Dined at Tanglewood this past Friday night. From the outset and throughout - the staff was very friendly and courteous. They had a new menu. We ordered their Lasagna which was surprisingly very good tasting and a large portion. And wife ordered their Cobb Salad which was also very good. Will definitely return if the food and service continues like this - excellent!
We had our rehearsal dinner at the Tanglewood Clubhouse since my mother-in-law lived nearby and it was effortlessly great. We had a nice private room to ourselves, overlooking the golf course. The staff were courteous and ensured everyone had the drink of their choosing within a minute of arrival. The food was excellent and catered to the variety of tastes in our party. They did a really great job and we are very appreciative.
I just got back from a group outing to TANGLEWOOD in South Lyon for a lunch buffet and show. It was terrific. I think everyone in attendance had a good time. I'd highly recommend this for a day trip. We went in blind, as I hadn't heard any feedback/information about this performance, but it was really really good. We got there by 11:15a (too early) but they were super accommodating right from the get-go. I was disappointed to learn that it was in the lower level and required stairs -(as I was with a group of seniors) again, no worries. They had golf carts to take those who had difficulties with the stairs (I took the golf cart cause it seemed like more fun - and it was). Lunch got started just after noon, buffet-style. Food was very good (pork loin and salmon for the main entrees). The waitstaff was very attentive with beverages (water, coffee, ice tea). After lunch, they came around with dessert, which was also yummy. Before the show, they did a 50/50 raffle just for fun (bring singles), as they give away the whole pot. They also raffled off the centerpieces (you did not have to pay for a ticket to get in on that drawing). The performers were really fun and the show was very entertaining. Lots of crowd interaction. The girl sang some great throwback songs and the guys did Dean Martin, Tom Jones and Elvis impersonations. All fun and easy to sing along to if desired. The staff was very easy to work with and checked in frequently for a count. They were very good about adjusting numbers practically til the last second. If any of you have been to the dinner show at Calloways in Oxford, this is the same people. For more info, feel free to contact Gary Lepak - gary@tanglewoodlion.com 248-486-6217

Great local place. Love that they have a drive thru. This place is almost always busy. Pricing is what you'd expect and they often hold events. The Gold Mine is delicious. Ice cream, Brownie, Peanut Butter, Fudge and Whipped cream.... How can you go wrong with that. I haven't actually ordered one myself but I've had bites of others. The Blizzards and Swirl cones are also great. They are very generous with their sizes so if you are not what the sizes look like be to sure ask first. They even offer a petite size which is my favorite.
Great ice cream/custard. Wish they had more flavors, but I'm spoiled by Ermas over on the "east side." Cones are the best value. I tried their chocolate malt and it was pretty good. My favorite will always be vanilla with chocolate dipping. I give it a 4 rather than a 5 because of their lack of ice cream flavors and because their ice cream doesn't seen cold enough - even on a mild day, my ice cream is usually dripping within seconds. Our most recent order included two flurries, and they were half melted before we were one-quarter finished. Update: This place is leaning toward a 3 for me, after noticing their prices compared to Ermas and even Dairy Queen. With half-melted ice cream, oddly spotty service and comparing between some products (eg: s'more flurry vs s'more Blizzard), I'm starting to shy away from this place. Does anyone else seriously not have a problem with how melted their ice cream keeps coming out? They're keeping their 4-star right now, because their peanut butter shake was truly peanut-buttery, and at least their shakes don't have the problem of leaking all over the place.
One of our favorite stops for a weekend treat. I like the real fruit shakes. My family really likes the flurries. The owner is very friendly. As a bonus, they are attached to Lindsay's pizza. So we can get both food and desert in one stop.

Breadsticks are great as everyone else reviews. Been there three times Pizza sub standard I've had better from little sleazers and dominos if that helps Driest pizza I've ever had hands down Congrats! Not sure if all the great reviews means south lyon has low standards You get the point If you're a breadstick fanatic This is your place Otherwise you'll get about as much satisfaction from a McDonald's drive thru.
I can't think of anything bad to say about Aleko's. The staff is always super friendly and the food is always great. As others have said, the breadsticks are in a league of their own!
Came here a few days ago and finally had something other than breadsticks. We ordered two small pizzas and a pita sub. The sub was delicious, and I'll for sure be back for more. Green peppers, feta cheese, beets and olives, everything tasted so fresh. The pizzas were.... Ok. I think the sauce was missing salt. It tasted fresh and homemade compared to other chain pizza places like Jets and Benitos... but it just didn't hit us as amazing. Personal preference, I'm sure, and I still would encourage anyone to try their pizza and form your own impressions. One thing's for sure is they're pretty (uploaded picture). And of course, their breadsticks are delicious :) Oh, and I haven't even mentioned how wonderful their service was. They treat you like family, especially the lady that's usually there.

This is a wonderful neighborhood family- and food-friendly microbrewery. That means bring the kids before 9 o'clock and bring a pizza or anything. Many times you'll find a food truck out front. All the bartenders are knowledgeable and you can try a free sample of any brew before you buy. Go for a flight if you can't make up your mind. This is Pure Michigan at its best. Join the mug club and drink there twice a month and it pays for itself! Don't forget the special events they host - like Fury for a Feast in their parking lot in August.
Finally made it to the Witch's Hat tonight for a beer after a workout. We sat at the bar and the three bartenders seemed genuinely friendly and personable. I had the gluten free IPA after sampling the ciders and decided that I didn't like any of them including the IPA. It was very bitter. The atmosphere is mixed and relaxed. It would be nice to have food and more gluten free beers that taste good. This day in age most establishments have a solid selection.
When I first really went here, which was just after they opened, I knew their original space was too small. Now with their newer, larger location, at least you can get in! I can understand the reason for the crowd. It's not just because they're the only brew pub around, it's because they have some dang great beer. I recently had their session IPA, That Guy. I'm happy this style is becoming popular. This brewery does a great job. It taste like a full blown IPA, but with fewer ABVs. The staff was wonderful. Friendly and efficient. Prices are resonable, as well. The only knock I have is their lack of a kitchen. If they had some good food, I would give it the fifth star.

This is a good coney- diner. My Mom and her BF like to eat at this place so my Wife and I have been here a half dozen times in the last year or two. The salads here are huge. I'm a big guy and I need to remember to order a med salad next time because the large was way too much food. The pink greek dressing is really good. I have also had the meatlaof and a few other items, all pretty good. I prefer tomato gravy on meatloaf but I suspect I'm in the minority so minor gripe that theirs is beef gravy. I'm sure we will be back soon.
Best coney place I have found in S.E. Michigan. First, owner (Tom) is experienced and holds food and staff at higher standards than most coney joints. This coney actually doesn't burn their eggs on omelets. Cooks care about what they plate, not just wham bam thank you ma'am attitude. Quality & cleanliness shows at every turn. Thanks for the great food and service!
Good food, good for kids, good prices. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. Closes early on Sunday's. It is generally busy on the weekend but tables turn quick.

As I always say, small and locally owned, my favorite! They have a cool little pedal car hanging from the ceiling that my daughter is dying to ride in. She asks Mr. Brown every time we go. Sandwiches and coneys are excellent. The waitresses remember you by name and your regular order if you eat there as much as my daughter does. I love the homemade root beer and the cozy welcoming atmosphere!
Great old fashioned food, delicious root beer served in frosted mugs, foot long hot dogs and coneys.
Excellent diner type food. Check to see if they are open during the winter.

Palomino’s Pizza

Reviews:
My favorite Pizza in South Lyon. New York style with Quality Cheese. Great sauce, great thin crust, great pepperoni (small ones) worth the extra cost. Hope to see them succeed.
Palomino's reminds me of the sliced pizza you could get as a kid at the roller skating rink. You know, the same concession stand that sold nachos with liquid cheese and Icee drinks? Their pepperoni pizza has a thin crust and is lathered in cheese with tiny pepperoni's that curl up at the edges. It's pretty simple but simple is good. You have the option of adding a kick to your crust with either parmesan or garlic sprinkles which adds a nice element to a plain pizza. I've been to Palomino's a half dozen times for carry out and never experienced any of the other issues others have mentioned about rudeness. There is a large banner next to the Palomino's sign that says, 'Under New Management' so maybe the days of yelling, swearing and nasty notes left on the door are over? I hope so!
While watching my nephews I needed a place that delivered. I called another higher rated pie joint but they didn't deliver. So I went with the next on the list. Ordered a deep dish mushroom sausage, it came with no sausage and the grease made the bottom soggy. For the boys, I ordered breadsticks, which were super greasy but looked fresh, and a pepperoni hand tossed. My nephew described it as hot foot, which meant the pepperoni was the old school small greasy spicy pools, good for adults but not little kids. It was also very light on sauce but heavy on cheese. This was what my nephew described as a foot. The mozzarella had a quality to it that was an odd texture. The cheese wasn't terribly stringy, so it made me wonder if our 50 minute delivery time was the reason.

New in South Lyon and tried this place out because we wanted some casual steaks, nothing too fancy, for the night. Ordered the rib eye and new york strip steaks and they came out well seasoned, but a tad bit more overcooked than the medium-rare we had asked for. We also got their spinach and artichoke dip and upgraded to a loaded baked potato. Their dip was alright - it felt more like melted stringy cheese with spinach folded in so every scoop we had was stringy and a bit difficult to get a right portion of it onto our chips. I was expecting more of a dip feel, smooth and what not, but taste-wise it was ok. The loaded baked potato was a little on the dry side from being overcooked so I didnt care for it. Interior is nice and pretty intimate. It was actually a little smaller than what I was expecting, but it was still a good experience.
I've lived in Lyon township for 5 years now. The Lyon grill and Lake street tavern are my go-to restaurants. If I'm feeling like a burger and a beer, I'll be at the Tavern. If I need something more complex then I'll be at the Lyon Grill. I highly suggest the fish & chips, the spinach & feta pizza roll, steak bites, and the Old Country Pizza. The BBQ ribs and steaks are good and you can't go wrong with one of their pizzas. I also recommend their lyon grill salad if you like bleu cheese. Lastly, They've got about 10 pasta dishes that I haven't tried yet, I hear the rattlesnake pasta is pretty good. PS - If you want a steak medium, you typically have to order it medium rare.
Eh ! Only ate once. Food tasted from the can. If you want typical american cantina, this is your joint. If you want to step it up go to burrito king. Food is priced decent and portions are fair.

Lousy customer service, two of girls working the register acted like it was an inconvenience, no enthusiasm. One in black, the other in burgandy had hair hanging down, fashion statement, not the place. The bathrooms were filthy. visited Friday morning 7/6/12
I believe this is a corporate owned location. Fast service, quick/cheap iced coffee. The caffeine still works! I've never had a quality issue here either, which is quite surprising considering the pace of fast food.
Favorite, Mcdonalds! Nice people! Fast, friendly service. Love, getting my, Icey cold $1.00 pop here!

This place was good when it first opened, but our last three visits have been steadily disappointing in terms of both service, and food. I think tonight's visit will be our last. The fish tacos tasted like they were made with fish jerky and both my son's and my wife's pizza were dry. Just really not worth what you pay for it.
What kind of a place runs out of vodka???? We went there on a thursday a few weeks ago for dinner. My husband and grandma ordered vodka tonics but were informed they were out of vodka. I get that this is primarily a pizza and beer place but still.....
This is a fantastic edition to South Lyon and a place I will continue to frequent. Here's why: - as soon as you walk in, you'll notice (besides the nice atmosphere, attentive staff and delicious smells of food) that it is sooooooo clean! I mean, spotless. This is super important to me in any food setting because the last thing I want to do is be grossed out by a place before I get my food (who wants a nice glob of foodborne illness served up with a scoop of mashed potatoes? Not me!) - the staff are helpful and made some suggestions for drinks and a main entrée. - the food AND drinks were great! Both came to our table right after having been made and hit the spot. We got the kale and artichoke pizza which came with a white sauce (as opposed to a red marinara) and was tasty! - prices are not too bad for the quality of everything - this could be a nice family place, a date night and/or a place to kickback and have a drink while watching a sporting event. I'll be back for sure!
