and their names. the prices ARE overpriced but once one of the staff told me they handmake them and thats the reason for their inflation? i didn't get that because aren't all cupcakes handmade or is it just me? anyways its fun to bring kids, but for truly tasty cupcakes i'd rather go to byerly's or even cub lol!

    WOW ! (Again Wow!!) - delicious food and an awesome experience. Friendly staff, SUMMIT Oatmeal Stout .....mmmmm. I had stuffed chicken w/ feta and it was silly good! Go go go - GO DOG GO ! Go here and you will see ....now back to my beer.

    Since my last review, I've been here a few more times. I went there last night. Really, I wish this place all the best. I won't be back for dinner. For the price, there are dozens, if not hundreds, of restaurants in this market that offer tastier food and better service. Fifteen bucks for a small plate of blackened tilapia and seasoned rice was actually the highlight at our table (other than fries on kids plates). At least they cooked the fish. My girl got a pot pie - 10,000 Lakes - which was bland and, well, not a pot pie. It had a top crust and then some sort of creamy soup w/ bland and cheap dark meat chicken. But the kids - we paid seven bucks for uncooked chicken strips and fries. We sent some chicken strips back - they were raw (I.e. Pink in the center and cold to the touch). When the original strips returned on a plate handed to us by our server, she said, "I'm not sure if they're trying to haze me or something, but they've cooked the rest of your strips." Unreal. It's raw chicken - a health hazard - and the cooks are back there laughing it up. And of course kids pay for their milk at Cupcake, too, so their meals are actually about ten bucks each. We did order cupcakes at the bakery and they were fine, though we waited quite a bit to get someone at either our table or the bakery to notice. I've tried to give CC the benefit of the doubt. They try to make some things interesting. And the cupcakes are usually tasty. The problem is that I spent ninety dollars and I left less than satisfied. If I spent ninety at Bonfire or at Andiamo MN or at Vivo or at Stephanos or virtually any place in Bloomington or south Minneapolis, I would have left happy. At Cupcake, I am always left saying, "if only." If only the pizza didn't have flour all over the crust. If only they could cook chicken strips (or could make a pot pie). If only the kids meals came with a drink. If only I didn't drop ninety bucks on marginal food. I won't have to write that last sentence anymore - at least as it relates to CC.

    This review is for Cupcake in Eagan. My family and I have tried these cupcakes on two occasions. The first time, we were extremely disappointed. The cupcakes were dry, tasteless, and all but one was barely edible. We bought the red velvet, the Carol Brady, the salted nut roll, the black bottom, the German chocolate, and the caramel apple. The only one that any of us liked was the black bottom, which is more cheesecake-based. The frosting on the other five was hard and easily separated from the cake as though the cupcake had been refrigerated and/or frozen. After our first visit, we gave Cupcake one star. We decided to give Cupcake another try two weeks later. Upon arrival, my daughter asked if there were any red velvet cupcakes as she didn't see any in the display. The friendly and enthusiastic employee said, "Yes! We have some that are freshly made in the back!" We ordered a red velvet, a pumpkin cream, and 3 mini cupcakes. The red velvet did seem fresh, but actually tasted like a box mix cupcake. The frosting was much fresher this time around. The minis were somewhat dry, and the frosting had a hardened shell but was soft on the inside. The pumpkin cream was delectable. The cream cheese frosting was delicious and the cake was moist. After this visit, we have decided to give Cupcake two stars as this was a better experience, but there do seem to be inconsistencies with the cupcakes and frosting. It really seems to be hit or miss.

    Great food. Horrible service. Waited to visit at least three times before posting a review. Was hoping things would improve. The worst is when they screw up they really don't care or try to make it right. Also, FYI, their hours say they close at 10pm on Sat. but they really shut down everything at 9pm. We felt like a burden showing up at 9:20 for dessert and coffee (both of which they were pretty much out of). We had such high hopes for this place. If they cared just a bit more they might have a chance.

    Highly recommend!! The atmosphere, dinner, dessert, and drinks were all great! Additionally, we had great, cheerful service. Had the walnut pate flatbread and it was wonderful as was the spicy chai Arnold Palmer. Make sure you get their famous cupcakes while you're here - I tasted the peanut butter chocolate and mocha - awesome - can definitely understand why they won cupcake wars!

I ate the filling and threw the rest away. It was a great disappointment and waste of money. I will stick to the yummy Lunds and Bylery's cupcakes, that are huge - I usually split one with my husband and about the same price. I will not go back.

    At the current moment I am not impressed with the staff. One of the staff (lady with glasses and bandanna) was extremely unwelcoming. I came with a friend and my 2 kids. After 1 of my kids chose their cupcake she asks annoyed and rudely... Is that all. I said no.. Then my other child chose theirs and again she says rudely.. "Is that all"... I look at her and say no.. We are getting one too... She was staring at the ceiling.. Leaning on the counter.. I chose mine and again she say "is that all""... And then walks away. He finally ordered his and I said and 4 waters.. She point behind me and says something under her breath.. I say what.. She then yelled it's behind you.... Overall the customer service is enough for me to question whether I would recommend this place again.

    I can't believe the lack of customer service that I received from this establishment. I called inquiring about the choice of macarons for an upcoming party and was treated horribly and eventually hung up on. I will say that I have previously purchased cupcakes and have eaten in the restaurant. I won't ever be back.

    Ate at the Mason Jar restuarant last night and it was delicious! Ordered the Chili Mac & Cheese to eat and the cheesiness was spectacular. The portion was definitely filling but not outrageously large. I had the Chocolate Peanut Butter cupcake for dessert which was perfect balance of Chocolate & Peanut Butter and just the right amount of sweetness to top off the meal. Nicole was a great server & I will definitely be back again.

    Best cupcake I've ever had!! Adorable shop and very friendly and helpful staff! We had the dulce de leche, lemon, and triple chocolate. What a fun place! Cool that they were featured on cupcake wars and the owner was even there when we went! Will be back!

    Cupcake just lost another star. I walked in, and looked at everything. Decided what I wanted and waited for EVER for someone to even greet me. A man came to pick up an order, a person appeared helped him and then asked someone else what they wanted. I spoke up saying I'd actually been here before everyone else. She looked at me and then ignored me. Fuck that. Cupcake obviously doesn't want my money. PS. I'm not sure how this pic is attached to my review. I didn't get anything today.

    Took my kiddo here for cupcakes. He got the dirt one (chocolate with a gummy worm sticking out) since he's a 9 year old boy. Ha! I got the peanut butter cup. It was fine, but not over the top delicious like I would expect from a place that specializes in cupcakes. I've gotten better, more extravagant ones from Lund's. I didn't even finish it. Sad. Service was great though. Even my son commented that the lady was very nice.

    I had long awaited the opening of the Eagan Cupcake. I'm a Minneapolitan through and through, but I work alllll the way out in this 'burb. I was so looking forward to a staple from my Prospect Park days to magically appear in Eagan. The entry is bright and welcoming, with colorful cupcakes and macarons lining the cases. The transition from Cupcake to The Mason Jar (the cafe) isn't as smooth as it could be, but we were seated right away and started perusing the menu. And then we kept perusing, waiting, looking around for someone to notice that we were there. After about 15 minutes of no water and no greeting, we finally stopped one of the servers who told us that we weren't in her section but she'd be happy to take care of us anyway. THANK YOU! Yes, this was a good start. For food, I opted for the cobb salad with spinach, and it was enormous and delicious. My coworker chose the soup and salad combo. Both of us really enjoyed the meals. The menu is pretty all-encompassing and ranges from breakfast all day to soups and salads to big sandwiches made on Cupcake's fresh bread. Admission: I've recently come to terms with a very serious macaron addition. Once I perfected my own recipe, I cannot pass up the opportunity to try actual pastry chefs' concoctions. The macarons at Cupcake were so pink + turquoise that there was no way I could walk out without some. My hubby is also a huge fan, so I figured I'd have a little after-work surprise for him. Womp womp. We got the lemon, elderberry, and raspberry cookies, and each of them was as dry as cardboard. Here's where I hate to say that I totally agree with the other reviewers. While I haven't had the cupcakes yet, I used to get them all the time back in the day when Cupcake meant the one adorable little nook on University. They were amazing: soft, fresh, unique, beautiful. They still LOOK like they would be that way, but one bite into the macarons and I can easily believe that the quality of the cupcakes has gone the way of the macarons: dry, bland, and not worth the price tag. I would love to give Cupcake/The Mason Jar another try. The cafe's food was good, but I just hope the brand isn't expanding so fast that it can no longer manage the quality of its bakery and service. People go to Cupcake for, above all, cupcakes! If the baked goods fall flat, you can't expect people to keep trying until it works. I'm rooting for you, Cupcake! Now, please go throw away all of your dried up treats, permanently take them off the shelves, and give your loyal customers the delectable creations they're used to. I'm sure the positive reviews will follow.

    Cupcake is ok at best, for what you would expect would be amazing.. Their cupcakes. They are high priced, but as it is more of a special occasion thing that is fine if they are high quality. These simply aren't. Head to sweet retreat in Edina for a significantly better option. Heck lunds and byerlys even makes betting IMO. Their saving grace are their macaroons. Those, while smaller than Patrick's, are fantastic. Overall we will likely not be back as we have given it 4 tries now wanting to like it. They are lucky in this location as true competition is a drive.

    The white bean sweet potato soup is excellent. The baguette the 1/2 turkey sandwich came on was crunch and chew and great. The aole gave the right amount of kick. Jar Full of Jokes on Monday nights is a blast. I'm going in for cupcakes later.

    I had the Boston Cream Pie cupcake because it had a little sign that said it was from the show "Cupcake Wars". It was pretty moist and I liked the chocolate ganache on the top. I wish the cupcakes were bigger though. $4 for that one cupcake just doesn't seem like a good deal to me. Also, the coffee could have been a little warmer.

    First time at the Mason Jar--the restaurant side of Cupcake. Atmosphere--a bit noisy, which is sort of par for these types of places. Lots of echoes and very tall ceilings, so the place feels more like a cafeteria than an intimate restaurant. That may be what they're looking for, but it was loud enough that conversation was a little tough. Service wasn't bad. Nothing to complain about, other than my standard complaint that most servers interrupt conversations, while a good/professional server will wait and find a better time to interrupt. I had the "10,000 Lakes" pot pie. I like the idea of it not being a run-of-the-mill entrée. Chicken, carrots, mushrooms, some cheese, with a biscuit as the top of the pie. The pot pie was just adequate and seemed more something out of a can than a true chef-inspired and chef-made meal. It was heated a little unevenly, which seemed to indicate that it was a microwaved meal. Biscuit was not very fresh, more what you'd expect if you bought it at a grocery store. There was very little chicken in the pot pie, and everything was a bit dry, and generally very bland. The bottom line is that this particular dish was a nice idea, but poorly executed and not very flavorful.

    Cupcake has by far the best food in eagan! I have eaten lunch a couple times now at the mason jar, and have purchased cupcakes and bread at the counter. The service has been outstanding on both sides. All the employees are very friendly and knowledgable about the food. The owner, Kevin, came to greet us at the table. He was very friendly and welcoming to us. Every cupcake I've ever had has been so good. The focaccia bread is out of this world, as is their cheese bread. Their coffee and chai are both great too. I highly recommend the breakfast sandwich with bacon or sausage. I will definitely be returning.

    Stopped into Cupcake this morning, around 10 AM, to pick up some bakery items. Terrible service and will not go back and would not recommend going. I waited at the bakery counter for over 7 minutes (yes, I checked my watch the entire time I was there). While waiting, a baker person was decorating cupcakes less than 6 feet from me and did not acknowledge or offer to wait on me. Two servers walked past me multiple times, did not ask me if I wanted something and in fact, one of them cleared off tables and the counter of dirty dishes near me. How can you miss a customer! Apparently they know how to do that at Cupcake! Regardless of how good your food product is, if you can not handle or deliver basic customer service, you do not deserve mine or other peoples business. My advice for Cupcake and the Mason Jar? Invest in someone who know how to run a restaurant and deliver basic wait service!

    This review is for Cupcake in Eagan. My family and I have tried these cupcakes on two occasions. The first time, we were extremely disappointed. The cupcakes were dry, tasteless, and all but one was barely edible. We bought the red velvet, the Carol Brady, the salted nut roll, the black bottom, the German chocolate, and the caramel apple. The only one that any of us liked was the black bottom, which is more cheesecake-based. The frosting on the other five was hard and easily separated from the cake as though the cupcake had been refrigerated and/or frozen. After our first visit, we gave Cupcake one star. We decided to give Cupcake another try two weeks later. Upon arrival, my daughter asked if there were any red velvet cupcakes as she didn't see any in the display. The friendly and enthusiastic employee said, "Yes! We have some that are freshly made in the back!" We ordered a red velvet, a pumpkin cream, and 3 mini cupcakes. The red velvet did seem fresh, but actually tasted like a box mix cupcake. The frosting was much fresher this time around. The minis were somewhat dry, and the frosting had a hardened shell but was soft on the inside. The pumpkin cream was delectable. The cream cheese frosting was delicious and the cake was moist. After this visit, we have decided to give Cupcake two stars as this was a better experience, but there do seem to be inconsistencies with the cupcakes and frosting. It really seems to be hit or miss.

    Stop at Cup Cake for a quick bite for lunch. Not expecting much, but to my surprise the ruben sandwhich was delicious. It came with home made french fries, very crunchy and fresh. The ruben had home made sauerkraut, and a delicious sauce. Great Bloody's and local beers

    Last Friday I had decided to take the day off. My good friend, Joann, was working until 6, but after work we would meet up. She had suggested the night before we try The Mason Jar in Eagan. I had never heard of this place so I googled it. It is also known as "Cupcake". They also have a Cupcake at the Mall of America. I have had their cupcakes before at the MOA. My bf and I tried the "Paris Hilton" and the "Claire Huxtable" cupcakes. Not impressed. The MOA location doesn't have The Mason Jar connected to it- which is a good thing. The Mason Jar/Cupcake establishment is a very cute restaurant. Located off Cliff Rd right by Bonfire. The door handles were whisks, that was a nice touch. The restaurant itself isn't that big. The bakery is on the right side next to the bar. The restaurant portion is on the left. I had arrived before Joann. I asked the old lady at the hostess stand for a table for two. She told me that they didn't have anything open, but I could sit in this other area right in front of the bar. I was starving so I didn't care. She said the bartender would be our server. Joann finally arrives! The bartender approaches us. He looks exactly like Gerard Butler, the Scottish Celeb, only the bartender looks more like a meathead. He brought us menus and waters. I ordered a rootbeer also. After telling Joann this place got terrible reviews, we still decided to give it a try. I ordered the 10,000 Lakes Pot Pie. Joann ordered some gross sandwich with jam and proscuitto. My pie was burnt (see attached photo). It was dry and bland. It needed a lot of salt. I can't believe they didn't season it. It was just not good. Don't waste your $12. Joann said her sandwich was okay but I know she didn't enjoy it. Her french fries were good but not great. I decided to get a different cupcake so I could forget about the pie. I can't remember what the cupcake is called but it was absolutely wonderful. It was like a creamy chocolate mousse. TOO DIE FOR. Joann liked it too and wished she would've gotten one. One thing I forgot to mention is the employees that work here are dressed so casual. It is hard to tell who works here and who doesn't. While I did enjoy my cupcake, I would not go back to this place for food. We were still hungry, so we placed a take out order at The Golden Star Chinese place next door, LOL!

    This place is delicious both the Cupcake side and the Mason Jar side! I have been here about 3-4 times in the last 6 months, the food has been wonderful every time. The service was fine, not brag worthy but sufficient and the food worth the trip!

    I don't usually review on Yelp, but saw the negative reviews this place has gotten, and felt I had to give my two cents! Just ate here today (my 6th or 7th time), and the food was AMAZING (as always - have never had a bad experience here, and take friends/clients/family frequently since they opened). As a side note, the restaurant part is called The Mason Jar, the dessert side is called Cupcake. Both are in the same space. This time, my friend and I tried two different stone fired pizzas (Margherita and 4-cheese), and both were the best we've ever had in an Eagan restaurant - as good as Punch's Pizza in Minneapolis. Our server was really sweet and attentive, and we met the owner. The cupcakes for dessert were crazy-good. I had a chocolate mousse cupcake, my friend had a chocolate/caramel/mousse one. 5 stars for sure. Everyone I take here has been impressed. Give this place a fair shake - it's the best thing to happen to Eagan since Pardon My French closed.

    We got a four-pack to bring home after dinner at the Mason Jar. Maybe it was too late in the evening when we visited (6:30pm?). All but one of them were extremely dry and the flavors didn't do it for us. It was a disappointment because they looked wonderful in the case! Looks like other reviewers had better experiences, but the price was not worth the quality during our visit.

    Let me start with the good: amazing quality of food and a good variety with good value. I ordered one of their pot pies which was great and some cream of broccoli soup which was the best I've ever had period. The problem lies with the service, it's terrible. There were 2 people hosting and cleaning off tables which was a job for one at most since they were mostly standing around doing nothing. There was one waitress working who was incredibly slow and obviously needed help. 10 minutes to place a drink order, almost another 10 to get our drinks then she ran off before we could place our orders being we had 20 minutes at that point to decide on what to get. Then a woman walking around who looked and acted like the owner asked us what looked good so I thought she was helping out. She wasn't. She then left and we had to wait for the waitress to come back another 5 minutes later. Who that woman was and why she asked if she wasn't taking our order may never be answered. So in short, amazing food which was overshadowed by terrible service. I want to go back but probably won't, it's a shame.

    I live close by so i visit this place frequently. be careful that sundays its not open, i always come here after church and forget that fact. the service is very sub par, its very confusing as there is no orderly line and barely anyone behind the counter. some of them are chefs and so they don't manage the register, the ones who do are dressed very casually that it gets confusing. what bothers me the most is the lack of orderly service, people who have been waiting a long time don't get served first. besides that its very creatively decorated and fun to look at all the different types of cupcakes and their names. the prices ARE overpriced but once one of the staff told me they handmake them and thats the reason for their inflation? i didn't get that because aren't all cupcakes handmade or is it just me? anyways its fun to bring kids, but for truly tasty cupcakes i'd rather go to byerly's or even cub lol!

    WOW ! (Again Wow!!) - delicious food and an awesome experience. Friendly staff, SUMMIT Oatmeal Stout .....mmmmm. I had stuffed chicken w/ feta and it was silly good! Go go go - GO DOG GO ! Go here and you will see ....now back to my beer.

    Since my last review, I've been here a few more times. I went there last night. Really, I wish this place all the best. I won't be back for dinner. For the price, there are dozens, if not hundreds, of restaurants in this market that offer tastier food and better service. Fifteen bucks for a small plate of blackened tilapia and seasoned rice was actually the highlight at our table (other than fries on kids plates). At least they cooked the fish. My girl got a pot pie - 10,000 Lakes - which was bland and, well, not a pot pie. It had a top crust and then some sort of creamy soup w/ bland and cheap dark meat chicken. But the kids - we paid seven bucks for uncooked chicken strips and fries. We sent some chicken strips back - they were raw (I.e. Pink in the center and cold to the touch). When the original strips returned on a plate handed to us by our server, she said, "I'm not sure if they're trying to haze me or something, but they've cooked the rest of your strips." Unreal. It's raw chicken - a health hazard - and the cooks are back there laughing it up. And of course kids pay for their milk at Cupcake, too, so their meals are actually about ten bucks each. We did order cupcakes at the bakery and they were fine, though we waited quite a bit to get someone at either our table or the bakery to notice. I've tried to give CC the benefit of the doubt. They try to make some things interesting. And the cupcakes are usually tasty. The problem is that I spent ninety dollars and I left less than satisfied. If I spent ninety at Bonfire or at Andiamo MN or at Vivo or at Stephanos or virtually any place in Bloomington or south Minneapolis, I would have left happy. At Cupcake, I am always left saying, "if only." If only the pizza didn't have flour all over the crust. If only they could cook chicken strips (or could make a pot pie). If only the kids meals came with a drink. If only I didn't drop ninety bucks on marginal food. I won't have to write that last sentence anymore - at least as it relates to CC.

    REVIEW OF MASON JAR...the restaurant side of this is lackluster and the service is even worse. My friend and I split the ruben and fries, my friend also had the chicken vegetable soup. First off, the service was bad. My friend ordered hot tea, she got a cup of tea with this weird huge tea bag in it. No spoon, no sugar, no extra plate for the tea bag...I had to go ask for everything. The sandwich was ok, nothing special and the fries were also just ok not to mention that they split the fries on our plate and I think we both got maybe 10 fries. My friend said the soup was tasteless and didn't even seem to have salt in it. Lastly, it took FOREVER to get our bill. It was not busy and there seemed to be plenty of servers so not sure why it was so slow.

    Okay, I don't get it. You have a Michele Obama cupcake and not the 'other' party cupcake? Why would any retail establishment want to discourage any patron? I think I've figured out why you had to lease out half your restaurant to The Bell Jar. Hope the next owners are more inclusive of all patrons.

    Great food. Horrible service. Waited to visit at least three times before posting a review. Was hoping things would improve. The worst is when they screw up they really don't care or try to make it right. Also, FYI, their hours say they close at 10pm on Sat. but they really shut down everything at 9pm. We felt like a burden showing up at 9:20 for dessert and coffee (both of which they were pretty much out of). We had such high hopes for this place. If they cared just a bit more they might have a chance.

    Highly recommend!! The atmosphere, dinner, dessert, and drinks were all great! Additionally, we had great, cheerful service. Had the walnut pate flatbread and it was wonderful as was the spicy chai Arnold Palmer. Make sure you get their famous cupcakes while you're here - I tasted the peanut butter chocolate and mocha - awesome - can definitely understand why they won cupcake wars!
