Good fun adventure. It was a surprise present for my bf and a few friends surprised us and showed up as well. The rooms were great and so was jerry! Breakfast was really good and we felt very welcoming. The hot tub in the room was very worth the extra money. It was a hop skip and a jump from the vineyards tasting locations and just down the street from journeyman and the casino. Thanks for making our stay wonderful! We will come back in the summer.
Anniversary get-away weekend. Garden Grove helped us book massages, dining, wineries, and more. Much better than staying at a busy hotel or motel. Located close to everything but at the end of the day far enough away to enjoy some peace and quiet. Close to marina to charter a yacht, close to dining at famous Tabor Hill, and about 10 minutes from the casino for the rainey days. Owners are amazingly friendly. I earned some major brownie points bringing my wife here!
The lavender room is fabulous. Great interior design, modern and very clean. The food was fantastic, fresh fruit and home made pancakes severed in the room. This is one of the best B&Bs in the U.S. or abroad.

Milda's is a must stop. Meet Grover Cleveland! Great Deli & Gourmet Delights. Limped in parched & hungry - left full and happy!
Loved Milda's! Her baked goods are fantastic, particularly the yummy bacon buns. So good. The coffee is also good, and there is a great selection of grocery items, snacks, and cold drinks. She had a bunch of nifty Lithuanian specialty items too.
I love Milda's!! It is a great place to get lunch - soups are always delicious (love the mushroom bisque), sandwiches are big, and they have many tasty treats from around the world. My favorites here are lithuanian beet soup (altibariai), bacon buns, and wild mushroom spread. The owners are very friendly.

Pine Garth Bed & Breakfast

Reviews:
Pine Garth had wonderful accommodations and beautiful rooms and grounds. The hostess was very helpful and even offered to open another bottle of wine after we missed cocktail hour due to our late check in. The only downside about our visit was that breakfast was similar to a Super8 continental breakfast instead of a bed and breakfast home cooked meal.

Ok, I've had a great breakfast here before, but they go out of their way to make me dislike them. Where do I start.... First the service is HORRIBLE like really bad. You look around and there may only be 2 or 3 other tables seated, but no matter their staff just doesn't care to treat customers well. The wait after order is loooonnnngggg. On my last, and final, attempt to give them redemption I ordered a fresh fruit plate with my French toast. I got literally 3 grapes, 2 strawberries, and a 1/4 banana.... For a cost of 5.99!!!!! WTF?? After I complained the manager response was that's what it is. Fair enough, but now I'm done and I caution you in advance.
Had a terrible experience here for breakfast. We waited so long for the food. A gentleman came in after us and got served before us. I had a breakfast sandwich which was ok but my daughter had the huervos rancheros for $8.99 and it was horrible. Just a slop of two runny eggs. When she then asked for some toast it took so long to get, that she couldn't even eat it. The chef doesn't care how long he makes you wait. Will never return. I don't know how it stays open.
It can be really hit or miss here. The food is good. Time to get served can be extremely long, like 30 minutes for two sandwiches and some soup - even when there are only two other tables. Or it can be really quick. It's kind of a coin-toss what you will get. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting. You do feel like you can linger. It's nice that it is not a chain restaurant, so the food is of higher quality than the chains.

Dropped into the Casual Chef Cafe during a slow period on Sunday morning. The server took forever to get to us, and we noticed another table getting pretty fed up with the wait. They ran out of the ingredients for the bagel and lox, which was one of the few decent looking things on the menu. The server looked a little flustered and mumbled something about "it's hot in the kitchen." Huh? Why wouldn't a kitchen be hot? A minute later, we heard an angry short order cook cursing up a storm. So it was temperament hot, not necessarily temperature hot. The waffles were decent with whipped cream and strawberries on top and the apple sausage was pretty tasty. Saw that the pancakes were thin, tiny, and burnt - glad we didn't go with those. The eggs and toast were pretty pitiful - you could do a better job at home on this dish with a massive hangover.
they did not want to serve us, I suspect racism was the reason, read the micheal j review on this page, we went together. Amazing thing that Michael forgot is that the hostess offered to suggest another location where we could go...farther away. That convinced me that it had to do with the color of our skin & not the content of our character
What an experience! I should of read the reviews before going in this place! We were looking for a place on red arrow highway for breakfast on Labor day morning, saw a sign in the cafes window "serving breakfast" Great!!First walking in we were totally ignored felt like we were invisible, finally I asked a young waiter if we could sit any where, he said yes. We noticed two large tables had a "reserved"card on the tables. (Never got used). We sat, about 10 minutes later we got coffee, ten more minutes later the young boy took our order. 15 minutes later he came back and told us they were out of bacon! Finally he served the eggs, and barely toasted toast, we never received the potatoes or fruit bowl! After we ate the eggs we told him to forget the fruit and potatoes. Oh pancakes came after we ate the eggs! As we finished a family came in mom, dad, grandma and three children, figuring out where to sit because the two large tables had reserved signs on them, they were told sit any where, then minutes later they were told they couldn't be served, they had two many people in their party!! Our mouths dropped open and all we could do was laugh! Don't know how this place stays in business! The one star is for the poor kid who had to do all the dirty work for the useless cook in the kitchen! Never again!!!

Gordon Beach Inn

Reviews:
This place is not too great. I paid $120 for a room with a "patio shared with Timothy's restaurant." (the restaurant in the inn) I checked into my room and opened the door to the patio. The door hit a chair from one of the restaurant tables...so it was more like "You have a door with a window that allows you to stare at people while they eat dinner, and you can open the door and scare the crap out of them if you so choose." Not exactly honest advertising, if you ask me. Fortunately, I was in town for a wedding and was out of my room except to sleep, so it wasn't an issue...but other people who book this room (Room #1) may be let down. The rumors about the small TV are true...but who stays in a hotel to watch TV? I was able to drunkenly watch That 70s Show one night and Sportscenter the next night before passing out with no issues. The $120 sounds like a ripoff for what you get, but some friends stayed at the Fairfield Inn and paid $130. If you know the Fairfield Inn, you know that rooms there generally don't cost $130. This was during the summer so I have to assume that everything in the area is overpriced. However, based off what they told me, the Fairfield Inn provided better accommodations. After showering and drying off with a white towel, I noticed the next day that they replaced the used towels with green ones. Little details like that leave this place lacking. The Gordon Beach Inn is quaint and whatever, but it's not exactly comfortable. If you want to feel old timey, go for it. Otherwise, I'd hit up a national chain in the area.
Do not stay here. We had a room...WITH NO WINDOW! It is out dated and grungy. There is no temp control in the room, it was super hot. There was no inn keeper so we had to pick up and drop off keys at the sister cottage down the road. There was a TV, a tiny nine inch TV. In a room that charges $130 a night OFF SEASON! I picked this room because they advertise a two person jacuzzi tub. It is a large crusty two person tub. To quote my boyfriend "There is no way I'm sitting bare assed in that thing!" That pretty much sums it up. DO not stay here. I wouldn't call it a dump if they didn't overcharge me, but I got JACKED! so dump it is.
I was worried about staying here based on the reviews, but during the summer, this was the only place available in the area, so we took a chance. We were pleasantly surprised. 3.5 stars might be more appropriate, but given the context of the area and the type of place it is, I'm rating up. First, it is not for people who prefer chains that are new and "cookie'cutter". The Gordon Beach Inn is nearly 100 years old, with wood floors and the original faucets, doors, etc., which I like - I don't mind a patina on the brass; too me that is preferable to new chrome. There are beautiful art deco-style stencils in the halls and in the rooms. The room and linens were very clean, with big old windows that actiually opened, althought the air conditioning worked fine too. Only 3 blocks from a beautiful beach. The front desk people were attentive and friendly. There's a beautiful great room and porches you can sit in; the rooms are smallish. And it's nice to have Timothy's, a high-end restaurant, right in the same building. The only con for me was the shower went super scalding hot suddenly, but that is probably due to an old plumbing system. Otherwise, Gordon Inn was satisfactory in terms of comfort, and really charming in terms of decor with lots of authentic wood, copper front desk, and odd little nooks, but not overdone with too much Victorain excess.
