Rick Bronson’s House of Comedy Menu

Customer service definitely altered my first experience here. I ordered a mountain dew while waiting to see Jon Lovitz. About 1/4 of the way through it I noticed a hair frozen through a piece of ice. I asked the waiter if I could have another and he responded by laughing and walking away with my cup. I waited, knowing he was busy, but he never looked at me again. When we finally got to be seated, we were one of the first people in line, so we were put up front. Normally this isn't a bad thing, but I had a knee injury. My girlfriend and I both asked the waitress if we could be seated somewhere other than the crowded front, she said because it was a sold out show there was no way she could move us. I'm sure a little problem solving could have fixed that. And finally, there was the ordering. We ordered a water each and a spinach dip appetizer. She suggested a Liter of water for us would be cheaper, which was nice. Then she double checked on the appetizer we wanted. We got our water not too long after, but never saw the appetizer. I know I could have just simply asked again for any of these things, but I have high anxiety as it is and didn't want to be even more uncomfortable with my already dreadful knee pain. Had these things not have happened, I definitely would have gave 4-5 stars. I'm sure it's not always this way, but the experience has me debating if I'll ever come back.

This was my first visit to Rick Bronson's, normally we go to Acme but their show was sold out so I thought I would give this place a try. The lounge is quite small but the show room is very large. I will say the set up is very odd. We had great seats so I'm not going to complain about the set up as our experience was great! But my review may have been very different. There are some seats that could've been very bad. The comedian we had was hilarious! Also looking at the schedule it looks like they get big name acts. Not sure I would do the dinner package as there are a lot of good restaurants at the MOA so I would eat there instead and go to the show after. We didn't eat there but the food didn't look great to me. As far as the comedians go the 2nd and 3rd acts were great, the host (not sure what they call them) was not very good but I've seen that at acme as well so I won't dock them stars for that. All in all I still like Acme but this is another great option in the area.

I've never had anything less than an amazing time here! Their line ups fit just about everyone's comedy likes. If you don't see someone you want to see, just check the schedule-I'm sure someone is coming that you would like. My friends and I showed up to the club about an hour before doors open and were able to grab some food and drinks at the bar. Yes, it's pretty standard mall food. Kind of upscale food court type quality but who cares. The bar is beautiful and staff is so nice. I'm happy to support my favorite comedians and am happy to do it at House Of Comedy!

Awful. Awful. Awful. Do not expect to have a great time when you're in the hands of Rick Bronson and his crew. After multiple hopeful attempts to give it a chance this place exceeds in under-delivering. I'm sure the only reason they are still open is because they have a 10-year lease at the MOA. They are short on talent and long on wait times for a drink. Sorta backwards? I have two hacks for this place: come drunk and with a flask in tow to tolerate the 'talent' 'cuz you won't get another opportunity to order another drink during the show despite the 'hard work' of the always new staff, and #2 don't bring a date or anyone you want to impress because you think it's a cool place. The owner obviously doesn't care about who's there. Why should we???????????

The host was funnier than the opening guy. But all 3 acts were really funny. The headliner was especially great at interacting with the audience and going with whatever happened! One of the best meals I've had at a bar lately, also. Martini's were well made.

2 thumbs up to Jay Joseph!!! Amazing customer service, our show was cancelled so not only did he secure us tickets to the sold out show, he put us in the VIP section! Way to go above and beyond! 5 Stars for sure!

If you come here for the comedy you will be pleased. If you come here for the food or drinks (or lack thereof) you will not be pleased. The space is very large, and you can see pretty well from most seats. Seating is strange though. It is general admission, but you are seated by a hostess/server; I couldn't figure out any rhyme or reason to why they seated people where they seated them. You will be with strangers, unless you have a large group. During shows, do not expect service, definitely not good service. My party of two ordered sodas when we sat and it was nearly 25 minutes before we received our beverages. No refills. No checking on us to see if we wanted any other drinks or food (we did). No water either, bottles only and you have to pay. Most recently I went to see Dave Coulier. He was great, but as one other reviewer noted: the opener was uncomfortably bad. Props to the host, who was extremely hilarious and I would go see a show with him as the headliner (though I cannot remember his name now!). The bathrooms were quite nice, clean and had the sound from the show piped in so you didn't miss a laugh. I would go here again for a show, without expecting much else.

I REALLY wanted to enjoy this evening. It was our "date" night. I paid $30 extra for the premium seating. It turns out that the "good" seating was in the far back. Disappointed! The food was pretty good. BUT!!!! We were charged for EVERY single diet we ordered... no free refills. I've never even heard of that!! Disappointed! I requested a menu so that I could order a dessert. The waitress didn't return for 30 minutes! Disappointed! Finally, when you spend extra money for the "special" seating (in the back of the room!) you are supposed to receive a ticket for another show. We did get these. But upon reading them in the car after leaving the show, I noticed it expired THAT NIGHT!! I called and left a message, but no one has decided to call me back....All the poor customer service/environment set up distracted us from the comedian, who actually WAS pretty funny. But, overall, the experience was NOT worth the $130 we paid for this experience....

4 of 10 comics were funny for a Tuesday, the MC was the best Miss Shawna (sp?), would like to have seen her perform the whole show. Too bad the social media aspect and the website is lacking, it would be nice to follow your fav comics.

I was pretty disappointed with this place. The waiting area was so crowded. The bartenders we're standing behind the bar talking to one another rather than helping customers. The show started 30 minutes late. There was no concept of a line so getting in the show was a nightmare. Our drinks took until half way through the show to receive. The double had barely any alcohol in it therefore WAY overpriced. It would have been overpriced even if served correctly. The organization to the place was a 0. The only reason I gave 2 stars was because the headliner was funny. My recommendation is to skip going here.

Went to a comedy show on 1/24. Show was sold out and the staff was really struggling. Show started an hour late and we never got a drink the entire show. We ordered drinks and then 30 minutes later I approached the waiter because we hadn't received them. He said they were behind. Then 20 minutes later he brought the wrong order to our table. The comedian was great but the service may have been the worst we have ever experienced.

Very funny headliners. Awkward seating set-up. I've been to RB's House of Comedy several times and have always experienced a lot of laughter. Like most comedy clubs, they bring out several comedians for each show, and the starting folks can be hit or miss. There's the emcee who introduces each comedian and performs a bit himself, then one or two more interim performers before the headliner act. This gives the audience plenty of opportunity to find some good laughs. The headliners can be nationally recognized acts that will make you laugh until your stomach hurts. Good times. Most of the seating is at long communal tables meant to fit various parties together. Awkward. Because of the angle of the tables (perpendicular or parallel to the stage), your view is often of the back of some stranger's head and many of the seats don't even face the stage. I do not like this set-up at all and neither do the comedians because they can't see the faces of the audience. All of the other comedy clubs in the Twin Cities find a way to have each audience member facing the stage, so why can't Rick Bronson's figure it out? The food selection and quality is pretty much on par with typical bar food. Burgers, fried appetizers, pizzas, salads, and some completely overpriced entrees. That being said, if you stick to the true bar food items it's decent. Getting to the place an hour early gives you the option to eat before the show and select the lesser of the awkward and uncomfortable seats in the house. Bottom line, there are some really funny comedians here and you should definitely check it out if you like live comedy.

As comedy clubs go...decent... If drinks and food were cheap, id be at home, right? The space itself isnt very inviting... I wish theyd take the wall down in front and let people sit outside the club in tables and chairs...the bar and storefront is not very inviting... Ive gone three times...Dave Coulier, Brad Williams, and someone I dont remember and they were all pretty funny...Couliers opener was uncomfortably bad...but the mcs or house comedians are very funny and shoot the crap pretty well...

One of the guy headliners was funny, that girl comedian from Coon Rapids sucked, get a new career and I hope this is a part time gig for her. My wife brought us here to see Dave Coulier cause she is a big Full House fan and while some parts of his act were funny, some were just soso. I personally would have seen comedians more on the Chris Rock, Dane Cook, or Andrew Dice Clay level but overall the show wasn't bad. we got good seats right up by the stage but it was cramped for seating and a pain in the *ss to get up up to go for a smoke or use bathroom as we had to walk over 3 tables in order to get out to the main walkway. Service was slow when we first got their which was early as it took like 20 minutes to get our very first drink order to us but after that things improved, but at first I thought I'm gonna have to squeeze through and get out to the bar to order our drinks for the night but they turned it around. My wife and I when we go out tend to have more than a few cocktails, we work on getting obliterated. I had 3 mixed drinks, 3 shots, and 3 beers, my wife had about 6 drinks, we both had dinner there and our bill was 125 before tip so definetly not cheap here and my main gripe is with the food prices. I ordered the Korean Burger and paid an extra charge for cheese( all of there burgers it seemed like didn't have cheese and found another reason to gouge you more for an up charge for something that's usually included on a burger). Who the hell just orders a HAMBURGER anymore. This isn't 1947 and its rebellious to add cheese to a freakin burger like my grandparents thought, its the norm. My burger was ok but not huge and the waffle fries tasted like Ore Ida out of the bag. For 18 dollars my meal was disappointing. I do realize this is the MOA and everything costs more because its one of the highest places for retailers to pay rent in the United States but at least do better on the food if your charging 20 a head. My wifes meal situation is what really made the whole meal situation a total flop, she royally got scr*wed on her end. She ordered the meatball. And I thought for 15 bucks that must be one huge meatball. Pffft, what a joke. The meatball was bigger than an average meatball so it is large, but large on the level like how at certain Italian restaurants if you order spaghetti and want meatballs added they don't charge you a few bucks for a plate full of them, they sell you 1 large meatball for a dollar upcharge per meatball and most people order just 2 cause there large and you have a plate full of noodles and sauce and bread usually. A place by my house called Guissepes does it this way and sells you large meatballs to add to your spaghetti for a buck. The meatball my wife got last night, the one meatball was the size of one of those meatballs that cost a buck to add to your meal at Guissepes. We paid 15 dollars for that joke of a meatball with red sauce and it didn't come with noodles or bread so my wife was basicly still F*ckin starving. My advice to anyone is do not order that, order the flatbread pizza thing, the skinny girl sitting across from us did and it cost the same as what we got. It was the size of like half a large pizza and she couldn't finish it. If the management is reading this our meals blowed. Stop serving ore Ida fries and quit trying to be trendy by having a one small meatball as a meal because its the trendy, sheek thing to do and throw some pasta and garlic bread in that Sh*t for 15 dollars a pop. Yes I can tell how trendy your trying to be by how the menu is with listing prices without the decimal point and spelling out the price number. Poleez, your food isn't good enough to act like the hot snobby b*tch at the club who will only go home with a ritch doo*hbag. Your food is not on that level.

I was excited to go to the House of Comedy -- I'd wanted to go the last time I visited, but it didn't pan out. In fact, I was so excited about the evening that I was planning on talking my sister and her friends to stay after and go dancing. Fat chance. At least, for me, anyway. Turns out, I was in no condition to be out that night. The place is HUGE for a comedy club. In fact, it's the biggest one I've ever been in. And if anyone tells you that you have to get there early on a weekday -- they are full of shite. We got there plenty early and the place was half empty. The seats in back are plenty good, too. It was during Xmas week - so I really thought there would be more folks. NOT. Be prepared to get picked on if you sit in front; it's just part of the game. In fact, if they were really sly, the comics would concentrate on the back. Now that would be a show! The service was great and everyone was very friendly. No snobolas here. The location - - really figure out where you want to park or you can also schedule your exercise routine just to get to the joint, once inside the Mall of America. Or, in my case, the Stall of a Scarica. You see, I had an allergy attack while inside (no one's fault) and had trouble walking. I would have left, except that my sister bought the tickets and I didn't want to spoil anyone's evening. But I felt like hell in any case. And I was scared to death, because I'd never felt that way before. I'd just had the flu a week before -- and truth be told, I probably wasn't over it yet. That combo of allergies and flu just put me right over the edge. I can't fully describe what it is like to watch a comedy show in a physical state of panic. That must be what it is like to do recreational drugs. At times, I didn't feel like I was really even there. All I know is, I really didn't wanna die at the f-ing Mall of America ... I mean, that's just not right. In many ways, that place is so NOT what I think of as a peaceful place to go out. The noise. The stale air. The stuff! OMG the stuff! I long since gave up the art of mall shopping as a sport a long time ago. It's fun once in a while, but mostly my budget allows only window shopping. And that is fine by me. But dying in the MOA is just no way to go. And the irony of being at a comedy club? Well, it just doesn't get any freakier than that. I thought the comics were good. Not great, but good. Of course, as spaced out as I was -- it's probably not fair to be judgmental. From what I remember, I did crack a smile from time to time. Had I not felt ill, I would have laughed more. Because I love to laugh. Just not when I can barely breathe or walk. One of the people we were with said they would assign a grade of "good" as well -- so I'm probably on target with that assessment. I should also admit that I'm pretty spoiled. I have spent far too many hours in places like Chicago's renowned Second City and on the strip in Hollywood at the Comedy Store, Laugh Factory and Improv. In fact, I'd call myself a first class comedy whore. I also do a bit of comedy sketch writing and have an incredible collection of recorded stand-up comedy. I'd go again -- that is, if I weren't too scared I'd have another allergy attack ... or whatever else it was that happened to me that evening. It's not their fault at all -- but going back would bring back that memory, for sure. Try the place out if you're up for a few laughs. They have a great website where you can check to see who's on. Support comedians; laughter always makes the world a much better place!

This place really kind of sucks. First, it took forever to get our drinks. The glass my drink came in had a funky smell & ruined the taste. Second, they keep the lights on during the show which is just uncomfortable & awkward when you are seated so close to strangers & especially when a comedian sucks ( which one did). The opening "comedian" was the worst I have ever seen ever, period. She actually said "at least I'm still getting paid" no matter what she did. It was straight up insulting considering that we paid our hard earned $ for it. Since the lights were on & blaring in our eyes you could see the audiences reaction to her which was generally a look of contempt & disgust. The main act was pretty decent & saved the bad situation. Third, the location is lame. I mean its in the mall of America. You can go get something to eat at one of their crappy restaurants after but that's it. Skip it & go do something else or just watch Comedy Central stand up from the comforts of your home.

I love going to comedy shows, especially those cheap tickets for amateaur nights. In addition they also bring in some pretty big names. A friend of mine is a budding local comedian here in the Twin Cities and she introduced me to this place. My first reacation was, it's in the MOA, yuck! I avoid that place at all costs, but just ignore the fact that you are the mall and you'll be fine. When she told me we had free tickets and they serve food, I was all in. The table service was a little slow at first, but I must say the food was much better than typical bar fare. I had some delicious mini burgers with some kind of seasoned mayo. One downside, no free refills on soda. I didn't order a drink, but I'm guessing the booze is overpriced too. Otherwise, the set up is great and there is plenty of space if you bring a large group. You sit at tables rather than in rows of chairs, so you can spread out and be comfortable.

We had a good time last night at "Hit or Miss Tuesday" at the House of Comedy. It lived up to its name, hit or miss, as some comics were definitely better than others. Still, at $7/ticket a good time was had by all, even when it came to some of the duds of the evening. I was stunned at how good the fries were. Seriously, order the fries. They're battered or something like that before they fry 'em. Yum! I'll definitely be back, but there are some caveats I'd mention that take it down a star or two in my book: --It's at the Mall of America. 'Nuf said. --Drinks were very, very weak. Do not go there planning to enjoy a real drink unless you bring your own. (Which you totally could, they turn down the lights, no one would be the wiser. You know you want to.) --The seating is very awkward, other reviewers have commented on this too. --Service was awful. Order everything you want/need before the show starts, because once the lights go down you're not getting anything else. A plate and some napkins would have been appreciated, but no such luck. All in all, we'll be back. Cheaper than a movie and a good event for a group.

Very nice - had a great time. The act they brought in was very entertaining, the opener from MN was hilarious - the only part that kind of stunk was the MC for the night. Kind of raunchy and not that funny. Didnt eat any food, but it looked good. Decent beer selection - had more options than just Bud or Coors light, and that was a plus. I will definately be back.

This place gets an extra star because of the host and headliner. The warm up person was hilarious. The headliner (Sebastian something...) was better than the Comedy Central special he had. It loses a star because the drink prices are so high and it's a trek to park and walk through the mall of america to get to your show.

I have not revisited HOC. But the manager finally responded to me about the refund. I was issued a full refund, which is what I was seeking. I cannot speak to the venue itself, since we have not visited but I do appreciate that my issue was resolved.

The food's a bit overpriced, but if you hit it up at happy hour, the drinks are decent. However, don't try asking for a glass of water or you'll get a weird explanation as to why they have to charge you $2.50 for a bottle. They have a bar and serve soda (which inherently has to have water for soda to be dispensed)! I still give this place 3 stars because the evening was still overall enjoyable with the entertainment that was provided (and having my lovely coworkers accompany me).

Thinking about going here? DON'T!! We bought the dinner package, however, the dinner package has a limited menu, for anything besides burgers or pizza there is an up-charge. We understood how the pricing was purported to work. The up-charge is supposed to be between $5-$8 per upgraded entree and does not include appetizers or beverages. Apparently, this math is more than their POS system can handle as we were overcharged for our meal. They tried to fix it twice and still overcharged us and couldn't even explain how they came up with the pricing on the bill. The pizza was supposed to be flat-bread, but it turned out to be the kind of doughy pizza that you would find on a kids' menu. The salmon was a prepacked slab and served with either rice or mashed potatoes, I am not even sure exactly what it was. The first thing to come out was the salad, even before the silverware! We asked for the appetizer to come out first, but it came out with the meal. In all fairness, the manager did comp the appetizer after we complained that it came out late. But in the meantime, our sub-par entrees got cold. We didn't expect great food, only standard bar and grill type of fare. Even so, we were disappointed. There are way better comedy clubs in the Twin Cities, don't waste your time at this one.

We visited on the evening of March 7, 2015. The venue was very clean and the staff were very courteous. The two opening comedians were actually much more entertaining than the headliner during our visit. I would recommend this place to anyone. The price is also very reasonable.

I would never go back. First, they won't give you a glass of water. The drinks are filled with soda, a really expensive glass of soda I might add (no diet allowed either). So I ordered a "Lemon drop" shot thinking they couldn't skip out on the alcohol in that, since it's the only ingredient...yup..they can...if your going to order anything other than bottled beer...skip it and go to Acme. I couldn't taste the alcohol..in a shot, so what was in it? The speakers were so loud it hurt, which I never have experienced. They lost our reservation after calling all day to get through the phone lines and their limited customer service. We had to beg them to let us in...which I wish I had just gone home EXCEPT..the headliner was super funny but the MC and opener were flat at best. It could be a great place but I want to go and enjoy myself, have dinner and drinks and watch the show and I can't do that there. There are too many great places to go like Acme, Brave new comedy workshop, and I would like to try the Joke Joint in Lillydale...wouldn't bother with Rick Bronson's

  • Glen S.

I really don't know what to write... Rick Bronson's always has great shows and know just how to get the crowd on any given night into it. They do a great job at promoting their performers and even get headliners who have sold out theaters their last time through town. Service is amazing as well. Those servers work their asses off to make sure you have everything you need. They work together really well and have never had bad experiences with them. Food is alright. Really, it wasn't anything that I would go out of my way for, but really just eat while someone is talking up on stage. The selection of food is typical, flatbreads, burgers, apps, etc, etc and the prices are about what you'd expect. Being a comedy club (for those of you who have never been to one) they like packing you in next to each other, which really doesn't give you a lot of room to eat. I don't mind doing that, but I could see how some idiot would.

  • Mj N.

Terrible. Food was overpriced for what you got, plus 3 out of our 8 meals were cold or wrong! Drinks were a bit pricey (want plain old water? It'll cost ya! $2.50 for a bottle! Which is the only option unless you drink from the sink in the bathroom). Service was "ok" at best, but took well over an hour to get our meals. The comedian that opened for the comedian was good, but the headliner was distasteful. I'm not easily offended, especially at a comedy club but I was so sick of this guy. Nobody was laughing and yet he kept going with his terrible jokes. Seriously folks, stay away!

Food was decent, nothing special. Atmosphere wasn't as nice as Acme, and we got unlucky that the comedian wasn't very good our night. Pretty pricy for what we got, prefer Acme comedy club to this one.

There are many great stand up comedy venues in the Twin Cities, but the House Of Comedy is by far the best! Im a comedian, and this club is my favorite one to perform at. The staff is great, the crowds are always fun and the club itself is one of the nicest in the country. Comedy fans keep supporting this club! joeyvincentcomedy.com Twitter @MrJoeyVincent

I like funny things. And I like funny people. So, I should totally like this comedy club, right? Eh. Kind of. I've met Rick Bronson, namesake and funnyman behind the HOC, and he's an amazing guy. He's Canadian, which makes him cool. He's been a comedian himself, which gives him street cred. And he dresses well, which probably means he's from out of town. Not funny, I know. I get some points for trying, though, right? The HOC would be great, but for location. Situated on the 5th floor of the Mall or America, it's stuck in the midst of my least favorite suburban shopping mecca. It's hell to get to on a Friday or Saturday night, what with all the shoppers taking up parking spots in the mall's ramps. The light rail is a good option for getting there, but the last train leaves at midnight, so you're screwed if you want to stay and imbibe after the show. The concept is great, though. Since opening last fall, the HOC has brought in Norm MacDonald, D.L. Hughley, Christopher Titus and a bunch of other really good comics. The venue itself is spacious and comfortable, but the drink prices - - are INSANELY high. $8 for a 16oz Summit. Really. So drink before you go, or bring some of your own sauce if you so choose. Take a cab or find a friend to drive you, and for heaven's sake, don't expect to walk out of the HOC and find another friendly watering hole within walking distance. The MOA's 5th floor looks like an abandoned Old West town - though new development has been promised.

I've been twice and enjoyed the show. The service was cool but they have liquor taxes so instead of paying $4.50 for a glass you will pay 4.61?? awkward. Seating is ok if you don't mind sitting at a table with strangers if the place happens to get crowded (not the typical row setting) umm location wise umm yeah its the MOA what can I say lol. Sometimes before and after the show they have drink specials at the bar. Overall it's cool, I will def go again.

Finally got a chance to check this place out last night with my wife and I must say I enjoyed myself. The headliner was Godfrey with a few good opening acts. I had purchased my tickets online just for regular seating at 19 bucks and when we arrived I was shocked to see the seating layout literally it reminded me of sitting in my old high school cafeteria with hardly any space to breath since it was a full house. I thought there was no way in hell imma be sitting this close next to strangers smelling their breath all night long! So I had to jump on the only vip table that was left and thank God that I did. Right away the service was better the host insisted he carry my menu since I had brought it up front to get a VIP table. Which I felt like was a very nice gesture. Anyways so for $15 a ticket extra we moved to the VIP area which was a whole lot more comfortable with a candle lit table and a very comfortable bench to sit on. It was perfect! The stage itself is very cool looking with lots of detail and appeal. The sound was just mediocore. At times the mic was too loud then to low. But I never missed a joke. The food service was kind of slow. We had the Hot wings and half pound burger and fries. The wings were superb and the burger was basically falling apart from not being cooked long enough oh yeah and they forgot our bacon on the burger which we ordered. But all in all it was a good experience. They just need to create more comfortable seating in the general area and speed up there food service and improve efficiency and it would be perfect. But I shall return. VIP ONLY!
