Tracey and Victor make everything from scratch. Homemade specials are great, including the Friday fish frys and spareribs.

This is the second time we went to The TV Deli Diner. We were very the first time was last Friday night when we had Pork Chops and the Lake Perch Dinner. The portions were generous and the food was wonderful. This time we had the Baby Back Ribs and they were very good, meaty and cook nicely. They were tender yet you have to chew them off the bone. The sauce was good, a little sweet with tanginess. I prefer something with more bite to the sauce and more orange in color then brown but they were very good and I would order them again. I think it was a Friday night special item as it was on the board with several nice sounding fish entrees. My wife liked the pork chops so well from last week she ordered them again. The sides were good and the little sweet potato dessert was nice as well as the mixed berry pie. I had the Clam Chowder soup both weeks and it was good and consistent both weeks. I can hardly wait to try the Lobster Bisque I've heard about and looking forward to doing the Pig Roast on a Wednesday. Nice place for a good meal come hungry...

First of all, this place is dingy and dirty when you walk in. The booths have tears in them...patched with duct tape. The ceiling tiles and air ducts are covered with dust and don't look like they have have been washed. The first time I ever ate there, I got 2 hairs in my food-two different hairs from 2 different people. One was baked into the topping of my bread and the other mixed into my mashed potatoes. The ribeye I ordered medium was past well and extremely thin. The gravy was definitely from a mix. The bread was good (before the one with the hair in it) and the cheese curds were a nice app. The only thing that tasted homemade was the cheesecake which was tasty. However due to the lack of cleanliness, saw of the girls sweeping then get a dessert out the dirty dessert case without washing her hands on her way out of the restaurant, the hairs in my food, and the fact that nearly everything seems straight from a can, I will never go back. I don't understand what all the hype is about.

TRY THE LOBSTER BISQUE (it's only on Saturdays), but it is absolutely amazing. I wish I could drink the stuff. My only complain is that they don't serve breakfast all day like many area coneys/restaurants, but boy... try the Creme Brulee waffle!

never been inside but have ordered using their online menu. very large menu selection. priced reasonably. food was 50/50. one time i ordered the chicken ceasar wrap and it was spot on (with the BEST pasta salad i have ever had). the other time i ordered the chicken ceasar and it was a bit lack-luster. however, the pasta salad was still to die for. yum, yum, yum! i will go back and try something else and maybe even go inside for the whole diner experience. i'll review again and maybe upgrade my rating (or vice-versa). overall, pretty good food and super good pasta salad.

TV's is the full package. Consistent great food at a great price. The seasonal specials are fresh and prepared with originality. Whenever I am remotely close I will stop by.

Got a takeout of pea soup which was pretty good and 1/2 corned beef sandwich that looked like it was tossed into the container, had to put the sandwich back together before I could eat it. After the reviews I will give it another try and have better luck.

I found this place by accident. I sold the owners of this diner a white Jeep Wrangler, decided to go and check it out. Wow... they have everything. I drink long islands and crown and cokes, and they serve alcohol, big plus... but it's not a bar atmosphere, it's an everybody atmosphere with kids and all. I love the bisque, I love the club sandwiches, burgers, and chicken. I recommend this place to everyone, because often times one may think, I'm not in the mood for a diner... wrong attitude with this place, because it's serves it all. Very relaxing, very friendly, once you try it , I assure you that you will be back.

MMM yummy! The lobster bisque is great, and the fresh bread basket is yummy! I always get the turkey reuben, and my boyfriend and I get the saganaki. The desserts are awesome...try the carrot cake! Not only do I eat here on a pretty regular basis, I use them to do all of my catering at work. Last summer they catered a party for 800 people for me. Tracey and Victor are very nice and accommodating. You can tell that they take pride in their business. I would recommend them for dinner or catering!

I have passed by this place for nearly 20 years and never stopped. I suppose a big part of the reason is that it just doesn't look that appealing from the outside. My wife finally talked me into stopping in. When we first walked in I was still unsure. It has a classic diner interior but looked a bit well worn. The service was excellent and friendly. I was impressed by the menu as it goes a bit beyond what you would expect to find in similar diners in the area. The lobster bisque was simply amazing, I think the best I have ever had. The lobster mac n cheese was also excellent. The Philly steak n cheese omelette was delicious as was the corned beef sandwich. The home fries were a bit dry but not too bad. The prices were very reasonable and they have a frequent diner plan. I wish I had stopped in here much sooner. It is a very good local diner and I expect to be eating there frequently.

I really want to give them a higher score because the service was outstanding and everyone else at the table had amazing food, but my shrimp scampi was rancid. I mean literally as in something in it was spoiled. My dad, sister and I all took a bite and we all had to spit it out. I didn't order anything else, and they took it off the bill with no issues. I've never had bad food from here before, and as I said everyone else had amazing food.

I'm somewhat torn between 3 and 4 stars.... Ehhh will go with 3 more like 3 and a half but not an option anywho.. I've had a groupon for this place for like over two months. It expires at end of the month. So today I finally talked my significant other to dine here with me today, he was not to eager to give T.V's a visit since his work had ordered carry out before there and to say the least he wasn't impresed. On our way there, I asked what he had ordered before? A burger he said it was overcooked and dry. My reply get something else then. The menu is big checked it out online. I had heard from yelp the lobster bisque rocks and I love lobster bisque. Upon arrival place was pretty empty only a few tables. We were greeted and seated promptly by our server. Our server was excellent, I asked her about the lobster bisque, she said it was good but very filling and a cup is actually a bowl. I was torn they also had chicken chili, but I went with the bisque since that was my main reason for visiting. The bisque was very good, very and I mean very rich and was served with some delicious french bread. I also ordered the greek chicken pita which was decent but I ended up boxing it up cause the soup was sooo filling. To my exasperation my better half ordered wait for it.. A burger which again was overcooked and dry. Awe crumba, I know, I know I don't get it either! T.V's is a cute little diner. Service good, food decent, soup great, however I will say a bit overpriced for a diner, although they do have a full bar. I saw a few things on menu I'd like to try. More then likely I would go back.

Great Prices, Great atmosphere, Great menu, Great Food!!! Stopped in here for Sunday breakfast and I was pleasantly surprised. Usually I spend my Sunday's downtown Detroit exploring different gastro-like food brunch spots so the run of the mill coney island breakfast specials just don't do it for me. Inside it is very "50's style diner". You do get a feel of it being a bit dingy- old but overall the floors, tables and silverware are clean and the staff were all friendly. You could tell a lot of regulars dined here. There was no wait, but they had a steady flow of people throughout my dining experience. Service was quick and on-point. Our food didn't take long at all. The prices are all very reasonable and they serve alcoholic drinks!!!! Yes, they have bloody mary's for only $4.50 and mimosas with fresh squeezed orange juice. Their bloody mary's were excellent. You could tell they use tomato juice and some fixings instead of a bottled mix. For around $8 I ordered the BT Benedict (Bacon Tomato Benedict). It came with a side of cheesy grits of house potatoes. Most places I've been the order just comes with the Benedict and it is priced around $9, $10. I liked they had a variety of benedicts to order. The grilled tomato and crispy bacon paired awesomely with the hollandaise sauce and poached egg. My friend had the classic Benedict and the piece of Canadian ham on the English muffin was thick and very generous. Both potions were very generous. I couldn't even finish my helping. I only glanced at the lunch and dinner menu, but I'm sure the food is just as tasty! If you're looking for a laid back reasonably priced place to dine with family or close friends I would recommend this place in a heart beat!

I don't know how I heard about this place, but I had it bookmarked for a while, and finally got a chance to stop in yesterday and check it out. Some of it was good, some of it was not, but overall, not a terrible experience. For starters, the place is uniquely decorated. Black and white checkered table clothes, along with an outstanding menu with tons of stuff to choose from! The date and I had a hard time deciding what to get, but we finally settled on our dishes. I went with the half sandwich and soup, and the date got chili and a burger. I was surprised at how big the bowl of lobster bisque was! It was tasty, but maybe a bit heavy on the cream, but still good none the less. The date's chili was good, and so was his burger and fries. The server was pleasant, but seemed a bit nervous at times. As a side note, I will say, I did walk in and notice that a cheesecake was sitting on the counter unattended on a plate that looked like someone had served it up and forgot to put it away. It was still there when we left. Also, the sandwich I had was okay. Not the greatest, but not the worst either. I thought it was to come with lettuce tomato and all the fixings, but it was just pastrami with cheese on toasted white bread. I didn't think about it until after I left. The bisque was so filling, and we both were so hungry that I don't think either one of us noticed. Overall, this place is okay, and I'm willing to give it a shot a few more times. The menu is large enough that there's plenty of other stuff to choose from, and I'm willing to come back in the future when I'm on this side of town. Prices are more then fair, and they usually have groupon vouchers if your interested.

I was given a Groupon as my son wanted to try this place badly. First we walked in and were ignored. On the way to the table a knife was dropped and never replaced. Our server was almost nonexistent from the get go. Refills on soda just never happened. My meat was ice cold! My son's burger came out with gobs of cheese when I specifically said no cheese and when I pointed it out it was carried to the kitchen, scraped off, and brought right back so he wouldn't eat it (he's a pain and said he could smell cheese). The horseradish sauce was a paper cup of sour cream. I paid my bill in full including a token tip and on the way out quietly mentioned I would not be returning when suddenly my server appears and has the nerve to raise her voice and be confrontational. The manager was very nice and apologized even offering a gift certificate to return. While I appreciated her offer it makes no sense to me what so ever. Did she not hear me when I said I paid my bill and am done with this place?

My family & I go to breakfast semi-regularly here, food is good, service is good (and they remember our drink choices).

I have always had a good meal any time I've eaten there. The waitstaff is friendly and efficient. The mood and overall decor and ambiance is upbeat. In short all good. Except-except-the beer selection is disappointing. The do not serve even one IPA. I hope the owners update their beer list soon. Other than that I highly recommend TV Diner.

Honestly not sure how this establishment has more than 2-3 stars. Talk about bland food! Nothing was salted or seasoned. Actually, that's a lie. The one thing that my whole family ordered that had any taste was the infamous lobster bisque. This overpriced bowl of destruction consisted of HEAVY, HEAVY CREAM, salt, and some other heart attack inducing ingredients. Oh, and like a piece or two of lobster. It was too salty. Also very heavy. And overpriced. Although the rest of our plates were very large and reasonably priced, you get what you pay for quality wise. As previously stated, everything is tasteless. The "mixed seasonal vegetables" or whatever crap they called it was clearly straight from the can or freezer bag (not to mention it had no flavour). Staff was very kind, which was a relief. But the interior is severely cramped and out dated. Stay away.

When I first tried TV's it was for breakfast a few years ago. The menu offerings were better than your typical coney place and the coffee made it worthwhile. Nothing worse than 'dirty water' that is supposed to pass for coffee. But the last visit really turned me off. This place is D-I-R-T-Y!! I had to ask for clean silverware 3 times!! The general ambiance is grubby at best and that leaves me wondering what the kitchen is like. If you can't keep your service pieces clean, are you practicing good sanitation elsewhere? It's really too bad... They had a good breakfast menu.

Well I hate to write derogatory reviews but when needed I feel obligated to do so. Wife, Mother, and I went to TV's Deli & Diner for dinner since we were in the area. Pulling up you could tell it was a family owned diner (which I like) but was fairly run down on the outside. Do I think looks make the quality of food? Not at all but cleanliness help my first impression and this was not. Upon entering, the staff was very nice but the impression continued. Stuff cluttered around the front desk, tables wiped off but not clean, and the menus were covered in filth! It's not hard... Menus need to be cleaned people!! Sitting at the counter was a young kid, probably in his 30s that was mumbling to himself and to others. He was def on some type of drug. He was sweating and started yelling profanity and the cooks and to the air. Eventually someone came over and asked him to be quiet but he should have been asked to leave a long time ago. Still looking forward to the food we ordered and we were not impressed. 2 of us ordered the "famous" lobster bisque and we were disappointed on how salty it was. Believe me; I like salt as much as the next person but this was unbearable. We didn't eat either of them. Wife ordered the mushroom swiss burger and was not impressed. It wasn't terrible but was not impressed. Mother ordered the fish. She did like the fish and said that she would order it again but probably by carry out only. I ordered the turkey Rueben and it was made with sliced turkey lunchmeat. A family style dinner and you don't have any real turkey? Frencj fries were good but when aren't they?!?!?! With all that said I understand is a small dinner that keeps prices down by serving a particular type of food. I know this type of restaurant has it place but it's not for me. The price is fair and the food is... ehh... maybe fair. My suggestion would be clean the place (top to bottom and often) and really specialize on a few dishes. I also suggest everyone try TV's for yourself because this review is my opinion and yours may be different.

Ordered takeout. Spend $36.00 and it was horrible. The $12 Mac and cheese I ordered tasted like an under seasoned Alfredo. And it came in a leaking cardboard box. The fill dip that came with the fried green beans had some weird rice in it. About 10 minutes after I ordered, I got a callback to tell me they were out of the soups I ordered. So I picked another; out of that one too. So I went with a third choice, and asked for only one. She said I had to pick two soups, because I had already paid. Bottom line, the food was bad and the prices were high.

Honestly, I love their food! I had the lobster bisque and it's the best I've had since I was at the Red Fox. My friend and I split the Angry Shrimp dish with a side of mashed potatoes and corn. The shrimp & potatoes were very good, but I did save some of my bisque for my last bite. My friend had the corn on the cob & I didnt ask her how it was, but she ate it all. I also had a Double Chocolate Martini, it was the first time I had it so nothing to compare it with, but it was good. We are planning to return often. Oh, parking can be an issue so it's best to take as few cars as possible.

I'm gonna keep this short and simple. In one word excellent! Awesome food and good service. Have been there for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Meals to accommodate those times of the day is perfect, good food all around. Even the desserts are great and huge portions. Need to try the pig roast Wednesdays however.

  • Mia C.

Love their soups, especially the lobster bisque. The burgers are great, and the blue plate specials are always a good value. For breakfast, they have a few varieties of eggs Benedict, and they are all amazing (the hollandaise sauce is homemade). They also make some great homemade desserts, but some are not homemade, so always ask which ones are.

Dirty and outdated, with emphasis on"dirty." No thank you. Yelp will not let me post without at least one star.... But really, no.

Tried this place on a recommendation. I had the country breakfast. Poached eggs were good and biscuits good. Gravy had a vinegar taste. Husband had the Philly omelette and said it was good. Overall ok. OJ out of a store bought gallon. My issues... The place is FILTHY!!!! The kitchen is disgusting. Dirt, grease, dust, mold everywhere. The parking lot smells of trash. I watched the dishwasher put clean dishes on the filthy floor over and over again. I saw them pour water in dirty pitchers and serve. I saw the waitresses put their hands on the food and serve it. I could not get past the filth. I usually sit at a counter when possible to get a view of the kitchen when I first try a place. OMG. After the good food reviews I had high hopes. The floors are disgusting. Under the counters, tables, floor boards, ceiling tiles etc. the place looks like it hasn't been cleaned in years and definitely needs a visit from the health department. Won't be back until they clean it up.

My wife and I eat here often. We have yet to have a bad experience. I would describe this place as a diner but just a bit more refined; the menu is a bit more chef-driven. They always are featuring some good specials on a daily basis. Must haves are the lobster bisque, the burgers, and the carrot cake. Keep up the good work!

  • Scott S.

Really good food but the service was subpar. We were asked if we wanted boxes 5 minutes after getting our food. Server took my half full pop glass and she never came back. There was a dessert charged on our bill that we never ordered. Lobster mac and cheese was good with big pieces of meat. We'd probably go back because of the menu but hopefully have a different server.

Probably the best breakfast place in downriver. The grits are unreal and the coffee comes with actual cream to pour, sounds trivial but the details are what makes this place great.

What a weird place!!! I have family that live in Brownstown and they said that "TV's never has a bad meal, everyone loves TV's" So I was all about going and trying something new to yelp about!! It wasn't exactly what I expected walking in. It's a diner/family place that doesn't look to hold more than 40 people (maybe??) and right away the wind was knocked out of my sails... Great, another coney diner.. Cuz Michigan doesn't have enough of those! We waited at the front for a spell while people cleared out. The whole time my cousin bragging about the lobster bisque, but awwwww, it wasn't Saturday!! We finally sit down and get menus. At this point i'm just "whatever" about being there. I ordered the whitefish off the specials board (looked more promising than it actually was) and some split pea soup. My cousin ordered some scallop dish from the board that she was immediately told they were out of. I think they wrangled one order together and my cousin and her hubby split it. The pea soup was really watery and had no flavor, and no ham chunks. Epic fail. Cousins going on more about the amazing lobster bisque. If only it wasn't Friday!! : / The whitefish came with frozeon peas (oh boy!!) and a baked potato. The skin was real slimy and the topping was burnt on one part but barely cooked on the other. I ate all my baked potato. I heard they make really good desserts, but I didn't waste any more of my money, as the fish was 13.95. I won't be going back. Not even on Saturday. Sorry, just not for me. /Stagnant!

One word - YUCK!!! When I saw this place featured on Under the Radar Michigan I was excited to try it out. What I left was irritated and disappointed. Our server had a serious attitude and acted as if we were bothering her when when we asked for something as simple as extra napkins. The food was gross- sad crumbs if crumbled turkey- dry " home made mashed potatoes". Everything about our "meal" and I use that term loosely for this place - was bad. I would not suggest this abomination of an eatery to anyone who expects good food or good service. Thanks but no thanks I'll take my business elsewhere...

So I've been here a couple times now and I have really mixed feelings. To their credit, the menu has lots of variety and cool, atypical dishes. The lobster bisque is a constant and a solid choice for a first-timer (the accompanying bread is delicious too). Last year I had the crab benedict for breakfast and it was really great. Shoulda got it again but I tried the berry pancakes this time. The berries were clearly frozen, processed, whatever, gross. My mom had a breakfast special and her eggs were good. They were generous with my side of bacon, and that was also solid. I ordered a California chicken club for carry out a couple days later and I don't know how to feel about it. The chicken was not dry but nothing special, avocados n everything else were fine, but it was served on a....burger bun? That threw me for a loop and made the sandwich all the more unspectacular. Service is good but not great. With the variety of choices and hit-or-miss nature of the menu, I may be back. I actually would recommend this place, but only to someone with good discretion and who's not afraid to ask questions.

So I ordered this lobster bisque everyone is bonkers about. I take a bite and think to myself "CRAP!!!!" (or something similar that starts with F and ends with UCK). Instantly, I knew that I just screwed over my digestive system HARD because.... ME=lactose intolerant (as of recently) SOUP= VERY heavy in the dairy department therefore, ME+SOUP= pain and suffering It was more of a pudding and less of a soup because of the HEAVY HEAVY cream, but the flavor was pretty good and the chunks of lobster were nice. Overrated though--I wouldn't go back for it. With some doctoring it would be much better and less of an artery clogger. Our waitress was really friendly and made the overall experience pleasant. Quaint little joint--very simple and unassuming. I had the greek pita which was quite tasty. They need to RELAX on the lettuce though because I couldn't even see the pita underneath and there was a huge chunk of iceberg right in the middle. Not the best as far as presentation goes. My fella got the meatloaf which he liked but I didn't try it. Not a bad spot, but nothing too memorable. If it was a fast food stop and the pita was $5 and nearby I'd get it again, but as it is there are tastier and more enticing locales.

My husband and I went for lunch today based on the other Yelp reviews, and although we drove past it the first time, when we did find it, we were very, very pleased with our meal. We both had soup to start. He had pesto bean and I had lobster bisque. I would go back for the soup alone. The lobster was so rich with a fair amount of meat that I was suprised to get it in a diner. I had the jalapeno popper burger special, really good even though I could only eat half after that amazing soup. My husband has a fajita chicken rollup which he ate without looking up, so it must have been good. I took a piece of the carrot cake home. I'd really like to go back and try the breakfast. The only thing that stopped me from giving it a 5 star rating was the atmosphere and service which may have been unfairly impacted by our neighbor diners. We were crammed into a table next to a party of 10 older women who were loud to the point of insanity. Seriously, they may have all been hard of hearing because they were screaming at each other. We'll be back for soup if nothing else. I'm looking forward to that carrotcake tomorrow. It looks lovely.

This is the best dinner downriver. The food is from scratch. The lobster bisque soup is real! And fantastic. The salads are amazing with homemade dressings. The breakfast is gourmet. They have eggs benedict, whic is a rare find Downriver. They have special coffee drinks and fresh squeezed orange juice.

Have not had this place since I was a kid but went back today for the first time since. I forgot how good the food really was. The waitstaff was fast and friendly and the decor is like a 50's diner. I will be going back a lot more often. Get the Lobster bisque.

A five-star restaurant hidden in Trenton. When you think of the Downriver area eating scene typically you think of comfort foods influenced by the local Polish, Irish and Italian communities. But TV Diner breaks the mold. This is near-foodie quality cuisine. With the backbone of comfort food that the region adores, but with classy upgrades that bring it into a whole new dimension. As many of the other reviewers mention, the lobster bisque is top dog. Having done significant travel, and now living on the east coast, I truly can say that TV Diner's lobster bisque is some of the best I have ever consumed. They use large quantities of lobster meat so you don't just get the stringy portions that many restaurants offer, but you get spoon-sized chunks throughout the experience. The bisque is only available on Saturday's, but you can buy frozen containers of it any day. Their other daily soup varieties are worth a try, too. They are always introducing new recipes, and I have never had a bad one. They recently started breakfast, which too, is great. Swing by, grab a mimosa, enjoy a fresh omelet and enjoy your day!

My husband and I purchased a groupon and decided to stop in for dinner the other night. We were greeted by the hostess who asked us how many. We said two and a high chair. She looked at us puzzled, and said one second. She walked away and returned with a young man who asked us how many. We told him, he to looked at us puzzled and said one second, and walked away. We were then greeted by a third person, who finally was able to seat us. We sat down, and my husband noticed that the table was dirty. There was also a small plate left on the table from a previous customer. We told the server and she took away the plate, and wiped down the table. I then began looking at the menu when my husband said, "they only gave you one menu?" I said yes. He asked a server for another and she said, "let me see if I can find one." The place wasn't even that busy, and you can't find any menus! My husband spotted them and counted only 8, nobody else in the restaurant was using them, kinda sad. I then took my son to the restroom. It was disgusting. There was an unpleasant odor. Even my 2 year old said "stinky" when we walked in. The floors looked as though they hadn't been cleaned in years. The worst part was the glue trap for mice under the sink. When I returned to the table my husband began to point out all of the walls that were crumbling around the kitchen. My only thought was, if this is how you maintain the area of your restaurant that the public sees, what does your kitchen look like? It made me a bit hesitant to eat the food. We both ordered a burger w/ fries and my husband ordered chili. Burgers were just ok, mine was undercooked (I'm pregnant so I am apprehensive about eating undercooked meat). The chili had a nice flavor, but was more like a soup than a chili. The best part of the meal was the bread that we received about half way through the meal. I'm pretty sure that was supposed to come when we sat down. I will definitely not be returning, even with a groupon. Based on the pics I've seen, it looks like they should stick to catering.

The pasta primavera is amazing here! I love this place. I love soup and have never been disappointed on any of soup they have there. Still haven't had room for any dessert but I'm going to take some home next time. Also, the service has always been great! No complaints, 5 stars!

My family has been going here for years but no matter how often we go, there is always something new to try. The daily soups and chilis, compliment the comfort food menu and best ribs in the area (Fridays only).

TV's is one of our favorite diners to visit. The service and food is consistently great. The fried green beans and carrot cake are to die for. This place is always hoppin' which is nice to see in this poor economical state. Enjoy!

i have not been to this restaurant because I live in Farmington HIlls. However, the other day I called them to order food for 30 people who were attending a funeral. Everything was perfect and the people raved about the food and could not thank me enough. I plan to stop by and have lunch the next time I am in Trenton.

This is an odd place, very capable of a great meal, the problems is the staff and that may be from the top down, I order carry out from time to time and they want a tip and aren't afraid to let you know about it, secondly I've been here before when a group of stuff was just bullshitting while I'm standing at the desk, then there was the time I asked about a piece of the famous cake and I waited and waited the staff came over and I asked how much and was told 4.75 I though it was a lot but ordered it anyway when I looked at my bill which seemed high it was $5.50 I just asked the guy... But here was the deal breaker for me, m wife and I ordered a pasta dish carry out, we have a one year old at home and ordered her the same. They must have catered an event that day and used the boxes they had left over from the event. The problem is they had a napkin in the bottom of each box just pouring the pasta and sauce right over the napkin in three boxes, how do you pour a meal in a box and not look in it? Three times? When I called they apologized and seemed annoyed that I would call, they sent us a gift certificate for 2 entrees, not even a meal just an entree, I'd have been happy with them replacing what we lost but they seemed like no big deal needless to say, my wife was horrified and we gave the certificate to friends and never went back. So the food is great MOST do the time but the service is way hit and miss, they seem very annoyed by take out so if your takin it out you may want to pick another place. Almost feels like walking in a comic shop or something, like to busy for a stranger even though I live a few blocks from this place. It's sad because I do miss the food but the service just got to be awful, and I remember when that place was a burger chef, do yourself a favor and try the roundhouse or the new legends or you may get lucky and have a great meal but you may leave feeling taken advantage of. I just saw all these 5 star ratings and had to say something there is a reason this place would never make it as a chain. Good luck I sneak back in once and a while I do like the food, but service is still a little spotty

Five stars better than a TV dinner. Food was amazing, service was excellent. Six of us went on a Sunday evening after a day on the boat, and TV's was just what we were looking for. First, the food. Everything was amazing. Our family has a place in Trenton, so they knew what they liked. We asked the waitress, who gave us some solid suggestions. Jalapeño popper burger and fried green beans. Both were amazing. The burger had such a unique flavor, and the fried green beans were delicious. The fish special (fish sandwich with coleslaw, cheese, and tartar sauce) was described as "one of the best fish sandwiches I've ever had." The waitress was amazing. Hilarious, very fast, fun, attentive, helpful, and anything else that you could ask for. We were really impressed. Topped off the meal with carrot cake, which was a tad pricey at $5.50 per slice, but was also amazing. Atmosphere is your typical diner, food is not your typical diner food. Overall, very impressed.

Consistently great food. The only downside is hearing a lot of the younger staff have loud conversations across the room or gossip about each other (sort of viciously, actually) by your table.

Hadn't been here in a while, decided to go back for lunch..... I ordered the TV burger.....stuffed with blue cheese and mushrooms. It was tasty, but it would have been nicer to have a burger that was at least the same size as the bun..... as for being stuffed, it was a rather thin burger, I guess I was expecting "stuffed". Also, the Portion of french fries was absurdly small, I would have thought they'd include a regular size portion.... On the absolutely postive side was the carrot cake for desert.....it was fantastic....definitely save room. I'll be back to try something different....

Unfortunately we tend to forget or just drive by this restaurant and that is a HUGE mistake. The menu and food is excellent. I have had their Chicken Pepperkash and it was delicious. Food is priced accordingly and ambiance is nice and casual. Go there, you won't be diappointed.

Finally had the crab bisque. Quite flavorful, and thick. Perch Sandwich had more fish on it then the full perch platter at Fergies. the ciabata bread soft and chewy as it should be.

I've been coming here for a few years now, and like some others here have said, the Lobster Bisque is what keeps me coming back time and time again. I began coming here as a younger Dan, a Dan who had to visit his great grandmother, a Dan who normally HATED that trip back downriver because he was ALWAYS bored at Great Grandma's house. One day, younger Dan's parents took him to TV's Deli & Diner after said visit. Suddenly, trips to Grandma's didn't seem so uncomfortable anymore. Big, old-school diner burgers, freshest of the fresh ingredients and really reasonable prices for the quality and quantity of food you're getting. If you love real, thick sliced, deli sandwiches, they have a number of them that will suit your tastes. Lots of open faced options, really great selection of fish, wraps and HUGE salads. The owners here are very friendly, and are institutions in the downriver area. Trust me, if you go more than two or three times, you'll notice the Regs. A surprisingly decent, yet small wine collection, and while it may not be the most romantic spot I can think of for a night out, the decor is modest and not too heavy on the 50's theme that you might expect from a restaurant with the name TV's Deli & Diner and an exterior that features black and white checkerboard tiling accenting the roofline. If you want home cooking done right, soups that you probably couldn't duplicate in your own home and a full belly that won't empty your wallet, give it a try. They're worth the drive on a Sunday afternoon for the Lobster Bisque alone. They sell it by the quart, but it goes fast!

I had the pesto chicken and it was burnt on the bottom. The waitress was useless. She didn't tell me they served alcohol, I had to ask her what the specials were and she rattled them off so fast I had no clue on what they were. She was not friendly at all and was kinda stuck up. I could tell she didn't want to be there working and couldn't wait to leave. I will give it one more try next time I'm in the area only because all the other positive reviews.

I am going to have to agree with Tom F. - the lobster bisque is awsome (available only on Saturdays). TV's has a diner atmosphere - very casual 1950s-like. I have liked everything I have eaten there. The food is definately not low cal. For example, the lobster bisque tastes like it uses full fat heavy cream - very rich and very good! This is traditional American fare at a very reasonable price. It is great for lunch or dinner. As for Downriver spots - this is a must try.

I have been meaning to check this place out for a long time. Well, after reading the reviews here I made it a priority. I wasn't disappointed. We had great service and the food was really good. I'll be back...

Excellent and fresh menu items and my GOD what great homemade desserts they have here. Its like stepping back to the 50's with the menu items very home cooking -ish but out of the ordinary. Guarantee that you will return many times over to eat here. All the deserts are homemade and sooo yummy, it will make you want to smack your grandma.!

Went for the first time yesterday for a late lunch.. There were four of us. The place was dirty (some of the tables and the carpet). There were quite a few employees working, but they seemed more focused on carry-outs and maybe a catered event. The wait staff were friendly and all seemed happy with their work. Our waitress was prompt and helpful. The first things to arrive were a bowl of Beef Barley Soup for one of my table mates and a small tossed salad for me. The lettuce was old. The dressing (homemade citrus) was good. The Beef Barley Soup looked like dirty dishwater. I didn't taste it because it just did not look worth tasting. Next came our main dishes: Ribeye Steak for me, and for my three table mates: Meatloaf Sandwich, Fish Sandwich, and Chicken Paprikash. Nothing was remarkable. My steak was done correctly, but that's all I can say about my meal. I tasted the fish in the sandwich and it was okay, and I tasted the meatloaf and it was way too salty (and I love salt). I did not taste the chicken in the Paprikash, but I did taste the spaetzle and it was good. The bread basket came with a nice, warm, sliced baguette and good quality butter. The coffee had been cooking on the burner for far too long. When cream was added, it looked gray and tasted burnt. All in all, for the price, they need to step it up a bit. Maybe back off on the huge portion sizes and put some pizazz into the food. The booth did not comfortably seat the four of us (we are not big people), and the tacky silverware wrapped in a cheap napkin does nothing for the setting. The presentation was probably the worst part. Nothing had any 'pop' to its plating. Restroom needs a tuneup, too.

If you're looking for homemade awesome comfort food with a twist, you have to stop by TV Deli and Diner. The lobster roll served on Fridays is awesome, as is the lobster bisque. This is the place that my husband and I love to go to for breakfast - the breakfast sandwich is to die for! Don't just take my word for it, you HAVE to try it!

    (5)
  • Tom F.

Wow! Start with the soups. The lobster bisque is awesome, pea soup is great, fresh baked bread goes with soups. The meal choices start with the daily specials. Friday is fish, the breading not too heavy, and hot! Hot turkey sandwichs are with real turkey, not processed, the hot beef and meat loaf are good as well. Great cajun chicken salad. I have eaten here many times for lunch. Prices reasonable. They also have a frequent diner card that compiles $ for credit on your next meal or accumulate for future. Oh, and the desserts are good too!

Normally, I love this place. We almost always have good food and good service. I especially like their breakfast, but they put on a good lunch and dinner, too. This past Sunday we went in for burgers and were very disappointed {raw hamburger meat? Um, no.}. The service was subpar as well. I've noticed a lot of new faces, both in the kitchen and on the floor so I'm guessing their staffing turnover contributed to this last less than stellar experience. I'll go back again, but if I have another experience they'll be removed from my list of go-to restaurants.

  • Allison F.

Just went here for the first time. I liked it. The service was good, the prices were fair and [most] of the food was really great. I started with what they called a peasant soup... It was a delicious mash-up of chicken and sausage, macaroni noodles and corn. I loved it. I got their pot roast... Yum. Tasted just like mom's used to taste. The fries were "eh"... Wish they were homemade like most everything else. Jake ordered their black bean chili. It looked gross but he assured me it tasted awesome. For his meal, Jake got the Cajun ribeye sandwich. When it came out, we were surprised because it was... straight up... a ribeye on a huge hoagie roll. Jake really didn't like it because, as most people know, ribeye steaks have a lot of fat. If it were sliced, Philly cheesesteak style, I think he may have enjoyed it a little more. We ordered the hot fudge ice cream brownie for dessert. It was really great except for the untold walnuts on the brownie :-( Him and I both hate walnuts, so I wish the menu had mentioned them. Either way, the brownie itself was fresh, hot and decadent. One thing I noticed that I hadn't seen anyone here mention was that they serve beer, wine and alcohol. We didn't order anything, but I thought I'd throw that out there for those who like a nice adult beverage with their dinner. TV's diner was pretty neat. I think we'll be back to give it another go soon.

Had breakfast here and overall it was pretty good. Had the CB hash and eggs. This is the real deal CB hash, not the dog food looking junk out of a can. The poached eggs on top were perfectly cooked. Had the hand cut rye toast that was good. Also tried the biscuits and gravy, but did not care for them. The gravy had a funny aftertaste to me. Service and coffee refills were fine.

For years I had wanted to try this restaurant because I had heard decent reviews and was hoping my hometown, not really known for its culinary prowess had something that was Triple D worthy. So with an open mind and nothing to do on a late Friday afternoon I went in to TV's. Immediately upon entering I got a bad feeling... Part of it was that nobody was there to greet me, The bakery counter looked unorganized, there was what appeared to be crafts all over the counter and one of their cakes was out of the case completely uncovered. So suddenly I was not feeling up to have a big meal as the clutter threw me off. However I decided I needed to try at least one thing So I decided to try the Chilli since this is a menu staple that changes daily. Today was 3 Bean Chilli. Let's just say that I can get canned Chilli better than what I had at this diner. It lacked flavor, and creativity and I also got a big chunk of ground beef. If this is any indication of the rest of their menu then I would stay away... Not sure if I'll give this one another shot.

Stopped in last week for lunch. Had the hot meatloaf sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy. Was very tasty. Service time on getting out my plate was pretty slow however. Took almost half an hour to get my food. Had to hurry up an eat so i wouldn't be late heading back to the office. They do so much carry-out food at that time I believe that is what held up my food. All in all though it is very good food. Maybe next time i will just get carry-out instead of dine in.

Purchased a groupon was excited to try it because I drove by it quite often... I was not impressed at all. The food didn't taste like anything but I can say those oven roasted potatoes had a bit of flavor.

Got a takeout of pea soup which was pretty good and 1/2 corned beef sandwich that looked like it was tossed into the container, had to put the sandwich back together before I could eat it. After the reviews I will give it another try and have better luck.

The pasta primavera is amazing here! I love this place. I love soup and have never been disappointed on any of soup they have there. Still haven't had room for any dessert but I'm going to take some home next time. Also, the service has always been great! No complaints, 5 stars!

TV's is one of our favorite diners to visit. The service and food is consistently great. The fried green beans and carrot cake are to die for. This place is always hoppin' which is nice to see in this poor economical state. Enjoy!

Based on the pics I've seen, it looks like they should stick to catering.

i have not been to this restaurant because I live in Farmington HIlls. However, the other day I called them to order food for 30 people who were attending a funeral. Everything was perfect and the people raved about the food and could not thank me enough. I plan to stop by and have lunch the next time I am in Trenton.

never been inside but have ordered using their online menu. very large menu selection. priced reasonably. food was 50/50. one time i ordered the chicken ceasar wrap and it was spot on (with the BEST pasta salad i have ever had). the other time i ordered the chicken ceasar and it was a bit lack-luster. however, the pasta salad was still to die for. yum, yum, yum! i will go back and try something else and maybe even go inside for the whole diner experience. i'll review again and maybe upgrade my rating (or vice-versa). overall, pretty good food and super good pasta salad.

Awesome Lobster Bisque. We go here every time my kids play hockey Downriver and nothing has ever disappointed here.

  • Chris S.

TRY THE LOBSTER BISQUE (it's only on Saturdays), but it is absolutely amazing. I wish I could drink the stuff. My only complain is that they don't serve breakfast all day like many area coneys/restaurants, but boy... try the Creme Brulee waffle!

  • Sandra B.

Excellent and fresh menu items and my GOD what great homemade desserts they have here. Its like stepping back to the 50's with the menu items very home cooking -ish but out of the ordinary. Unfortunately we tend to forget or just drive by this restaurant and that is a HUGE mistake. The menu and food is excellent. I have had their Chicken Pepperkash and it was delicious. Food is priced accordingly and ambiance is nice and casual. Go there, you won't be diappointed.
