Korner Kottage

503 N Saint Josephs

Reviews:
Great location-right in walkable downtown Suttons Bay and a quick trip down to Traverse City or up the Leelanau Peninsula to Northport via my all-time favorite scenic highway--M-22. You can walk through Suttons Bay to shop or stop to catch a bite to eat, and a nice municipal park and marina, which has some playground equipment and a nice beach, is only a quick block walk from the B&B. The neighborhoods up behind the B&B are also nice for a quick morning or evening walk. We stayed in the Paris room, which was a spacious and comfortable room with a Parisian decor theme. I especially appreciated having a small fridge in the room, which is something you don't see in many B&Bs. This meant I could keep a ready supply of the ice tea I drink 24/7/365 on hand! Other amenities included WiFi included in the room cost as well as cushy bath robes and a wonderful full breakfast. We loved seeing what Jim would cook up each morning (stuffed French toast, egg souffle, pancakes?) and starting off the meal with Linda's great house-made granola and fresh fruit. Jim and Linda were great hosts...and we loved the company of their sweet and well-behaved dog, Nestle Quik. We stayed here over multiple week days in the late fall, which is definitely an optimal time if you're looking for a quiet retreat with lovely weather. Staying in the high summer season and during other prime weekends throughout the year (think fall leaf peeping times) will require more advance planning as the Korner Kottage's four rooms full up quickly then, and there will be a lot more tourist traffic through town along M-22.
As good as it gets is right. My husband and I recently stayed here for a few days after we got married as a "mini-moon". It was the perfect way to relax after the craziness of the wedding. Our room was cozy and clean. Jim and Linda are very accommodating hosts and provide very tasty, and filling, breakfasts in their garden (weather permitting). I will be recommending the Korner Kottage to friends and family.
Wow, this is definitely the B&B to stay at when you are in Suttons Bay. My wife and I booked the Paris room for the Taste of Passion wine tour and we couldn't ask for better accommodations. The room was decorated in a tastefully romantic style with lots of keepsakes our hosts Jim and Linda acquired in Paris. The bed was as comfortable as it gets. Our room looked out over the bay and even though the temp outside never made it over 17 all weekend, we were toasty warm at the cottage. The meals were all first rate as Jim prides himself as a master chef. Both Jim and Linda were the perfect hosts. Just can't say enough good things about our stay. Book it... You won't be disappointed.

Very delicious! I got the sliders and my friend got the chicken tenders. Both were very good! The bourbon sauce that comes with the chicken tenders is delicious! The waitstaff was friendly. The atmosphere was good, as you would expect from a pub and grill. The fries were great! I judge a place by their fries and they did them well! I would definitely return
Best hamburger around. Great friendly attentive wait staff. Would definately go back!
The hubs and I love us some small town pub action. This place has a really great atmosphere and the staff are very friendly. We sat at the bar, but there is a beautiful fireplace that you can sit near and enjoy. I had a bowl of delish Italian vegetable beef soup and yyyuummmmm. Hit the spot on a cold day. The hubs ordered the grilled chicken with fries. I liked the fries - crispy and a little towards well done but that's just how I like them! Naturally I dunked them in ranch and was pleased to find that the ranch is made onsite. The bar features local tastes of wine as well as draft and bottled beers. The bartender let us know that the onion rings are hand dipped and are quite tasty so we'll have to try those next time!

We were recently on a week-long trip to Traverse City and just happen to stop in through Suttons Bay. Nice little town. We happened to notice Hang-On and chanced it for some takeout dinner. And we LOVED it. The food was great. I think also were getting tired of just eating sandwiches, grill food, etc. on the trip. It was a great change of pace. Food was great and the hot sauces made it even better. Finished it ALL up! I don't know if we'll ever go back there, because we're not from the area, but if you're in or around Hang-On, definitely give it a try.
THE BEST FOOD. I may be biased as I was raised in Sutton's Bay and had the privilege of frequenting Hang-On. The hot and sour soup is a favorite and i've yet to find an egg roll elsewhere that i like as much as Hang-On. Do yourself a favor and stop in if you're in the area.
Had thai garlic stir fried noodles. It was good. A bit on the sweet side though. Steamed dumplings were okay. Nothing special. Service was all right. Not warm but the server was attentive so it's okay. It's a table service but seemed like an eat and run restaurant because the place was so small -only has about 10 tables (?) - can't really hang around for a long time when somebody's waiting to be seated. All in all, good food and good value.

Great Owners and a nice little ice cream place inside with the kindest people around! Pizza is really good here as are the subs. My favorite is the club! By far the best I've had.
Great pizza every time! Quality cheese and toppings along with homemade dough make for wonderful pizza time and time again! We're lucky to have this place in our little town of Suttons Bay. Family owned and operated to boot!!
This Place is my Nirvana. Best pizza in existence, INSANE breadsticks, and their Italian subs would probably be my dying meal (especially with xtra cheese and a side of dressing). Don't bother going anywhere else. And make sure you have cash...

Caution - if it's summertime and you like red wine beware. They store their red wine in the outside bar with no temperature control. So if it's 85 degrees outside that's the temperature your red wine will be served at. I mentioned this to the staff and they didn't seem to care.
Fantastic Prime Rib, Great service too. If you like onion rings this is the place for you. They are hand dipped. Fabulous!!!!
How can a place more than a 6 hour drive from home be on my favorites list? Moreso, it becoming my Birthday Place To Be? Well, Boone's North Country Grill & Pub is and did. They have a great menu of steak and seafood, don't get me wrong. But I was led here to enjoy Prime Rib. Enjoy is the perfect word. The ambiance is north woods cabin and it IS that. The servers are just wonderful, friendly, ready to help and very knowledgeable of their menu and restaurant. I went simple -- 16oz of med rare Prime Rib. I opted for rice and went with the salad with their new white vinegar honey dressing. Salad? Outstanding, the dressing, tangy sweet. Crisp, cold and the croutons are so good you wish they offered a "Crouton Salad". The meal, when delivered is -- well 16ozs.... One Lb looks a lot bigger than you think. Perfectly done (I have had both rare and medium rare here and believe me they know the difference). Tender, juicy and complimented by a very good horse-radish sauce on the side. I order the rice because I scoop it into the platter with the beef to soak up the juices.... Oh yeah. Had to pass on dessert but I bet they are good too..... A great place - If you are in the Traverse Bay area, take the 20 min ride to Sutton's Bay and feed your inner carnivore.

I really wanted to like this place. The outdoor seating seemed so inviting, and the staff was really nice. But it was honestly just bar food, and expensive bar food at that. I got a black and bleu burger which came with buns, meat, bleu cheese, and a piece of lettuce - 7.50. They asked if I wanted fries, chips, or another side, and I opted for fries thinking it came with the entree, but when I looked at the bill, they were an extra 2.00. My husband's cherry salad was pretty much iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, and some dried cherries. Not a good meal or deal.
Interesting mix of Mex and American and pizza. Food was great. Mex was good with some heat. Girls had pizza and liked it. Service was friendly and efficient.
I love this place! Everytime I have gone here the food has been great and the service fantastic. I have eaten both dinner and breakfast here and both are very good. I have been able to get chocolate chip pancakes even though they aren't on the menu and they are some of the best I have ever had. The Tex-Mex food is really good and the pizza is some of the best in the area. The staff is very friendly and accomadating (they don't mind if you make substitutions or ask that something be left off). All in all this is one of the best restraunts in the area.

The food was better than good, but not excellent. The service was decent, not very fast but not very slow. Great place to go for a good experience. Only problem was that they had the front of the restaurant totally open, so small gnats/fruit flies were flying everywhere which was mildly annoying.
Really enjoyed this. The atmosphere is great. The service was very friendly and the food was really good. I only had one item, the Seafood Pot, and was quite pleased. I am looking forward to coming back to try other items in this cool menu. There was so much to consider I had a hard time deciding. The only draw backs were the Seafood Pot was actually not a lot but a plate (minimal, right?). The clams were a little gritty but I'm sure that happens. They more than made up for it with flavor, preparation and presentation. I will be back.
Pretty awesome breaded white fish tacos, and they were just the daily lunch special. Soooo good that they should be on the menu full time. Cabbage, cilantro, tomato, scallions and a unique sauce to top off. No other restaurant in Suttons Bay offers fish tacos. Regardless, these were awesome. Ordered 24 for a dozen family members vacationing in the area. Would order again!

Martha’s Leelanau Table

What a beautiful town Suttons Bay is, and Martha's is the place to eat. We were there with a group of 5 and the service was perfect. All of us enjoyed a very leisurely dinner and everyone was satisfied.
It is hard to find unique/eccentric like Martha's in Northern Michigan, but after researching we wanted to drive in from Empire to try it out. It is very clean and inviting, the outdoor patio also looked beautiful. I was excited to try the "Green Eggs and Ham", it was really good but the green Pesto was under the eggs and you couldn't see it in the presentation on the top of the food which was disappointing. My meal with the homemade bread, and side order of skillet potatoes was very fresh and I am happy we tried it. My wife was looking forward to Cherry Bread French toasts (but they were out of Cherry Bread) overall her meal was solid but we were disappointed we never got to sample the signature bread. We never tried the desserts but the cakes look delicious, this is a great find Northern Michigan.
I tried to eat here twice. The first time I went we dropped in between lunch and dinner and found out they were closed during those hours. We came back another day and drove an hour to get here. Upon our arrival there were many open tables (it was 5:40 p.m). Despite the open talbes we were told we could not be seated for a half hour. I asked if the tables were reserved but was told they were not. My husband and I were told that the restaurnat did not want to "back up" the kitcen. We were planning on ordering their price Prix Fixe special which is not availble after 6 pm. and were told we would not be able to order this as we would be seated after 6 pm. This despite the fact that we were there before 6 pm! We decided to dine at North Country Grill and Pub across the streee. We were seated immediately and had a delighful dinner on their pato.

The Ice Cream Factory

MOOMERS. (yes!) The Ice Cream Factory is an SB staple, residing on the corner of Saint Joseph Street & Grove Street it has been around a very long time (at least since I was small, which my nephew informs me is the "old days.") It's an ice cream institution! Located in charming Suttons Bay, if you are looking for a sweet treat old school, this is your spot. I took my toddler and aforementioned nephew (yes, even though he called me old!) for ice cream on a hot day in August. A pineapple shake, black cherry moomers cone (for moi!) and mango dole whip kiddie size later we were $10 lighter and on our way to the SB Marina to enjoy. It's a quick hop skip and a jump to enjoy your ice cream at the park or beach, which I recommend. There is also picnic seating but its pretty hot in the sun! Good stuff guys, and hey...MOOMERS. If you don't know what I'm talking about, get over there and get yourself one.
I'm all about soft serve when I'm out for ice cream. If I want hand dipped I can do that at home... The banana splits are delicious! Hot fudge brownie is pretty good too!
Went there last night with two friends. Place was not busy--only one other customer at the time we ordered. Two young women were working behind the counter. They were courteous and service was very fast. Ice cream was to die for--Moomers is the absolute best! However, outside tables looked like they hadn't been wiped in days--even the benches were dirty--it was difficult to find a clean place to sit--pieces of food spilled all over and drips of dried ice cream on the tables. Also the outside trash container looked like it hadn't been scrubbed in years. If I owned this place, cleanliness would be at the top of my priority list. Otherwise I would have given it 5 stars.

Great service , killer market attached for sushi ginger, wonderful fall rolls and we had the seafood stir fry -loads of shrimp and mussels as big as your thumb ! Good service and a bar Great we Will be back
After reading the reviews we were anxious to try the Pad Thai and we were so disappointed. The wide noodles got soggy very quickly and the chicken was very dry. They do have a nice deli of which I will come back for and maybe try a pizza but never the Thai. I really wanted to like it.
Was a truly enjoyable experience. The food was great. We ordered a pizza as an appetizer. My husband and I split the Pad Thai with shrimp & mussels and our friends had then fish tacos. All were excellent! Very quaint and cozy! Will definitely return upon our next visit to the area.
