We went just once, to try something else while in Duluth (even though we've eaten at the Timberlodge in Owatonna before). Seated quickly, food was decent, service was fast and efficient. No problems. Everything was as expected with a chain restaurant. We'd go again.

Beautiful place. Awesome menu with authentic unique dishes. Food was excellent. Loved the mini homemade bread loaf included with the meal. Also Jane homemade desserts! Affordable dining option but not cheap. Left very full and satisfied :)

been here once while staying at the suites. we came about 45 min to an hour before closing time but they still seated us. at first our appetizers came and then not even 5 minutes into eating, our dinner came so we had a ton of food to eat all at once. it was a bit overwhelming. it seemed like we barely touched our food. of course we had to pack it to go. service was good since there was only a couple other people in the restaurant. they did have a crazy good special going on that evening but we didn't take advantage of it.

If I could, I wouldn't even give this place one star, since we left without being served so much as a beverage. We went for happy hour, as the restaurant is attached to the hotel we stayed in and the hotel offers a complimentary drink. We sat in a corner booth in the bar area with our toddler. After about 5 minutes of sitting there with no service, a hostess offered to move us to the dining room because their bartenders were very busy. We said we didn't mind waiting where we were since we weren't in a hurry. However, after another ten minutes we still hadn't had anyone even take our drink order. Meanwhile, a guy who looked like a manager took a drink order and served the drinks to a couple who sat down well after us. He then finally noticed us, but when he came to our table, he didn't offer to take our order, but instead said that he could move us to the dining room where we could have better service. We were extremely offended, because we overheard his interaction with the other couple and not once did he suggest they relocate. Not sure if they didn't want us there because of the toddler, but I specifically asked the hostess if it was okay that we sit there and she said yes. Whatever the issue was, we felt extremely unwelcome and decided to just leave without ordering anything to eat or drink. The manager simply said, 'Have a nice day.' Never been to a Timberlodge before, and will never, ever go again.

The place is, as others have noted, aimed mostly at the tourists. But the food is reasonably priced for Canal Park and there is a lot of it in most cases. The fireplaces are very nice when it is cold and the decor, while kitschy, is nevertheless (I think) at least a little fun. The fish and the prime rib are both good options (as of course are the other steak options).

The worst experience Ive ever had at the Timberlodge by far. Went pretty late, there were only two other couples and a few people at the bar.Upon walking in I smelled the familar steak yuminess but halfway to our table the smell changed. They sat us right by the bathrooms and all I could smell through the whole meal was piss! IT WAS SOO STRONG AND SO GROSS! I swear I thought I was on a hidden camera show or something. I have never had an experience like that in my life.Yes, my fault for not asking to be moved but I just wanted to get the meal overwith, which by the way, despite the smell, the food was was as good as any of the other locations in the city.

We just completed a meal at the Timberlodge in Duluth, MN. Service was just above average but pleasant. After a long wait, two steaks came out of the kitchen just barely warm. The potatoes would not melt the butter. One steak was sent back and returned hot. French fries on a child's meal were greasy and soggy. We were told that they had run out of frozen fries and used fresh potatoes instead. In my opinion the fries were not safe to eat. We had to ask the manager for ketsup when the steak was returned to the table. We were frequent diners at a Timberlodge in our home town which closed several years ago. We expected much more for the reputation and price. Too many good restaurants in a Duluth to return to this one.

Poor food. Overpriced. Good service unfortunately not backed by the menu.

Seriously worst service and most clueless bartender I've ever witnessed. An app and a few drinks that should've taken maybe :45 minutes took 2 hours

The New York strip 12oz steaks were really well prepared and very tasty.

Really good food and excellent service. For the record I only saw 2 fish on the walls. It has a rustic decor but not over done. I will most certainly come back next time I'm in town

Service was good but the entree was smaller than an appetizer. The server explained that they are trying to more "fine dining" dishes but that doesn't mean the dish needs to be tiny.

I all fairness the food was pretty good and there was lots of it. However, everything else was below par. I suppose you should expect a restaurant in Canal Park to be a tourist trap, but Timberlodge pushes that button a bit much. I'm not a born & bred "northlander" but they seem to like their local charm over the top. A fish mounted on the wall, cute - 100 fish, overkill. I have no idea how long Timberlodge had been around, but it has that feel of a place that's been there "forever". As I said, I liked the food - pricey for what you get though. My party of 4 was $210 with no alcohol. That's not a lot of money for a good meal, if the atmosphere and overall experience are strong - they weren't.

Corporate sensibilities with a lumberjack veneer. If you enjoy Outback Steakhouse et al you will enjoy the Timber lodge otherwise avoid.

This place doesn't even merit a full review. Oh, and poor taste offering an Edmund Fitzgerald menu item and describing it as something you can "sink" your teeth into. Uncool Timberlodge, uncool.

So, thinking ahead, I knew New Years Eve would be busy, so I made reservations. I walked in about 5 minutes before my reservations. I was told that there is a wait, but because I made reservations, I shouldn't have to wait more than 20 minutes. What? At this point I am confused. Why should I have to wait at all if I made reservations? Now, the place isn't THAT busy. There's maybe 5-8 people waiting. No big deal. So, should we, who made reservations get the next available table? Good customer service would say yes. So we sat at the bar to have a quick drink before dinner. The bartender completely ignored us for the first 10 minutes. Didn't say hello, didn't say he'd be right with us, didn't even nod and smile. Finally he came over and took our order and went back to ignoring us. Nice. We waited the full 20 minutes. Almost to the dot. We were finally seated at a table that was slanted. Weird. Service was ok. The waitress didn't seem happy to be working on NYE. Food was ok. I do want to mention that it gave me the trots for the following 2 days though! Normally I like Timberlodge, but on this occasion, I was less than pleased. It may be awhile before I go back!
