We've gone to this place twice, my conclusion is meh. The service is ok at times, but it will take a long time to get your food no matter how busy. There was even an unreasonable wait time for Dustin's martini. A plain martini should not take 10/15 minutes to get from the bar. The food is also just ok. The last time we were there I got the baked ravioli and it was good. I agree that the bread and dipping oil is probably the best part of the meal. There are coupons, buy 1 get 1 free, but be careful because it doesn't work for everything on the menu.

Terrible service! Actually had to wait five minutes at the front door and then had to venture back to the kitchen to find someone to seat us. Will not return to this particular location.

I'm surprised to see the only other rating is someone from the DC area, kind of interesting. A Detroit native, now living in DC, I have come to conclude that food is definitely better and fresher in DC compared with Detroit. A trip to Papa Vino's was quite interesting. Yes, it is a newer place, but I was not at all impressed with the food, quality and the quantity. I did order the mussels like the reviewer did before and was not impressed, some of them were still frozen! The service took some time to get the bill as well. I think all of us (4 of us) were disappointed with our food, yet just very hungry and dealt with it at the time. The service seemed to be very sporadic, and it seemed like she dropped off the food and then left for 10-15 minutes. I would not recommend nor will I return.

Maybe they are reading their Yelp reviews and trying to improve? My husband and I ate lunch at Papa Vino's last week and it was just delightful! He had a calzone that was bigger than his head and I had eggplant parmesan, and both were delicious and filling (could also be full due to the yummy breadsticks with seasoned olive oil dip). The service wasn't super speedy, but reasonable and courteous, except for the hostess who was so sweet and welcoming I thought we were guests in her home. Two entrees and two Diet Cokes came to just over $20 including tip. I would definitely go back, I thought it was a real treat!

I consider myself fairly tolerant of bad chain restaurants, and when I go to a mid-level chain restaurant my expectations are always low. Having said that, Papa Vinos was above and beyond any terrible chain experience I have ever had (and trust me, I have had a lot). I always eat whatever I order as long as it is true to it's description on the menu, but I ordered the butternut squash ravioli and had no choice but to send it back. The ravioli was obviously cheap and frozen but at least I could stomach it had it come alone. The sauce however was a completely different story. The sauce tasted like it was some kind of condensed soup cooked over a camp stove and after one bite I could honestly not stomach another. To verify, I asked my sister what she thought about the dish (she had ordered the same thing) and she completely agreed it was almost inedible. We both sent the dish back and they took it off our bill, but I will certainly never be visiting this restaurant again. Oh, and I forgot to mention, both my dad and brother ordered martinis and they weren't even filled half way. Major rip-off.

This was one of the worst dining experiences I have had in some time. A friend of mine chose this restaurant to celebrate his 27th birthday. A group of 9 people were present for this dining horror and each of us agreed we would never dine here again. Most of us arrived together but the group was there all within 20 minutes or so. But this did not stop us from ordering seeing as though we were all a bit hungry coming directly from work. The menu had a wide selection to choose from. The mention of separate (couple's) bills were mentioned to the waitress up front so there was no confusion at the end. Between all of us, we ordered the artichoke dip, calamari, bread, sampler platter as an appetizer. The salads that were included with there meal were brought out at the same time. At this time, we have been at the restaurant roughly 30 minutes. Because of the beverage refill service, most were going to the bar to get drinks prior to eating food. This is where the dinning experience went HORRIBLY wrong. The delivery time of the food was RIDICULOUS! The total time spent at this restaurant tallied a good 2.5 hours. We honestly were on an hour and a half before the food finally started to show. After the appetizers, there was delay of roughly 20 minutes before food started to arrive. At this time, only two plates came out. 10 minutes later, two more came out. Yet another 10 minutes, three more came out (at this point 7 plates have been delivered). Being polite, we were all waiting for the last two plates (one of which was the birthday boy's) to arrived before all started to eat. 10 MINUTES LATER the two waiting demanded everyone start to eat. So most were done if not 75% complete before the final two dishes (again, one of which was the birthday boy's) about 20 minutes later. Total wait time... an hour and 10 minutes! The final two meals pretty much were picked at for a few minutes and went directly into a carry out container. There was a mix of food (salad, steak, pasta, potato side, fries side, chicken alfredo) with obvious cook times for each, but this was unacceptable. Most of the food was warm if not cold when it arrived as though it was sitting there before brought out. There wasn't any excuse the waitress could give to cover the wait time. We remained courteous during this time without demanding a manager or compensation. We thought the wasted time and frustration was plenty for her to acknowledge some compensation was due. The bills game and to our surprise, there wasn't a single item that was deducted or comp'd. Not to mention, they were incorrect. This was the final draw as we all discussed never visiting this restaurant again. STEER CLEAR of this place!

Awesome bread. Awesome spinach artichoke dip. Loved the angel hair pasta marinara. The service was great, and very friendly. We were seated right away AND we had a coupon for one free meal! Whoot! I liked this place. The only negatives, IMO, were the oil for the bread (it was average at best) and the limited menu for vegetarians. Other than that, great chain restaurant, and relaxing atmosphere. We were there for lunch and i would totally go back.

The house salad here is amazing, although you have to get it a la carte with your entree. I split the small with my boyfriend and we both loved it. My favorite entree on the menu is the chicken parm. And their bread with dipping oil is the best.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
