Not the worst, but not bad. Average. Service was great. The food was a bit like fast food but the prices were not.

This is the best Mexican restaurant in Duluth. I like the food better than Lindo. However, I like the drinks at Lindo better. But overall, it's a great restaurant. The staff is friendly. You never have to wait long for a table.... Even when it's busy.

This place does not have good food. It isn't that it is BAD, it's just that it is very bland and flavorless. The meat didn't seem to be very seasoned at all. The average meal is $10 and while it is a decent amount of food, it's not good food. Our server sucked, too. No personality and didn't bring us the things we asked for.

From out of town & found what appeared to be a decently rated restaurant. Walked in, sat down and was immediately greeted by the waiter who served us chips and salsa. While looking at the menus, two of us immediately realized how rancid the chips were!!! If the chips were rancid, how bad might the rest of the food be? Immediately got up and left! If you've ever tasted anything rancid, you'll know why.

Unimpressed. We arrived just before 8:00 on a Friday night. Before our orders had been taken the staff was already putting up chairs at the tables around us. We felt like we needed to hurry and eat so they could close (sign said open until 10:00). Chips were stale. I'm confident there was zero tequila in my margarita. Most of the food was just ok. The up side is that the portions are huge but I guess that's not really a win when the food only tastes ok. Service was good. Our young waiter was very helpful. You could tell it was his first job (we asked too) and he was trying to be great.

Food was fast, fresh and large portions. For the many options of Mexican restaurants we have in Duluth Azteca's is definitely in the top two to visit. Pricing was reasonable and friendly service. We will definitely come back.

Unless you need to stare at Lake Superior while eating tacos, go here instead of the places at Fitgers or Little Angie's. The food was GREAT. It was one of those meals that was so good, I was in a better mood afterwards. It isn't fancy, but the prices are reasonable and the service was good. I can't verify if it is "authentic" Mexican food, but I'm more interested in eating good food than worried about it's authenticity. My dad had the Minnesota special. It is pretty much one of everything. I'll be getting that next time.

OMG! We have eaten here for years but under new ownership the food and service here is great! Have eaten here for 3 times since new ownership and we will keep coming back here! Usually eat at Lindo's but the food here is actually better now! Keep up the great food and service Azteca's! Wow am I full!

If you are looking for authentic Mexican food, do not go here. There are more authentic and better tasting Mexican restaurants in Duluth. I am from Mexico and this is not Mexican food. It is American-ized Mexican food that is very heavy. There are also tons of spelling errors in Spanish all over the restaurant and menu... clearly not authentic. I was disappointed

Perhaps it was the 2.99 margarita going to my head on an empty stomach, but I ordered my usual Chile Colorado and experienced Mexican food Nirvana. My husband got veggie fajitas. I thought it was weird that they included cauliflower, instead of sticking to onions and peppers, but I didn't pay much attention because that slow cooked pork was so good...

I guess it's okay. I'd pick this place over the mess that is Little Angie's in Canal Park any day. This Mexican restaurant is located in a small strip mall, so as far as ambiance, there really isn't any. This seems to be more of a place that the locals would hit up, as it's far away from the tourist areas. Our hotel was near here so that's how we ended up eating here. The chips and salsa were pretty good -- they're nothing special, just exactly what you'd expect from a Mexican restaurant. Prices are reasonable. I ordered the Fajita Chicken Taco Salad and thought it was okay, but was disappointed that they toss in so many very LARGE vegetables and not enough chicken. The chicken meat is excellent and high quality.

We absolutely love going to Aztecas. It is always great no matter what we order. Very fresh food. There is always a great grilled taste to the veggies and meats. Best Mexican restaurant we have found anywhere around here. The boyfriend has said it tastes as good as when he lived in Caifornia.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
