We ordered the grilled cheese and veggie wrap, and both were very delicious! Wonderful, unique favors! Not just your average plain flavors. Wonderful selection of sweets as well! We got the French Silk pie to go. It looked to delish to pass up. Will follow up with a review of that after we try it.

I decided on wanted to go on my first solo trip and this B&B seemed like the perfect place. It is so peaceful and quiet. The house is beautiful and so are the grounds. It is very clean. I enjoyed spending time reading on the dock. Sally, Katy, and Brandon were very kind and welcoming. There is a yoga class in the AM in a gorgeous yoga room in the house. Yoga is followed by a fantastic organic vegetarian breakfast. I would highly recommend this Inn! It has such a peaceful energy. I can't wait to return!

Loved our stay at Oviatt House! Franny was an awesome hostess, everything was well taken care of. We stayed in the Grose room, which has a private entrance and private bathroom, and loved it! They keep local wines and beers on hand for guests, as well as locally roasted coffee and teas, bonus! Location was perfect, 5 minute walk to Front street and continent distance to old mission, sleeping bear, and many other great TC area attractions. Breakfast was outstanding-great conversation around the table over fresh brewed local coffee and fantastic organic local-ingredient omlettes. Would highly recommend! We will be back!

I wish this place was open more because we'd eat there breakfast, lunch, and dinner! There are many days when my boyfriend and I are trying to pick a place to grab dinner only to remember that Edany is closed for the day. *sad face* Food is stupendous and the staff is some of the nicest we've encountered in this city! If you haven't eaten here yet, DO EET!
I ordered the portabella sandwich and yes, it was pretty good. The side of cole slaw with it was okay - but seemed to need a kick to pair it with such a good sandwich. I don't give sandwich places 5 stars - and I can't give it a 4.5. Well if it had perhaps 1/2 ounce more portabella, a little more spinach and perhaps just a hair less seasoned butter on the toasted bread - well, then we might be talking 5 star territory. Would I come back.. Yes, Definitely.
Highly recommend. The owner went out of her way to deliver to us even though we were farther than normal delivery area. The lentil salad is amazing as is the shrimp and grits. We found a new favorite restaurant in traverse city!

There are few "hidden gems" left in TC but this is one of them. Simple, excellently prepared traditional Mexican food, awesome salsa's, kind and attentive service. The laungua tacos are by far my favorite, but the flauta's, the barbacoa steak.... Really everything. And the music videos on the TV set the perfect mood. I always try something new when I'm there, even the tripe soup. I love this little spot.
I'm not sure what all the other reviewers actually ate. We are from the Detroit area and are used to the authentic Mexican food in the southwest Detroit area - nothing fancy just good decent food. We knew ahead of time this wasn't a fancy place but who cares if the food is good, right? Well honestly the food wasn't that good. The tamales were very dry, like they were old or reheated in a microwave. The carne asada tacos were full of grisly, rubbery, dry skirt steak. Rice was bland. The refried beans were just ok. Best thing about the meal was the Mexican coke. Sorry this just was not what I thought it would be!
Love this place! Excellent guacamole and chips. Chicken burrito and chicken quesadillas are so yummy. My hubby had carne asada tacos and loved them. Great prices and nothing beats eating a chicken burrito on the lake.

One of my favorite places to go to pick up a good meal and drinks. I never realized they delivered (might I add WINE AND BEER) until a few months ago, and that made me love them even more. It's so convenient if you've already had a few and don't want to get behind the wheel to pick up some more. They have a pretty good selection too. Even when the staff are slammed with costumers they are still friendly and patient.
Pizza was great. It was filling and not what you would expect from a local party store. Sandwiches were above average, with plenty of variety including build your own. Salad was real good, but not many dressing options. The coffee shop I heard was lacking, but at least it's an option. Delivery was nice and convenient. I would order their pizza before I went with a chain.
Best pizza in town by far!! Also the turkey bacon wrap is soo good!!! I love this place and I always stop here when I am in the mood for something quick and delicious. It's really convienent to have this kind of convienence store on my side of town.

I love Fieldstone. Period. Great little corner market. Perfect stop before heading out on any of the surrounding lakes like Long Lake. Stopped in here earlier this week before going out on Long Lake on my friend's boat. Love that you can create your own sandwich. I got one on focaccia with salami, provolone, roasted peppers and pesto. Wow! DELICIOUS!! They have a great deli counter, lots of drinks to choose from and my kids were happy because we bought them ice cream too. Good job, Fieldstone, love you guys!
If you want a delicious sandwhich and are on the run, hit up Fieldstone. They have so many options;you basically design your own. They are huge and very reasonably priced. You can eat there or take out, and they also have a small grocery area for things you might need. Only reason I'm not giving it a full five stars is because the tables appeared to be somewhat dirty to eat on and they weren't very busy. Nice, friendly staff though.
SOLID. I have been coming to Fieldstone for many happy years now... it's a little piece of heaven out in the middle of nowhere. If you're boating on Long Lake, grabbing some ice cream at Moomer's, or just looking for an A+ sandwich and some deli items, please please come to Fieldstone. I LOVE the hot sandwiches, probably the most amazing sandwiches of all time. They have great pizzas, pasta salads, and just the friendliest faces you'll ever see. Pick up some grocery items, a newspaper, whatever you wish... Fieldstone has it.

Slabtown Cafe & Burgers

Reviews:
Voted #1 burger place in Traverse City along with Bubba's. Yup, I agree with that statement. The atmosphere is very vibrant, not in color but in feel and in life. They were very busy but handled it well. There's not a ton of room inside, 10-12 tables, but there's plenty outside. I ordered a Slabtown Patty Burger along with fries and a Northwood Lemonade. The slabtown patty is a stuffed burger that I added BBQ sauce to. It was ohh so very good. I could have eaten 2 except for the fact that 1 filled me up. The fries were truly amazing. A little bit of some spices. A nice crunch, but not supper crunchy. The Lemonade was awesome too. My only negative was the ketchup you can get is really strange and not that good. Also their shakes are made with soft serve. Tsk tsk proper shakes must be made with hard ice cream. Traverse City is the home to Moomers after all. My rating is a soft 5 stars due to that.
I would like to invite Mr. Jimmy Buffet here to learn exactly what a cheese burger in paradise entails. This place is a gem!! Tucked into a residential neighborhood with plenty of street parking and out door seating. They have hand cut fries!! And the burger is one of the best I have ever had. I tried a bohemian burger - grilled onions, bacon, mushrooms, jalapeños and chedder....two patties. I ate my fries first as I feel they are not as good cold. By the time I got to my burger it was still very hot!! The jalapeños had me sweating. The bacon was thick and meaty. I am completely stuffed and my double burger and fries cane to 10 bucks. I will return!! They have stuffed burgers too!!
Great black bean burger and delicious fries, cool building, and neat atmosphere. Service was quick and polite, food was delicious. Built into an old house just outside downtown. I look forward to going back and trying the onion rings!

What a great surprise this place was. Spent one Friday night (2/27/15) for a quick getaway, arrived to a beautiful sunset over the orchards. Checked in over the phone on there drive up and had our free bottle of wine and a free wine-tasting coupon for their adjacent winery waiting in the room upon arrival. The room was great--large, modern, clean, with a sofa, bar and small wet bar area. Microwave in the room with free popcorn and granola bars. Nice surprise. NOTE: could not figure out how to operate heat controls, and they could use an ice bucket so we could chill the wine to drink it. We got creative on both counts. The common rooms and fitness are a great surprise as well. Large, clean, very inviting. Breakfast was pretty good, not great, but we enjoyed it. This is not a traditional BB where you are in someone's home and they cook for you. It is a 6-room, modern inn with a self-serve breakfast that had a nice variety of choices. Breakfast was much better than, say, a Residence Inn free buffet and not as nice as a home-cooked breakfast. The 5 starts are because the rooms, fitness room, sauna and common areas are so perfectly simple and clean and functional and I think we got a good value considering the wine and free tasting the next day. Also, I do not generally care for TC wines but the oaked chardonnay was pretty darn good. We have not stayed at any other places on Old Mission Peninsula other than friend's homes and cottages, so we have no other inns or BBs on the peninsula to compare this to.
We have rented out the Inn for the weekend for the past 3 years with six couples (the maximum rooms). This place is incredibly clean and well decorated. The breakfast is not the traditional B & B but rather a do it yourself which is fine with us. The home has a massive sitting area upstairs and the same downstairs. The rooms are very large with a sitting area and couch and chair. Refrigerator and sink with plates, glasses, etc too. We typically come in the winter and have taken advantage of the special of booking a week day with the weekend and getting a free night. Oh and each day you get a free bottle of wine. The owner will come through the home to just check in and he is very interesting but if you don't want to engage him he will honor your privacy.
After searching several wineries, b&bs, and hotels in the Traverse City area, my boyfriend and I decided to try out The Inn at Chateau Grand Traverse. A few other recommended wineries were fully booked, but CGT had one room left, and we booked it for 2 nights during the week. We had never stayed at a b&b and didn't know quite what to expect but, overall, we enjoyed it and had a nice time during our stay. The Inn was reasonably priced and is a separate large, nice house, behind the actual winery - easy to miss when first driving by. They need a larger sign! Our room was large, with a Queen (I think?) bed, seating area with leather couches, small glass-top table, and kitchenette area with mini-fridge, counter space & microwave. We had a private balcony that overlooked the vineyards and although it was private, we could hear ever word from our neighbors while outside (hard to avoid, I guess). I appreciated the little touches in the room - vase with 2 fresh roses and a comp. bottle of our choice of wine per night. The house was clean and full of unique, decorative accents - glassware, sculpture, art, figurines, photos. The first and lower levels have two fireplaces, full bookshelves, deluxe chess & Foosball sets & other games, outdoor patios, private seating areas, workout room with sauna, and an area that has a mini-fridge with juices, teas, and light snacks. Breakfast is available for several hours in the morning and is a do-it-yourself set up with access to a stocked fridge of basic breakfast goods: waffle mix for the maker-machine, assorted baked goods, mini-quiche, frozen breakfast sandwiches, yogurt, fruit, bread, bagels, hard boiled eggs, etc. It was plenty of food, but I would have liked more prepared breakfast dishes (rather than frozen jimmy dean sandwiches). Check-in/out was easy and fast, and everyone we came into contact with was pleasant. I would probably stay here again, though I would be curious to compare this place to other wineries in the area that looked nice too.

Easily one of the best Delis in Traverse City. They are fast and reliable. It is locked downtown and is great for dine in or take out.
IMO, this is just another deli that happened to serve some hot sandwiches as well. You place your order by circling what you want on the ordering notepad and you hand it to the "chef". I had a turkey Parmesan sandwich. It's turkey, tomato, lettuce and Parmesan dressing. It was good and made me full and it was only $5.50. Not bad. We originally chose Chef's In because of its outdoor seating, there turned out to be 2 small tables outside, but I guess that still counts. Your view is the strip mall parking lot. Yay! This may be a better place for you if you like cold deli sandwiches, but since I'm more of a hot food person, if I were ever to go back, I supposed I'll try the grilled cheese with turkey instead.
Stopped in for a bite after hitting up a few of the wineries on the peninsula. I split a cheeseburger and a ham sandwich with a friend. They were both absolutely delicious! I loved all the options available for the sandwiches. I also tried the potato and beef soup, and it was also great. The service was nice and friendly, and had some good suggestions for shopping afterwards. My only real complaint is in the value department - it's expensive for what you get ($6+ for sandwiches, not including a drink or any sides).
