Loose meat coney and chili fries. Throw in a cold beer and you've got nothing to complain about. Well maybe the floor... it always seems dirty.

I have been comming here for years. They are my comfort food. Chili fries are the bomb, and meatless. Not that you could ever tell, but this is a big plus if you can't handle beef without feeling sick.

It's a coney...not much to say I guess. Do you like cold food?! Yummy hotdogs, and fast service? This is the place. I ordered a Greek salad and literally in 3 minutes the salad was on my table with a hot piece of pita bread. I guess I can't really complain. But that clearly means a lot of their food is premade and suffers in the fresh department. Recently I ordered a vegatarian omelet as take out and when I went back to work, I found sausage inside of it. Lets be clear here...I ordered a vegatarian omelet, with eggbeaters, cooked dry, and dry hashbrowns, and no butter on my toast. Wouldn't sausage seem like an odd addition to an order like this? That is of course what I thought...but then I thought about it more. We are in Warren, and this coney is right next to the police station. So i'm sure they have seen and had unusal orders. I probably would go back to fulfill my cravings of quick Greek salads, and the their veggie pita is pretty good since it is packed with cheese! Also the breakfast prices are amazing! $5 for an omelet, toast, and hasbrowns, no compliants in that department. At this location there is a bar attached. I am pretty sure it is called Jimmy's and it also seems to be bumping on their "slider" night. Stop by for some quick and easy food.

Bad for a Coney Island. Now I have been here before once and the food was you know Coney Island food but the last couple of times I have been here, bad service. Our waitress was very nice but took forever to get our drinks after we ordered them. Then she came back (timed) 20 minutes later after bringing our drinks (there was me and 2 other people). After getting our order and taking it our food came fairly fast, thank god. Once eating my hani I realized the chicken was almost burnt, like deep friend too long. Meh, whatever that's what you get for a cheap restaurant food. It took another 30minutes to get our bill and after that we left. We left a decent tip cause she was nice but clearly wasn't deserved.

I had the fish and chips it was pretty good. I didn't feel it was a clean Restaurant at all ,, tables had food all over them and dirty stuff all over the floors... but at least the food was decent enough to say"good" I did not like their soup tomato tortellini something like that,,, don't remember what it was called but it had absolutely no flavor whatsoever ,,you definitely need to improve on your soups... Got it to go and they forgot ketchup condiments, but I do have to say the first time I ate there was not good at all the fries were cold and a sandwich bread was very stale,, but my boyfriend wouldnt let me return it,,

This location follows a close second to the Gratiot-696 location because this one is attached to a bar. It is like a divine gift or something, wht could be better!? The food is like every other National in the area, but this place just has pizazz. This spot has great service and the people watching available here kept me for hours. Can't say whether they have wifi (I know a lot of Nationals do not), but I give it an A+ overall and would rather stop here than any other in the area.

The wife and I get carry out from here once in a blue moon, its your standard National Coney island. Coney's, Hannis, Chili fries etc. I do miss that scoop of Cole slaw and pickle they would give you with your Hanni ( oh the good old days ) I admit their chili is probably the best around but the prices are getting up there and the presentation of the meals are kinda of sloppy, now maybe that's because I usually get carry out but still when you open the carry out box and your sandwich is upside down and half the chicken is under the sandwich and not in it, well...you know what I mean? though I do venture other Coney island places Ill probably still stop by National Coney island, but I do have a small wish list of changes for this Coney chain.

I am a big fan of National Coney Island and I think of the whole chain this spot is the worst. I think the food does not have any flavor and the location is not very clean. Take a look at the baseboards and floor-very dirty.

Can you say, Chicken Hani? Oh yeah!!!! One thing I so wish I could still eat here...is there amazing chili & cheese fries!!! Drive thru makes it easy for a fast carry out. Great place to eat in a time crunch. Chicken sandwich is also very good. Greek salad, yummy!!!

I love this place since most locations are open 24/7 and it is good to stop at after a night out or after a long/late flight. I always get the chicken Hani with chili cheese fries, but their blueberry pancakes are also very good.

We ate here recently and were very disappointed. It was a Wed evening around 8 pm, so not a busy traffic night. Although the service was great, the place was filthy. Floors had visible food everywhere and all the tables had either trash or food residue left on the tabletop. Hostess told us to sit anywhere, and we couldn't find a clean table, but my husband sat down in booth and proceeded to sit in something wet. YUCK! We asked waitress to wipe down another booth so we could move and she wiped the seat of ours (who knows what the wet spot was!!) and then wipe a table top at another booth so we could move there. OMG! How disgusting. I pulled out a travel pack of Chlorox Wipes to wipe the seats & table before we could eat. Bathrooms were equally dirty. Food was hot and decent, but I would choose a different location next time. Hope the manager reads these reviews. There's really no excuse for a filthy diner.

I definitely give this a 4 in comparison to other diners. I love coneys. This place has great coneys and fast service. The chili is the best!

There are plenty of coney islands to choose from in the metro Detroit area. I think this happens to be one of the best. First of all, the restaurant itself is huge and you'll never have to wait for a table -- even during busy lunch and dinner hours. The food is great and there are even things on the menu that you don't find at many coney islands like several different salad options. The chili cheese fries and coneys are awesome, of course. Their homemade desserts were good, too. My cousin and I went there last week and each ordered a slice of Oreo pie with a scoop of cookies 'n cream ice cream. Wow -- that was a great combination! Very reasonable prices! Their breakfast options were very cheap and tasty. $3.99 for a breakfast special that included bacon, eggs, hashbrowns and toast. That's cheaper than you'll find at a fast food joint! Can't beat the price! Excellent customer service. Waitstaff was very attentive, refilled our drinks several times, and even made small talk. Whenever I am working in Warren, I'll make sure to visit.

You know, I really used to like this place. My most recent experience was dreadful. Firstly, the hostess at the door POINTED to a spot on the other of the restaurant and said "sit over there".....our waitress had a shirt on that looked like her baby had thrown up all over it and she looked like someone who might be doubling as a gas station attendant. The food - used to be awesome. Now - not so much. Cold coneys, cold fries, the chili tasted weird.....what happened? Sorry, unfortunately this place has gone right down the crapper. Hopefully we can get better the next time, which might not be for a long while. I might suggest trying Kerby's....cleaner, fresher, and just plain better at this point in time.

Quick and easy. Stopped by for breakfast and was out in less then 30. Food was typically for a Coney Island, good omelet, but the service was outstanding. Would definitely eat here again

I was in the Detroit area over the weekend for a wedding. Good wedding, good times, but to be perfectly honest, I have absolutely no reason to ever head back to Detroit or its surrounding neighborhoods. No offense to those of you who call it home, but Detroit kinda sucks ass. However, I do realize that this means I will have to miss one of the best things ever. A $2.59 Coney Dog with bacon and cheese at 2am after a good night of drinking. That just hit the spot. My god, that was awesome. It's a damn shame, because at this very moment, I'd love to have another one of those succulent little hot dogs with the steamed chili, onions, mustard, bacon, and melty melty cheese overflowing in that little warm bun. But alas, unless I end up with a layover flight that stops into the Detorit Metro airport, I may never have one of those precious 'dogs again. Woe is me.

It's decided. A late dinner tonight lead me to the conclusion that Leo's is superior in the coney island battle. Food was okay. Just kind of meh. We did have great service though. Always nice.

National Coney Island is "the" chain of all night diners that cater to those looking for a late night greasy spoon fix or something to absorb all the beer at 2:30 am. There have been many late summer nights where friends and I frequent this restaurant because nothing else is open. The prices can't be beat! You can eat like a king for less than $7. That's including a drink! Many people crave the chili-cheese fries! It becomes one of those things where you just want them! Of course they also serve the side salads, hot dogs, hamburgers, and all the other type of food you'd might expect from a Coney Island restaurant. The dining room in this particular Coney is HUGE. Its like they designed it with the intention of large groups showing up -- which they do.

Chili cheese fries were terrible; container was half empty. Burger was soggy. Experience was just horrible and overpriced. The Coney Islands IN THE CITY of Detroit are much better. The suburb experience sucks.

I've visited National Coney Island on several trips to the nearby GM center. It's a serviceable place for lunch and I can see the "local charm." Service is only average though and the food leaves something to be desired. If you go skip the coneys for a sandwich or gyro. Also, watch out for the barely separate smoking section. :-/

My current pick for best coney in The D, though I unfortunately must admit that I have not yet made it to Lafayette or American. That will be remedied soon, but for the time being National is king. Oh right - and if you aren't aware of Coney Islands and their relationship to Michigan in general and Detroit in particular, then you need to get yourself over to one and taste some local flavor. Not tough to do - National's open 24/7.

After living out of state for 3 yrs, this is just about the only thing I missed about Michigan !! Their hani's are the best! Nothing like it. Cheap but delicious food and fast service!

I'm not from Detroit, but I've heard that coney dogs are a favorite of the locals. My experience with coney dogs has been through Sonic in Nashville, TN. I was expecting an out-of-this-world coney dog when visiting Detroit, and National Coney Island had the highest reviews. The coney dog I had was mediocre and nothing special. I'll stick with Sonic from now on.

Of all the things I miss about Michigan, National Coney Island is by far number 1. What isn't great about this drunk man's haven. The perfect after the bar food, hungover morning food, or just a quick lunch or dinner. Don't come here expecting award winning food, come here with the expectation of good food that isn't good for you. My favorite is the Hani Special, an amazing blend of fried chicken, tomatoes, lettuce, and cheddar and swiss cheese. Get it with ranch on the side and why stop there make sure to get that little piece of heaven that is their cheese fries, and if you're extra adventurous get the chili cheese fries. The chili dog is also a fan favorite here. The service is always quick and efficient and after the bar it seems to be everyone's favorite place to keep the party going. If you haven't been here yet, what are you waiting for.
