Perfect dive bar! One of the best burgers in the North Metro!! I recommend the Piper Burger! If you're really hungry, get the Piper II! It's got three 1/3 lb patties! But be careful... They've been known to give way bigger patties than 1/3 lb! (see the picture)

This is one of my favorite places to go! It has take-out, dine in and delivery! Some of my favorites from this place is the hangover hashbrowns, desert fire burger, the Bloody Mary bar, pancakes, and everything omelet. Parking is a nightmare and it can be really busy especially on Sunday for brunch. Service has been a hit and miss at this place. Sometimes the nice older lady is sweet but some of the younger girls are impatient.

Sometimes I wake up drooling thinking of the hangover hashbrowns! Not to mention the bloody mary bar is awesome! The only downside is sometimes the wait can be 30+ minutes. Would love to see them relocate to a larger location so they didn't have this issue. Either way- I always keep coming back.

Terrible. If you're a regular here & don't appreciate honesty, tough. We (a large party of roughly 15) arrived and sat on the patio; this did not please our waitress, and she let us know with respect to table arrangements. That's fine, I can understand you don't want your patio "overrun" with kids - but WE are paying good money for each person to eat, so I don't really care if 5 or 6 twelve year olds bothers your sensibilities. Two of our party didn't get the meal they ordered until after the rest of our party was served and had eaten (I didn't eat my meal as it was horrible), I ordered eggs - over hard. I get runny eggs & cold toast. My wife ordered plain un toasted bread, with hard eggs; you guessed it, toasted bread & runny eggs - WTF? Is it THAT frigging hard to cook eggs at old piper? The coffee is dirty dishwater and the staff are friendly (it appears) ONLY if you're a local; wait staff were friendly to patrons they knew, distant and somewhat annoyed with newer customers. One of our party asked the manager to come over - younger guy with NO interest in hearing our complaints or making things right ( like the shitty runny eggs I set aside). He listened, then shuffled away. If you come in from out of town - AVOID THIS PLACE at all costs; if you're a local, you can keep it - the food & service are rotten.

I wouldn't frequent OPI as much as I do if I didn't think it was an excellent place! I love it so much that I stop in at least a few times a week. First of all the staff is amazing! They remember our drink order and we never sit with an empty glass. We're greeted with a friendly hello by all. Jen always makes it a point to stop over at our table for some small talk. Lindsay, Lynn and Marie are great bartenders! We love them, along with so many other staff members. As for the food, it's almost as good as the staff. For breakfast you can't go wrong with the Mexican omelet, so yummy! The steak bites are THE BEST appetizer and a real bang for your buck. The BBQ chicken pizza is delicious! As are the quesadillas and burgers. The salads are also great! Honestly, I've actually never had bad food here. The only time I wasn't 100% satisfied with my food was when I had it delivered. I called and was given a gift card to make up for the bad experience. The beer is always cold and the drinks are good. They have a drink, shot, wine and beer of the month special so it's fun to try different things. This place will treat you like family. I love it!! See you soon Piper!

We love coming here. Our 4 year old even gets excited to order the nummy chocolate chip pancakes. The bloody bar is well stocked and they have a great Twins game special - $5 double cheeseburger and fries and also $7 bucket of beer. My only complaint was the potato skins and the hot turkey sandwich are very bland.

We've been here for breakfast twice now and have been disappointed. This is not a 'down home, home-cooked breakfast' place by any stretch, but seems to offer it more as a second thought to the sports bar theme. They offer sausage links or patties. Patties ares the same stuff you get at McDonalds, and the links are of the mushy heat and eat type with no casing, so not links at all. The last time we ate there the bacon we ordered came barely warm and had been sitting off grill for too long, so obviously not cooked to order, and was on a cold plate along with our eggs. There's not a lot in this area with a bar too get all day breakfast, but you're better to go 8 miles into Mpls. for that, or Fat Nat's in Brooklyn Park if you don't need a bar, for an excellent breakfast. The rest of their menu is typical bar food, mostly burgers and Sysco frozen precooked fried foods, if you're into that.

Great food and great service for a fair price. Have tried several of the sandwiches and they have all been great! Love the seasoned sour cream! :)

Horrible customer service. No management was around or someone who cared; even after an umbrella flew & hit one of the people in our party. We then asked for our food to go and our waitress got an attitude and pretty much threw our bill on the table. We will not be returning for the lack of service & lack of apology.

Watch Out....they charge you for extras! If you want mayo or a side of ranch...they charge you 50 cents but dont tell you upfront. They ask if you would like onions or cheese on something....oh and never tell you that will be 50 cents. Once you get the bill you will see what they are charging you 50 cents extra, which would have been nice to know upfront! I love the food but find it a really poor way of making extra money on their customers.

We were looking for someplace different for breakfast... don't get me wrong, our usual place is great, but sometimes you like a change. This is basically a bar that serves breakfast, and the quality of the breakfast is just what you would expect at a bar. The service was great and if you like a Bloody Mary, they do have a Bloody Mary bar... but beyond that, nothing too exciting.

Typical diner/bar menu large portions, full bar with drink specials. Lots of dart boards, games, pull tabs. Service is what you'd expect from a 3-star dive establishment. Local owned, outdoor seating, tvs inside only. Decent bathrooms.

My family always likes this place. The burgers are good. Waffle fries are good. The seasoned sour cream is the best ever.

I had the Piper Burger, waffle fries, and mini tacos. All the food was perfect. I had a couple of bread scraps left after I'd finished the burger. I sat around for twenty minutes or so and then the waitress said "you almost finished it!" when she finally came around to take the plate away. I consider the service here to be problematic.

I almost never write reviews, but my experience here was just too bizarre to forget. First, I arrived around 20 minutes before my friends. A waitress asked for my drink order and I told her I needed a minute to decide. "You need a minute?!" she asked incredulously. I said yes, just a minute, if you want to come back in a bit. She walked off in a huff and she literally never came back. She was still around, but she never came back. Close to 15 minutes later, a different waitress came up and took my drink order. I ordered a burger "Medium" and it came extremely well done. I didn't complain; I ate it anyway, but it was very disappointing. I had three Lime Vodka Coolers. I sucked them down pretty quickly and just wasn't feeling anything. They have the word Vodka in the name, so they should have some alcohol in them, right? I used my breathalizer on the way home and my level was 0.007. Like, completely sober, and I'd had a glass of wine at home before going out. My friends had different issues with their food and drinks, but for the sake of time, I will just share the bizarre one. My friend was drinking a diet soda. The waitress nicely brought her another one even though she had a full soda in front of her. We shrugged. Shortly after, another waitress came up and asked her if she wanted another soda. She had two full sodas in front of her. It was pretty hilarious. I gave two stars because the tater tots were crispy and awesome. I'm really laid back and not at all picky, but if you mess with my drink and you mess with my burger, I just won't go back. Sorry!

I've only ever had pizza delivery from this place so that's the only thing I can write about. It's really good - much better than the chain pizza places. It's the sauce, it's a little more spicy than a typical pizza sauce (at least a little more spicy for Minnesota, I think it's still within acceptable MN spiciness range) which makes it much better. They've got a good variety of toppings and they do the right amount of toppings on the pizzas. A large pizza is really big and this is the thinner crust kind, cut into squares. It's a bit more expensive for delivery than the big pizza chains but I think it's worth it.

Been doing the breakfast here a couple times a week for the last 8 months until today. This week they changed the breakfast menu and cheapened it up. No more real steak in the omlets. Very disappointed in the change.

Good for fair price. Never order delivery though grub hub forces you to order extra sauce for wings and for kids meal a drink. I got neither it was also a way longer wait than estimated. So go there

HERE AGAIN !! They have perfected the Chicken Quesadilla to satisfy a Swedish mouth. Oh yeah, a chicken/cheese creation with just a hint of fire. A nice side of satisfactory guacamole to compliment the grilled sandwich. If you want authentic, spicy Mexican, don't order this. If you prefer the milder side of the border, order this. Yes, I am a spice wuss. Bite me. M A S P O R V A V O R

would never ever order delivery from this place ever again. not only do they take forever to deliver but by the time the food arrives it's warm and my order has never came correctly. ordered delivery twice. hoping the second time would be different. nope, paid for large soup and got a small. food was almost cold. and the prices are rediculous considering the crappy service for delivery. the hangover hash browns are amazing! no complaints with that but of course when I got them for delivery I asked for an extra egg and not only did they take an hour and a half to come, I didn't get my extra egg that I paid for. disappointing!! but have been to the restaurant itself and it's alright! much better service when you physically go and dine in. bloody bar is awesome as well

The only place worth getting breakfast and bloodies. Make sure to get the omelet with sausage gravy and a bloody mary with Lynn's infused vodka.

Here's the deal....this is the breakfast place of choice in the northern burbs. It;s busy every weekend until probably 3 pm. You will not get any fancy schmancy Sunday brunch here. This is going to be greasy. It's going to be bad for you. You are going to feel bad about yourself. It's going to cure your hangover. But it's exactly what this place is supposed to be. They have decent mimosas and a pretty insane bloody mary bar. Lots of toppings for the salad on top and lots of vodka options. It's not fancy. It's not special but it's the greasy watering hole you need after too much fun the night before.

This review is for the New Ole Piper Inn. They had a nasty fire and had to rebuild. The place is much nicer inside now. The decor changed for the better. The food we had today wasn't bad, but it wont knock your socks off. The beef sandwich plate had plenty of pot roast, mashed taters and gravy. It could use a spoon of veggies. I opted for a side salad - not too shabby. The Hawaiian hamburger the girl got was pleasant . Served with a mountain of fries. Mu wife got a BELT (BLT with a fried egg). Again a mountain of tater tots that could keep Napolean Dynamite going for days. The beer selection has gotten better but they still are not running with the big dogs. Our server was friendly and attentive. A very pleasant visit.

I seriously love this place. My kickball team comes every Sunday night, and the manager here is always so warm, welcoming, helpful, and funny. She even gave me first-aid stuff when she saw my knee was bleeding all over! She's always doing stuff around the bar and restaurant. Awesome bloody mary's. Did their bloody mary tour and got my free t-shirt. Shot tour is next! Weeeeee Food is pretty tasty. Loved this chicken sandwich and the burgers are pretty awesome too.

The entire experience rides right down the middle. You could tell our waitress would rather be anywhere but there serving us and she kept getting our beverages wrong. My friend's brother wanted a Coke. I wanted a Diet Coke with grenadine. First round he got Diet and I got Coke with grenadine. Second round he got his Coke and I just got a plain diet. This is not difficult! She switched us to big glasses the second time. Perhaps to keep from having to come back and refill? Chili cheese tater tots were a cool idea. The tots were nice a crunchy on the outside. It's topped with decent chili and real cheese. Pizzas are also pretty good, but nothing spectacular. It's pretty divey, but I wouldn't be opposed to returning. Wednesday night is karaoke night.

A fine pub and diner atmosphere if that's what you're looking for. The typically over-broad menu, which means they probably aren't fantastic at any one thing but competent at most. We had three different kinds of grub, and nobody had any complaints. Close to the NSC fields if you need a place to eat during a tourament or such that's not quite next to the fields (those restaurants right next to NSC can be awfully busy during the big tournies!).

Awesome Sunday morning Bloody Mary bar and delicious omelets. Great place for family breakfasts!

Best Bloody Mary bar in the entire world. No joke. And the breakfasts are awesome. The breakfast specials are typically quite good and it's nice to get something different to change it up. However, their lunch and dinner is just OK. I definitely think of this as a breakfast/brunch joint, but a great one at that!

I went there with reservations about the place based on their building/ exterior appearance and the food far exceeded my expectations. The wings were big, meaty, not overdone, not over-priced like many of the other places in town (blaine) and the spicy buffalo actually had a good flavor with the kick! I'd go again.

Very low rent type of place if that's what your into. This place is located in a strip mall besides a liquor store, a check cashing store, and a tobacco store. The patrons sit and chain smoke as you try to enter the bar. But, the rude staff offer there own misery. If you read the reviews of other yelpers you can see that the staff at the Piper are quite rude. I only went to the Piper one time, but I can honestly say the staff here treated me with the highest level of disrespect. I have never had such bad service at least without an apology and a refund. However, my own mother likes Piper but says the waitresses are little %@*#&!.' and they need to fire some girls there. We had to order our own beers and we were never asked if we wanted any food. After I finally found the waitress I ordered food and it took so long I started to wonder where it was. As, my boyfriend and I got up to leave the waitress came out with the food but we were actually at the door. I was pissed. My boyfriend being the nice guy he is actually paid for the cold food. Still no apology. So, we took it home. We open the take out boxes and guess what? COLD AND GREASY. He called to complain about the cold food and bad service and all the girl said was I will talk to my staff. No apology. No refund. So, yelpers please be advised and read the other reviews the Ole Piper Inn has rude staff and bad service. If you are looking for good pub food in the 55434 area I suggest Trappers. This place burned down for a reason.

While the menu is typical of this type of location, it has enough variety to enable anyone in a group to find something they like. Nothing stands out, but everything we had was very good. Started with the Spicy Steak Bites, and they were extremely tender. The "heat" level was not what we expected, sort of bland, but the quality of the meat was excellent. Much better than places who charge much more for a similar dish. Had the rib special, full rack, and they were juicy, flavorful, and tender. Coleslaw was tangy and creamy. Potato choice was limited, fries or tots, wish more options were available. My wife had the best meal of the evening, the Hot Beef Sandwich, the homemade gravy was perfect, the mashed potatoes were fresh, with some skin left in, and the beef was plentiful and the bite I grabbed from her plate was so tender! Service was a bit slow, but we went during the middle of the evening dinner rush. Our servers were friendly, and clearly explained our options. This location had a fire a while ago, and the rebuild has updated the feel of the inside, and the menu is better than before. We will be back

This wonderful, fun bar & grill/restaurant was destroyed by fire in early November 2012. Hubby & I are distressed for all the wonderful people who work there & have made our experiences there fun. Fires are never 'convenient' but this one comes at the busiest time of the year for them & the owner who also owns the liquor store in the same strip mall. I spoke with one of the servers when I saw her out & about in the Blaine area. She hopes the plan is to rebuild. The reality is that such an undertaking will most likely take 6 months. We wish every person affected by this fire the best of everything. We look forward to a grand opening whenever it occurs!

I want to love this place.......but they don't want me to. The family and I brought Gram here for mothers day at around 2pm. The meal itself want terrible (it was adequate at best) but the service was unbearable. Our server Krista was having a bad day and wanted everyone to know it. Her greet consisted of "what can i bring you to drink?" Really? Its mothers day and you have 2 obvious mothers at the table......no acknowledgement. My wife ordered an omelet and asked if she could add a couple of items, no response. I ordered a salad and asked what dressings they had. I shit you not, she rolled her eyes at me and responded "french, blue cheese, thousand island....." As if I were stupid and annoying for not knowing which dressing they had. Gram ordered coke, no biggie, until she ordered another and the server set it down and said "pepsi", Gram didnt understand so she said "I actually ordered coke." the server snapped back "its pepsi". Damn....sorry! Just all interactions were very short and curt and it was just very clear that someone had pissed in her wheaties prior to her shift. Uncomfortable.

A hidden gem! Piper consistently puts out quality food at good prices. Wait staff is friendly and the place is full of regulars. Good wings, good taco salad, good nachos (shocking!). I'm typically there for lunch so no comment on the bar. I love that I can get breakfast all the time. They deliver too!

Best to drink here not eat. Had an omelette and pancakes, they were o.k., much better just about everywhere else I can think of. Eggs seemed fake. My wife ordered liver and onions which was sent back and taken off of our bill. Our waitress was great. Great atmosphere, meat raffle was going on...we didn't win :) I agree with a previous reviewer, the Bloody Mary bar is amazing. Again, drink here don't eat here.

Like many, I anxiously awaited the re-opening of the Ole Piper after the fire. I was in there yesterday for the first time since the fire, and I have to say I was underwhelmed. The old bar and restaurant had its quirky charm, albeit the place was in serious need up updating. The fire they had turned out to be a financial gift, as they got the place rebuilt essentially for free. This was their golden opportunity to fix the layout of the place, since the interior had to be gutted. Well...they changed the layout, but it doesn't make sense to me. The bar holds less people than before, and is along the back wall. It is all in a row, and doesn't easily allow for interaction with other people sitting at the bar. The old design was much better. The restaurant is still located in between the bar and the patio. What a stupid oversight. They should have moved the restaurant to the other end of the building, and put the bar and patio together. Who wants to eat a dinner with a bunch of people going to the patio to smoke or drink? The whole seating design was to pack as many tables as possible, and provide no ability for traffic to flow. If you are on the dining room end of the building, good luck getting to the bathrooms on a busy day. There are no aisleways to speak of. The menu did not change one bit, and the dinner menu is still of very mediocre quality. The food I had came with the wrong side dish, and the server missed the condiments. There's just nothing that is really special about this place. They took all the charm out of it, and left it a big open box with a bunch of tables and booths. Also, most of the tables in the bar are low tops. There are only a few 2-seat pub style hightops anywhere to be found. If I am sitting in the bar area, I want to sit at a bar style table, not a dinner table. There are too many other bars in Blaine that have better food, better layout, and better atmosphere. Assuming they still have good breakfasts, this is where the Piper was always a good option. Other than breakfast, I will pass.

This place is a dive bar and greasy spoon that is a time capsule from the 80's. That's not necessarily a bad thing. The servers and bartenders in the bar are great (especially Rachel). Happy hour is good. It runs until 7pm. The food quality is hit and miss. Breakfast...very good. Burgers....decent. Wings...decent. Pizza...made me sick, as it was undercooked. Rib special I had the other night....ok, but ribs had no flavor and were very over cooked. It's worth a try. They deliver a full dinner menu, so that's a good option if you don't want to go out.

We stopped in tonight for dinner and a beer. I had the Desert Heat Burger. It wasn't too spicy to me, someone who loves spicy! However it was great and it also had a really thick slice of tomato on it. My boyfriend had the Piper burger; adding fried onions, waffle fries and the sour cream dip. I recommend the crispy, tasty waffle fries as I snatched several of his rather than eating my regular fries. I was told the Piper burger was pretty good. They forgot the fried onions, but once reminded they promptly brought out a side. And by side, I mean they brought out what seemed to be half an onion!! The service was great; polite and attentive. We thought one of the tap beers tasted off. The manager was very accommodating by switching it out for a bottled beer instead. Looking forward to going back for both the good food and good service!

This place has darts. AND a jukebox. AND a Bloody Mary bar. If you have read any of my other reviews, you know that that's all it takes to make me happy. The food is great quality and inexpensive. The service has generally been good, with a few (very few, considering how often we frequent this place) notable exceptions. Two funny things I love about the place: 1. Almost without fail, the boy's steak Caesar salad is set in front of me while he gets my rodeo burger with waffle fries. This happens at just about every restaurant we go to where I order the "manly" meal however, so it's not really isolated to the Piper. 2. Our server, the energetic blonde also working behind the bar always gets flustered and upset on the few occasions where I have paid, or we split the check. She called the boy out on it once, "This just feels so wrong. I feel wrong letting her pay for you. Why won't you pay for your girlfriend?!" Picture a soft-spoken, but indignant voice. She really is a sweet heart. Any Saturday morning when nothing is going on, head over. You will probably find me and the boy in first booth by the window, sipping Bloody Mary's and probably playing pull tabs much to my shame. There is a meat raffle in the early afternoon where the boy and I have won some pretty good filet mignon and T-bone (this review is getting more and more suburban Minnesotan: I'm gonna quit now before I decide to head home and put a pot roast in the oven).

We will not be returning for the lack of service & lack of apology.

would never ever order delivery from this place ever again. not only do they take forever to deliver but by the time the food arrives it's warm and my order has never came correctly. ordered delivery twice. hoping the second time would be different. nope, paid for large soup and got a small. food was almost cold. and the prices are rediculous considering the crappy service for delivery. the hangover hash browns are amazing! no complaints with that but of course when I got them for delivery I asked for an extra egg and not only did they take an hour and a half to come, I didn't get my extra egg that I paid for. disappointing!! but have been to the restaurant itself and it's alright! much better service when you physically go and dine in. bloody bar is awesome as well
