This was our first bed and breakfast experience and it could not have been better. The owners are wonderful and very accommodating. Our room was spacious, nicely decorated and very clean. The breakfast was delicious and very filling. They have great breakfast selections and we were able to mix and match items. The location is perfect. It is about a 5 minute walk from the downtown and on a quiet street. I would strongly recommend staying at Beechwood Manor Inn.

I had the best mini vacation and I loved everything about this B&B in fact I'm going to convince my friends to come back for a couples weekend. Food was fantastic the innkeepers were super helpful and very nice.

I thoroughly enjoyed staying at this gem in Saugatuck, MI when I was in town for an annual writing retreat. The house is clean with all the amenities someone would be seeking for fun, comfort, and/or necessity. It is very conveniently located near the charming downtown area but I rather liked that it wasn't smack in the middle of it all - - it's close (quick, 8 - 10 minute walk) but nestled into a quiet neighborhood which is more my cup of tea. Regrettably, I was only able to take part in the breakfasts one morning out of the three that I was there (the retreat I attended also served breakfast) but on the day I dined at the inn, the breakfast was top notch - very flavorful and filling! I had a lot of interaction with the owner, Jamie, and she is MARVELOUS! She is friendly, humorous, and very, very service oriented. I have stayed in a lot of great B&Bs in the states and in Europe and Jamie's warmth and genuine interest in the guest experience is special. Potential guests need to understand and appreciate that it is an older home (which I find full of charm). You will hear people moving about the house and/or in the room next to yours (I stayed in Enid's room); the showers are small and there may not be a lot of "closet" space. That said it has character and comfort in spades. In time, it would be great if they could swap out the wallpaper for fresh paint...I know this is a nit-picky, aesthetics thing but it dates the home in a way that doesn't tie it to a historical era so much as a previous decade.

Breakfast: Awesome. My one gripe, which is really not a gripe but only because I'm a fata$$, is that the food tends to be either on the sweet or savory side. You can swap items here and there, but IDK if you can add bacon to your waffles. I'm sure they would happily add it for you but I would feel weird asking for it. In any case, the food is great, abundant, and tasty. Bed: comfy for me as a hard bed sleeper but also comfy for my SO who likes soft beds. Must be a magic bed. A little creaky though ;) Great town, not too far drive from Chicago, fun even in the winter.

Not one bad thing to say about this lovely B&B. Hosts are wonderful. House beautiful. Well-thought-out extra touches. Easy walk to downtown and quick drive to beach. Breakfast will hold you until dinner. Always stocked fridge with drinks and snacks in cupboard. Jamie, you were great! So nice talking with you.

My fiancé and I spent the weekend at Beechwood Manor and couldn't have been more pleased. The owners extended their trust by allowing us to check in late on a Friday evening. They set up a dessert assortment in celebration of my fiancé's birthday weekend. And each morning's breakfast offerings aggressively dashed our wildest expectations. The property and accommodations are phenomenal. The location is centrally located within walking distance of both Saugatuck and Douglas. If you are planning a weekend to Saugatuck, Beechwood must find its way to the top of your list. Five and a half stars.

We stayed June 14 thru 16 2014 and what a great experience it was for my new wife and I. We shared our honeymoon at the beechwood and the host Jamie and Scott were fantastic. The breakfast was 5 star quality every morning and they never made you feel awkward. They made some great chocolate covered strawberries for honeymoon gift for my wife and I which we're great by the way. Jamie was very helpful and sharing her personal stories and provided us tons of information and things to do in Douglas and Saugatuck. I suggest trying the stand up paddle boarding lots of fun. The house was a short 5 min walk to downtown. Would stay here again for sure

The best. THE BEST! Love Beechwood Manor! Stayed here a few weeks ago for my birthday weekend when I found a special online for 2 nights plus one one hour free in-room massage, gift certificate to a restaurant in downtown Saugatuck, and of course the two complimentary brekkies (being that it's a B&B, of course) for $388. Such a steal! The house itself is lovely. Built in the 1870s and renovated a bit but still keeping that Victorian charm. A comfy downstairs sitting area, and cozy dining room and another kitchenette area with a fridge (stocked with complimentary sodas and water), water pot for tea, hot chocolate, etc, and coffee. Oh yay! We stayed in Enid, the largest of the rooms. Very spacious with a sitting area of two chairs and a table, a couple of nightstands, a chest of drawers, a queen sized bed (very comfy and cozy), a fireplace, a small cable tv and dvd player, and cd/radio. It was actually really nice to unplug a bit so we didn't really watch any tv but it was there if you need it. Instead we mostly just lounged around listening to classical music on the radio and Prairie Home Companion. Fit the feel of the room nicely! The adjoining bathroom is a good size too with a lovely and deep clawfoot bathtub (that I definitely took a soak in. AHHH so nice!) and a separate shower. Complimentary bathrobes added to the cozy feeling and the windows had a lovely view for just perching and looking outside. Add that to the most amazing massage ever (seriously, one of the best I've ever had and I'm hard to please) and I walked out of there feeling completely rested and rejuvenated. The hosts/owners, Sal and Gregg are just lovely. Really friendly and chatty, I felt like an honored guest. And they are no slouches in the kitchen, either! Our breakfasts were DELICIOUS. The first day I had the eggs benedict (although the smell of the waffles sure were intoxicating!) and the next morning I had the sweet potato pancakes which I had to force myself to stop eating because they were so tasty but oh so filling! The grounds are lovely and I can't wait to come back in warmer weather for a sit on the porch looking at the trees and Kalamazoo river peaking through (while their super friendly kitty Oscar rubs against your ankles--but don't worry cat allergy folks, kitty does not come into the guest quarters. We only saw him chillin' outside). If you've never been to a B&B I highly recommend starting with Beechwood Manor. Although it's likely any others you visit may not live up!

The house is charming, rooms are spacious, the hosts are WONDERFUL, breakfast choices are terrific. Sal and Gregg know how to be available and helpful without ever being overbearing. I highly recommend this place!

I don't know if I can add much to the previous reviewers' highly rated descriptions except to update and echo them heartily. The ownership has changed but doesn't seem to have skipped a beat. One of the new owners is a former chef whose breakfast offerings change each day and can be ordered via a new-each-day hang tag filled out and placed on the doorknob at bedtime. His wife is charming and helpful. She was available to us at all times and, at her request, by text whether we were in our room changing our breakfast time or in town looking for a recommendation for a nice place for lunch. The Beechwood is a nice home away from home in a beautiful residential neighborhood within a short walking distance of town.

About Applebee's

Applebee is an American full-service restaurant brand popularly known for its signature Riblets. Applebee was conceptualized in 1980 by Bill and TJ Palmer in Atlanta, Georgia. At first, the restaurant was named T.J. Applebee's RX for Edibles and Elixirs. After the concept was acquired by W.R. Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.

Later in 2007, IHOP Corp. now known as DineEquity, Inc. acquired Applebee's and began their journey together to make Applebee's the world's largest full-service restaurant chain. Today, Applebee's serves at more than 1,830 locations worldwide. The Applebee's menu ranges from Appetizers and Salads to heavy meals consisting of ribs and steak.
