Ok first either the a/c was broke or they are too cheap to turn it on. They turn the dirty fans on which blew hot air on us, and dust. Next I ordered the Nemo burger which I asked for medium well. I guess that meant extra well. The waitress was good and did a great job staying the drinks, plates and food so I would give her five stars. But the food just killed it.

we went here for dinner last night and they had the perfect thing on the menu to satisfy my craving for hot wings and a chicken sandwich, a buffalo chicken sandwich! the server warned me that even the mild sauce was hot so he had them put on 'light' mild sauce which was just fine, it could have been a little hotter though. my husband got a burger and he said it was good. the crinkle cut fries were hot, crispy and excellent. our server was good, he gave us the right amount of time to order drinks and look over the menu. he was also very friendly and did not rush us. the decor and atmosphere were cool, lots of TV's and it wasn't too smoky. my only complaint is that the music was SO LOUD! it was a wednesday night and there were only about 10-15 people in the bar and we had to keep yelling to talk to each other. pretty annoying.

The thin pizza wasn't thin and not so good, very sloppy, tasteless and under cooked, also got pretzels that you can't mess up. The place is cool inside with lots of tv's and plenty of seating, I'm trying to be positive. But it just wasn't that good, after drinking my first beer the waitress didn't come over for a least 8minutes felt like forever, I was thirsty, then it came time to pay the check and she disappeared again, I hate that. So for me it wasn't that great of an experience.

I've been here a few times just for drinks but last night was the first time I've ever sat down for dinner. We both got salads (how hard is it to mess up a salad!?) Well, it was great. The dinner salads are huge and only $9.99. They were busy but the service was great and the food was good too.

Absolutely by far the worst service I've ever had. Took a group of people there for a surprise going party first waited 10 mins to be seated then they told me I didn't have a reservation which I made earlier in the week. Took 25mins for first drinks to come out. Took an hour for 1 appetizer to come out. Ordered a personal pizza to go took 35mins to get it was cold not fully cooked. Sent it back with hostess to get cooked again. Had to ask for it 25mins later and it came out even colder than before and not fully cooked. There was just issue after issue. WE NEVER EVER RETURN!! I WAS SO EMBRASSED for bringing friends and co-workers to this ESTABLISHMENT!! Never Again!!

So, this is my first Yelp review... I came here tonight to support a friends fundraiser, it was my first time here. I looked up the place earlier and the top results were rave reviews about the steak quesadillas. And they were right, every bite was perfect!! Service was quick, friendly and efficient. Overall great experience! I eat out all the time, I just don't take the time to discuss it on social media. This place is worth it. The bar is set here people!

Stopped by for a couple of drinks after visiting Airtime Trampoline Park. When we got there, they took an extremely long time (almost 10 mins) to seat us even though there were empty tables. I ordered a Flaming Spanish Coffee, and when it arrived I was extremely unhappy to find out that the cocktail was not served "flaming" and that the bartender simply flambéed it during preparation. Personally it is my belief that if you advertise something as flaming (the reason I ordered the drink to begin with), then it should be served flaming.

I like it hot! Buffalo Chicken Sandwich that is. I had been here in the past and forgot to review(duh). On this trip I had the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich. I was given four choices of flavor, mild, medium, hot, and insanity. The peer pressure from my workmates talked me into the insanity. Okay, it had to be the weakest super hot sauce I have ever had. It actually tasted like it was mild. It was a good sandwich. Crispy chicken, lettuce, ranch dressing, one of my favorites. The fries were good, average and hot. The service was fast in that we had about fifteen people there. The only reason for three stars is the prices. I had a glass of water with the super hot sandwich and I still paid $12.00 with a tip.

Ordered 2 appetizers and 3 kid meals. It took over 45 minutes. We asked to have the nachos taken off the bill but it was thrown at us with all of the other carry out items as we were trying to leave only to find as we are driving out of the Parking lot salsa is everywhere and soaked through the pizza box and now on to my clothes! Manager claimed it was so busy although 3/4 of tables were empty. Should have gone to BW's!!!

Decent enough place if you'r ein a pinch for some food and drinks. The irish nachos are stellar, highly recommend those. The buffalo chicken sandwiches / wraps...are not. They're chicken, but it's not really buffalo sauce, and it's not even really all that hot, so it's pretty much an annoying let down. Lots of tvs, good beer selection on tap and in bottles, so...like I said, it's a decent enough place if you're in the area and looking to grab a bite to eat and have a drink or two. I wouldn't make a destination of it.

  • Shaine S.

Worst service ever. Lots of open tables, but wouldn't seat us, so we waited at the bar, many more tables opened up but still they didn't seat us. All the while clean silverware sat at the hostess table in the dishwasher container... Very dirty

Great food, great service. Lisa, the manager, is awesome! So are Gabby and Sara H. They had a live band once, they played like 2 songs and left. What's up with that?

Great food. Incredible beer selection. And a hot staff - Sara H, Gabby, Lisa, and Timmy!

The atmosphere provides a great old town and sports feeling. I enjoyed the food and portion size was excellent. Only downfall is that it took a while to get our food but it was delicious. Will eat here again when I'm back in town.

The staff at Joe Kools is always pleasant and attentive. I've always had a great time there. They have a great beer list and a solid menu. The sandwiches are huge. I especially like this as a choice for group lunches and celebrations. They can accommodate large groups and parking is abundant and convenient.

  • Sarah A.

Great food with a huge menu!!! Fun atmosphere with tons of tvs. Always my go to bar with great drink specials. If you haven't been here before I definately recommend it.

  • Matt W.

They have a big list of beer on the table. I picked one at random and asked the waitress what it was. She didn't know so I said I'd try it. She brought it back and it was NA beer. I told her how unhappy I was and she charged me for it anyway. What kind of crappy bar lists NA beer with their microbrews? Snoopy would be so pissed off if he found out what they're doing to his name.

First the wings were great. Second..Katie the bartender was great. Took care of us. I dont give 5 stars frequently. I really like this place alot.

I come to joe cools for two things.. The environment because they have all the games playing and their nachos.. Something about all that cheese and nachos that start tasting like popcorn makes me choose joe cools over Buffalo Wild Wings! I hear the other menu items are good too but you can't go wrong with the nachos. It serves the purpose, bar food with football!

  • Ashley H.

Our experiences here have always been great. We don't think of this place nearly enough and hadn't been here in a while when we stopped by the other night. Their draft beer list is longer and includes more craft beers than I remember. Their menu is quite extensive and sure to please everyone in the group. I remember their burger being good, ordered it again this time, and sure enough it was cooked to a perfect medium and had great flavor. I topped it with grilled onions and mushrooms with swiss cheese. There are TVs all over so you're sure to catch the game and they have a nice party room that is reservable for a group function.

    (5)
  • James C.

Alyssa the Waitress is HOT. The buffalo nachos are pretty good too.

  • Sam G.

Took over 50 mimues to get our lunch, waitress was not attentive. Very pricey for mediocre at best burger. No wonder why I never heard about this place before and it been around.

2 cheeseburgers, including 2 bowls of soup and 1 beer: 27 bucks, before tip? Comon food is good but not that good. Our server was WAY too aggressive. Almost like we were being kicked out. I'm going somewhere else next time.

The only thing Joe Kool's has going for them is that it's in the same plaza as another sports bar so when that place was full for a recent bowl game, we could just walk here without trying to figure out/drive to another place to watch the game. We were seated in the furthest section of the restaurant, which also happened to not have any sound. This is quite problematic while you're there to watch a game. We asked someone to turn up the sound but never heard from them again. Even when they opened the garage door separater so from the front of the bar could travel toward us, it just wasn't loud enough. Heck, there's even sound in the bathroom! It was just disappointing since this wasn't our bar of choice. The food wasn't much better either. The salsa was the best part of the huge portion of the bit too mushy southwest rolls. The spinach artichoke dip, which tasted like it had a cream cheese base, didn't taste fresh. Combining it with garlic French bread (probably thrown in the oven from the pre-made frozen section of the grocery store) was too much. And the garlic honey chicken wings just plain did not look appetizing. Blue moon pints are $4 on Saturday nights, which is a good value. But they ran out of oranges. Overall, It just feels like this place wasn't ready to handle a big crowd for a football game: No working speakers and running out of oranges. If you come here with no expectations, I'd presume you'd have a good time. There was a good crowd (which cleared pretty quickly but that was probably due to the game), friendly service and there are good drink specials throughout the week.

Yelp has it right at three stars. I have been a couple times. It isn't somewhere I would go out of my way to visit, but every place we passed down Dequindre was closed at 10:30, except Ram's Horn. So, it was here or Buffalo Wild Wings, which is always just a no for me. My 6' 2" growing teenager made the mistake of ordering an individual pizza. It is enough pizza to feed a toddler. He said it was really good though. I had the fish and chips this time. Get this if you want a family sized meal. It was embarrassingly large, but really good. It fed me and my teenager after his pizza appetizer and we still had a piece of fish, a pile of coleslaw, and half the mound of fries left. Service was terrible, to the point that I almost walked out waiting for our order to be taken-and I have never done that. When she gave us our bill, she apologized and said, "I didn't charge you for the pop because I kept forgetting you were here." Nice. Her section was in the bar and we were in the dining area. I don't know why she was assigned to us because it was nearly empty with plenty of staff, so I tipped my 20% because at least she was working.

Went for lunch in a group of eight; good service, but the wait time between ordering and getting the food was very long, especially at lunch. Fortunately my boss was with us so she understood why we were taking longer than expected. Not on our list if we need a timely noon meal.

Shit bar at not shit bar prices. Feels like a chain. Horrible service.

We frequent this place a lot. Love the pizza, burgers, and soup. One complaint- there is no baby changing station in the bathroom, thus I always have to take my child to the car then back to the restaurant.

My friends and I recently went here to watch MSU play TCU, but of course, there was a two-hour wait for a table of five at BDubs right when their bowl game started. I'm usually a supporter of local businesses and have been to Joe Kool's many times over the years, but I've come to recognize that this place is just more about the atmosphere over food quality so this is really more of a two and half star rating. Upsides - *The setup: It's a big space with deliberate divisions that make it functional yet a bit more unique than other hometown bars in the area. There are tons of TVs throughout and even sound in the bathroom. A clear garage door type of divider delineates the larger dining room from the smaller one. A private enclosed space has been the perfect area for larger groups in the past, and the outdoor patio is just right for the summer heat. And, lastly, there is a separated bar area for the rowdier crowd. *The beer menu: Again, better than other local bars because it has quite a bit on draft with even a few local and seasonal brews. I really appreciate the menu on the table that clearly marks which are made in Michigan. Downsides- *The food: We ordered a variety of apps in hopes of dissipating our original desire to have chicken wings at the neighboring competition. We all agreed - Everything seemed to have been reheated frozen food with no flavor. The server recommended the Southwestern Eggroll that had a too-thick wrapper on it with mushy ingredients inside. The Spinach Artichoke Dip menu description said it would be baked, but it definitely was not hot and the cheese on top wasn't melted. The French Bread on the side of the dip seemed like one of those already-buttered loafs from the frozen food section of the grocery aisle because they were a bit greasy. What was the worst app though was the "famous" Jim Bob chicken wings. With only a couple of sauce options, we went with the honey garlic. It felt like someone accidentally dumped one of those bear-shaped bottles of corn syrup dressed up as honey all over the plate. There was little meat on the wings, and most of what was on the bone was tough on the inside and lacked crispiness on the outside. The last bite I ended up taking was into a piece of chicken that was actually not cooked enough on the inside - it even more red than pink. Overall- I honestly go here for convenience when I'm visiting my parents and friends in the area. It's a decent place for a drink and a game, but for food, go elsewhere.

One of my favorite spots for Calamari. Must have it with the caper aioli though not the red sauce! The restaurant has a fun interior, clean and family friendly. Service is Average but so is the cost of the great. variety the menu has to offer so it makes up for the issues with service standards.

This place is great. Tons of drink specials and food specials. Food is great as well. I HIGHLY suggest the chicken bacon sliders.

I don't know why everybody is hating on Joe Kool's. It was a great place to watch the Tiger's game with all of the TV's and audio throughout the restaurant. We had chicken fingers, chicken sandwich and a burger -- all three were delicious. The fire vegetable soup was great too. Very good beer selection.

Joe Kool's is one of those places that tries so hard to feel like a dive. Unfortunately they tried too hard, and it just ends up feeling like a Bennigan's. In fact, everything about this place screams "chain" - but to the best of my knowledge, this is the only one around. I kind of think the owners of this place have a bunch of different restaurants/bars under different names to throw hipster assholes like myself off the scent. But i'm not fooled that easily. Atmosphere aside, there really isn't anything good about this place. I came with a female companion, and the servers were extremely rude to us. We got there at around 9:50pm and the server asked us if she could get us a drink. We asked if there were any specials - she said no, drink specials start at 10pm. I said ok then, ask us again in 10 minutes. She rolled her eyes at me, and didn't come back for a good 15 minutes or so. For the entire evening, it was a constant struggle to get any sort of service at all. The two servers on the floor spent most of the night flirting with a table of guys that they appeared to know. Or at least wanted to know. The only time my companion and I were given any attention at all was the occasional stink-eye, or bitchy glare from across the room. Don't bother coming here unless you're with a group of late 20s to 30s trendy douchebag guys, or else the corn-fed chubby blonde waitresses won't even give you the time of day.

I write this review based on one entree... the Meatloaf.... You've got a slice of texas toast, with meat loaf, mashed potatoes, gravy, and a few onion rings stacked on top... Absolutely the best meat loaf I've had at a restaurant. Great flavor to it. Also, the onion rings, while a little on the bigger size than I usually like, are quite tasty as well. The service isn't the best... it's taken a while to get the waitstaff to visit our table for the first time. We tend to try & order right away as we never know when we'll see our waitress / waiter again.

Oh Joe Kool's... My uncle has advocated this place forever. He'll go on about how their long islands are the best around, or how their burger is fantastic, or how you've gotta love their Irish nachos. All of these statements are more or less true, but this but I'm far less enthusiastic as my uncle about their overall prowess. Most of the food is good. Unhealthy, but that's not what we were expecting when we saw that 'K' in kool, right? Decor is slightly tacky, but again with that 'K'. You'll find your fill of televisions here, great for any Detroit sporting event. My main beef with this place is the waitstaff: every time they act like I'm a burden to them. Then you'll get your tab. Ours was $54 tonight (chicken pita, Veggie burger, hot dog kiddie meal, 3 adult beverages ) and I kept asking myself why I didn't go somewhere better.

Service was good, but the food was subpar. Ordered the fish and chips which came with "asian cole slaw". The fish wasn't salted so I had to lather it in tartar sauce. The Asian coleslaw was disgusting. I took one bite and it tasted like raw cabbage and vinegar. When we told the waitress that we didn't care too much for the slaw, she relied that it's often hit or miss. Why would they continue serving this? Best thing about the meal was the fries which is pretty sad.

Maybe I just got lucky because the other reviews are not very complimentary. We came here on our lunch after leaving a previous restaurant who ignored our closed menus for ten minutes. We were seated right away, received our drinks, ordered and our food was out in less than 10 minutes. I even had enough to go to Starbucks and was still back to work on time. My salad was really good and the waitress was very nice and quick. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because the chicken seemed sort of prepackaged. It was definitely not grilled fresh for our lunches but it was still really good so I can't complain. I will definitely go back here at lunch and maybe even check it out after work sometime to get a beer. :)

  • Amber K.

To start- this place is NOT for kids. Although it has a kids menu, the meals include a drink and ice cream: we were told they ran out of crayons, they have no cups with lids, the freezer wasn't working so the ice cream sandwich was a melted mess, and they were over $6. One of the adult wraps was asked for ranch on the side. It came with ranch on it, was sent back, then came again with the side cup of ranch tilted so there was still ranch on it. But they said it was okay since another order, the turkey Reuben, was made wrong and would take a few more minutes anyways. The manager apologized, brought a basket of fries and comped the adult sandwiches. But they advertise waffle fries, everyone got crinkle cut and even an 8-year old complained they were too dry. No need to go if you haven't and no need to go back!

Went here on a Friday night for some chicken wings. It was just me and my husband so I expected to get seated at the bar but instead we got seated b/w a family with 3 kids and a junior league baseball team. The noise was deafening. I don't think our waitress heard anything we said, I asked for coke with no ice and got it with ice both times and she brought my husband an extra galss of beer he didn't ask for. We ordered Calamari, wings and sweet potato fries. The wings were the best of the lot. It was hot and spicy and slathered in sauce. Overall both our favorites. The calamari was so hard and overcooked that we had to send it back. It felt like we were eating rubber. what came out again was a slightly improved version of what we just sent back. Complaining twice didn't seem nice so we just sucked it up. The sweet potato fries never showed up and we had to ask for it twice. It finally arrived an hour later. Our waitress was nice enough to take that off our bill. May come back just for the wings but thats about it.

I use to have many of late nights at Joe Kool's after a long days of slinging shots of espresso at the Starbucks down the plaza. My fellow workers and I would get off late and enjoy some drinks. As other reviewers write, "it's a sport's bar", I LOVE sports bars. This place has tons of tv's and is usually playing each event that is going on that day. The food is win, bar food. Who doesn't love greasy bar food? I usually stick with some sort of chicken sandwich. The chicken stripes are also very tasty. Their fries are addicting, when you dip them in the ranch dressing. There is out door seating for those amazingly warm summer night that you just want to sit out in the night and drink a beer.

Rating this place mostly as an eatery, only somewhat as a bar. Fish 'n' chips - less than average. Chips were crinkle cut and cold. Fish was greasy (yes, it was fried, but was the oil too cool?) Service - slow.... "Sit here." -----Gone 5 mins. " Drinks? " ----Gone 5 mins. Drinks arrive. ----Gone 5 mins (no question if we were ready to order, which we were..) Back for order.. Order placed. ----Gone 15 mins (gone fishing?) Food arrives. Gone.. No check if everything was OK. Check arrives, give payment, back in 1 minute. We go. Beer selection - pretty good. We've been there before for drinks. And it was fun, but the service was still iffy. Verdict: OK sports bar, No-K food bar.

I've given this place a couple of chances. Over priced, the waitress's are awful like they never had to work a day in their lives. The only reason I give 1 star cause the food was ok but WAY overpriced! It's like they don't want your money "hello does anyone work here?"

While nothing special, I'd say that it's decent for pub food and drinks. The prices are reasonable and I personally I think that the food is better than B Dub's next door. I'd give it 3.5 stars. The service isn't spectacular and I can see how the ambiance seems like they're trying too hard, but it's not bad...there's definitely a lot worse in Troy.

I've only been here once and it was last summer.. but the experience stuck in my head. Group of 5 of us sat outside. Waiter took our drink orders and came back to take our food orders. There was something I thought sounded good but it had mushrooms in it so I asked the waiter "are the mushrooms big to where I can easily pick them out or are they chopped really small?" His answer was "If you dont like mushrooms just order something else" WOW NICE ATTITUDE.. I changed my order to a southwest chicken wrap which came with fries. Waiter came back to ask how we were and I asked for a side of Ranch dressing... His response "Yeah.. cuz ranch is good for you!" I could not believe he said that, and neither could the other 4 people at my table. I said "Excuse me?!?" he said "Woops" and came back out with a side of ranch. I didnt ask you to be my dietition, nutritionist, or my workout trainer! He knew he messed up because when he came back he was like "Oh i love ranch, i eat ranch on everything, I even dip my cigarettes in ranch!" trying to be funny... didnt work! I was disgusted at his attitude and smart ass remarks.. Let's just say he didnt get a tip from my boyfriend and I! Food was good, service was a joke!

It's a place to grab a beer. It is so tacky that it feels like a chain, but surprisingly it is not. Nothing to see here, folks. Move along. I prefer b-dubs next door for an after work drink.

Joe Kool's is the place where when my friends ask where we're hanging out, no one says this place first, but no one really has anything bad to say about it. It's a sports bar hardcore. Lots of TVs, plenty of beer on tap (even PBR. Gross.) and a friendly staff. The food is a step above typical bar food. The BLT is massive and amazing. My heart thinks otherwise, but I like it. They also have Miller High Life, which is awesome because I can drink it without being surrounded by hipsters. There's a very small outdoor patio but is very comfortable. The inside is quite large and can fit a whole bunch of people. The music is pretty typical of the East Troy crowd. So much Bon Jovi. So much. All in all, this is a nice casual place that is a sometime welcome change from the chains that clutter Troy.

There's got to be a pretty good reason for me to frequent a sports bar, I don't like sports really, if at all. But Troy's Joe Kool's has fantastic tasting food and a great list of wine and beers that makes me a regular at this restaurant. Joe Kool's offers a pretty standard menu of bar food with fish and chips, salads, burgers, and such. What makes them above par is the fact that they are consistently flavorful and fresh. The spinach and artichoke dip is awesome with a blend of melted cheeses and fresh spinach combined to make a flavorful appetizer. The fish and chips are a hearty portion of deep fried, heavy battered cod served with perfectly cooked fries. Kool's also offers hefty salads, fajitas, and panini's to sooth that growling stomach. In addition, Joe Kool's offers a great list of beers from Budweiser to Bell's and a fairly healthy wine list. And for the sports nut Joe Kool's offers several big screen TVs that are continually turned to tennis, basketball, football, and baseball. So, whether you're looking to grab some grub or nurse a beer while watching the Tigers, Joe Kool's is a energetic and lively environment to do it in.

Hmmm. Thats how I feel about this place; I went last night for a MSU game and even though their drink specials are pretty good the service is slow. The food..well if you're telling me the food is better than hospital food on your menu thats just plain mean. My cousin and her husband ordered the joe cools wings which have their own special sauce ( meijer honey.. thats it ) and spinach dip. The wings were hmmmm; well they weren't special but just tossed in honey without any seasonings. I don't know how you can screw up wings? If you fry wings that are frozen it has to be at a higher temp so the outside ends up crunchy but uncooked in the middle. It was such a simple mistake that I just cant forgive. The dip was alright but I think actually use a pre made dip not made in house because I could taste the after frost in it. I did order their steak sandwich and that was very good ! but the bread was way to thick and could have benefitted being pressed on a panini press since it was a very thick foccaccia. Overall I wouldn't come back here unless i had too and they used to be decent a couple years ago but the level of quality has definitely gone down.

This hit the spot for us today. We drove from A2 up to Troy in search of Crate&Barrel...but by the time we got there, it was clear we were going to need to refresh ourselves before attempting to take on any kind of mall situation. We were driving up and down Big Beaver Rd., pulled into this shopping center because it seemed to have lots of food, and picked this place because it wasn't obviously a chain, or at least it wasn't something we'd been to before (aren't we, the creatures of unbreakable habits, getting good at trying new places and things??) Atmosphere inside was sort of like Buffalo Wild Wings meets TGIFridays meets Max & Erma's. Clean, spacious sports bar with lots of "flair" all over the walls (not all over the servers though, luckily for them). SK enjoyed the many giant screens featuring all the football one could want, and even I enjoyed a little bit of sports in the background--not having cable at home must really be getting to me! Food was tasty! I had the half pizza and soup special, with French onion soup (extra fee of course, for the French onion. Le sigh). The soup was tasty but a bit on the salty side. But I was impressed with the pizza! Much better than I was anticipating. Fresh toppings, crisp crust, and mild, sweet sauce--just how i like it. It was a bit heavy on the cheese--but then again maybe it only seemed that way because I'm the fool who ordered soup with a 1/2" cheesy cover, followed by pizza. SK enjoyed his burger, which did look quite tasty from across the table. I was intrigued by the Asian peanut cole slaw I saw on the menu, but didn't get to try it. Also noticed that sweet potato fries were an option with one sandwich (the fish sandwich), but not listed as a choice anywhere else, not even on the sides menu. Share the yammy goodness! In and out for under $25, and our server even pointed us in the direction of Somerset Collection (what a weird name for a mall!), where C&B is located. We probably won't have an occasion to go back--it's not worth driving almost an hour for on its own merit--but it was just what we were looking for today.

This is an average but lively sports bar to grab a drink & watch "the game" in Troy. It's a sports bar with tons of screens, people, and above average drink prices. I've noticed that the wait staff here is generally rushed, snappy, and not sociable. That, I can put up with - but when coupled with above average drink prices for a suburban sports bar and mediocre food - it makes for a bad mix. I've gotten some different food items here before. I got the fish & chips once - and the fish was more soggy than crispy - and I got nachos once which were HUGE (a plus) - but was decorated with a lot more veggies, and could have used a few more oz. of ground beef (a negative). My girlfriend and I got pizza here once and the pizza was inferior to most $5 pizza joints. I will give the benefit of the doubt and say that a further investigation of the menu may yield better options here. The overall look/feel and ambiance of the place is on point for a good, clean and typical sports bar. It's just too bad that they don't do anything great enough to make it a favorite for me. The huge parking lot with the Buffalo Wild Wings just doors down is a plus, too, just so you have the option! So all-in-all when you want the convenience of a nearby sports bar to watch the game - consider Joe Kool's - but unless you catch weekday or Happy Hour deals - be prepared for mediocre bar food, somewhat pricey drinks for the suburbs, AND snappy/brief staff. I gave the 3 stars because Joe Kool's celebrates mediocrity, and is in a convenient location, offers plenty of TV screens, and wide selection of drinks & beers. Seeing as I like more unique places, I think the beer Blue Moon describes just how often I like to go here.

My Niece & Nephew were in town from St. Louis. Originally from Michigan and still huge Red Wings fans, business took them south. They proudly wear Winged Wheel regalia... in Blues territory. So when they came into town yesterday. It seemed appropriate to meet at a sports bar to watch the Wings dismantle the Blue Jackets. Let's Go Red Wings... So we had about 15 people meet at Joe Kool's in Troy. And to our surprise, we were able to get a table large enough to fit us with only about a 15 minutes wait. Joe Kool's has large screen monitors all over the place. Whether at the bar or at a table, you'd have to actually work to find a seat where you can't see the game. The atmosphere was great. Each crushing check applied by a Wing, generated a hoot and applause. Each Wing goal raised the roof. Beer selection was good with lots of choices on tap. Food was good pub grub kind of stuff with a few great surprises. The Coconut Shrimp with Plumb Sauce was tasty and the Irish Nachos were outstanding. Instead of corn chips, the base was thick crunchy potato chips. And the chips stood up quite well to the melted cheese. Service was a little disappointing. I'll paraphrase an old Grand Funk Railroad song from the '70s. Sweet, sweet connie -- doin her act, She blew a good tip and thats a natural fact I was a designated driver for the night and once I got to my 2-pint limit, all I wanted was a glass of water. I asked four times and never received one. Finally I got up and walked to the bar where the bartender and manager was talking. I ordered a glass of water and the manager looked at me with this "what wrong" look. I said I ordered water 4 times and never received it. He asked where I was sitting, I pointed to my section. He said "Oh... Connie..." I got my water refills from the bar the rest of the night. So I handled the service with my first sub-20% tip of the year. No, I'm not a cheap bastard... It's just simple things make a difference. This review would have been 4-stars had the manager done something other than grunt. One last thought... Let's Go Red Wings!
