I was always curious about this place because I live across the street and had never been. I got the chance to go for a coworker's going away party/happy hour this past Thursday. We had a large group, though I didn't know most of them (my company has about 300-400 people), and there was a reserved table. A waitress came up to me as soon as I got there and asked if I wanted to order anything. I was able to order some food later on through another waitress. CJM's is pretty large, I could see it being fun to go there when a football game is on or something. Nothing fancy but definitely a sports bar vibe going on. I tried a grapefruit beer which was actually really delicious (normally I dislike beer) and I had their $2.95 HH slider, which came with onions, cheese if you want, chips, and a pickle. Their happy hour food menu is pretty good, too. CJM isn't a place I'll frequent but I might drop by for HH another time.

I came in for a LARGE, reserved business party with my company and all of our sister companies. Keep in mind there are millions of dollars in one room here tonight. The wait staff was rude all evening, I even stood there and listened to a waitress disrespect our whole party to a passerby, as she stood there eating soup and texting. I do not drink, but I paid tabs for people and tipped well all evening. The bar staff lost my credit card for a few hours, and treated me like it was MY fault when I was concerned about its whereabouts. There was not ONE server in here smiling or with a good attitude. I served and bartended for years, so I know that parties like this can be a nightmare. But this one was reserved, we showed up on time, and we tipped well. This is sad.

I usually go to the Cj Mahoney's in Rochester but once in awhile I'll come to this location. I was here about a month ago and had terrible service. I believe they were a little short staffed for a weekend night, but we should not get to be treated the way we did. We had a table for 6, we ordered drinks and food. When our waitress came back to see if we wanted more drinks, a few people at my table were not ready for a second round but asked for waters and our waitress told us "No we're out of water." We laughed in response because we thought she was joking. She said, "No I'm serious, I'm too busy to get you waters. But do you want another round of beers or drinks because I won't be back for awhile." What, are you serious?? What waitress says "I'm too busy to get you water?" That was rude and uncalled for! A few people in my party left and a few new people showed up. We ended up staying for several hours but we had to go to the bar for drinks because our waitress wouldn't check on us. I'm leaving 3 stars because the food is usually good and I usually have pleasant experiences here.

It's a laid back Irish themed pub. There's a huge chalkboard with drink specials and shots to choose from. Lots of tv's for sports. 2 pool tables, darts, buck hunter, basketball, and golf video game. We had BBQ pizza and Irish nachos for appetizer. The waitress Trisha was very nice and was always stopping over to see if we needed anything.

Wasn't the greatest experience I ever had. Went there for a work Christmas party and waited for a menu for 45 minutes. It was very loud in there where we were seated and was hard to talk to co workers. One of my co workers asked if we could order our food and the waitress said yeah whenever you want. We shouldn't have to to ask to order our food.. Also my glass of water sat empty for awhile and I had to flag a waitress down to ask for more. The ribs were really good though.

Loooooong wait. Long wait. Good to watch a game, food was okay, but the wait was stupid.

Went there today 6/26/14 to watch the US v Germany World Cup game for lunch. What a debacle. We ordered our food at 12:10 and it didn't show up until 1:25. Not once did a manager stop by to see us, check on us, apologize, offer something else... The waitress tried to appease us a half hour in with a free round of drinks. By the 45 min mark she was avoiding us. By the 1 hour mark she was hiding from us. Food finally came and still no manager to check on us. The took the drinks off of our bills, but by then a few of our party had already left and never got to eat. I get it, big game and you got slammed with 1 big seating, but for Pete's sake, you're a sports bar. This should not be your first rodeo. The food was average. Hard to screw up a club sandwich and fries, I don't think I'll ever go back there to watch a game.

Food isn't bad here, service isn't bad. A little slow though especially for lunch. I ordered a cup of chili and tenders. The waitress seemed friendly enough, although a little rushed. I've been here twice and it's fine. Would recommend for lunch, haven't tried dinner. Not bad

Our waitress kaylyn spilled water over us and wounldnt even apologize to us. She didnt even get us plates to eat in. When we informed the waitress that we had water fall over us she asked us if we would like to change places rather than apologize. We visit this place usually but were very disappointed with the customer service this time. I dont think we will go back here again

This has to be the most accommodating restaurant/bar in the business. Not to mention, the excellent food, service, and atmosphere!

This place has some nice daily deals. Got the sliders and beer for under 10. Service is uber slow though.

A group of 6 of us came on a Friday Night for a simple midnight snack and drink and left inraged! The bar is nice. Lots of tv's and tables, An area to play games, and a great size bar in the middle. Our waitress was adorable and fun. The food was even great. But the "owner" is a pervert. As soon as the guys we are with leave to play pool a black bald gentleman approaches our table yelling for to "remember one thing tonight" as he pulls up his shirt to show us his gut. He continues showing us everything under his shirt but we have all turned away by then in discuss. He then says he's the owner and he was gonna pick up are tab but not now and f*** white girls. At this point I'm mad and wanna complain but this "owner" is talking to everyone and hugging the blonde that I am sure would be the manager I would have to talk to. I gave up and just asked the guys if we could just leave. Clearly when they hear what happened they handled things a little too angry so we had to go. I am understanding of that but not of this guy who is NOT the owner and sexually harassing girls out of the bar and even worse... claiming to own the place. Later I found out his name was Darnell and he was a regular. The only thing they claim will happen is that Darnell will get a talking too. Wow thanks. I will be sure to not come back and tell other females the same. But if your looking for a fight you can count on it. Even some tiny roded out dude ran out side to say "lets go its my last night". Though he may be gone Darnell is still there making sure all girls our uncomfortable. So disappointed!

We had our old company reunion here, got here early got my bar test burger (Black & Blue) and nice 22oz Labatt Blue Lt $3 prices are good but the Lime Light Bar in Warren way beats CJ's B&B Burger! Why 4 Stars...the Bar Maids & Waitstaff are some real knockouts! As you can tell by the pics!!

This place is a favorite of my co-workers, so I am here fairly often. They have a decent selection of tap handles and the specials are usually decent - the beer of the month is only $3.75! The food is typical bar food, but surprisingly they have a few vegetarian options. They have lots of TVs (including at the booths FTW!) and Detroit games can have sound. This would be another place to sneak out to during March Madness day games. They also have some patio seating.

First time here. It seems like a cool place to watch a game. Ordered a burger and it was pretty good. Prices are reasonable.

It's rare that any of my friends goes to CJs unless it's to continue a night out after another bar closes. Because it's open late and close to Kona Grill, we head there because we're not quite ready to go home. CJ Mahoneys is an interesting place to people watch, NOT the place to go for a classy experience, complex cocktails, or a great selection of more than beers and mixed drinks. They have beer specials, and we often go for whatever is on special for the night. I have never eaten anything other than fries there out of sheer starvation and don't think I would eat here. The music is up-beat but there is no dancing, unless people are drunk and out of control. This is a decent place to watch a game or shoot pool if you're into that kind of thing. But I've seen better bars with a better crowd. Don't bother dressing up, it's a casual, low-key place to grab a drink. The music is loud though, so if you're planning on great conversation, save it for someplace else. The scantily clad girls get annoying, preferring to listen to any guy seated at your table whether or not you want a drink or have a question. It gets frustrating, they look young, and they make you slightly uncomfortable while they almost crawl ontor your table to talk to the guy who may seated next to you. Don't go here expecting more than a beer and a place to keep your night out going without driving far.

You have to take CJ Mahoneys for what it is, a sports BAR. For watching a game or sporting event it's great. Nice plasmas, and lots of them! And also individual tv's inside booths. The place is quite large too, never really have a problem finding a spot. Service can be hit or miss. Some nights we sit at the bar and don't need to ask for another beverage, some nights I feel like you have to sound a loud horn for them to come over. As far as the food goes, it's your basic bar fare. Nothing fancy, nothing special, if you expect more, go somewhere else. They do have pretty good pizza which is what I usually get with whomever I'm with, never seems to dissappoint.

There were four of us and everybody found something on the menu to satisfy them. The TV in the booth helped; nice beer selection as well.

I have been to Mahoney's a few times. It's very close to my work and it's a pretty convenient halfway point for my friend and I so we have met here for drinks a couple of times. It's definitely good for cheap drinks. Very casual and it's pretty spacious inside. I've never tried anything to eat. The bartenders are always very nice and helpful. I'd have to say my biggest complaint is the clientele. It's about a 4 to 1 male to female ratio. This might sound appealing to some girls. But attractive women proceed with caution. There are a lot of creeps here. At least that has always been my experience. If you're a cute girl I would suggest not going to Mahoney's unaccompanied by a body guard or boyfriend. You will be hit on. Sometimes it's just a few free drinks from an anonymous stranger but other times it's relentless guys whose tactics border on harassment. They don't quite know how to approach you or how to respect your wishes when you decline to give them your number. My friend and I were the recipients of an actual "Call Me Maybe" napkin (see photo) pickup attempt. I guess I shouldn't really complain about any of this because at the very least it's free entertainment. It can be a little uncomfortable and annoying sometimes though. But I guess you can't really blame that on Mahoney's. Over all it's a nice little place to grab a drink. Just remember girls, be wary. ;)

Ok, I really wasn't expecting much at all given the outside of the place BUT once I got inside it was a whole different story... The place is new so it's totally updated with nice flat screen HD TVs...ALSO loved that they have individual TVs at most of the booths too, which is always awesome if you want to watch your own thing. Good, solid, drink prices and selection...I was pleased. Any place that has Tommy Bahama Rum gets an extra star from me! However, the food.....the food I would give 2 stars to-it has a HUGE menu, but I wasn't even that thrilled with my nachos...chips were small and super salty and they use cheese sauce instead of shredded cheese-wtf? My friend didn't like his burger very much and I would tell by looking that the fries weren't good, another friend didn't finish her turkey pita-she didn't complain, but you kinda just knew....As far as the food-stick to the basics...they try to get fancy but I saw a pizza that looked pretty good...chicken fingers, etc. at least until they maybe get more business and up the anti on the food... Now why 4 stars for bad food? We know I love my food...well, as I said drinks AND the crowd!!! FINALLY a place were a late 20 something such as myself doesn't feel like a 40 year old....and it's not expensive place full of poshy Dbags or 45 year olds....it's the perfect cross between the Royal Oak and Birmingham bars....I think anyone in the "too old for Royal Oak" and "too young or too broke or don't want to dress up for most bars in Bham" range would really like it here. Granted, it's secluded out in Troy with nothing else around it, but with a patio and a few friends, a great time will be had.

I only recommend going here to watch games. You don't go to a sports bar expecting gourmet food, and at CJ Mahoney's you definitely don't get gourmet food. I had a poorly made "Southern" Chicken Sandwich accompanied with stale potato chips. Service was nothing to brag about. One of the better places in the Troy area to go watch games; Champs can get a little too crowded for my liking.

CJ's is alright. For me, it's close by. The food isn't terrible; I give it 2 stars. I love the multiplicity of HD flat screens. It's a good place to watch a game. I like it, because like any self-respecting sports bar, they've got a variety of games going on thanks to the satellite TV receivers. That way I'm not stuck wasting an afternoon watching locally televised NFL games if I'm not interested in them. They have been nice enough to indulge my Formula 1 fetish. They've got an okay assortment of beers, and I appreciate that I can get a nice 20oz. draft. I'd be happier if the place were non-smoking. That factor definitely limits the amount of time I'm willing to spend there.

Lot's of HDTV's for the games. Beer was cold. Normal standard fair for todays good sports bars. Ordered a Tavern burger. Medium with no grilled onions, but with uncooked onions. It came well done with grilled onions. Cold onions on the side. I told the waitress, who was very nice. I showed her the patty that I had cut with my knife. She sent for another one. This one came back again well done. Unbelievable. It was like cardboard. I cut it open again and showed her. I tried to eat it. She took it off my bill but dollars be to doughnuts, the guy cooking is probably still employed. Not going back. I could teach a ten year old to make a medium hamburger.
