Burgers are always fresh and I love the fries. It's a little pricey for lunch. You order at the counter and they bring you your food. Great alternative for fast food and way better than bk or McDonald's. I am tempted to give it five stars

The smash burgers were winners and that will bring us back. The decor cool too. Service could if been better but it happens. Definitely better than 5 guys.

Today I tried Smashburger and I liked it! The service was just SOSO though. The redheaded chica spent a few mins trying to turn on the menu screen with a remote before she even noticed me standing there. I ordered the Baja Burger minus jalapenos, the smash fries or whatever the heck they are called, and a nutterbutter shake. There wasn't a thing I would change about the taste of the food. The redhead made my shake, and it was about an inch from the top. Being an ornery customer on my way to work, I of course said something about it and her reply was, "That's how it is supposed to be." So next time I go, if the service is better then I'll give them 4 stars.

Stopped by this place for lunch. It's basically an upscale fast food place. Think Five Guys with better decor. I had the avocado club burger -- avocado, bacon, lettuce, tomato, ranch dressing and mayo on a multi-grain bun. It was very good. The burger was juicy and had a good portion of toppings. The fries were also very good -- they're the skinny, crispy type that I prefer. I also read reviews claiming that this place has an "iced tea bar." I guess I was expecting, I dunno, something more magical than two dispensers of iced tea. Is mango green tea a nice alternative to regular black tea? Yep. Does having a second choice make it an "iced tea bar"? In my humble opinion, no. My only gripe is, at the time I went, (2pm-ish on a Thursday afternoon) there were a WHOLE bunch of tables that needed to be bussed. I bypassed many dirty tables in order to find a clean one.

I have been wanting to try this place for some time now, but as it was in an area I do not frequent too often I never had a chance. Now that I work right up the road I had my opportunity to give this place a go. I was pretty stoked and looked over the website and menu first before heading out. Seeing as I was going during lunch rush I didn't want to be that guy who stood there gazing at the menu for ten minutes puzzled on what to get. I dig how they offer different options based on the stores location that fit the flavors of the local community. The Motor City Burger that they offered though left me scratching my head trying to figure out how the ingredients screamed "Detroit". It is described as having two slices of American Cheese, haystack onions, ketchup, mustard and pickles on a pretzel bun. If someone wants to shed some light on how they got their idea for this one, please do. There was another option dedicated to the "Mitten" that they offered which seemed a bit more fitting. It was the Cherry BBQ, Bacon and Cheddar Burger. Here in Michigan we are known for our Cherries up North so I can see where they got their inspiration for this one. Off on my journey I went and upon arrival I found the location to be a bit odd. It is smashed (no pun intended, I promise) between a furniture store and a bank. A little unusual, but easy to get to and there was plenty of parking in the front and back. I walked in and the line was a bit long, but the service seemed to go pretty quick. In no time I was at the register and placing my order (Avocado Club Burger, Smashfries and a drink). They gave me my cup and a number to place on the table and by the time I had my drink and pulled up the ever so awesome Yelp app (cheap plug) on my phone my food was there. I was shocked at how fast they made my order. Shocked in a good and bad way. Good because I was on a tight lunch schedule and bad because it left me wondering if the patties themselves were made ahead of time even though they claim everything is made to order. I am leaning toward the latter that the patty itself was already made and it was just assembled upon order because I just can't see how a half pound burger can be cooked and put together that quickly. The fries were really tasty, but also very greasy. After their initial cooking in the fryer it was as if they didn't even attempt to shake off any of the excess grease and instead they just dumped them on my tray, seasoned them up and then loaded them up with olive oil. The burger was juicy, but the flavor varied. Some bites had no seasoning whatsoever while others had too much. It too was very greasy to the point where the bun was soaked and I went through over a half dozen napkins before I was finished. Right now I am middle of the road with this place. I think I will go back again within the next month or so to give it another shot and try one of their Chicken sandwiches, but for now I have had my fill of Smashburger for the time being.

Not. Impressed. First of all, the location is odd. It's literally connected to the Art Van Sleep Center and Chase Bank. It really should be a stand-alone or in a strip mall. Staff is friendly, place is clean and spacious. Prices are okay. I ordered the Motorcity burger with seasoned fries. The burger was super greasy (not that I'm against grease. I'm the person that butters bacon for crying out loud!) But this level of greasy was over the top even for me. Bland - burger was not seasoned at all. Fries were lightly seasoned but could use more. The pretzel bun was okay. Overall meh - nothing to write home about. I think Five Guys is way better.

Upon having a bad customer service experience at this smash burger I returned to see if anything had changed and because well to be honest with that kind of awesome food I couldn't stay away for long. & WOW was I impressed. If I was an owner I would want this exact staff working for me in every single location all the time. I was greeted warmly and swiftly and was helped with all my questions about their many meal options. Janelle a manager and her sister who also works there were so nice and helpful it made it feel as if I was talking to friends. The food- I got a black bean burger with guacamole on an egg bun. Not many people can make a good black bean burger they usually just use the frozen patties and nuke them. Theirs are always fresh & always delicious. Another thing is the guac, I eat guacamole on the regular and it's pretty hard to impress me bc I usually don't like restaurant guacamole. But there's is DEFINITELY a hit. My boyfriend got a chicken avocado club, which for being a burger place they also got out of the park. Last but not least SWEET POTATO FRIES ALL DAY EVERY DAY. Which is weird because I HATE sweet potatoes. I don't eat them ever. Not even thanksgiving but these..I dream about. I will return very soon and bring friends!!

Had a motor city burger- was juicy with out being greasy. Delicious with the added bacon. Very fast friendly service. Will go back for sure.

I really liked it. I think the burgers were fresh, tasty and for sure better than anything I could make at home. I had a Hagen-Daz shake that was crazy good, and a South-westernish style burger (Cannot remember its name) I was spicy goodness.

I've been to Smashburger before, usually the WB one even though I live in Troy now. I had a 25% off coupon and was craving a bbq chicken sandwich so I went here for lunch today. The chicken sandwich was delicious as always, I do the create your own with Michigan cherry bbq sauce and pickles. I ordered the haystack onions but with less salt, they were good but I don't think I will get them again because I had a major headache after. I've had their fries before so I'll probably return to those. Minor complaint, only one person at the registers. I waited and then when it was my turn, all of a sudden some guy who I'm thinking already ordered a burger put in an order for haystack onions (another employee told the 1 register girl to put it in) so then I had to wait like 5 minutes... Not sure why. She did apologize though. Sign up for their email list, I just took a survey and got a $5 off coupon!

Good burger yet it is a bit overpriced... I would get the regular size because the larger one just has a larger patty, length not width, so eating it isn't the most pleasant experience. Far better than McDonalds yet that's not that hard to beat, I wouldn't go out of my way for it... Great buns though

Smashburger offers a great variety of burgers with a local flare. This location serves up great food, but the service is often a little slow. Be prepared to wait to order, and be prepared to wait longer to get your food to the table. But once it gets there... you'll enjoy every bite!!

This Smashburger and the line out the door proves one thing I have always believed. No matter the condition of the economy, people will always line up and pay a little bit extra for something wonderful. The people at the registers are super friendly and fast. The food is awesome. Shakes--awesome. Real shakes. not fake shakes. large and good Chili--stick to your ribs goodness. Rich and wonderful. A bit on the small side to make an entire meal, but if that's all I was eating I would just get two Fried pickes--just get them. you will be glad you did. nice ranch on the side I've never eaten a burger here. my build my own chicken sandwich is what I crave and what brings me back/ the Chipotle bun is just about as close to heaven as I can get when speaking of a piece of bread, It really works well with the subtle smokeyness of the tender chicken. crisp lettuce and ripe but firm tomato, and some pepper jack and this is the perfect sandwich the place is spotless and the employees are right on target. busy and helpful but really out of the way and not in your business. I just wish there was one closer to my house If I had one gripe, it was that there is no call ahead and carry out available.

Just so so....would not go out of my way to have it again. Had the make your own burger with lettuce, american cheese, ketchup, mustard and chipolte mayo on a pretzel bun. Would have preferred a nice kiser bun. Lettuce was just a piece of leaf lettuce, would have shredded iceberg would been a better choice. Had the smash fries, were good not great. If I was to decide between smash burger or five guys, i would choose five guys.

Mmmmm... burgers... Smashburger - I've never been to one, so I didn't know what to expect. Burgers - They have their burgers available in 3 different sizes. This is +1* in my book as one size most certainly does not fit all. I had the Motor City Burger which was super good and not only because it comes on a pretzel bun. The burgers themselves were nice and juicy, though I'd be lying if I didn't like a bit of a grill sear to my burger typically that these were missing. They have a number of signature burgers, but they also have a create-your-own option which is fun for everyone. They also have a veggie burger option if you're like that. :P In addition to burgers, their menu includes chicken sandwiches, salads, hot dogs and things of that nature. Their sides go beyond just plain old fries. They have shoestring fries, smashfries, sweet potato smashfries, onion haystack, fried pickles, chili, fried veggies, etc. etc. Fries of the smashed variety come tossed in oil, garlic and rosemary - so make sure you actually like rosemary before ordering them this way. Kids menu adds grilled cheese and chicken strips onto the burger and hot dog options otherwise available. Our kiddo went for the chicken strips, and they were good - like real chicken as opposed to overly processed scary chicken. More importantly, they came with this cherry barbecue sauce that was amazing. I'll be back - for sure.

My wife and I have been to Smashburger a number of times over the years. We enjoy the fact that it seems like a real burger made from real beef minus the pink slime. We enjoyed the chicken sandwich with spinach that they used to have. Unfortunately, it's now gone. We love the sweet potato fries and the Smashfries and their hint of rosemary. It's not a bad place to go for a step up from the McDonald and Burger King level of nastiness. Still, I prefer In-N-Out burgers, but I know I'll just have to go west for those.

Fast, friendly service....delicious burgers, even better sides. Think your average fast food burger joint, hyped up a few notches by a nicer setting, finer ingredients, and more unique toppings and sides. I had a burger with advocado and a unique mayo type sauce on it, and shared some friend pickles and onion strings. The burger was moist and delicious. I've never met a fried pickle I didn't like, and the onion strings were crispy onion perfection. But, when I left, I felt like I had a rock sitting in my stomach. Whether done well or not, lots of greasy friend food will do that to you. And unfortunately, that's a lot of what Smashburger's menu is (not all - they do offer grilled chicken sandwiches with nearly all the topping combinations as their burgers. But their burgers are definitely their main thing, and I don't think there was a single side item that wasn't fried. This location is newly opened and I was fortunate enough to get in on the free VIP pre-grand opening, where all the guests ate their entire meal for free! Service was top notch from beginning to end, but I would be curious to return for a regular, non-VIP meal and see if it is the same.

My wife and I went to the VIP opening tonight. We were pleasantly surprised. I'll start with the burgers. They are tasty, fresh and juicy - not the usual stuff. I'd rate it better than 5 guys (buy I'm really no that big of a 5 guys fan anyway). But it's very good. You get a choice of bun from several listed. Plus a multitude of possible toppipngs! This is not a regular restaurant. It's kind of like a 5 guys type place - no drive thru or anything, the furniture is kind of hard, the floors are tile etc. etc. For THIS TYPE of place it is A +1. I can't think of one better. I hate the Onion stack and it was delicious. The only place that has a better onion thingy in my mind is Outback. This was tasty!! My wife had fries, and they were pretty average. The service was fantastic. We were very happy. I had some iced tea which was brewed and it was slightly different than the norm and it was really really good! This place has something different. It's very good tasting. The prices are not too high especially for the food you receive. I'd definitely consider going back! I hope you'll at least give it a try. I think my biggest complaint was the fact that it was blasting LOUD, and there was no music or tv that I could hear. The inside of the building has very high ceilings and the place was packed. The crowd noise was darn near deafening making it difficult for us to converse. I'm assuming that it won't always be quite that crowded.

Had the Motor City burger, it was awesome!!! Fries and onion rings also great. Servers and cashier were very friendly and helpful. Washed it all down with a yummy Faygo. I loved this place!!!

Burgers are pretty tasty : mushroom swiss burger was a bit greasy due to the melted cheese, but the avocado burger was really nice along with the BBQ burger. A ton of different types of fries: sweet potato fries are good along with the smash fries. Veggie fries were soaked in oil -- not the healthy choice it sounds like. The service was awesome; everyone was so nice.

Had a chance to attend the night before VIP opening! Becca the corporate contact from MN, was very helpful adding us to the guest list & even allowed a few +1's! We arrived to Smashburger 20 minutes ahead of our 8pm reservation ,and it was no problem as they welcomed us & took our order right away. We were welcome to any entree burger or salad, any side & a beverage. The 4 of us each ordered 4 different burgers to try each others, and 4 different sides. The Mushroom Burger stole the show, plenty of cheese , loads of mushrooms & truly the most flavorful bun Ive had that truly holds & compliments the burger. The sweet potato fries with sea salt was a nice change, as were the regular & sweet potato fries with rosemary ,olive oil & garlic. They had 1-2 gals taking around samples of the Haagen Dazs shakes, with chocolate, strawberry & butterfinger flavors to try. The place was pretty darn trendy in its decor, furniture & fixtures . The carpeted dining room , kept the noise level down, but I wonder about long term wear & tear. Seating was plenty of booths, & a section of half booth half tables & out door patio. being located outside of the Troy Sports Complex & the crowds of Troy it will be a happening destination. In closing the owners & corporate folks were there, and took the time to meet & greet, stop & chat , made us guests truly feel welcome. Also if your civic minded they were seeking $5 donations for the Boys & Girls Club, which many of us supported, Welcome to Troy, hoping to see one of your next 17 stores in Shelby & Macomb

It seems silly that a vegetarian would be a fan of a burger place, but I am. I love a place like this where they have a veggie burger option and endless opportunities for customization. I visited today and went a little nuts. I started with the black bean burger on an egg bun, then added haystack onions (think onion strings or really fine onion rings), sharp cheddar, avocado and pickles. I opted for no sauce, because nothing seemed particularly appealing to me today, but there was lots of options (including a Michigan cherry bbq sauce and "Smash sauce" which is mayo, mustard, sweet relish and lemon juice). The burger was huge. It was also slightly dry, so sauce probably would have been helpful. I got 4 or 5 nice slices of avocado, fanned on top of the burger, which made for a pretty display. I was disappointed to find just 3 little pickle slices, though. Speaking of pickles, the side of fried pickles was really tasty. A little salty, perfectly tangy. I could devour baskets of these. If they had good ranch, I WOULD devour baskets of them. Luckily for the health of my arteries, they don't have what I consider "good" ranch. Non-ranch connoisseurs might find it adequate, but I know my fellow Detroiters and we need GOOD ranch. Denny's has good ranch. Jet's Pizza has good ranch. Smashburger, sadly, does not. Lastly (I did say I over-ordered, didn't I) I had the veggie frites. I love love love the idea of geting carrots and green beans as a healthier alternative to regular or sweet potato fries. Unfortunately, these missed the mark in execution. They were greasy and soggy. It seemed like maybe the oil was hot enough, though I'm not a cook. I'd try them again, though...

Just got back from the smashburger VIP preview...WOW! Tops five guys in my book! The burger itself has a great texture, not over processed, nicely seasoned...juicy NOT GREASY! One thing I really liked was you can select your bun...which I LOVE being able to choose a multi-grain bun over plain white. All 3 diners in our group had different buns and we all enjoyed them! Lots of toppings to choose from, including Michigan Cherry BBQ, which just had enough sweetness/cherry taste. Cheese choice include american, pepper jack, and goat cheese!! Fried pickles are really nice. Batter was crunchy, but not gummy. Fries are good, but the smash fries are better. Smashfries have rosemary, olive oil and garlic...very tasty! No ketchup/ranch needed for these bad boys! Check this place out!! I hope we get one in Macomb County soon!!!!

First time here- burger was good, rather juicy and tasty. Fries were over salted. Biggest issue for me was the cost factor- just didn't realize the value for the amount we paid. Granted, it was my first time so I need to 'learn' the menu, but I had a full tummy but an empty wallet.

Tonight the chef-husband and I attended the VIP grand opening of this Smashburger location. Neither of us had eaten at a Smashburger before, so we were definitely looking forward to our mini-date-night! First heads-up...they don't have a driveway directly onto 16 Mile Road, you use the main Troy Sports Center/strip mall entrance. The place was super-busy, but the staff had everything moving very smoothly and quickly. Everyone was very friendly and wanted to make sure we had a good time. The inside was very loud but I'm chalking that up to opening-night craziness...they do have a patio if you'd prefer to sit outside. We were told when we ordered/paid that our food would be brought to our table within eight minutes, and it was. Both of us had the Classic Smashburger, mine without cheese, hubs' without onion. I LOVED the Smash sauce, it was very tasty. My Smashfries were a tad greasy and my husband felt the rosemary flavor was overpowering, but I liked them. He really enjoyed his sweet potato fries. The only thing we were both disappointed with were the milkshakes...they were more chocolate milk than the thick creamy concoction we'd expected Haagen Dazs milkshakes to be. One very nice thing to see...they were doing a promotion where for a $5 donation, you got five Smashbucks (a gift card) and they donated $5 to the Troy Boys and Girls Club. Definitely a nice way to start off in the community. Overall, I was very pleased with our visit to Smashburger tonight, and I'd definitely visit again!

I had heard a lot about this place, so my husband and I decided to go on and try it. Great decision. The burgers are nice and juicy and the fires are good as well. Everything was fresh and with the sauce they had on the burger you don't even need ketchup or mustard (and I always pit ketchup on my burgers) Will be going back and taking my daughter which I am sure she will enjoy as well

I know what you're thinking.. why choose Smashburger over other area burger joints? 1. They have multiple size burgers. I prefer a 1/4 lb burger myself. I do not want to feel like I need to jog 10 miles after eating. This is the perfect amount of food for me. Other sizes include 1/3 lb, 1/2 lb and double patties. 2. The ingredients are fresh! My spicy (and yes, it was spicy) baja burger included a non greasy, never frozen patty, fresh jalapenos (not canned), guacamole, pepper jack and delicious chipolte mayo. The taste of the rosemary combined with the olive oil and garlic made the smash fries delicious. 3. The iced tea bar was filled with mouth watering choices including a pomegranate red tea. 4. Nutter butter premium milkshake. Need I say more? The burger itself did not surpass the rival burger joints. However, the premium add ons and creative sides may lead Smashburger past the competition. The service was good, quick and professional. There were a few kinks in the grand opening including a locked door resulting in my burger flying through the sky and the music so loud the cashier and I had trouble conversing. Overall, a great night at the grand opening. We will be back!

Would have liked a bit more bang for my buck, but the burgers are decent. The Smash fries are a must if you enjoy a well seasoned shoe string fry. It is an odd location, but once you get over it, and find it, it's not bothersome. I tried the club burger and the avocado and bun was super fresh. I will be back!

I was excited and waited all week to try this place... excitement died when I took the first bite of the burger... but we'll come back to that. Of course, I always review their offering on their website before I head over, this helps when I order and it should it be busy, I won't hold up the line :) I went with Spicy Baja burger (reg) with fried pickles and sweet potato smashfries with a drink... got my number, paid and off to the tables. I think it only took like five minutes to get my drink and find a table before my food arrived... and there was a large order a head of me.... so I had to wonder if the patties were precooked during dinner rush.... Spicy Baja - where to begin.... the buns deserved -5 (that's negative 5) stars if possible... the spicy chipotle buns had really no taste, as far as I could tell... the meat was well cooked, but still some what tender... I saw a very thin (and I do mean very very thin) layer of spicy chipotle sauce on the bun.... the jalapeño pepper gave the kick, otherwise this burger would simply be a average joe burger. After couple of bites, I only ate the meat. Sweet Potato Smashfries - now the fries were awesome! It was crisp, I could taste the rosemary, olive oil and garlic... garlic wasn't overpowering and same with rosemary. Fried Pickles - don't bother... too salty and not worth your money. Once you order, you sit down and they will bring you the food... the waiters (not sure that to call them), came by and asked if they could take anything away... I pushed my burger basket to them and as I grabbed napkin to my right, they took my drink away too (it was still full).... I guess they were trying to tell me leave since i was done... I just hope things like this doesn't happen often! I would recommend the sweet potato smashfries, as for burger... give it a try and you judge the worthiness of their burgers.

Sorry, I don't get Smashburger. But the place was completely empty when I got there at 5 PM and only had one table occupied when I left, I guess others aren't getting it either. Why don't I get it? Well the menu is limited. The prices are high and the time it takes to get your food prepared is relatively long. Burgers were available in two sizes. Smashburger calls them regular and big. I ordered the big. I would describe the big burger as small. It certainly could not have been over about 3 ounces. I selected a canned burger which was basically a bacon cheeseburger served with a minimum of lettuce tomato and onion. And I ordered the Smashfries and drink. Does that sound like it should have cost $ 11.63? I could have stuffed my face with multiple double quarter pounders for that much money. The Smashfries were very thin cut shoestring style and were herb seasoned. They must have been prepared at too low an oil temperature because they were greasy. They were so greasy in fact that after I washed up, I still felt as if I had just received a lube job. The burger itself tasted pretty good. But I would put a price on something like this at around $ 3 tops. That entire meal should not have cost more than $ 6. $ 11 and change was an insult. And judging by the empty tables others did not wish to similarly insulted. The place is very close to where I am doing some work, but I think I will opt to drive a bit farther rather than to go to Smashburger.

I loved my burger but darn it's a turn off when you go into the bathroom and after using the bathroom their is no toilet paper. No toilet and they don't even have paper towel for ur hands so that means no wiping = so not cool! Never will i go back there!

Absolutely wonderful! Couldn't ask for more. Burger was great as well as the special rosemary garlic fries. The Michigan cherry BBQ sauce is a home run. Keep up the good work! Will be a must frequent spot for me.

I LOVE Smashburger! I've been meaning to come here for a little bit, but the weather wasn't cooperating, so I finally got a chance to came in here today. It's closer for me to come here then the one on Orchard Lake Road, and I'm thrilled that Smashburger is here in Michigan. I love their burgers. From the first time I ate here, I was in love. However they cook the meat tastes delicious and its a nice treat for me to come here and dine. I usually go with the original smash burger on an egg bun with the haystack onion rings, which is what I went with today. I would love to come here more often, but their just far enough away from home that if the weathers bad, it's difficult for me to get in. Also, if you go here, you MUST try the haystack onion rings. They are delicious! My favorite of any that I have eaten in the past. They also give you a dipping sauce to go along with it that sort of tastes like thousand island dressing. Its a must have! Overall, I had a good time here. Food was wonderful, service was good, prices were right on point. I plan on stopping in here a few more times over the next few months now that the weather's getting better.

I really wasn't impressed. I had the burger that came with cherry bbq sauce (forgot the name of it) the burger itself wasn't bad but it was so greasy I literally had to stop eating the burger because it kept dripping down my arm. Some people like that but I just found it gross and i didn't even finish my meal. The bun itself started off kinda stale but soon turned to mushy sponge of oil. I like their sweet potato fries with a sprinkle of sea salt and I dipped in the BBQ sauce since I asked for it on the side. The BBQ was pretty good! They have a lot of great deals if you sign up for their email coupons but if you want a burger save yourself the disappointment and mess and just have a Redcoat burger!

LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT SMASHBURGER. Delicious. Fantastic burgers that beat the pants of most of your sit down joints. And you can get your burger with a goddamn egg on top. Or made of chicken. Or avocado'ed. Options! The fries are crispy shoestring style. You can get them 'smashed' with fresh herbs added. My advice? GET EM EXTRA SMASHED. They also have sweet potato fries, because they love you The shakes are classic soda shop style where they give you the extra in a metal cup. Seriously, this is a perfect burger experience. It's so happy. Also, the servers are swell. They check in on you. Always making sure the dining room is tidy. They refill drinks if they can leave the counter for a bit. They're just nice! Why are you still reading this? You go order a burger, extra smashed fries, and an Oreo shake. Tell them Lauren sent you. It doesn't get you anything but maybe they'll name a menu item after me.

Stopped in to try the place and it was great. The fries were thin cut, but not too crispy, like potato stix, and once I started to eat them I couldn't stop. The olive oil and Rosemary made them extremely tasty. The burger was just as enjoyable! A toasted bun, smokey bacon, cheddar cheese, onion straws, BBQ sauce made this a great lunch. Cannot wait to bring the wife back here.

Was a little disappointed with the food. It was good, but very greasy. Will give it another try and see if I like it better.

Not just my favorite burger chain, but my favorite burger, period. Hot fresh and juicy served on a delicious egg bun. I don't know why the line isn't out the door at this place all day long. Just terrific. Don't get chicken or a salad and don't get too many fancy toppings (which they do offer) Screw that. The beef patty is the star here. I get the Big Smash with cheddar and just mustard and ketchup. That's it. I prefer the smash fries or the sweet potato fries but who cares. It's all about the burger and bun. The staff is very friendly and the place is always clean. Shakes are good and I like that Vitamin Water XXX is a fountain drink there too. But honestly the place could be filthy, the staff horrible, and they could serve no sides or drinks and I'd still come back for one of those burgers to go. They are that good.

Great food and service. I like the upgraded casual diner style. The burger that I had was excellent and their smash fries were delicious. Next time I hope to enjoy their milkshakes! The serving size was perfect and the food was really fresh.

Great burger! Had the bbq bacon cheese burger with onion straws. Rosemary fries were good also. Service was fast. You order at the counter grab a seat and they bring it to the table. Will be back to try the other varieties of burgers.

Love this place, it has replaced Steak N' Shake as our local go-to spot for food. It's nicer inside, and for just a dollar or two more than something at SNS you get far better quality.

Fun atmosphere. Hagen Daz shakes, are delicious. Friendly staff. Clean. Was disappointed the burger didn't live up to MY excitement to try it. Sweet potato fries, excellent. 4 stars from this foodie. Give it a try!

Food was good and fast! Service was great very friendly staff. Disappointed that they had NO turkey burger. Also no green olives for toppings.

I went to Smashburger on my way home from work one night after having passed it for months before hand. I was by myself, but I certainly did not feel that way. Right away the young lady at the counter greeted me with a smile, and she asked if I had been there before. Because I hadn't, she walked me through the menu options and was great at upselling me (she thought I didn't notice) without being intrusive about it. Because I am indecisive, I bought two burgers. You can build your burgers whoever you like, or buy one with the ingredients picked out for you. I always build my own when I can, so... The first was on the multi-grain bread, and it was fantastic. Lettuce, two kinds of cheese, and onion. The beef was a perfect medium, and not greasy Even better, was the second, and vastly superior burger. The second smashy was on the pretzel bun. Holy crap it's delicious! The fixings and meat were just as good, but the pretzel bun set it off. I also tried the milkshake and sweet potato fries, which were both a miss in my opinion, but listen, I go to a restaurant with burger in the name for the burgers. It would have been great if the fries and milkshake were just as good as the burgers, but it is NO reason not to visit this locale. It is still only third in my top three burgers in Metro-Detroit (1. Luxe Burger; 2. Five Guys), but to get into my top three is no small feat. I've been back numerous times and can only say this: Keep up the good work, and fantastic service!

Very, very good burgers. This is not the place to go if you're trying to watch your figure, but if you go in with that understanding, you'll love it. Great service, place is very clean, and it's easy to get in and out in a timely manner. Thank God they have napkins on the table, because you will need plenty. I think this place is much better than Five Guys, if you're looking for a comparison.

Great burger for the second time. Good flavor and fresh meat. strain your great fries better so they are not swimming in grease and place a towel dispenser in bathroom so we can use towels to open bathroom door with. Yes I am particular, but fair. I like your burger, fries and shake. just pay attention to detail and I will happily give you four stars. And yes, your patty is better than B-Spot's, however: they are more creative in their menu writing skills for simplicity and customer ordering purposes. I see many reviews talk about cost, I suggest they go shopping sometimes and realize what raw products cost.

Ahhh Smash burger. You had my hopes so high, that's when I am usually the most disappointed. This was no exception. The burger I ordered had so much red onion on it that I had to remove it. My hands stunk the remainder of the day after several washings. The smash fries were super thin cheap fries that are touted as gourmet. They tasted like lemon although they were supposed to me rosemary. To make these a hit, they need to create a sauce that compliments the flavors. My burger was just okay, nothing special for a burger joint I actually subtracted points on principal. I've had better burgers at a greasy spoon. Manager was super nice and I give him credit.... He really tried to make the visit nice for me.

Ordered an assortment of burgers and sides that the family shared for a quick carry out this weekend. Overall the burgers were nice and juicy and unlike other chains not dripping with condiments so you could actually taste the beef. The fries are thin, like matchsticks and you can order them with a little olive oil, and rosemary, which adds a lot of flavor to the fries. We also tried the onion straws which were a nice change from the mediocre onion rings most chains serve. We played it safe and went with cheeseburgers and bacon cheeseburgers but they had some creative burger options that I will definitely try next time. I can definitely see this becoming a regular burger haunt for the family.

It's been almost a year to the day since I reviewed Smashburger. I almost held out to review my update in four days. I said back then 'Overall: Will try again.' and I was true to my word. Over the past year i've made about 7 visits. I got hooked on the Michigan Cherry BBQ Bacon burger, add chipotle mayo. Today I met a fellow Yelper and his family here. It's the first time I've ever ate in. Let me tell you how much better my burger was eating in. I adventured out and ordered the Mushroom burger: Truffle mayo, sauteed baby portabella mushrooms and aged Swiss on an egg bun, add a fried egg. Oh man, the mix of truffle mayo, crispy burger, soft chew on egg bun, and fried egg creaminess. Total WIN! In the end, a solid chain they have going. They've done well to do burgers well, but also offer a few great sides without a 1000 menu items, and the dogs/shakes to boot. I wont drive pass other great burger joints just to get to Smashburger, but also I wont pass Smashburger to go elsewhere. Which ever is accessible from where I am will take the cake. Smashburger delivers solid deliousines.

I ordered the spinach and goat cheese burger and the smash fries. Everything was fresh and tasty. Service was quick. I probably wouldn't get the green tea iced tea again but will definitely order the burger and fries again. This is now my go to burger place when I'm in the Troy area.

Our standard order at this place is a veggie spicy baja jalapeno burger with a chocolate milkshake and the smash fries. The burgers are spicy with the right amount of jalapeños and fresh avocados. Quite the Mexican twist to an American staple dish. The fries have rosemary on them which makes them so unique and addictive. The chocolate shake is served in a tall glass and when you are done with it you can have a little more of the delicious chocolate ice cream from the stainless steel jar. I never miss to dip the rosemary fries in the shake before I finish the shake.

Smashburger makes a tasty burger. Similar in nature to Five Guys, this establishment offers customizable burgers with a large selection of toppings while only charging extra for special toppings (e.g. fried eggs, avocado, etc). In addition to their burger options, there is a large selection of various types of sides including fries, sweet potato fries, and fried pickles; albeit a la carte. My wife and I visited Smashburger for their VIP opening, and enjoyed the experience. My wife ordered the Motor City Burger with fried pickles and a drink, and I ordered the Spicy Baja Burger with smash fries and a drink. The food was fresh and tasted good, although, the meat for the hamburger was slightly under seasoned. The fried pickles were tasty, as were the smash fries. Overall we enjoyed the experience, and enjoyed the ability to customize a hamburger to the extent Smashburger allows. However, after all is said and done, it is just another burger joint, but with a nice atmosphere.

Super good! Was invited to taste prior to opening and it was a great time. Well laid out with outdoor seating and cool interior decor. I had the Motor city burger which included a super juicy beet patty, haystack onions, pretzel bun, and double cheese. WHOA was it good! Wifey had their classic burger which too enjoyed. Smash fries are delicious but in small amount as rosemary gets over powering. Our only complaint was the Butterfingers premium shake was too much chocolate. We loved how there are lots of Michigan items on menu including cherry BBQ sauce, cherry shake, Vernor's, & Faygo! My favorite part? The iced tea selection is super cool with 3 great flavors!

UPDATED REVIEW WORTH READING! I have to mention to my fellow Yelpers that I have just experienced the definition of exceptional service from one of the Owners of Smashburger. I wrote a review last Thursday that was solid but mildly critiquing the customer service, it was 3 stars, based solely on the experience I had with the front counter person but highly rating the food and decor of this new Troy burger restaurant. Within 3 days of writing the review, I received a well written email (at my work email) from Rob the Owner of Smashburger. He was extremely polite and professional and wondered if I had a minute over the phone to help him and his team learn what they could do different to make my experience at Smashburger even better. He was extremely sincere, and I agreed to his offer to meet for lunch and discuss my review. I literally made it two steps into the door before Rob greeted me by my first name. He had done enough research to know my other reviews, and recalled what I looked like. He has been nothing short of impressive. As a fellow business owner in the Troy community I absolutely will be sharing my experiences with him to everyone I can. Rob attentively asked questions about performance, and genuinely made me confident that he cares about the success of Smashburger. After getting to know Rob, and his style of leadership... I am certain that Smashburger will be a huge success. +*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+ ORIGINAL REVIEW: I was pretty excited when I saw them working on the build out for this burger joint. Cool concept inside, was very clean in the grand opening week I was there. I thought the prices were a little high, but not outrageous... certainly priced moderately enough for me to visit once in awhile, but probably not as a regular lunch place. Unfortunately the only bad thing I can say was the girl (manager?) that was working the late shift and running the cash register needed to brush up on her customer service skills. I doubt she has ever been in a position like this before, and frankly am not sure how long she will be there. The rosemary seasoning on the french fries was AWESOME. I think I would go there for this alone.

Smashburger is the latest "quick service" game in town. They specialize in burgers, but they have salads, hot dogs, fries, and a few other items. I decided to come here on a whim, just to try it out. Unfortunately I did not have a great experience. I ordered the Spicy Baja Black Bean burger. I normally enjoy spicy things, but the jalapenos on this burger were obscene. I don't know if they imported these jalapenos straight from Chernobyl or what, but they were nuclear HOT. I ended up picking off the rest of them. It was just too overwhelming. I guess it's partly my fault for ordering something that has the word "spicy" in the name. They really aren't kidding. My girlfriend ordered a salad, and there was ice in it. Ice! I don't know why or how ice got in it, but there was a significant amount. As the ice began to melt, the lettuce got soggy. She did not enjoy it. The Smash Fries were average. Nothing to write home about. The ketchup bottle at our table was empty, and so were the napkins. We ended up having to steal both from an adjacent table. I'm always excited to try new places, but this restaurant doesn't offer anything that rivals don't. There is too much competition in this segment for Smashburger to be successful. For my money, I'll stick to their superior competitors.

Smashing baby. Tried it for the first time today for my birthday lunch. We will be back. Highlights were the sweet potato smash fries - I only ordered them because my wife likes them. I'm not normally a big fan, but these were fantastic - crispy, lightly flavored with rosemary. Yum! Burger was juicy, just a bit greasy. Chipotle bun was surprisingly flavorful. Black bean burger was good - warning, it has a slow burning spicyness to it. Staff was very friendly. Opening giveaway coupons to new customers. We got a $2 off and a free kids meal. A bit overpriced, but better than your average burger.

This is probably a 3 1/2 star review, but still I enjoyed myself immensly. I had a large group with me (8) and we went to Smashburger for the grand pre-opening that was sponsored through Yelp.com The place is decorated in modern American casual place with a theme of red running through the establishments. I ordered the build-your-own burger with blue cheese, stacked shoestring fries, L.T.O. (lettuce, tomato and onion) on a brioche bun with the house sauce. It was Amazeballs! The beef was fresh, fully cooked and juicy. The shoestring fries were crispy, crunchy and NOT greasy, the brioche bun was soft, fluffy and had the best texture I've had in a brioche in a while. It had a sweet note to it too! The house sauce is like if A-1, sweet BBQ sauce and God's tears were mixed together... Breath-taking! They also passed out free shots of milkshake! They were good quality too, real peanut butter and chocolate that costs $5.29 an once are the main ingredients. The only downside is that my side was greasy and limp. I had the fried vegetables and they weren't as flavorfull as the rest of my magnificent meal... But I could move passed it. I'll be back soon.... very soon.... with a party for 157894193 next time!

I was so happy to see Smashburger open up in Troy. Love this place, but hate driving out to West Bloomfield. Open just a week when we visited, the service was fast and friendly, the place was clean and inviting. Kids had burgers, and chicken tenders which my daughter proclaimed as her all around favorite. In the process of eating a little healthier, I had the Black Bean Burger and was thrilled for a couple reasons: One, a Vegan option on the menu. Two, it was really good. Great flavors, and texture, and I was able to customize it to my liking, just as you can do with any of the burgers. I ordered the black bean burger with chipotle mayo, tomato, haystack onions and avocado. The burger was huge and satisfying. On the side I ordered sweet potato smash fries which were sprinkled with rosemary and olive oil. Yummy. All in all, Smashburger is a great casual, quick option for burger lovers and their veggie eating friends.

I attended the preview event (thanks so much, Annette, for the heads up!). In a nutshell... 1. Burger - Very juicy and tender, despite being well done. Toppings are all fresh and tasty. Got the Spicy Baja but will get a more traditional burger next time. 2. Sweet potato smashfries - Awesome! 3. Veggie frites - Really greasy and limp :( 4. Nutter butter and butterfinger shakes - pretty good but not very thick. I had a sample though and not a full shake. 5. Counter service Read on for more details... I had a Spicy Baja burger (from the menu: "Pepper jack cheese, guacamole, lettuce, tomato, onion, spicy chipotle mayo and fresh jalapenos on a spicy chipotle bun"). Regular burgers are 1/3 lb. For a dollar more, you can get a big burger (1/2 lb) or for 60 cents less than the regular size, you can get a small burger (1/4 lb). They didn't ask how I wanted my burger done, but no matter - it was really juicy, tender, and flavorful. The toppings were all very fresh, and the jalapenos totally made my eyes water. I'm not sure if they were light on the chipotle mayo or if they left it out completely; I couldn't really taste it. That's fine with me, though - I like to get sauce on the side and I had forgotten to ask this time. The chipotle bun was soft, tasty, and definitely had some chipotle flavor to it - kind of weird. My friend also got the Spicy Baja burger, and we agreed that while it was done very nicely, next time we would get a burger with more traditional toppings. I love that they offer a bunch of different signature burgers and that you can create your own. So many options! I got the veggie frites on the side. These were flash-fried green beans and carrots. Unfortunately, these were really greasy and limp. I also tasted the boyfriend's sweet potato smashfries, which are tossed with rosemary, olive oil, and garlic. YUM! Totally getting them (or the regular smashfries) next time. My friend's chili cheese fries were OK - they were topped with chili, cheddar cheese, onions, and fresh jalapenos. Note: the cheese is shredded cheese, rather than the oozing nacho-type cheese you get at a coney island. Other sides (which I have yet to try) include haystack onions, fried pickles, beef chili, side salad, and regular fries and sweet potato fries (without the rosemary, olive oil, and garlic). I also tasted two shakes - vanilla & nutter butter and chocolate & butterfinger. These were tasty but were kind of runny. These were samples, though, so I'm not sure how different they are from a full-sized shake. Perhaps they spent a little extra time between when they were made and when I got to try them. The menu is pretty extensive, and I will be back to try some other items. There are four salads for $4.99 each, and you can add chicken for $2.00. The iced tea bar looked interesting - they had three different types of iced tea, all fruity flavors (pomegranate and I forget what else). Oh and they have ice cream floats and Boston coolers (Vernors and vanilla ice cream)... mmm. I'm seeing a lot of comparisons to Five Guys, but I think that these are two completely different types of places and therefore should not be compared with each other. Five Guys is very basic - 1-2 patties, optional cheese/bacon, choose your toppings. Two kinds of fries, some hot dog options, veggie/cheese sandwich made with hamburger buns, that's it. Smashburger, on the other hand, offers a huge variety of burgers and toppings, chicken sandwiches, salads, hot dogs, sides, and shakes. Disclaimer: I love Five Guys. I am also loving Smashburger so far. (Oh, and don't get me started on Five Guys vs. In-N-Out vs. Shake Shack... again, these are all so different that you can't compare them.)

I also went to the VIP opening tonight, so with that aside... It's definitely not fair to rate their service, because everyone there was SO nice to us. Someone came to check on us and give us free stuff every 5 minutes, which I doubt would be the normal person's experience. Props for making our evening though. As for the food, here goes: 1) Burgers - I ordered the large ("BIG") Spicy Baja with extra bacon and a side of the sweet potato smash fries. Prices were reasonable, with the burger ($7) and the fries ($3) no real different from any other similar burger place (e.g. Burgrz, Red Coat). Not only can you order their specialty burgers, but you can design your own burger as well. Smashburger does an excellent job with the meat patty. It's of excellent quality, and easily a 1/3rd pound for the BIG size. Not greasy, and cooked through and through. The vegetables are also crisp and fresh, which is a great sign. These are definitely burgers that are assembled to order and with freshly purchased ingredients. I also appreciated how the buns are not thick and bready, but light enough to complement the burger and keep your hands clean. Sauces were a little off-putting. They seemed to be variants of mayonnaise without particular zip. Overall, burgers alone is comparable for anything in this price range, so coming here for burgers is a good bet. They also have salads, chicken sandwiches, and veggie options, but I did not try these yet. 2) Sides - When my food came, I smelled something awful. I couldn't figure out what it was until I realized it was an overpowering rosemary + fried oil combination from the smashed fries. This really didn't work for me. Perhaps other people like this, but having just had excellent fries at 12-21 at Morton's the other night, I was particularly harsh judging these fries. I also sampled fried pickles, the shoestring fried onions, and the fried vegetables. (notice a theme?) The pickles were bland and greasy, and the vegetables were limp and greasy. The onions were good, and would definitely be a great addition to a burger. Sides are not the strong point of Smashburger. 3) Drinks - I received samples of their milkshakes (chocolate, vanilla, Butterfinger), made fresh with vanilla Haagen-Dazs ice cream for an exceptionally creamy taste. They should make them a little more substantial, as mine were watery, but otherwise good. No alcohol, but I think this is a good family-friendly place, so it fits their agenda well. So what do I think? All in all, it's a nice sit-down, inexpensive, good quality burger place marred by poor side dishes. The location is a bit far off the beaten path, and if it was located near/in Somerset mall, business would be crazy.

I had the privilege of attending the grand opening tonight with a friend. SInce this was my first time trying Smashburger, I was excited to see what they had to offer! We were immediately greeted by someone who gave us some great pointers about the menu before we placed our order. I decided to explore the Create-Your-Own Burger option. They had several options for the bun, cheese, and tasty toppings including a variety of sauces to try on the burgers/sandwiches. Our food arrived very quickly and was DELICIOUS! I also got a chance to sample the fried pickles, vegetable platter, and two different types of milkshakes. Everything I tasted was excellent, and the service was superb! I'm assuming they were fully aware that most of those attending the event were frequent "Yelpers," so I'm not sure if this would be the same service experience on subsequent Tuesday evenings. Regardless, they really made an effort tonight to make sure we were more than satisfied. My only gripe is in regard to the extra few miles I'll have to run on the treadmill after sampling just about everything on the menu :-) Other than that, I have no complaints.

Smashburger, I know you are a chain.... but darn are you tasty! I have to give you another two thumbs up. The Motown burger is very delicious and I love me some sweet potato smashfries - which are, in fact, not smashed, but I get the intention. I also appreciate the addendum provided on the tray papers clarifying that you do not smash your salads on the grill. I was confused ;-) Thanks for clearing that up.

If you're looking for a good but fast burger along Big Beaver, there are really only two choices. Smashburger and Halo Burger. Smashburger always delivers a great burger at a good price. The food is fairly priced, the service is great and the menu has some excellent options. If I'm not looking for a bar or pub burger, this is a home run call.

Went to the soft opening of the Troy Smashburger and I have to say-I really liked it. All of our food (there were 6 of us) was fresh and yummy-the sweet potato fries were AWESOME and I loved the iced tea selection at the beverage bar. A great fast food alternative!

This place gives 5 Guys a serious run for their money. Not only do you get to choose from 6 signature burgers, but you have a plethora of options to create your own. Plus, there are 5 different buns and if you want sauce, it's free. I chose the All-American, while my hubby got the Motor City, and my daughter got the Kids Smashburger. Any place that can get my kid to eat the whole burger definitely wins me over. She loved the juicy burger, egg bun, and american cheese. I chose to customize my burger with a fried egg. The staff were all polite and attentive. We even had someone get refills for our drinks :) Now I'm not sure whether or not we were supposed to tip for the great service, but I didn't. I also love the fact that they have an iced tea bar. There's some pretty unique flavor combos that I have never had. All in all, I give Smashburger two thumbs up. And two toes!

Smashburger serves a decent burger and fries. I can't say that much here was that special. The buns were fresh, the burger was well done, the toppings were fresh if a bit skimpy. Had the smash fries (thin fries coated in olive oil and rosemary) and found them too oily, especially at the bottom. The sweet potato fries were nicely browned and crispy but could have used a dipping sauce. The service was friendly and efficient. I would come back if I was in the area and wanted a quick bite, but definitely not someplace I would travel 20 minutes to again.

Smashburger is more of a quick-service/upscale burger joint. They have a variety of burgers and chicken sandwiches to choose from, along with 4 salads, hotdogs and a veggie burger. You can create your own sandwich from 18 toppings such as spicy chipotle mayo, Michigan cheery BBQ sauce and jalapenos. They also have 5 options for buns and 6 kinds of cheese along with 8 premium toppings such as fried egg, applewood smoked bacon and chili. They have some nice sides as well; the fried pickle chips were really good. They appear to have dill in the batter which gives them a nice flavor. They also have great Haagen-Dazs milkshakes and a good selection of beverages including an iced tea bar. I ordered the Motor City (two slices of American cheese, haystack onions, ketchup, mustard and pickles on a pretzel bun) and the size was great and it tasted amazing! I was worried it was going to be on the 'plain' side when compared to all of the other options they have available, but this might be what I order every time I go. If you enjoy creating your own burgers/chicken sandwiches, I would definitely give this place a try!

No, no, no. If you're going to charge me $7 for a burger, I get to say how I want it cooked. Not at Smashburger...where all the meat comes out dry and gray. But wait, let's pour some juice on it. Two stars are for the sweet potato fries.

I went back again last week after receiving a $2 off coupon. The black bean patty was cooked a little longer, so it was great. A burger, side of fries and a Faygo is far too much to eat for lunch!

I was invited to the Smashburger VIP preview last night and brought along my three favorite people: my husband and twin six year old daughters. I should really let the girls write this review because they really couldn't stop raving about it! First up is the decor. Of course, the restaurant is new, so everything is shining and clean! It's a trendy place, with modern fixtures and fonts and bright colors all around. The booths are large and comfortable with high backs so you aren't peering into your neighbor's dinner. There is outside seating, but it is facing Big Beaver Road, so I'm not sure how pleasant it would be to enjoy your dinner out there. This is a burger joint, though, so let's not be picky. And what a burger joint it is! Yummy! To the uninitiated, I would say it's a huge step up from a Burger King or McDonald's and more...elegant (?) than Five Guys. Most people are going to compare this place to Five Guys and the prices are comparable - you are going to spend at least $30.00 for a family of four at both places. When you step into the restaurant, you are met with the cashiers and large menu overhead, where you order your food, pay and are given a number so that your meals can be brought to your table. The girls had the Kids' Smashburger platter, which consisted of a small Smashburger on an egg roll, fries and a drink. They were given the option of having different toppings on them, but my girls prefer the burger, the bun and some ketchup and that's it. Upon first bite, they both exclaimed that this place beats Five Guys by a mile. I had the Motor City, which was a regular Smashburger, topped with American cheese, haystack onions, pickles and ketchup and mustard (mine without) all on a pretzel roll. I think the thing that stands out to me most about these burgers is the roll the burgers are served on! From the egg roll to the pretzel roll, I was impressed by how substantial they were and that they didn't melt into a pile of goo, unable to support the inner fixings of one's burger. I think the Motor City was lacking in fresh veggies, but that would have been easily rectified had I chose to go the "Create Your Own Smashburger" route. Next time. My husband had the All American, which was a regular Smashburger with ketchup, pickles, onion and mustard on an egg roll. (A word about the sizes: small is 1/4 pound, regular is 1/3 pound and large is 1/2 pound.) We shared the regular fries and the Smashfries, which were fries seasoned with rosemary, garlic and olive oil. They were delicious! Slender and crunchy, they really didn't need any condiments to make them taste better. We also sampled some of their milkshakes. We tried the Oreo Chocolate, the Butterfinger Vanilla and the Strawberry. We preferred the first two, because it seemed as if the Strawberry had a bit too much maraschino cherry sauce in it. My only two complaints about this place is (1) the meals are served in chrome-like baskets with a thin sheet of wax paper under the food. We had a difficult time with the paper moving around, which resulted in some fries hitting the table and ketchup leaking. The baskets look pretty but aren't completely practical. (2) The 'pop' station is kind of cramped and pushed into a corner, which could quickly amount to a problem for nearby tables if it got busy enough. They offer Coca Cola products (bonus!) as well as three distinct tea flavors served in large tube-like contraptions next to the soda machine. The service was great and it was nice to see the owners, corporate and managers walking around to take in suggestions, answer questions and offer advice about the place. We will definitely be back and are keeping our fingers crossed that one is built closer to Macomb Township! (We were told that they are hoping to build another 15 or so in the area over the next 3 years.)

I have been to Smashburger twice in the past 3 weeks and both times it was fabulous! Both times I had the Classic Smashburger on pretzel roll and both times had me saying "yum, this is the best burger ever!" My guy had the mushroom swiss burger and I had a couple bites. I am not generally a fan of a mushroom swiss but this one is to die for. We had the smash sweet potato fries and the smash fries. The olive oil, rosemary, garlic on the fries is so tasty. And, being an iced tea drinker, the fresh brewed specialty teas are great. Oh, and the staff--friendly, helpful and keep the place tidy.

the ladies were excellent hosts (sorry can't remember names well) but the place was clean, friendly and food was good. Not that big of a fan of the bun but the burger was good and my husband loved the grilled chicken baja style. the sweet potato fries smashburger style and fried pickles are some of the best i've ever had. we will be back. He's a sucker for shakes so you had him at hello.

My new favorite burger joint! I've been twice and it was fantastic both times. The counter staff is terrific. The only thing that could possibly improve....are the food runners. They were lacking both visits. But everything else was perfect!

They have great sides and shakes here. Smash Fries and Salted Caramel all day. Oh yes. Unfortunately the burgers are just alright. They are decent, worth eating, but nothing remarkable (and not so tasty as they seem on paper, as the menu makes them sound). This probably wouldn't be a big deal if the place didn't have the word BURGER in its name. But since it does, I expect better. It's also a little pricy for what you get. A coupon certainly helps sweeten the deal, imo. Pro Tip: The Truffle Mushroom Swiss sandwiches (burger/chicken) are vastly improved when you dip them in the herbed olive oil at the bottom of the Smash Fries. Next time I come in I may just request a small cup of the oil for dipping.

We were greeted promptly with a smiling face. You order and pay, they give you a table number and their runners being your food to your table. Nice decor, comfy booths. Great burgers, the highlight for us was the egg bun. SUPER GREASY though. Pay the extra ands get the larger burger, a 1/2 pounder would be much more filling. The fries are shoestring and didn't hold up next to such a yummy burger. Tazo iced teas! That was a hit since I don't drink soda. We paid well over $20 dollars, I think they should've been 2 "$" signs on here to be fair. My Husband and I both agreed, we prefer Culver's to Smash Burger.

First at smash burger the bill came to $11.52 for lunch. Burger sweet potato fry and a ice tea. Wow not a lot for nearly $12 bucks and this 1/4 pounder. The burger ok not great and filling and not a good value. Or maybe I just didn't order the right meal. Anyway the best thing on my order was the sweet potato fry. Ok eat and be happy.

In the same vein as other upscale fast casual burger places like 5 Guys, Burgrz, B Spot, etc. It wasn't terrible, but at the same time I'm not going back. The people that worked there all seem nice and the place was clean so there's that. Also, I saw a lady pay $2.50 for a glass of "Vitamin Water". LOL, what a dummy!

I have been here many times and the food is always very fresh and flavorful. Good quality ingredients and a wide variety of different burgers and chicken sandwiches. It is hard to go wrong no matter what you order. A clean and calm atmosphere make for a very nice dining experience. One of the best quick serve restaurants around and for a chain one of the better burgers you'll find anywhere in the area. Definitely give this place a try.

I also do not get smashburger! :) The food is excellent in taste but very simple and in small portions..I dont understand where my 11$ went while I've received a 5$ worth of food. Burgers come in regular or big, where a bis is a normal sized burger and regular is childrens sized. I didnt leave very full and felt like I spent a lot. The place was empty at 5 am in my experience as well, which i consider strange but desirable. I wouldn't come again because of the prices, but if it doesnt bother you I agree that the food tastes very good

Employees were very nice, food was awesome. Will definitely be back. A bit on the pricey side but worth it. Was very happy they had Vitamin Water XXX in their fountain dispenser (that was a big plus - LOL!) I got avocado burger and veggie frites - husband got bbq cheddar burger and regular fries. We both enjoyed the experience.

I don't understand Smashburger. Very overpriced. Just one burger, fries, and a drink added up to over $10. Plus, the burger is very small and the fries are the thinnest that I've ever had. I will not be going back any time soon.

Ohhhh dang! This was a very pleasant surprise. This place is AWESOME! This is a walk up to the counter and order your food, type of place. Kind of like a Chipotle for burgers. The staff will then bring your order to you at your table, check on you throughout your stay, and they clean your table off when you're done. The burgers are amazing! The fries are some of the best shoe-string fries I've ever had. This is really no exaggeration. And for the price? It's around $25 for 2 burgers, 2 fries and 2 fountain drinks. Having recently dined at B-Spot and having that for comparison, Smashburger wins that battle without a doubt. I don't give out 5 stars all the time, and certainly not for "fast food," but this place really deserves it.

Jacob and I stopped here for a late lunch on a cold Saturday afternoon. Ordering was easy. We looked over the menu real quick then a friendly cashier answered the couple questions we had. Bill was a little expensive -- about $17 for the both of us. The restaurant is filled with nice tall booths with plenty of privacy. Our burgers came out quickly. They were picture perfect! My bacon burger was so flavorful and juicy without being too greasy. The bacon was a touch undercooked, thus a little chewey but it wasn't bad. Their fries are perfect... I love a good, crispy shoestring fry. Jacob's burger was also great. We both loved our meals. I wish there was a Smashburger Downriver so I don't have to drive 45 minutes the next time I'm craving a good burger!

My first time trying this place. The create your own is great but mine didn't turn out so well. Pretzel bun sounded good but I didn't care for it. Then I added jalapeños thinking they would give a small kick when in fact they kicked me alright... Hard. I was digging them off after the second bite! Good place but just not for me. The fried pickles are great and the sweet potatoe fries are awesome!

It's a burger chain. But it's kinda like the "Chipotle" of the Mexican chain world. It's near my house, fresh and delicious, with a variety of burger or chicken sandwich options- and this burger snob has never been disappointed (consistently yum!). Their concept is truly a smashed burger- flattened burger, veggie burger and chicken meat with a great array of toppings and flavors. Here's some highlights: My friend likes to go standard with the regular cheeseburger. It's just a pretty good burger with the regular toppings. I'm a bit more adventurous with the burg, and I like to get their veggie burgers spicy jalapeño Baja style, or with Truffled mushrooms and Swiss. Their chicken is pretty good too- try their spinach, cucumber goat cheese or maybe the avocado club. The sides are another reason to stop there for take-out. Their smash fries with rosemary and garlic are quite addictive, and I enjoy their flash fried veggie mix as well. But if you just paid attention, you'll remember I said to get take-out. The atmosphere screams fast food, even though they're pretty clean inside. This isn't a 'change your life' burger, this is a 'burger craving that's on the way home' kinda place. The fancy toppings and fresh ingredients keep me coming back.

Just had lunch here, and while the burgers were good, they weren't great. For a few dollars less I'd much rather visit another establishment with a number of guys in the name. I sampled two burgers and two of the fries. The fries now are another story, the only reason I'd come to smash burger, or recommend anyone go, is for the fries, they are great. I'm glad I visited though will not be returning.
