High Blood Pressure at Applebee's

Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Blood Pressure

Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. The food was really good. For 16$ the combo was really filling. The ambience of the restaurant was good. Taste was also really good. Of all the Mediterranean restaurants I have visited, this was the only one who served Zatar, which is pretty famous in the gulf. I would recommend this restaurant and would definitely visit again.

Let's start off that first time they wouldn't honor a groupon per each separately paying person in party and second time we gave them a shot the yelp coupon was scammy (as you find out on site, "50% off your dinner" is actually buy one get one half off dinner entrees) Ayares my companion ordered was delicious..everything else not so much. Lentil soup was full of flour and shwarmas were awful. It was the worst lamb I had in my life, I couldn't chew it through. Chicken one was edible but not tasty. My waitress was young, quirky, fast and kind. The rest of our experience was a Lebanese gypsy circus show :D Awfully loud music, numerous unattended, misbehaving children bouncing off of our dining furniture. Chubby ladies screeching, screaming and taking selfies leaning onto our table literally with us in the background. All that proudly supervised by the smirking owner of the establishment who with satisfaction was stroking his full belly and giving us a dismissive look when I tried to make eye contact. It was so bad that we found it hilarious at some point! "The scenes of tonight were a test of sanity and mental fortitude. It could have been written best by H.P. Lovecraft" ~my dinner partner

Been there for twice for lunch and twice for dinner, and they seemed to amaze me every time I have been there. I tried the kebab platter for one and also the kebab platter for two the other time. Also had the opportunity to try their shawarma. I usually ask them to serve food with rice rather than fries. Their rice pilaf is not a plain rice pilaf like most other places. It is rather a vermicelli and rice mix pilaf. The star of their lunch is the roasted vegetables that is served with the meal. And I just love the way they grill/roast the veggies. Just the right amount of charring and seasoning. Another unsung hero at this jewel is their chicken soup. Nothing wrong with their lentil soup. I love their lentil soup to but it's too thick for my personal taste. Both soups are good but I personally like the chicken soup. And by the way their wine selection is pretty good too. Although it doesn't change too frequently, it does change may be few times a year.

Visited Lebanese Grill twice with some guys from work. Less than a couple of miles away, that's good. Spacious interior, over both lunches it filled up but wasn't crowded. One of my buddies ordered the garlic dip, and that was great! Such a palate cleanser! I had the cream chop chicken (basically a deep fried chicken cutlet) lunch special one time and the Shish Kafta (grilled beef, chicken, and lamb loaf without the skewers) the next.Complimentary warm pita bread and olive oil, nice. We needed it as both times the food ordered took about 30 minutes to arrive. They were both piping hot, and very good. The grilled meat was lightly seasoned and excellent carmelization. The plates came with a starch (french fries), greens, and roasted vegetables. A lot of food, and I had to take some home as leftovers both times. Most of the lunch specials were under $14, very nice. I made a mistake with the Shish Kafta, and there wasn't a lunch special for it. I was charged the full meal price of $18.95 for it, and that was a little excessive. For an occasional treat Lebanese Grill is nice and the lunch specials are great. Will repeat and recommend when you want to have something a little different.

It was super meh for me. I had hoummus, garlic and mjadra. The hoummus and garlic were good, but they give you 2 pieces of warm bread at a time. The mjadra was not good. I had a groupon. But I wouldn't go back. It just wasn't worth the price and it wasn't good.

It's been a long time, but good as always. We moved away and decided to come back. We used the Groupon 15 for 10 deal and got the combo schwarma and two bowls of lentil soup. This is the best meal here my humble opinion.

    (5)
  • Elena M.

Okay, but I've had better. It you're a fan of soggy schwarmas then this is the place for you. Today, my carry out order included an extra side of moldy pita bread. Yumm!! I gave it 2 stars because the salad is actually pretty good with their house dressing.

Don't be fooled by the plain jane exterior and parking lot, this is one hot spot for highly traditional beautifully prepared Lebanese dishes. Grandma may not be cooking in the kitchen but her skills and expertise shine through in the delicious dishes served here.

I went in here with a group of 8 friends. Mediterranean is one of my favorite cuisines and Lebanese Grill didn't disappoint. I chose the lunch combo - soup/salad, unlimited pita bread, hummus, baba ghannouj (not sure), felafel, rice/fries, grape leaves and you could add roasted potatoes for a $1 extra. It came in big portions and I could get the leftovers home for dinner. Polite staff. Good place.

Went for lunch on a weekday. Parking was awful as the parking lot is very small. Had to park on a side street, which led me to believe this place must be awesome as the place must be packed. Entered and was quickly greeted and seated by the very friendly and attentive staff. Ordered the lamb with hommous with crushed lentil soup and a papaya smoothie. Soup and smoothie were both excellent, the hommous was good but the lamb had a gravy on it. I have ordered this other places and it has never had gravy. Gravy wasn't awful, but prefer lamb without it. Also, was only given one piece of fresh pita bread. Rest of bread was like from grocery store. All this for 20 dollars plus tip!!! Way too expensive for what you get. This place wasn't bad, but it wasn't very good either.

  • Kim B.

Love this place always have always will. The service is fast friendly and precise. The garlic I dream about. The tabouli is so fresh and half an order is more than enough. It's a must do when I'm in town. Thankfully he even honored by expired Living Social coupon.

  • David M.

Service was very good and staff were all friendly. Food was good but mostly average...nothing was bad, just average. We ordered a meaty combo and had plenty to take home for two more meals. It is much closer for us than some better ones we like in Dearborn so we may go here again sometime.

    (3)
  • Dan C.

We had the Lebanese sampler. HUGE amount of food. Way more than the two of us could eat. The best was the Shwarma. Not like the usual ground variety. Individual morsels of beef and lamb with amazing flavors.

  • Angie H.

Let me start off by saying that I used to love this place. So much so that I told everyone about it and would often introduce friends to it by suggesting this place to eat when hanging out. Sadly, I can no longer say this. First of all, I used to love their fattoush salad. The last time I ordered it, however, it was made with mixed greens rather than their usual romaine, and it was awful. I had raved about this place to the couple of friends I'd come with who were trying this place for the first time, and their meals weren't much better. Chicken was overcooked and dry and the rice very bland. Definitely not what I had previously experienced here. However, I decided to give it another shot since the food had been great every other time and since I read on here that they had gone back to using romaine in their salads. A friend and I stopped by just before 10pm on a Friday night...my friend having driven all the way from Dearborn Heights at my recommendation to come here. When we walked in we were greeted by three people who told us they were not accepting dine in orders but we could place a carryout order if we wanted to. Mind you, their website says they close at 11pm and I've been there countless times on weekends until that time. But on this night they had a large party in their banquet room and chose to give them their undivided attention and ignore any other potential customers. Sorry, but this is bad business. I mean, seriously, every booth/table was available and the staff was sitting around. If you don't want to honor your business hours, then I would suggest changing them. Needless to say, we did not place an order to go, and chose to dine elsewhere. As overpriced as this place is, I used to gladly pay to eat here, but my last experience has pushed this place into my "they're never getting another dime outta me" category. I won't be back. Edited to add that in reply to the owner's response: yes, I did review the correct restaurant/location and yes, these things did occur at the Lebanese Grill on the corner of Maple and Rochester with the very small parking lot across the street from Payless Shoes.

My first time here and I was very lucky to have Ann as my waitress. She recommended for me to get the chicken shawarma and fattoush. I was having a bad day at work and im glad Ann brightened up my day. The food was great. The chicken shawarma was tender and the garlic sauce was tasty. The restaurant was clean and the food seemed healthier than your average restaurant.

  • Joe P.

I've carried out from this place a few times and never once have I been completely satisfied. The staff is pushy, the ingredient portions within the ghalaba are backwards and the food is way over priced. Not once has the garlic dip been included in my order. I've given this place a shot several times and each time has been worse than the last. Don't even bother.

    (1)
  • Alexandra C.

I've only been here twice and both times it was delicious. Staff is always friendly and the food is always fresh. Love the shawarma, chicken is always great. Pita and Garlic sauce is to die for!

Great service, great food, always fast. I started going here when I started using GrubHub, it's become one of my favorite Lebanese places. The price is a bit high considering the prices at other places in Royal Oak, but it's a small issue considering how close it is to my home. Definitely recommend, try the baklava.

I went twice to this restaurant and saw the importance of a good wait staff. First visit all was wonderful. Delicious food, helpful staff, large portions. Second visit waiter who acted like we were an inconvenience in his day. My food arrived lukewarm, assume it was sitting. All in all, not a positive experience.

    (3)
  • Vipsania A.

I give 4 stars for consistency. The food is usually fresh. Yesterday the rice had undercooked vermicelli but the lamb chops and shish tawook were fresh and juicy. The only complaint is the bread. I wish it were freshly made like it was at La Shish before it closed. Also, the windows and tables could be kept a little cleaner, but overall the restaurant smells fresh.

Although I usually go to the one on Hall Rd, but my errands placed me near this location, I called ahead & ordered the Rice Almond Salad & a small garlic dip. When I arrived it was on the counter , bagged & ready to go. $10.07 This salad is loaded with goodies & that Dressing!! Their garlic dip has a super solid bite to it, not for the faint of heart, plus they included some freshly cooked / quartered pita bread.

  • Michigan M.

We ordered the combo for two. The food was good, the portion was large. I ordered a starter combo, which consisted of tabouli and two other dips. The pita bread and salad was good as well. We ordered a carry out, so I cannot comment on the cleanliness of the restaurant. The staff was friendly, and the food was warm.

  • Mike J.

They weren't terrible but I doubt I doubt I'd come back. I was there on Saturday around 5:30. I ordered mujudara with swarma meat. It took quite a while to come out and was luke warm. The lentils had kind of a leftover taste with a few freshly grilled onions thrown on to disguise it. Maybe it's just that the plate sat for awhile before it was broughtvout. Then it came out without garlic sauce and the server was no where to be found. I work in Dearborn & have not seen a Middle Eastern restaurant that didn't send out several containers of garlic sauce with every meal. I not only didn't get it, they charge extra for it. I'm kinda frugal, nothing sets me off like nickel & diming me. BTW, I rarely tip less than 25%. I the end, I was done eating & cancelled the garlic sauce. They were aplogetic but I will probably try elsewhere next time.

Great food and service. The ghallaba is to die for. Love the garlic dip and warm bread too. Smoothies are excellent too. My kids love the crushed lentils soup and fries. We had a couple catering a from there and it was great too. Beats the other two locations in shelby and rochester.

  • Alexis S.

Love this place....I usually order their mixed grill platter for two ppl and a quart smoothie. Occasionally they have lamb chili and that is my fave:) Don't let the rough exterior of the building fool you, it's better than most of the middle eastern restaurants in the area:)

  • Kevin K.

I love this place. I almost always get the shish kafta with garlic sauce and a fresh juice. The waitstaff is always friendly. My lady and I are becoming regulars here.

  • Tutu S.

When ordering a carry out be aware of their $10.00 cash policy they will get you when you go in by saying they get charged a fee and cannot fufill your order. Everyone knows that you get hit with a credit card fee when you do not use a specific amount. I am sure they are not hurting but it is a ploy to make you spend more. I feel that if you are ordering a carry out they should tell you -hey, if your meal is under 10.00 please bring cash or when placing an order by phone specify we have a 10.00 fee on debit and or credit cards. Just a heads up to change with the times and the ploy is not fooling anyone.

Love, Love, Love this place! We just had lunch here today, again...The pita bread was soft and warm, their lemon smoothie was to die for! Order the house combo for two, with extra rice. You will get a great variety/sample and will be very pleased! Yum!

This was our third visit, and both service and food quality was significantly less than previous visits. I ordered the lamb kabob and was served beef kabobs. Instead of apologizing, the waitress argued with me...insisting that it was lamb "just with lots of spices". Seriously? As a cook and lover of lamb I would recognize the texture and taste which is very distinctive. I also overheard a waitress telling a foreign visitor that he couldn't have soup AND salad - saying this multiple times. I was embarrassed for the customer - she should have told him there was an extra fee - NOT that he couldn't have it! #last visit here........

  • Kay S.

I like this place a lot, it's my family's go-to. Have tried various entrees here, including chicken shawarma, chicken tawook, beef shish kabob and they're all flavorful and lovely. I also like the baba ganouj here, has that great grilled flavor. I also often get the fattoush salad, which is pretty good too. Juices aren't my favorite, but my folks get them a lot, I feel like they're a teeny bit watered down.

This is the first Lebanese restaurant that I ever tried and it has now become my favorite type of food over the last few years. I have tried many different places in the area and this place has still hung on to the top spot for Lebanese food. I have had just about everything on the menu and everything is great from the salad to the falafel to the kafta to the shawarma and it is all top notch.

    (5)
  • The Critic C.

Dunno what happened. this place used to be my fav, but it seems the cooks have changed (but the high prices are the same)... the chicken kafta no longer has that special taste with all the different spices. It's bland like ground chicken and parsley. Hardly any grilled veggies and none of them are seasoned. I could make all of this at home. This is my second or third try after raving about the place... sadly it's now just like any other run of the mill Middle Eastern restaurant. I don't think I will return any time soon.Looks like it's back to the drawing board :'(

Michigan has the best middle eastern food. One of my favorites: Lebanese Grill! Authentic Lebanese food and massive servings. Everytime I eat there, I'm in a food comma afterwards. Their spices are so flavorfull. Every (dinner) dish comes w/ choice of soup or salad. The salad is fresh. Meals come w/ a basket of pita; also comes with dipping oil w/ seasame seeds. YUM! prices are worth the quality of the food

  • Shannon S.

Bought the Groupon, but this place is on the pricier side, and for what I ordered (grape leaves 9 grapeleaves and some rice $15!!) it was mediocre at best. Our server brought my friend, the wrong kind of wine, but urged him to try it as it was Lebanese, he said "Go ahead, I won't charge you" (this after the Gin & Tonic was sent back because it tasted only like tonica water) when my friend disagreed, I offered him my wine for a switch, and I took the Lebanese wine, but...he charged us for it anyway... The server was more concerned with getting out of there by 9pm.. :~/

PERFECT! You don't have to drive to Dearborn for a great middle-eastern meal. The best raw kibbeh nayyeh, the hummus and lamb is excellent!!!

  • Melanie S.

Saturday night dinner at 6 pm for four. Orders included garlic hummus, chicken shawarma, chicken kafta, lamb shank and tilapia with shrimp. Either a salad or soup came with the meals aside from the chicken shawarma. The salad was a good side with dark green lettuce. Warm pitas were served with the hummus. The garlic paste was not well incorporated into the hummus and consequently a dime sized amount nearly cost me my taste buds. Although I brought this to the attention of the waitstaff, she did not offer to refund the amount or bring a fresh dish. The rice seems to be fried with some oil which increases the flavor but with unnecessary calories. The flat bread is served with an oil and herbs, but the herbs are neither cooked to release their flavor or mortared to release their flavor, hence resulting in little flavor. The same oil is used on the salad but at least the herbs cling to the leaf lettuce resulting in a greater flavor when crushed. Everyone was happy with their dish, although the lamb shank was "dry." The sound of the vegetable juice maker is piercing and LOUD. It should be moved to the kitchen or insulated to prevent conversation stopping loud noise. If you are a Troy resident with a library card, you will get a discount. My water glass was filled throughout the meal and lemon was provided when requested.

Quality has gone down considerably from the first time we came here. Portions have greatly been reduced, and food preparation has become sloppy and not fresh. For the price, not worth it. You pay a similar amount at Anita's Kitchen in Ferndale, and their quality and freshness is much better.

Dear Lebanese Grill, in future... don't lie to your customers via this website by claiming you deliver. Sorry no, I can't afford $100.00 (delivery minimum) worth of your food. Thanks for nothin. Sincerely, A Chef You've Failed to Please

This place was so good, EVERYTHING i ate was awesome, Soup, Salad, Coffee and the Food. The service was really nice too, My daughter made a mess and they insisted we leave it for them to clean up. My 11month old liked everything I gave her. She wouldn't stop eating.

  • Samir N.

I have been here a number of times, mainly because it is so close to where I work. They have very cheap lunch specials, and that is generally what I go for. Nothing here is really mind blowing, but everything is decent. I ended up coming back because there was a GroupOn. I know this is not Dearborn, but there is better Lebanese in the area. Aside from the lunch specials, I am not sure if I would go out of my way to eat here.

  • Patrick R.

Pretty much the best Middle Eastern food I've had around here. A little on the pricey side, but they always have a groupon now running that makes it reasonable. Got the Lebanese sampler for 2 which was huge. Everything was tasty. Only neg mark, server didn't bring extra bread after we asked her.

  • Shanita M.

Meh. Not particularly good or bad. The outside of the buiding looks dirty and unappetizing, but the inside was very clean and neat. The service was ok, the food did come pretty quickly. The grilled veggies were not cooked completely (especially the sweet potatoes, they were like rocks) but the lamb and garlic dip were tasty. This place near work, but if I have a choice I'll go to Pita Cafe in Southfield instead.

  • Jessica C.

Without a doubt this isn't the best Lebanese food the metro area has to offer. I ordered only a chicken shawarma, but had to buy hummus also. Since I ordered my carryout over the phone, no one informed me you can't use a credit card to make a purchase under 8 dollars. I'm actually glad I was forced to buy some hummus. The hummus was better than the chicken shawarma, having great flavor and consistency. I wish the shawarma would've been better, it was dry, bland, and felt as if something was missing. The hummus was really good and makes me believe they're worth another try.

Middle Eastern food is my favorite cuisine because it is so healthy and has lots of vegetarian choices. I have tried most every Middle Eastern restaurant in the Sterling Heights and Troy area. There are other good ones but Lebanese Grill is the best. The food is fresh, high quality and reasonably priced. They also have a wide selection of entrees, appetizers, soups, salads, etc. I wish more restaurants were as good Lebanese Grill. I feel lucky to have it nearby.

I've been coming here for years and this is definitely a great spot to get your hummus on! We went here for dinner and it was pretty dead but don't be scared, the place is packed during lunch so it was a nice change of pace. I love the homemade pita bread and oil dipping sauce that comes out first. I always wonder what kind of spices are blended in the oil.... We ordered the Falafel appetizer that came with at least eight of them plus veggies and the Tahini sauce was light and had just the right amount of everything. We split the Shish Tawook dinner that also comes with your choice of soup or salad, we ordered the salad that has a really great dressing and either rice or fries. I love the almond slivers that come with the rice! The chicken was juicy and tender and went really well with the garlic sauce and grilled veggies!!

The food was smothered in oil and not fresh. A lot of it tasted like it was left over from the day before, microwaved, and brought out to the table.

Shish tawook was tender and juicy and delicious. I would recommend not getting the lemon oregano sauce. The waitress forgot to bring out fresh juice, so I can't comment on that.

Had a chicken schwarma and fattoush salad to go. It was a little pricy compared to other Lebanese places I eat for it. Schwarma was okay but not enough sauce. The fattoush was good and had lots of veggies but like most places they went a little overboard with the dressing. Overall okay but I'll drive to Kabob House for my next fix.

We've wanted to eat here since we drove by 2+ years ago while house-hunting...but with all the restaurants in the area, it took a Groupon to get us in the door. And wow, we were mad we'd waited! The service was quick and attentive...and there was SO much on the menu it was hard to decide! To start, the warm pita and spice dip was really very good. Hubby went with the day's Lamb Shank special and the non-lentil soup (I can't remember what it was), I had Shish something (seasoned ground lamb skewers) with the lentil soup (as recommended in another review), and we both had the rice. Wow, was everything delicious! The lentil soup was really, really good--the other tasted like a generic vegetable soup. His lamb shank was so tender it fell off the bone--and off my fork as I tried to stab a bite! And it was unbelievably tasty. My lamb skewer was a bit overdone but it was my own fault for not knowing how I wanted it cooked (never having ordered it before) so the waitress suggested medium well. Now, I should have known better because I never order ANYTHING medium well...but I opted for her expertise. I think Medium at the most would have been good. But even so, it was still super tasty. The few pieces of roasted (?) veg on my plate were a little too raw, but still had a good taste. So why not five stars? Beverage service. My water was refilled but not nearly often enough (only once the entire meal) and pop/refills are $1.95 each--a total rip off. Sure, I could have checked the menu or asked, but I just never expect that (although it seems more and more places are going this route). But overall, a great meal out, and one we're sure to do again.

I do not usually write reviews, but this place forced me to do so, first of all the waiters there are extremely rude. The food was horrible, the falafel were raw from the inside !!! they are bland , and who puts sesame seeds in falafel, I am Jordanian and this is definitely not the way to cook them !!! I love shankleesh , I ordered the shankleesh and it was bad, its not even shankleesh, this dish is a traditional Lebanese dish and they call themselves Lebanese grill !!! homus was ok , bland but edible !! too expensive for the quality of food they serve, the crushed lentil soup was bad too, as if they had some concentrated form and added water to dilute it, no spices in it and it wasn't even crushed well. I DEFINITELY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE, YOU WOULD BE BETTER OFF IN A RESTAURANT IN DEARBORN, ANY RESTAURANT IN DEARBORN , TAKE THIS FROM AN ARABIC PERSON WHO KNOWS HOW REAL ARABIC FOOD TASTES LIKE !!!!!!!!!!!!! Update since the owner replied; this is what was the real reply from the owner after my review : " This is (Abe), the owner of Lebanese Grill Restaurant in Troy where you had your horrible dinner on Sunday 3/25/2012. We have been in business for 13 successful years and we are proud in what we do. We are known with our fresh quality food and friendly service. I did read your note & your review on yelp; I do respect your dining choice and thank you for trying us. Sorry that you had a bad experience with us & horribly sorry that we caused you to waste your valuable Doctor's time to write a review about us. I hope you can find your taste satisfaction at a Jordanian or other Arabic restaurants. I definitely suggest that you keep going to Dearborn restaurants for real Arabic food since you know that much about food (I hope you know better about Medicine). Since Dearborn Restaurants satisfy customers like you Doctor that makes me more confident of the way we serve our LEBANESE FOOD. " That reply was sent before the public response of the owner placed on my comment Let me start off by saying I was just placing my opinion , whether you approve of it or not is not my concern, no need to insult me as a physician, if we do not agree on how Arabic food is being served or cooked that does not give you the right to make such comment, I was not getting personal , I never insulted the owner, all I did is I placed an opinion about the dishes you serve. If you took it personally I apologize, but I still stand still about my opinion regarding the food you serve, and it will not change.

My husband and I love Lebanese Grill. The staff is super friendly and attentive. First off, I agree with the previous reviewer; the crushed lentil soup is really, really great! Prices are extremely reasonable, and the food never disappoints. It's true, the service is slower, than say, McDonald's, but this is not fast food. I especially love the taste of freshly grilled anything, and that's exactly what keeps bringing us back. My personal favorite: Fattoush salad. The dressing is perfection for me, fresh, tart, and flavorful. The pita bread pieces are usually still warm, and perfectly crunchy. The vegetables always taste fresh. When I'm really hungry, I get this with some grilled chicken. So delicious and healthy! Finally, the frozen lemonade is also excellent. Sourness varies often, but I always add sugar to my taste.

Heard about this place it's not far from my office must say i wasn't that impressed at all. I love Mid Eastern food and god knows there is a lot of choices in Metro Detroit. The sandwich i ordered for lunch was blend and soggy falling apart. Fresh squeezed juice was good. Service needs improving. Step up your game please

I've only been here once and had a falafel sandwich, but it was good. not great, but i would have it again because i love falafels. Plus, it was only 2.95. Service, however, was mediocre. It was friendly enough (mostly), but it was slow and barely attentive. I would go back if I was in the area, but there are enough good restaurants in this category all over the metro detroit area that i wouldn't go out of my way to return.

Lebanese Grill is close to our home so we varied from our normal Mediterranean choices and tried it. The food was ok, but there were a few staples that I was disappointed in. We got the sampler for two to try some of their different dishes and get a feel for the restaurant. The meat dishes were good; we tried the shish tawook, lamb shawarma, and shish kafta, which were all pretty standard Mediterranean. The pita, hommus, and toum where all good too. They lost points for me because of their grape leaves and falafel. Their grape leaves had tomato in it, which gave it an odd flavor and caused them to be very soft. I prefer more rice and lamb in my grape leaves. Second their falafel was very grainy and deep fried to the point of being crunchy all the way through. I like a falafel that is crunchy on the outside but soft/moist inside. The food was "ok" at the Lebanese Grill, however there are better options in the area such as La Marsa.

I've been to this place once before and it was OK - not great but eh, OK. Went there today again and was disappointed. 1. They had a "now" deal on groupon: $10 for $20 worth of food. I thought ok, I bought it thinking I'd use it for lunch since it's nearby. When it printed out, it said "must purchase 2 dinner entrees" - I did check the groupon page carefully, nothing mentioned there about having to purchase dinner entrees. I didn't use it cause dinners are just too much food and I didn't want to have to take food home with me; I'm hoping Groupon will live up to its promise that if you don't use it, they'll refund your money in groupon credit. 2. Service was eh, OK. Our waitress came by our table once, although they weren't busy. 3. Food is where I the majority of my points go to, normally, during a review: I was disappointed. I ordered chicken kafta (kofta) with soup and my lunch partner ordered chicken shawarma with salad. They also give you a bread basket which is two small good round Arabic breads and more of the cheaper pocket pita quarters. Her salad was ok, with a large quarter of a tomato in it which she had to cut in several pieces cause you can't eat the whole thing. I've had lentil soup many times before at different Lebanese restaurants and this is the first time I had some with rice in it. I guess they're trying to save money on lentils and filling it up with rice instead. Taste wasn't that great either. My meal came with two chicken kaftas. They were green - no, I'm not exaggerating. I know there's supposed to be some parsley in them (cause we make them ourselves at home) but about 40-50% of the kafta was parsley. There were other fillers in there, too (bread or bread crumbs) and it was very hard to tell if there was any meat or how much of it. Because there was so much parsley, it overpowered the taste and if there were any other spices in them, they were non-existant taste-wise. I'm not planning to go there again until I hear they've improved their food quality.

Staff was very rude. My waiter couldn't stop starring at my girlfriend like he never had seen a girl before. He only acknowledged me for my order besides that didn't take his eyes off of her, made us feel very uncomfortable. Chicken shawarma was kinda dry, ok bread, lentil soup ok. After reading a response from the manager On a another review insulting him makes me think the bad customer service is across the board.Went on a Saturday at dinner time and place was dead... I can see why.

Being from California, I have learned that Michigan portions are HUGE and that prices tend to be reasonable. The surprise here is the variety, the great taste and the offerings for vegetarians. The service was great and the Lebanese beer showed how mediocre American mass beer is, I had the borgul and my wife had hommus vegetarian ghallaba

    (4)
  • Ego T.

Excellent food. Possibly the best vegetarian selection in the area. The falafel are great. I am a second generation Lebanese and I know falafel are sometimes made with sesame ( actually the authentic Lebanese version does have sesame). Also try their smoothies.

It's an ok establishment but compared to my fav spots in Dearborn it falls a bit short. I'd go back if I received another Groupon, just a bit pricey for what you get when compared to similar restaurants...

  • John H.

Vastly overrated and overpriced. The good--Lentil soup and fattoosh was decent. That's it. The Chicken Ghallaba lacked, well, chicken and the sauce was watery and bland. The regular sized fattoosh tawook comes with 4 small chunks of chicken. The pita bread was absolutely nothing special. Prices are about the highest I've ever paid for Middle Eastern. This was actually our 2nd visit. We weren't too impressed the first time but, based on most of the reviews, decided to give them a 2nd chance. Not again. Shame on us, I guess.

I love Lebanese Grill. (I also love La Marsa equally, so for people who are looking to compare the two, please scroll down to the end of my review.) To start, the server will bring a basket of pita bread - a combination of regular thin pita and hot, fresh-baked pita. I'm not sure why they do this because the fresh-baked pita is obviously better. A dining companion once asked for fresh-baked pita only, though, and the server obliged. While the sandwiches are pretty good (and a great deal), I always go for the entrees because they come with the best soup ever. Their crushed lentil soup is soooo good and is loaded with such wonderful umami flavors, I could swear it's made by sacrificing a young chicken to the gods. We tried asking a server about the ingredients, and all she would (could?) tell us that it was completely vegetarian and... pre-made. Wow, props to her for being so honest. But the soup is still so good, it could be full of crazy salty preservatives for all I care (but I don't think it is; I am really sensitive to MSG, and I don't have to gulp down gallons of water after having my beloved soup). Also, it doesn't contain any overpowering spices, which is great for people like my mom, who cannot stand cumin and such. The entrees themselves are humongous and are enough for two meals. They come with your choice of soup or salad (SOUP, duh) and rice or fries (rice rice rice! with vermicelli and almonds!). They also include some grilled vegetables (green pepper, onion, carrot) and pickled radishes on the side. I am not the biggest fan of carrots, but those grilled carrots are amazing and I would totally fight my sister for them. As for specific entrees, I used to get the veggie combo (for one) a lot. It comes with hummus, baba ganoush, tabbouli, falafel, vegetarian grape leaves, and rice. All are tasty, although no falafel in the world can compare to the falafel at Jerusalem Garden in Ann Arbor. This fact ultimately led me away from the veggie combo, and I now tend to get the chicken shawarma. Boring? Perhaps. But the meat is tender and has that wonderful spit-roasted flavor, and it comes with a side of creamy, delicious, scare-everyone-away-with-your-potent-breath garlic sauce. I've also tried the house combo (for two), which consists of shish kabob, shish tawook, shish kafta, chicken kafta, lamb shawarma, and chicken shawarma, served on a bed of rice with some grilled vegetables and pickles on the side. Two soups or salads are also included. All were very good, and my anti-lamb self actually really enjoyed the lamb shawarma, which had been seasoned with lemon juice. Although this was billed as being for two, my group of four adults feasted on the house combo and gave up halfway through. We got this as takeout, and it was extremely fast - 15 minutes! LEBANESE GRILL vs. LA MARSA: most people love La Marsa because it is more well-known and in a more highly-trafficked spot. But Lebanese Grill is just as good. The breakdown: 1. Sandwiches - both places are very good 2. Free pita bread - La Marsa wins because they give you nothing but delicious fresh-baked pita. Lebanese Grill gives you some fresh-baked pita but also the regular stuff. 3. Free sauce/oil for your free pita - this Lebanese Grill gives you za'atar (delicious dried Middle Eastern herbs) in olive oil. La Marsa and the Lebanese Grill in Shelby Township will give you garlic sauce. I prefer the za'atar; the boyfriend prefers garlic sauce. 4. Entrees - both are very good. 5. Service - both are slow. While Janelle prefers the service at La Marsa, I have had indifferent service there as well. I'd say it's close, with La Marsa having slightly better/faster service. 6. Menus - Lebanese Grill wins because their menu is a little newspaper containing fun facts about Lebanon. haha 7. Juices - both are good. 8. Crushed lentil soup - Lebanese Grill wins by a mile. 9. Veggie combos - Lebanese Grill offers a veggie combo for one. La Marsa only offers a veggie combo for two. This is important if you are craving vegetarian food while dining with a carnivorous boyfriend.

Good vegetarian Middle Eastern Food. Their house spicy oil/dip is very good & we actually took some home. We had falafel sandwich, spicy humous, veggie combo & the lentil soup, along with the homemade lemonade & mango smoothie.

A friend is visiting from Missouri, and has never had middle eastern food (aside from a bad hummus experience), so this is my excuse to order all kinds of stuff at once. Full disclosure: I have my laptop next to me as we eat- we got the food takeout. The baba ghanouj is incredibly sour (although at least they didn't go crazy with the liquid smoke, as some restaurants do). Not bad at all, but not really ideal. I like the hummus, but it's not my very favorite. The fattoush and tabbouli are pretty good. The fattoush was on the soggy side, but you can't really complain if the fattoush has had to endure the drive home. The lamb ghallaba and lamb shish kafta are both good but not outstanding. The lamb grape leaves are good- no complaints here. The lamb shawarma has a striking similarity to lamb jerky, which I don't say as a criticism- it was interesting flavor and texture: chewier, but not sinewy or tough. One of the best ideas someone has given me about middle eastern entrees is to ask to substitute grilled vegetables instead of the pile of rice. Although rice is often pretty good (especially with the standard almonds, which they have here), your craving for carbs is more than satisfied by all the pita. Oddly enough, most restaurants don't charge for this substitution. Lebanese Grill charges $2.00, which seems perfectly reasonable to get some very, very good grilled vegetables. I read on Yelp that the bread is homemade- I don't think that was reflected in the bread being amazingly superior. The bread was not stale, though, which is always a killer. My wife gave up meat for Lent, so we got her a hummus and tabbouli sandwich. The contents were pretty good, but the bread was dried out- I think they premade this sandwich and threw it in the fridge. Object lesson on how to turn your sandwich pita into an effective anti-mouth weapon. The waitress, who was also handling take-out, was friendly and conscientious. As others have noted, the place can be pretty slow in the evening, but it's never creepy empty. In summary, this is a good place to get good food. If I don't want to drive over to Sheesh, I certainly won't be sad coming here.

While not a true Dearborn experience, this place has it all. We ordered the largest combo plate for 8-10 people and we had plenty to take home. Great prices, great selection and local if you are not up for the drive to Dearborn.

First time here was tonight. Strange, Friday night I get here round 7:30.. place is empty. Maybe 3-4 tables in the joint are occupied. I'm told by the server that Fridays are weird here, everyone comes in around 5pm. No matter.. I am 1/8 Lebanese, and love Lebanese food. I had never heard of Lebanese wine. It was.. well, it was Lebanese wine. The blanc de blanc was kinda like a sauvignon blanc that the fruit was overripe. But it wasn't bad by any stretch. Just... different. The food seems quite nice though. Had the salmon Gohalla(sp?) and was pleased with the freshness of the items, the spice was there but not overdone, and very generous with the nuts in the rice, but I don't know if they were pine nuts because they were so big. I would certainly come back again.

The Lebanese Grill is a family owned establishment, according to the website it has been in business for forty years. There are two locations, we dinned at the restaurant located in Troy. The restaurants interior is decked out with funky trinkets and souvenirs from Lebanon. I actually liked the kitschiness of it. We sat down and immediately received a basket of warm pita and flatbread accompanied by a saucer of herbed olive oil. The olive oil was heavy on the oregano but wasn't too bad. The service was prompt and professional. I ordered a regular sized Fattoush Shwarma ( Lebanese salad topped with Chicken Shwarma). The ingredients seemed fresh and the chicken was cooked well. My date ordered a Mjadara, which again seemed seasoned well and was fairly fresh. All in all we agreed that the food was good but not great by any means. The prices on the other hand were great! The entire menu was priced extremely well. Now for the down side. Upon entering the restaurant I noticed a faint mold/mildew basement-like smell. It wasn't too bothersome but raised some suspicion. At the end of the evening I made the mistake of entering the restroom which had a very large puddle of water on the floor from a leaking urinal pipe. To avoid standing in the puddle I entered one of two stalls. Both of which had signs above above the toilets asking the customers not flush any toilet paper..... instead there was an open trash can next to each toilet dedicated to used toilet paper. I've waited enough tables to know that if a restaurant doesn't care about keeping their customers in a safe and clean environment; they definitely won't care enough to take proper safety precautions in the kitchen. With good conscience, I cannot recommend a that anyone put their family's health at risk in this establishment.

By far the freshest and best Middle Eastern food in a city known for its Mediterranean cuisine. I admit it is a little off the beaten track but well worth the trip. If you are looking for, longing for, the authentic flavors of great Lebanese food you will have found it. They have the usual shish kafta, shish tawook, and lamb dishes but they also offer steaks, seafood and vegetarian dishes that are mouth watering and beautifully presented. The chicken sauteed with jalepenos is spicy, hot and delicious. Chicken ghallaba is a home made stew and tastes that way, Mjadara(lentils with cracked wheat) is the best! Try the sauteed cauliflower, you will not regret it. All the soups (lentil and chicken rice) are made fresh daily and when they have it you must try the Lamb Chili, it is superb. A nice selection of wine is available. As for dessert, try the home made rice pudding, sinfully creamy and scrumptious. The owners are hands on and aim to please. The wait staff is attentive and knowledgeable. Try this place you will keep coming back.

Great food and service. One day I'll try something other than the shish kafta which I love. The fresh lemonade is great as well, although depending on who makes it can be a bit heavy on the orange juice. Still delicious, however. The only reason that I did not give it five stars is because the kids selections are a bit disappointing. My daughter tends to just eat the warm, yummy pita bread and lentil soup since nothing on the kid's menu really interests her.

The parsley in the tabbouli was a little hard! Weird. The sandwiches I've had are good but not as good as Shish Kabob or Beirut Palace. The hummus is delicious - the service was good. The raw juice smoothies - don't compare to what LaShish used to have. Where can I find raw juice smoothies that are just as good?

I spent 45.00 and they did not take my coupon. But the kabob meat was tough and fatty and the soup was bland. I won't go back again. They are a mile away would rather drive to Dearborn for good food. A total waste of 45.00

Food was good, but as our first-time visit with a Groupon coupon in hand, we were informed by a not-too-friendly waitperson, that this coupon was for lunch. That 's what we wanted to order, a "starter" and a "fatoosh" salad. But, we were told, it had to be from the "lunch" menu. Not a "sorry" or anything. We decided that we wanted what we wanted and paid for it. Food was delivered without the standard come back to see if everything was okay. We also noticed that a family or a group of four came in, sat down, waited to be served, never saw a server and finally left. Not good. Food was good, but the service was poor. Got our check, no offer of lunch, paid the bill and left. Not sure we will even go back and use the Groupon.

If you are looking for a LaShish replacement, this place is not it! The food was just OK. My sister ordered a soup and said it didn't taste good and they refused to take it back. Also they said it had only chicken in it and she saw beef in it. The food is mediocre at best and the service I would rate the same. If you want food with flavor and great service, this is NOT the place. I will not be back, not even if I am starving!

we've eaten here a few times. we actually discovered it because there was a coupon in the entertainment book and we've kept coming back. i do agree with Marco about the smell, i do recall a funky odor, i just thought there was an old mop bucket sitting around somewhere. i will be sure to investigate further the next time we stop in. onto the food. the pita bread and olive oil with spices is super delish and the hummus is even better! we have ordered a few different things off the menu and everything has been outstanding, but i usually default to chicken shawarma when i don't know what i want and sometimes we share the combo plates. the salad is always fresh and tasty and the rice with sliced almonds is always fluffy. there is always so much food we have plenty for lunch the next day. the service is always quick and friendly. we will definitely be back!

nice work yelpers. went here for lunch on the reco's (too busy to say recommendations) of 4 or 5 yelpers who said it was good... and they were oh. so. correct. table of 3 split the regular hummus and it was more than enough (brought some home), i had the lentil soup, which was smacktacular, and then the lamb special. fall off the bonage, people. it was really good. co - works had the chicken schwarma, fatoush and baba ganoush and all looked and sounded gdeat.

I eat lunch at this place at least once a week and have done so for the last 4 years. The food is alway consistently great. I also find he service consistently great. They make a fantastic chicken shawarma sandwich and the lentil soup is my personal favorite amongst the many middle eastern offerings in the area. I also like the Ghallaba and fattoush salad. Both of these are larger dishes that I generally only eat half and end up with leftovers. Everything is fresh and well seasoned. My only word of caution is not to gorge yourself on the fresh hot pita bread and olive oil that will arrive at the table before your meal. I rarely spend more than 8-9 dollars for lunch here since they have well priced lunch menu and daily specials. I've never had dinner here. FYI, they have a rather large room that is available for events in the back and they do a great job catering lunches (we've used them for several office events)
