This is by far, my favorite Chinese food place in the area. Never had a bad carry out, or dine in experience. Love their orange chicken. My kids will even eat their sweet and sour chicken and when my youngest decides to bring his mcdonalds in, they don't bat and eye and even give him a plate and crackers!

This restaurant is great. I've enjoyed every meal I've gotten from here. The sauces are thick & flavorful, the eggrolls are very fresh (and they aren't rubbery compared to others), and the rice isn't ever over cooked or sticky. The portions are big and the price is pretty standard. The staff is also very kind. I use to order carry-out until I got to take a look around the place and decided to dine in. Good experience every time.

As a Chinese-American, this is the best authentic chinese in Metro D. Still below par when compared to places like Chinatown in Chicago, but like I said, best in Metro D.

I've orders here for the last year now (old owners weren't good) and they're very consistent. Good spices, meats, and veggies. They don't skimp on the sauces either. I always see the place full and it's an average wait of 20 minutes for take out so plan ahead of your thinking it will be a fast meal.

There are closer Chinese restaurants to me than Wing Wahs; but I'll be passing them up to return to this one. The pan seared dumplings were delicious.

In a rundown strip mall and next to the ace hardware store, I would have never came to this restaurant if it wasn't for yelp. But, I am so glad I did. I can't speak to the American Chinese food. I don't know if it is any good. But the more authentic Cantonese fair is very good. This is the deal. There are 2 menus. The Chinese menu is also in English, but it has some more original dishes like Shrimp Wonton Noodle Soup, Beef Chow Fun, Honey Walnut Shrimp, Fish Stir Frys etc. They have specials for like 2 dishes for like 24 dollars, etc. This menu is much more expensive than the other menu- purely because of quality. For lunch, we had the Honey Walnut Shrimp and Beef with Chinese Greens Pan Fried Noodles. Wow, it was so good. Plus, they gave us a pork bone soup and oranges for dessert. It's exactly like my family's cooking. If you are non-Asian, they will only give you the American menu and the hot and sour soup, but ask nicely and this meal will amaze you.

I'm thinking this place changed owners a while back and since, the food is pretty lackluster. We used to frequent this place quite a bit, but since the change we've gone here twice in six months and probably won't be back again. The food has almost no flavor and the stuff that does have flavor just flat out isn't good. Not to mention when you order pop you get a can of pop. That's pretty low class if you ask me.

My husband and I judge a Chinese restaurant, when eating there for the first time, based on how well the simple dishes are. Because, if a simple dish is amazing, we figure they really care about their product. Simple dishes in this case being: almond boneless chicken and general tso's chicken. We were absolutely unsatisfied with the food we got for take out. The almond boneless was very bland and the chicken was dry and stringy. My husband also stated it tasted like it was fried in old oil. My general tso's was not on par to me. The sauce didn't have that characteristic sweetness that I've had at other restaurants. It really didn't taste like much at all. The egg rolls were pretty good, those were actually seasoned great. The crab rangoon was good, but, a lil on the small side (compared to other restaurants that is). The egg rolls and crab rangoon are the only reason I'm even giving this place two stars. I honestly don't think we'll go there again.

In a pinch this place is better than most but not my favorite. This place is my 2nd choice when my place is closed and I have a craving for American style Chinese food. I like this place because they let you do dual combos so this time I opted for Almond Chicken & Kung Pao Shrimp. Both were okay, smallish portions on the almond chicken side, not even a half order, looked more like a quarter of the Almond Chicken combination I ordered last time. There was more to the Kung Pao shrimp, mostly veggies and 5 decent sized shrimp. I also ordered a side of crab rangoon which by far was the star of my meal. I have never been disappointed by these but they don't carry out well. They are much better fresh and crispy and hot at your table. I asked them to make the Kung Pao shrimp mild to medium spicy because their mild seems bland and the medium is too spicy for me. I was told the medium wasn't that spicy so I guess she gave me that which, for the record, was too spicy for me. Also, the Kung Pao didn't have peanuts which I've become accustomed to at other places. A bit disappointing since they do put peanuts in their other Kung Pao dishes. The Almond Chicken was over breaded and undercooked, the breading was wet and heavy. This place is good if you can eat a huge portion, however, if you're like me and like to heat up the leftovers this place sort of sucks. They use way too much corn starch in their gravy, plum sauce and egg drop soup. It will be solid in your fridge in a half hour and the strongest of microwaves can't undo it's new solid form. In a word, inedible. In two, inedible and disgusting. Lastly, the egg rolls are bland. I love egg rolls and these look like they have all the right ingredients but the taste is.... underwhelming. The plum sauce saves them but they're just okay.

We ordered spicy salt squid, spicy salt pork chops, yangchow fried rice and lo mein. We liked the pork chops but we loved the squid. The yang chow was so-so. The lo.mein was ok. They gave us bone soup to star with but i didnt like it because it tasted bland, and it didn't improve even when i added soy sauce. This is my 2nd time here. We come here if we can't go to my other go-to chinese place.

This is probably the best authentic Chinese in Metro Detroit, especially on the east side. I have been here probably 6+ times in the past two months, and I have yet to be disappointed. We have tried their eggrolls, fried tofu with shrimp paste, garlic ribs, pan fried noodles, fried squid, corn fish, grouper hot pot, choy sum vegtables, char siu (better than the bbq store), walnut shrimp, beef brisket hot pot, beef chow fun to name a few. Everything has been fabulous. The service is a little sketchy at time, but nothing my husband's chinese can't fix. The cost is also reasonable, we always walk out with a bunch of leftovers. They have a special menu where you can order 2 dishes for 22 or 4 dishes for 44 (approximately). Their only downfall is that they don't serve dim sum, but hopefully if business is consistently good, they may be able to add this service!

Not the greatest, but probably the better of the Chinese food options within a five mile radius from my house. It does the job in a pinch when I have that urge to devour some MSG goodness. So far I have had the Chicken Lo Mein which was decent, Beef with Pea Pods and Mushrooms which didn't have many Pea Pods as they are apparently hard to get right now and Dumplings which were a bit on the chewy side. All orders have been via carry-out so I cannot rate them on service. The only negative thing I can say that falls in that realm is that one of the owners young daughters (maybe 10 years old) hangs out there and can be rather loud and obnoxious. While waiting for my order to be finished she would not stop whining about doing her homework and was repeatedly screaming for her Mom over and over again. I was the only one in there as it was late, but her Mom should have told her to quiet down or taken her in the back if she wasn't going to stop rather than letting her continue to throw a tantrum in front of paying customers. If I had been dining in I probably would have said something, but as I was just waiting on my carry-out I simply went back to messing around with my phone trying to block her out.

I saw this place had good reviews on yelp so I went and ordered carry out. I bought their orange chicken plate and when I got home to open my container, the sauce was running out. They put too much of it that my chicken was drowning. And the orange sauce? I couldn't even finish it because it tasted like cheap ketchup. I will never go here again. I was highly disappointed.

The only thing thats good here is the crab ragoon, and i would come here every wednesday because they would have a wednesday special on it (which they dont do anymore). The fried rice tastes like it is microwaved (Not good at all). If you plan on going here, i would only order the crab ragoon. Also, one of the workers daughters is here almost every day after school hours and is not respectful. She will run around and scream which makes my dinning in experience awful. Waitress is also very rude.

The food has dramatically IMPROVED since we last ate here a couple of years ago. I can't say anything about the table service because we ordered takeout, but the young girl who answered the phone and took our order was friendly and knowledgeable. I'm so glad we gave them another try; we will be ordering from them again!

We decided to try someplace different. friendly people... needs more help. It was pretty busy for one server. Ordered take out. Family agrees... its decent. Noodles and rice were a bit on the dry side. Generous combo portions too. I'd probably give them a second chance. :-)

I read the reviews and start off with a simple dish like General Tao's and brown rice medium spicy. It came without spice and a bit over cooked on the chicken; however, it was tasty. I wished they had a lunch combo with schezwan chicken. (Hint hint). I will go back and try another dish

This place is a hidden gem in Warren located in a small strip mall. The food is as delicious& authentic as it looks. They have both English & Chinese menu's. Service is good & timely & the food dishes just kept flowing toward our table. What a scrumptious meal! This is a nice family restaurant & I would highly recommend it.

Edible but not enjoyable. Sub par ingredients and cooking. The egg rolls were decent but they wanted 35 cents extra for hot mustard. After spending $30, asking for that really showed their mentality.

Good service though the server seemed a little impatient. Serving size for lunch combo's is very generous. Cost is reasonable. I've eaten here several times. I usually have the Almond Boneless Chicken which is a nice crispy battered chicken breast (cut into pieces) over lettuce with rice. I also had the Egg Drop soup - VERY good - and the Hot and Sour Soup (can be spicy but is tasty). I also like the decor which has a lovely blue lighted ceiling and a few typical 'Chinese' ornaments. I mention this because it's a 'store-front' restaurant situated in a strip mall next to a hardware store so it's a bit easy to miss. Definitely look for it if you want a tasty Chinese style lunch.

I scheduled a party of 12 here for Chinese New Year. Service was friendly. For those wanting something a bit different than the standard American Chinese restaurant fare, they have an extensive additional Chinese menu (Relax, it's also written in English). The food was excellent. It was steaming hot and fresh. I wish I didn't live over an hour away because I would be eating here often.

My boyfriend and I went here based on the yelp reviews, and loved it! We both ordered a combo plate, so that we could sample multiple dishes. There was so much food, we had to take half of it home. It was delicious, and the service was excellent, I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants some good Chinese food.

i personally don't like chinese food, but with very little options late at night we ended up there after reading the two yelp reviews, and have since went back! the first time we ate here we made it just before closing and had to order takeout. i got the vegetable fried rice, which was excellent, some of the best rice I've had from a chinese restaurant. my boyfriend got the vegetable lo mein, which was light rather than heavy, with just a touch of soy sauce. it was very good, even in my opinion when i dont really like lo mein. it had plentiful large pieces of broccoli and mushrooms.none of the food was overly greasy or heavy and all of the ingredients were fresh. the spring rolls were nothing special, but the crab ragoons were so amazing that my boyfriend, who doesn't like cream cheese really likes these because there are sizable chunks of crab and green onion in it, it's not just a creamy mess of blended cream cheese and crab. they are literally the best crab ragoons i have ever had! the second time we went we were able to go in and sit down. we were the only ones there so, as the other reviews have said, we were tended to promptly and often. i never once had to ask for a drink refill. my boyfriend described his won ton soup as clean and had a unique tasting broth and nice tight small wontons rather than just a single large one dropped in chicken broth. my bean curd soup was not thick as i expected but rather a thin and very delicious with plenty of veggies and tofu. there was a slight language barrier when i inquired what a wood ear was (which was listed in the garlic sauced shrimp dish i ordered) but they spoke among each other until they were able to tell me it was a chinese mushroom but they didn't use it any more. the garlic shrimp dish was good but i ordered it spicy and found it fairly mild. my boyfriend had this same complaint about his general tso chicken. both of us agreed, however, it was as spicy as one should have expected of chinese food and it was good regardless. we also split the shrimp fried rice, which was essentially only shrimp and rice, so in my opinion not as good as the vegetable fried rice. the prices were great and i also also enjoyed how the menu was split up by ethnicity. it is presently the best chinese food i have ever had. the crab ragoons alone are worth yet another visit! Update: 7-8-2013 I moved out of the detroit area, and i cannot find chinese food as good in the grand rapids area. I can find nice vietnamese places here but no chinese food places that are as fresh, as cheap, and as good as wing wah!

Don't be fooled by the somewhat run down lookin' strip mall that Wing Wah is in, this place is serving up some top notch food with ridiculously low prices (especially if you make it in time for the lunch special from 1pm - 4pm, I believe). Lunch specials include soup, your entree, a generous serving of fried rice, and an egg roll - usually for less than $6! They serve up all types of different Asian cuisine here including Cantonese, Mandarin, Szechuan, and Chinese. Not all inclusive, but what can you expect? With hardly anyone else in the restaurant, service was nothing short of stellar. Obviously we were seated immediately, the waitress refilled our waters several times without even having to ask, she checked on our table frequently, and the food was brought out reasonably fast - but not so fast that you would think it was made ahead of time. The Szechuan Chicken I had was practically perfect. Juicy chunks of chicken, lots of good vegetables (although a little heavy on celery for my taste), and a sauce that was hot but it didn't seem like it would be overbearing for those who aren't accustomed to spicier foods. My only complaint about this place is that they must have the heat lamps hooked up to the fires of Hell. Both my food and my friend's food didn't seem to cool down one bit while we were lunching, and that's not just because we inhaled the stuff either. I burnt the roof of my mouth on the egg drop soup, and then I burnt my tongue on the chicken. Granted, the second time can strictly be blamed on me... but I was almost 3/4 of the way done with the meal! Portions at this place are beyond plentiful. I didn't even touch my fried rice (sorry, I'm a strictly "brown rice only" kind of guy) and I was stuffed to the point of feeling uncomfortable when I finished with the rest of my food. A great place to get something to eat and then have wonderful leftovers for later. Wing Wah has a ridiculously funny name that I can't help but feel like a complete moron whenever I say it (and maybe I'm saying it incorrectly, but I doubt it... just like it looks, right?), but this is definitely some Asian cuisine that goes above the typical call of duty at a bargain that I think is hard to beat. It is/was Warren's secret and now I'm Yelping it for y'all to check it out...

We decided to try someplace different. friendly people... needs more help. It was pretty busy for one server. Ordered take out. Family agrees... its decent. Noodles and rice were a bit on the dry side. Generous combo portions too. I'd probably give them a second chance. :-)

This Chinese restaurant has some of the best food I have ever had. The beef chop suey, cashew shrimp,Mongolian chicken, egg rolls and wonton soup and I'm sure everything else they serve there is fantastic too.

Great food, clean place and some of the biggest spring rolls I've seen makes a great spot for lunch or dinner if you get hit with the Chinese craving.

i personally don't like chinese food, but with very little options late at night we ended up there after reading the two yelp reviews, and have since went back! the first time we ate here we made it just before closing and had to order takeout. i got the vegetable fried rice, which was excellent, some of the best rice I've had from a chinese restaurant. my boyfriend got the vegetable lo mein, which was light rather than heavy, with just a touch of soy sauce. it was very good, even in my opinion when i dont really like lo mein. it had plentiful large pieces of broccoli and mushrooms.none of the food was overly greasy or heavy and all of the ingredients were fresh. the spring rolls were nothing special, but the crab ragoons were so amazing that my boyfriend, who doesn't like cream cheese really likes these because there are sizable chunks of crab and green onion in it, it's not just a creamy mess of blended cream cheese and crab. they are literally the best crab ragoons i have ever had! the second time we went we were able to go in and sit down. we were the only ones there so, as the other reviews have said, we were tended to promptly and often. i never once had to ask for a drink refill. my boyfriend described his won ton soup as clean and had a unique tasting broth and nice tight small wontons rather than just a single large one dropped in chicken broth. my bean curd soup was not thick as i expected but rather a thin and very delicious with plenty of veggies and tofu. there was a slight language barrier when i inquired what a wood ear was (which was listed in the garlic sauced shrimp dish i ordered) but they spoke among each other until they were able to tell me it was a chinese mushroom but they didn't use it any more. the garlic shrimp dish was good but i ordered it spicy and found it fairly mild. my boyfriend had this same complaint about his general tso chicken. both of us agreed, however, it was as spicy as one should have expected of chinese food and it was good regardless. we also split the shrimp fried rice, which was essentially only shrimp and rice, so in my opinion not as good as the vegetable fried rice. the prices were great and i also also enjoyed how the menu was split up by ethnicity. it is presently the best chinese food i have ever had. the crab ragoons alone are worth yet another visit! Update: 7-8-2013 I moved out of the detroit area, and i cannot find chinese food as good in the grand rapids area. I can find nice vietnamese places here but no chinese food places that are as fresh, as cheap, and as good as wing wah!

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
