Honestly not terribly impressed. The chicken wrap was full of coleslaw that was lacking in taste. Also the table hadn't been wiped down since the last guests (which we had been standing in there for 10 minutes before sitting down at this vacant table). I think if they were better staffed it would have been easier for them. They did however remedy a situation of a mistaken order with my friend which was nice. The second plate they sent out was a much higher quality. Overall a decent option but there are other places.

I used to live in Duluth and ate here at least 3 times a week for lunch as I worked in the tech center. I loved the homemade soup and the lady was always super friendly. I went back today, 8 years later and I didn't leave feeling the service or the food. The inside was also extremely dirty, our table looked like it wasn't wiped down all day. I'll most likely never return.

It is good but by far not 1/2 as good as the "other "place. The coneys were about as good as i could make at home but were nothing amazing. the fries are ok. So ya its good but the other place beats this in every way.

Went to this one many years ago and it was awesome. Went today and it was terrible. Gas station hot dogs are significantly better and much cheaper! I'm pretty sure the "coney sauce" is from a can (which could be described as terrible at best). Super disappointed.

Awesome dogs! Good $! Staff nice! Great stop, can't help but notice the sizzling dogs in the window.

My wife and I stopped in for breakfast during a long weekend in Duluth. The place is small and decorated with old-tyme american memorabilia like a dusty cafe on route 66. The place has been around for nearly 100 years and the memorabilia traces through the history of that time. The food is very standard classic american diner style eats. Our waiter was friendly, the coffee was hot and the service was prompt. The servings are not as bountiful as they are at Uncle Louis Cafe, but we left quite satisfied. We stayed just up the street so this made a fantastic walkable breakfast option. I wish we had time to try their lunch menu! Next time, I suppose.

Awful, uncomfortable booths. Dirty people sitting around (all day?) waiting for shelters to open. Confusing on how to order something as simple as diet coke as the prices are the same for bottle or fountain, but no refills if you don't get the fountain. Advertises wifi but it didn't work and the people working behind the counter acted like they didn't even know what wifi was. Go to McDonalds instead...screw the 'support local business' crap.

Awful service. Awful wait times for anything. Wrong food when it came out after an hour of waiting. Dirty dishes, dirty utensils. I used to come here every weekend with my girlfriend (now wife), and used to recommend it to friends/visitors. I will never visit this place again, not will I suggest you do either. Please, spend your money, and a lot of your time, somewhere else.

Unlike most of Duluth (where the culinary scene falls pathetically short), Coney Island sells a solid dog and a really good burger! The Good: they sell a really good Chicago Dog. The Bad: their dogs lack the pop you get from a natural casing. Also, unlike most premiere dog shops, Coney Island lacks variety or an original dog - like an wild rice dog or walleye dog. While the upgrades the new owners made have made the place more appealing and the food quality has gone up - it still needs to find its pop before it can play with the big dogs.

My mom and I were walking down superior street, and saw hot dogs sizzling on a grill in the window. We couldn't resist! Great dogs, and great service! Defiantly a great place to stop for a quick lunch.

A group of us came here for Breakfast and I must say our experience wasn't the best. First of all the cashier was super incompetent and couldn't get our order right, rang things into the register wrong, couldn't figure out the right amount of change even after we told them what we should get back, it was a mess. It took 15 minutes of standing around to get them to figure out a substitute for onion rings instead of fries...pathetic. A couple behinds us walked about because it was taking so long. Then to make matters worse, you only get 1 refil on a pop...seriously that stuff costs you like 10 cents! The food was okay but nothing to write home about. I don't think I will be back.

I literally dream about this place. I took my girlfriend here ( we are from Las Vegas) and she loves it as. As a native Duluthian I find it impossible for this place not to hit the spot. The coney sauce is very tasty, everything is freshly prepared. They have good frys and euros. I make the stop here every trip. The only reason for four stars is the past couple of years every time I go in there has been shady people around the front and it kills the family vibe. I'll keep going though and I highly recommend you to go as well.

Better than the Deluxe by far, which looks and feels like a homeless shelter. Original has style. Good breakfast. Decent staff. Awesome hash browns. Cheap prices. What more do you need?

Once upon a time, a young Greek made the treacherous journey from the Twin Cities to Duluth, heeding the call of pioneering Duluthians hungry for hot dogs. The year was 1921. 90 years later, the Original Coney Island, is still selling dogs, but new owners have made a few upgrades recently. The vintage appearance (even the original ceiling) have been left intact, but the interior has been spruced up, and the walls decorated with memorabilia. But perhaps the biggest change, is that after 90 years, Original has joined the 'major leagues' of hot doggers, by adding Vienna Beef products to their menu. Vienna, from Chicago, is unquestionably the king of hot dog suppliers, the preferred dog of weenie wizards like moi. Minnesota Burger Report Kawikamedia and his burger posse stopped into Original recently, and raved about the authenticity of the natural casing Chicago style dog, adorned with all the right condiments, including the trademark neon green relish, nestled in the appropriate poppy seed bun. They also sampled the skinless Vienna with Original's coney sauce, and the Italian beef sandwich as well. For those unfortunate readers who have not had Italian (or Chicago) Beef, it's tantamount to a garlicy French dip, and is goooooooooooooood. For extra joy, have them dip your buns into the au jus. You'll be glad you did.

My wife and I recently stayed in a hotel only two blocks away and we ate breakfast here every day. If you're looking for good home-made food, friendly service, and local atmosphere, this is the place for you. Although we were obviously tourists, we were welcomed into the very friendly group of local customers who seemed to know each other. This is obviously a neighborhood hangout and it was great fun listening to the banter while we enjoyed our meals. Next time we're in Duluth, we'll stop here for lunch too!

Horrible. Counter staff clearly doesn't care if you ever come back or not, it's full of marginally drunk/homeless people who aren't paying customers, they charge the same price for a bottle of pop or a fountain pop, but will only give refills on a fountain pop; there are signs all over the place that advertise free wifi but when asked, the counter staff looks at you like they don't even know what wifi (or even the internet) is, in short it was just a dirty place with this 'I don't give a (blank)' attitude.

Coney Island dog it is not, but it's still pretty close. The restaurant itself looks pretty cool and yeah has a nostalgic look and feel. The food is tasty, and cheap. So yeah it was a nice place to stop in for a quick bite. ~G

"will she do egg whites?" "she'll have to, won't she?" Awesome place. He had the biscuits and gravy (grilled before smothering with white gravy full of chunks of sausage). She had interesting oatmeal with blueberries and egg whites. Toaste nothing to write home about, but fresh. Frequent customers help out when waiter is busy by cleaning their own table! Our 20 bucks left a large tip.

In all my years traveling to Duluth, I finally made time to pull up to this near century old classic. Most definitely an authentic throw back in age of pretenders. Not the best Coney I have ever had nor certainly the worst. But I thoroughly enjoyed the half hour looking at the nostalgia on the walls and ceiling. The Coney as I said was very average, not as good of sauce as I have tasted for sure. But the Chicago Dog was the real deal. Prices were cheap. Absolutely cheap. Walking distance to Canal Park and easy access off I-35 if your headed to the north shore. And tell them Gus sent you...

Not thebest coney I've ever had, actually not even close. It's tolerable, but barely. And if they're going for 'we don't give a shit if you ever come back here', they've nailed it. And don't even thnk about ordering breakfast without an attitude. (If you don't want to work on a Saturday morning, then don't come to work) Go up to 1st street just a block or two up and over for the same mediorcre food with way better servivce.

If you need a quick bit and are walking down the sidewalk I'd say stop by, don't go out of your way. Coney sauce was dry but OK and the hot dog was OK, but not special. Fries are good though.

In all my years of consuming Coney Dogs, I've never had one topped with ground beef before. I can't say I ever want another one topped with ground beef again.
