Needed a pho fix while away on vacation. Yelp took me to this place. Faculty is clean enough. Staff friendly and attentive. I was the only customer there for a long time. I got their special pho. Broth: light, flavourful yet not greasy. Noodles: taste like it had just came out of the fridge, little "stiff". Toppings: I wish they had more of the regular variety as they only gave rare beef, meat balls, brisket. Doesn't compare to what I'm used to but given the circumstances I went back to the hotel satisfied.

We come here every couple months when we're in the area and craving some noodles or rice (but try to make it a point to eat here more often). The owner, Andy, who has been there serving on his own every time we've visited (except one time during the day when his daughter was serving), always recognizes us and remembers our order, even if we have not visited for several months. He also knew that the people sitting at the table next to us enjoy their pho extra hot. Even though he serves alone he does a great job of keeping up with all the guests, checking on their food and refilling their beverages, and having fun conversations. The seating area is quite large and rarely more than a third full (but they have a busy takeout business) so long waits are not a concern. As for the food, we've had about a dozen different options and they've all been fantastic, some of the best I've had in the Cities. My wife loves their pho; we've had a lot of it around the area and it is her favorite (I also enjoy it but there are a couple other places that I enjoy the pho as well). The broth has great depth and clean finish. Their other dishes are great; even though it is a Vietnamese restaurant they serve some of my favorite Chinese dishes. The sesame chicken is the best I've had, very crispy and not too sweet. We also love the Vietnamese egg rolls, beef and fried potatoes, butter chicken, and others. When my wife or I are having a bad day I know that a trip to Classic Saigon will brighten our day.

Went there for lunch and while the food took quite awhile to come out - and there was only one server - which was okay - it was really, really good. I got steamed shrimp with onions and ginger and it was light and the flavors were heavenly. Everyone else at the table got the walleye with some variation. The singapore sauce was definitely the best - and steamed - not fried, although the fried was done very nicely as well. I got the hot and sour soup - it was nice, well done. And we also had spring rolls and egg rolls. It all seemed to be hand made - I thought they were some of the best eggrolls I've had - and I don't typically favor eggrolls. The spring rolls were well done - not the best ever, but still pretty tasty. Besides that it took awhile for the food to come out, I would have to say it was really good and definitely worth the wait.

I went here about a year ago. Our waitress was very nice and timely. She gave us recommendations and knew the menu well. I decided to get the combination pho & it was very flavorful compared to pho from other restaurants.

I love this place! The pork chop, rice, veggies, and meat pie is amazing. Great owners and staff! Everyone is super friendly and helpful. I can't get enough of this place. Hubby really enjoyed the pho! Check this place out!

I am a fan of there egg roles they were excellent. I would go back and order those, I ordered the Wonton soup and the wrap on the Wonton was thin and I like that instead of it being to thick and doughy but the flavor IDK maybe its just the way Vietnamese is with there Wonton soup but I did not like the flavor.

food is very mediocre. unfortunately there aren't many good Vietnamese places south of river. pho is not good here. fish in clay pot was decent.

Sam and I were first world starving yesterday, so we went on a short adventure for some good Chinese food. We were ultimately looking for a buffet so we could dine in class and stuff our faces without anyone blinking an eye. We eventually ended up here after our other two places didn't pan out. It's not a buffet but we were too hungry to care. It's also not Chinese; It's Vietnamese. When we walked in we immediately noticed the dining room. Not only because it's the first thing you see, but because its large, clean and not full of cliché oriental decorations. Our waitress floated over on a heavenly cloud and seated us right away. She was super polite, which was a nice change from the place we were at just prior. Notice to restaurant hosts: If it's the first three second we're in the restaurant and you're already a jerk, we're leaving immediately. I don't care how good your food is. We hate jerks. Anyway... Our waitress brought us waters and returned shortly to take our order. We started with the Egg Rolls and we both ordered a bowl of Wonton soup. When she brought the food out it looked absolutely amazing. The eggrolls were perfectly fried to a dark golden brown and had a noticeable crisp on the outside. When I took my first bite, I honestly wasn't super impressed. I felt the outside shell was a little too greasy. That is, until I dipped it in the tiny saucer filled with a clear mystery sauce. We didn't ask what it was, we just accepted the gift from the Gods and proceeded to shamelessly cry tears of satisfactory joy while we embraced the sweet garlicky crunch of what once was an egg roll. The Wonton soup came out as well. We've had plenty of wonton soup and generally it has at least one thing wrong with it. Either the wonton is too thick like pie dough, the meat is flavorless, or the broth is just hot water with essence of chicken. We usually end up drowning our soup in fried wonton strips just for some texture and flavor. This is not the case with the soup here. The broth has a rich and savory. You picked up the flavor of the green onions floating in it as well as the herbs. It was sensational on your palate. The wonton skins were a perfect light and soft texture, and the meat inside was packed with all kinds of flavors. It was hands down, the best wonton soup we've ever eaten. For main courses we ordered pork lo mein and crispy chicken in garlic sauce. The lo mein noodles were cooked perfectly and had a roasted flavor to them. The pork in the dish was actually tender and moist slices; Not the nibs of jerky you get at other places. The chicken was tender and well seasoned. I enjoyed the flavor but it was too much meat. I need rice and noodles to break up the flavors. Sam loved it but she's a carnivore. Our whole experience here was great and we are excited to go back to try their pho. I do want to mention one thing for you less culturally aware folks(like us). A lot of the menu is in Vietnamese. We took the safe route and ordered things we were familiar with. Next time there will be much exploration into the flavors of Vietnam. Free your mind... Freeeeeeeeeee.... I hear rumors that this place isn't as good as some on University Avenue. Until I taste this for myself, this baby is getting 5 stars for cleanliness, great service and delicious food.

I have tried PHO all over the city but have not found any as traditionally delicious and flavorful as the PHO here. The owner is a very persoanable man and will always remember you if you come a few times. The spring rolls are fresh and they will make you a bubble tea like no other in Minnesota. Try it, you will not want to go anywhere else for PHO again.

Horrible place with horrible people working there. I took food home for dinner. Ordered two eggrolls, special fried rice, special Lo Mein, Orange Chicken and Kung Pao Beef. Total Price $51. At dinner, we open the bag and we were missing the two egg rolls. The 'special' fried rice had one shrimp, little meat and no veggies (see photo). The kung pao beef had 7 pieces of beef, mostly celery. The Lo Mein was pretty ok. The orange chicken greasy. We eat late, past 9 pm, and they were already closed, so I decided to photograph the food and tell them the next day. I called and they were so closed minded attacking me of why I waited till the next day to call and that they measure everything... They were so abrupt that I was not able to tell them that all I wanted was to tell them of my experience when they actually hung up the phone and refused to answer it again. I don't want my money back, I don' t want their food (why should I since I was not happy with it?) Maybe I expect too much????

Amazing!!! It is authentic Vietnamese with high quality ingredients and a selection rivaled by none. If you want a splurge, try the Street Noodles. Also, the Chicken Pho (#99 on the menu) is complex and delightful. And the leftovers make a great breakfast in the morning.

Though my first experience to this restaurant was very poor as our table was not attended to and we left after waiting for sometime, I went to their business again albeit begrudgingly. Much to my surprise the service was very swift considering we were the only people there. The hostess was friendly and helpful, brought the food out pretty fast and the food tasted really great. Hence Im editing my initial review to 3 stars. Perhaps this business demands a 3rd visit.

I only went there because I had cravings for pho and didn't want to drive back into town since I was staying in Eagan for the weekend. The egg rolls were fresh, hot and delicious but extremely oily. There was very little meat in my pho. The Curry Chicken was not curry but more like stir-fried chicken with ALOT of bamboo with a little bit of sauce. We were there on a Saturday around lunch time and we were the only customers. The place was clean. We asked for a straw and the owner, who was extremely friendly though, brought out a straw but was touching all over it. Therefore, they lack some customer service and sanity.

Pho was great! Freash and tasty! I am glad we found this place close to our house. Now, we don't have drive to Minneapolis or St. Paul to have a bowl of Pho.

#90 Pho was really good. Highly recommend it. I will be going back to try the spring rolls and egg rolls. The pho was plenty so I didn't get to try anything else. Quiet clean place.

Food is sub-par. Don't get the pho. Terrible customer service. Went there a few times with a friend who wanted pho (one of few places in Eagan), but won't be back after such bad food and staff experience.

Pretty good. Tried out for the first time with a coworker for lunch. We arrived and it wasn't too busy, but started to pick up right after we arrived. I ordered us some egg rolls to share while he got the hot and sour soup. The egg rolls were delicious - crispy, hot and tasty. I ordered the garlic pork and he got a noodle bowl. We both liked our food. I had a good portion of pork and it had good taste, but I'm not sure it was worth the $11 I paid. I think it's a little steep. It was only pork and rice, no veggies or sauce. The service lacked somewhat. We got our food and check way after people who came in after us. I noticed they have lunch specials on the wall but they weren't labeled or advertised by the server. The place was clean, but I will agree with Christopher H - it works here, but wouldn't work in other parts of the city.

Their pho tastes very fresh and I like that they have different options for it (chicken, beef, seafood). I LOVE their Jasmine tea. Their ambiance is fitting for a family dinner, date night, and they have a TV for a big meal with friends! The owner is also very nice and has great customer service. I eat here at least once a month!

I walked in, weary of the establishment because something seemed off about this place. I was seated quickly by the only person working the front. The room was dimly lit, it was lunch time. The decor was pleasant, albeit cliche. What I immediately noticed after the decor was that several tables had not been cleared off. Now when it's busy, it makes sense to me that this happens. It was not busy. I counted 9 tables that had not been cleared off, with only 4-5 tables that had customers (2 of which were ready to leave and pay their check). I read some reviews about the egg rolls so I figured I would give them a try in addition to the Saigon Pho. Big mistake. They were dripping with oil! Now I realize that egg rolls are deep fried, but I've never had egg rolls this bad before (in terms of excess oil). The dipping sauce couldn't mask the excess oil flavor either. Very disappointing. Then came the pho....and it was ho-hum. Definitely not the worse I've ever had, but I wouldn't quite put it at average either. Their greens were old, I can always tell when a restaurant is using ingredients more than a week old. I used to work at a restaurant on University, greens under 1 week tasted fresh, anything older than 1 week would be dry and stale. Their basil was dry and stale to say the least. My water cup was kept full throughout, so they get an extra star for that. All in all, a 2 star experience, but if you have a pho craving and don't want to drive into the cities, this is your ONLY option. Stick to the pho, avoid the rest.

I thought I would stop in for lunch here because I had read some good reviews. Maybe they specialize in Pho, or maybe they were having a bad day. Whatever the reason, I was not impressed at all. I had one of the lunch specials, curry chicken with white rice and an egg roll. $7.50 The rice had bits of hard, dry rice in it, the egg roll was greasy and lacked ingredients and the fish sauce tasted watered down. The chicken curry was mostly onions and bamboo shoots in a greasy, weak curry sauce. I could have better food at any Asian buffet place around for the same money. I will not be back.

Had lunch there today. I ordered wonton soup and springrolls. My colleague ordered the beef pho. The pho was far better than the wonton soup. I've ordered wonton at other Vietnamese places in town before and had far better. The broth was tasty but the dumplings were small and didn't have much filling. Elsewhere they're to big to eat in one bite. Our waiter was surprised at my order, I guess they don't get alot of orders for that soup. I had to order some spring rolls to fill me up- they were OK as well. Thin and not a lot of meat or shrimp. Just OK. The Pho was really good however which is why I give then 3 stars. The service was excellent. There waiter was very nice and very attentive. I'm interested in going back for the Singapore noodles. I'm looking froward to trying it.

I have been going to this place since before it relocated to the Town Center area. It used to be part of a strip near Cedarvale Lanes. The new spot looks really nice compared to what it used to be, though I wouldn't even say there was anything that bad about the previous spot. It just looks newer and bigger now which is always an improvement whatever way you look at it. This is where I usually go when I don't want to drive to Minneapolis or Saint Paul to get pho-(I reside in Apple Valley). The quality and taste of the food satisfies at just the right price and without a far drive to separate me from it, my return is always inevitable. I must say I also enjoy that they show pictures of their various dishes on the walls. They help to increase my level of appetite every time I look them over while waiting. =P It's never been very busy whenever I go so I just hope that business isn't suffering for them. The owners seem like really sweet people and service has never left me malcontented. I can't really speak to many of the other menu items aside from pho and cha gio since those are what i always get. Nor can i make any confident claims regarding the authenticity being that I'm not Vietnamese, though I've eaten a shit ton of pho from a lot of different places if that means anything. My boyfriend, however, loves to come here too and he is Vietnamese (pretty fresh off the boat too might i add) so I like to think that counts for something.

My wife and I went here to get pho, her coming from a Vietnamese family makes me a very picky eater when it comes to this stuff. The portion was very very small and had very little beef. It tasted okay, there just was not enough of it at all

Great pho. Very rich broth, great layers of flavor, and no msg! Better than most of the pho on University Ave or Eat Street. I do agree that they try to do too much, with such a huge menu.

Saigon is one of our regular lunch stops as it's very near our office. Overall, I have to say if Saigon were on Eat Street or University in St. Paul, I don't think they'd last long as there are definitely much better options out there. It's not that Saigon is bad in any way, it's really just that it's quite average and unremarkable. That being said, it is located in Eagan and is definitely a good option for Vietnamese if you're down this way and don't want to drive into the city. As far as the food, I've been pretty pleased with what I've had here. I usually stick with the grilled pork and egg roll bun (rice noodle bowl with veggies and fish sauce). It's always served me well and is a really nice light yet filling lunch option. The grilled pork is nice and sweet but not overpoweringly so. The egg rolls are hot and crispy and the veggies are very fresh. I will occasionally have their pho which is just ok. The broth is not as flavorful as I've had elsewhere. I used to get the beef and potatoes which is one of, if not my favorite Vietnamese dish, however I've stayed away from this as I've always felt the potatoes came out a bit too soggy. Service can be somewhat hit or miss. Service is always quite attentive, however it seems like when they get more than a few tables full, it can take quite a while to get your food. That being said, the guy who waits tables is super friendly and that to me is reason enough to go back.

Attentive service. Fresh veges and shrimp. Well-brewed hot tea (not colored warm water), at $3 a pot - it should be good. It tasted like a jasmine variety. Calm, if uninspired, Muzak with exclusively X-mas song music by African-American (!?!) singers mostly, at low sound levels. Goi cúon were large rolls, blissfully short of bean sprouts (a personal food dislike), but sadly not tasty. The chicken tasted boiled, not spiced and grilled. The man at a neighboring table reported that his egg rolls were tasty, crisp but not greasy. My husband's Seafood Hot Pot was delicious and thermally hot. I ordered my fave Vietnamese dish (bún w/ chicken & shrimp) and I was not impressed. Too cold and bland. Yes, I used the fish sauce. Apparently this is the authentic version - traditionally served cold - which only proves authenticity is not always a good thing. So if you want thermally hot food, pick a phó, a hot pot, or request it to be made the way you like it.

Phó get a "C" in my book. I eat Phò several times a week all over the Metro area. This soup tastes like it is from a can with stuff added to boost the flavor. Where are all the delightful bits of delicious goodness that hang out at the bottom of the bowl? Where is my plate of bean sprouts, fresh basil, lime and slices of jalapeño? The Spring rolls were fine but the sauce was served without the crushed peanuts that everyone else seems to serve. I am still looking for the best Phó house in the southern suburbs since Spoon closed. The atmosphere was fine and the prices were reasonable. The restaurant seems clean and the seating is ample and not cramped. I went mid afternoon and the server had 2 other tables so service was fine and he was friendly.

This restaurant is good. While I do agree with the other review in that they try to do too much, I feel if you stay away from Americanized type dish's(you'll know it when you see it, stuff you find in any chinese buffet), you will be rewarded with great food. Pho here is comparable to any you find on eat street or university ave. It is good and the main thing I eat when I come here. I've eaten Pho at every place in the TC area I can find. It is good here. I've also had their hotpot. Fantastic. A wee bit pricey compared to their other stuff but when compared to, say, a steak somewhere the price is in line. A good restaurant. Unless you are determined to drive 20 miles away so you can tell everyone you're a trendy foodie on eat street, there is no reason to not come here.

Don't believe the server when he exaggerates about how awesome the food is. Get in your car and drive to Minneapolis. The egg rolls, and besides looking unappetizing, are way over-salted and greasy. The spring rolls (in most restaurants I've been to, they're called summer rolls) were packed mostly with vermicelli noodles and tasted like nothing. Also, I could be wrong but their dipping sauces do not taste homemade. The pho was okay, but not good enough to hit the spot. I didn't like the texture of the meatballs, and I didn't like their broth. I could probably make better Vietnamese food at home.

I stopped in for a bowl of pho that never came. For a lunch break, I walked into Classic Saigon and a waitress seated me, three separate groups of Caucasian people (I'm Asian) came in within 5 mins of me ordering pho and ice coffee. The three separate group gets their orders in after me but all get their food before me. By now it's been over 15 minutes since I ordered so I asked the waitress about my order and with indignation she sharply tells me "its coming sir!" as she swiftly walks by. She doesn't even stop to talk to me. So I get up, pay for the ice coffee and headed towards the door as the same waitress calls out after me asking, "Sir, did you want to take it to go?" of which I replied. "What do you think!?" as I turned and walked out the door. Sadly, this is not the first time I have been treated this way. There have been other times when my wife and I have been at this restaurant and we have been prioritized behind other Caucasian customs. The food has not been consistent at other times that we were there but it was the closest please to my work that serves pho. (For those that are not familiar with Pho, it generally takes less then 5 minutes) I guess Caucasian customs must generally tip more than 20%, which is what I normally tip. I do not recommend this place, unless you are Caucasian.

With all of the Vietnamese restaurants I have tried in the Dakota County area, this is probably the best. So if you don't want to drive 20-25mins to St.Paul or Minneapolis for a bowl of pho, spring rolls, or anything Vietnamese I suggest going here. The food is ok, but it is a little more on the authentic side than many of the other Vietnamese restaurants in the area. I suggest skipping out on: -the chicken wings (I found them to be flavorless and too greasy) -koai tay xau thit bo aka deep fried potatoes w/beef stir fry (the potatoes are soggy and they should be crunchy! Go to Kim Son in Bloomington for this dish.) -bun bo hue aka beef, pig's knuckles, and vermicelli noodles in spicy broth (the broth isn't good here. try it at Tay Ho off University Ave. in St. Paul) Wasn't bad: -pho tai bo vien aka rice noodles beef shank and meatballs in broth (it wasn't too bad for it being restaurant made) -bun suon aka vermicelli noodles w/pork chops and fish sauce (but really if a Vietnamese restaurant messes this dish up they shouldn't be calling themselves Vietnamese) -cha gio aka pork eggrolls (these were my favorite) Price is affordable, service was great, and food was okay, but then again of course no one can beat mom's authentic Viet cooking!

I've been here three times, and the service is really top notch. They are very attentive and took it completely in stride when we brought in our own dessert (birthday cake). They even brought out a knife and plates/forks without being asked. Two of the three times we were here, they had a pianist there, Mike, who was REALLY good. He took my kids' many..many requests and even let my daughter help play on one song. It's a nice place to go Friday nights. The food is authentic Vietnamese, and they still offer the glorified chicken nuggets (aka Sweet and Sour chx) so my kids are happy too.

When you're desperate Classic Saigon will do, but otherwise drive 15 mins to St. Paul or Minneapolis for more authentic flavors. I also am confused when a restaurant tries to do so much as Classic Saigon has - offering Vietnamese, Chinese, and some American dishes - none of it done really well.

  • Chris M.

Exceptionally good authentic Vietnamese food. The pho is excellent and has that long-simmered flavor you expect in a great pho. All of the fish dishes use extremely fresh fish. The deep-fried walleye with meat sauce showcases some of the chef's skills with sauce making. A good test of any Vietnamese restaurant is the Hot Pot dishes. Try the seafood tofu hot pot. Several different seafoods in one dish and they're all cooked properly.
