Hot, yummy, good service, quick during a weeknight when hungry! Happy they have Gluten Free now.. it came out good. Not the best GF I've had but for a local chain it's darn good. The competition Dominos made one but I like Hungry Howies better. Seems more flavor! Thanks to Hungry Howies for making us a GF one! This location has always taken good care of us. The staff is friendly and attentive. Keep up the good work

a little bigger then some of the other Subways iv been to, The lady who made my sandwich ( which has probably been the best Subway sandwich iv ever had, you ask for heavy lettuce, spinach and pickle, That's what you get, WOW : ) ) She was professional, friendly, always smiling, the place was very clean, even the bathroom, and the best thing was the music, while I was there they played One from Metallica, Dani California from Red Hot Chili peppers and long way to the top from AC/DC. Awesome.

I'm thankful when I remember to go here Why? you may ask? Well I know where its located & even for the Apollo regulars, it is tucked into a corner of a nearly vacant plaza. However the chili, omelets & coneys are fantastic. Monday I was truly craving a super bowl No Bean Chili Cheese Ground Beef Onions I called ahead, and it was ready on the counter, complete & ready to go. $4.25 Perfect blend of chili-spices, plus I'm a huge fan of the consistency of the chili itself here Not too thick or a blob like some places Not too thin or watery , just perfect. Personally I think it is very close to the American & Lafayette style downtown. Plus I'm sure you've read the Detroit Locals who have moved to California love it too patch.com/michigan/shelb… Its located behind the speedway at Riverland & Van Dyke Friendly cook, staff, servers & owners. and is 100% CASH ONLY repeat CASH ONLY, in case you miss both signs on the door.
It has been a while since last time here (5-6years). So this time took my wife and daughter(23) and everybody loved it. While it was very slow, not many patrons, the service was darn good and attentive and the food wAs very good. I had the shish kabob sandwich and a coney. My wife a coney and my daughter had their version of National's Hanni sandwich and some chilli cheese fries. The girls loved the fries and I loved my chicken s/which the best. This place has been here forever and is well worth going to, no disappointed customers.
Best chili fries and dogs anywhere ever! Love Phil and sue ... Always crave the number three.. Lovers of coney must go!

Really delicious food. I had the fattoush salad with chicken we had the baba ghanoush, my daughter had the veggie plate and my husband had a mixed plate with chicken shawarma and falafel and hummus. Everything was excellent. I am still partial to La Saj being our favorite but definitely will be eating here again!
I love this place! It's cheap, it's delicious and the service is friendly. My favorites: chicken shawarma sandwich, the lamb/chicken shawarma dinner plater, and grape leaves. And the garlic paste and pita--mega yum! The servings are generous, and definitely enough for two. The service is pretty fast, and the food is always great. Really, there's no reason not to go here.
Excellent food, great service, fantastic prices - would recommend to everyone!

Kalaja Restaurant & Burek

33874 Dequindre Rd
Sterling Heights, 48310
Reviews:
Sure, you know the Detroit area has great Middle Eastern fare, notable Halal restaurants, and a bangin' new BBQ scene. But did you know that you can find amazing, home-cooked authentic Albanian food in an assuming location in the Madison Heights area? Did you even know that there exists a national cuisine of Albania? No? Get thee to Kalaja and discover this wonderful fare. Albert and his wife operate Kalaja, which translates as "castle", as a small cash-only eatery with about 8 tables and a healthy to-go operation. The interior is sparse, but very neat and clean, with tastefully-placed Albanian flags and decor. Albert treated my friend and me to a delightful feast of epic proportions, for a pauper's budget. The menu is simple, hearty, and well laid-out for the first-time Albanian cuisine explorer as well as for the native diner looking for home-like favorites. Kalaja is known for their "burek," or savory pizza-sized pies that have spinach, meat, or cheese fillings, and are more than enough food for two people at only $14 for a whole, or purchase by the slice. They're like spanakopita, but on a whole new level. "Qebape", or the Albanian version of Lebanese kafta, are sold in 5 or 10 pieces, and are delicious little sausage-like beef concoctions and are served with sheep's milk feta. Definitely indulge in the fresh, warm bread that is served with the meal, along with the legit cucumber and tomato salad with white vinegar and sheep's milk feta. One can't forget to order a container of the fresh yogurt for dipping the Qebape and soaking up with the bread! They also have baklava and rice pudding for dessert in the case by the cash register. Mr. Albert and his wife will treat you like family here, and you'll eat like royalty for far less than you would imagine. Bring your cash and your appetite!
Yummy and super nice people serving up food I've never tried. The burek are pies kind of like greek spinach pies, but heavier. We had cheese, meat and spinach, all were awesome. The Qebape is like a sausage with no casing, kind of like kafta but the texture and flavor are different. ALSO delicious. Super friendly great service. And the customers and staff got a great kick out of the fact that we were not Albanian and knew nothing about the food.
Whenever we are on that side of town we always stop by here. We get one whole meat burek and one cheese burek. As soon as we get in the car we start trying to eat them even though they were just cooked. Our happy bellies make up for our burned fingers and mouths. Also, don't forget CASH!

Very good food and prices! Staff was friendly. The salads, falafels, sandwiches, everything except the grape leaves was good! Those were too oily and not flavorful for me. Been here a lot.
Love this place, the food is delicious and plentiful. Have tried the "Combo Plate", it's a lot of food, and all of it fresh, great customer service, I concur with calling ahead for your carry out. Dined in once and there was a steady stream of folks picking up their carry out. Chicken Shawarma was delicious and the soup was too, the garlic dip they serve with the pita bread is incredible. Highly recommend.
Yumm yumm yumm. I love the fatoush. Crispy and fresh all the time. The hummus is the perfect consistency of creamy all the time. It never waivers, it's never lumpy or too garlicky. I love the white rice it's one of my favorite side dishes. My favorite dish is the falafel sandwich with tahini And pickles only. The Tabouli is awesome! So fresh and tangy and they don't over use the bulgar. I'm not a meat eater but my dad, who is not a fan of chicken, says they have some of the most tender, melt in your mouth chicken. He also loves the kafta and kabobs here and says the meat is fresh. It looks amazing whenever they bring it out. Next time I plan on trying the fish, I just haven't been in the mood for it, but it looks great.

Jet’s Pizza

I've been ordering pizza from this 18 mile and Ryan takeout for almost 20 years now. My family loves the xtra large Jet10, light sauce, well done, deep dish w/ turbo crust. They have provided a perfect pizza, everytime, year after year, right up to today. Sure, the antipasto salads are better at Buddy's, but for takeout pizza - Buddy's, Loui's, Shield's, Cloverleaf, Detroit Style Pizza Co., Green Lantern - no one does Detroit Deep Dish Pizza better than Jet's.
Awesome service and even better pizza. The guys working there are super friendly and the pizza always come out fresh.
Food: Jet's Pizza is great pizza. The salads, wings, deli boats, and subs are great too. The Jet's 10 is the best. Rating: 5 stars Service: This location has great service and the staff is always happy to help. I had to order and pick up a meal during the mid-late morning (lunch for me and my wedding party) and despite not being open to the public yet, the staff prepared my order and I was able to pick it up in time. Rating: 5 stars Atmosphere: This is a take-out location, but there is a TV that always has the relevant sports event on so you can stay updated. The waiting area is bright and clean. Rating: 4 stars Location: The parking is convenient and the location is accessible. Rating: 4 stars

Free, amazing smells. Fresh, hot bread, 5/$1. Fresh, crunch falafel, 4/$1. Fresh ground cumin for around $4. Fresh, soft pitas, an entire package for $1. This place is a hidden gem, with CHEAP, fresh baked items and produce. The sisters at the front are also friendly. Heads up, no credit/debit cards unless you spend $10. Go here, you won't regret it.
Its a GROCERY STORE Expect anything more and you will be dispaointed. but I bought there olive oil it was cheap and I used it yesterday it was great. There falafel ( 4 for a $1) are two weeks old in the freezer, thawed them baked them and put them on some pita I love my mom but she cant compete there bulk falafel might be the best I have had
Great small fruit and veggie market. Low prices primarily because their produce is pretty ripe. You have to use what you buy within a couple days. Small amount of refrigerated products like cheeses, milk, etc. Good selection of olives and other ethnic foods. Make sure to make it to the bake of the store for some fresh baked bread. Their falafel is great too up at the checkout counter.
