Ton visited this establishment on the 11th day of August in the year two thousand and fifteen. He pulled up to the drive through and placed his order very excited for what was to come. But what came out the window, did not impress him at all.
First impressions may not be everything, but as an out-of-state road warrior looking for a quick bite, that is about all this location gets. Unfortunately, they flubbed it. With three people in our party, one might reasonably expect for us to order three meals. That was our intention. The crewmember waiting on us needed to doe exactly that; wait. After the second meal was placed and it was explicitly stated that our third person was now going to order (he even stepped up right in front of the register), the crewmember went ahead and cashed out the first two meals, neither looking up from his touchscreen nor acknowledging our third person at all. We figured that this young man should at least be able to take a second order from us without any (more) trouble. Sadly, this was not in the cards, as his manager proceeded to walk up to the register and the two proceeded to work on refunding another customer for an errant sandwich. This left us in the unenviable position of having to wait in another cashier's line two order the third of three meals. To her credit, the manager did realize her error and offered to put both of our orders in the same bag so we wouldn't have to wait for two separate deliveries to the counter. While the service was sub-par, the food was up to snuff. The fries were still hot with just the right amount of salt and the burgers seemed to have been prepared recently. The Chile Chicken Snack Wrap that one of our party got actually ended up having ranch on it in addition to the Asian chile sauce, but the consumer said that the bobble actually improved the overall taste. Seeing other reviews and the commitment of the manager to "make it right" for the other customer, I likely just managed to catch the counter staff at less than their finest moment. Although the food was well executed, the crewmembers are the face of the establishment, an important part of the overall picture that was found wanting.
Just a beautiful McDonald's with great service and fresh delicious food. This staff was prompt and quick to deliver and always wonderful to see the owner working the fries. Takes pride in what he is doing. Great job and thanks for representing the UP well.

Cozy spot where the waitress knows your name, and is super sweet even when she doesn't. It wasn't until we stumbled upon here that I realized Michigan hasn't been misspelling "pastry" on all their storefronts. I had a Pasty for the first time ever! They were tasty, especially with coleslaw & gravy. The real star, however, was their homemade pies in flavors I've never seen before: oatmeal pecan coconut, and ABC (Apple, blueberry, cherry). They don't sell whole pies unless you pre-order them. So we just cleaned then out. Nostalgic, friendly place, with free wifi.
Yum!!!! On vacation and we've never really found a great restaurant in St. Ignace, until now! The food was wonderful! The kids had hot dogs with fresh cut fries. Husband had roast beef that was very tender with homemade gravy and mashed potatoes. I had the homemade split pea soup and it was delicious! For dessert, we shared the berries of the forest pie with a scoop of ice cream. It was amazing!
Take a lovely step back in time at this classic diner (free wifi too though!). Lots of locals, always a good time, and a super friendly staff. We went for breakfast, had delicious omelets made from truly beaten eggs (not the nasty pre-mixed variety). Little bit slow as a result, so don't go if you're in a huge hurry. Besides, you don't want to rush through the awesome local flavor of this place. We were SO tempted by the homemade pies calling to us from the counter but since it was early we resisted. Next time though... I can't believe this is the first review they've gotten on Yelp. Great place we'll definitely be back!

We stayed here last weekend - we chose it based on the reviews - and were pleasantly surprised! I would give it four and a half stars if I could, but since I can't I'm going with four. So here is why I gave it four stars - You can't beat the price - seriously, you just can't. The owners are very friendly. Yes the place is a little worn (it's old!) but it's charming! The location is great - St. Ignace is a small town and pretty much everything of importance is within walking distance. The view is wonderful - the balcony is a perfect place to hang out and watch fireworks. If you want to watch TV then you're in luck - cable and HBO. Something else I was happy about was that they give you all Bath and Body Works soaps, shampoos, and conditioners. Lastly, the room was cleaned well, and we always had fresh towels. The only reasons I am not giving five stars is because before we left we were showering and packing, and the cleaning lady kept trying to get in our room. The first time I just laughed and yelled that we hadn't checked out yet (we still had 30 minutes until we had to). Then she came back a couple minutes later with a key trying to open the door! I was still not dressed from my shower so I just yelled again that we weren't checked out yet and she apologized and left us alone. It really wasn't a big deal - we laughed about it quite a bit actually. The other reason is that the walls are thin - we were woken up our first night by the people below us yelling at their neighbors that they could hear their TV. Also, we were in Room 7 and the wifi only worked on the balcony - not a huge deal but somewhat annoying. All in all, we would 100% stay here again!
My husband and I stayed here two nights and three days in mid-September, and we really enjoyed ourselves. We stayed on the third floor in the "Island View" room, which was lovely, though the bathroom is TINY and cramped. We loved, loved, loved the second-floor balcony porch and spent a lot of time reading and relaxing out there. It gives you a perfect view of the ferries coming in and going out and passengers disembarking. As others have mentioned, it's a great location in many ways. It's a little noisy because it's right on the main drag, but we found the sound-proofing in the room was ok, so that wasn't a bother. But on the plus side, it's right across from one of teh ferry lines, and it's right in the middle of a number of great places for groceries, dinner or ice cream and fudge - many are within a quarter-mile walk. Breakfast was fine, though I think they just reheat some things in the microwave. But the breakfasts were tasty and filling and they make available snacks and cold drinks 24/7. The staff were friendly and helpful without being intrusive in any way. I would definitely get a room here again.
We were looking for a reasonable and different experience than our normal Holiday and Hampton Inn which get very expensive when you are in a tourist area. My first impression when we pulled up in front was "oops, what have I done" as the exterior(although quaint) is looking shabby and in need of paint and some repairs. What a pleasant surprise when we got our room in the "motel" section. Very clean, thoughtfully decorated, freshly renovated with all the things you would expect from a fine hotel. All the lighting was new and a quiet ceiling fan above the bed. Working decorative electric fireplace as well. Our unit was a King bed 2 room suite. Price for this area was extremely reasonable around $70. I would definitely recommend and would stay here again when and if we get the opportunity.

Every once in a while you stumble upon a true gem while on your travels. Who knew that nestled close to Mackinaw was this amazing little restaurant. We took out responsibility as tourists very seriously when we came here...literally delaying our departure by an hour (or two) just so we could eat at this place. From a first glance, it does not look like anything special, i would even venture to say it looks like your typical bro bar, at first not even thinking that they had anything except for chicken wings... come a few yelp searches later, we noticed that there is food. At the time of our visit, yelp contributions were definitely lacking so we went out on a limb based on what we did see and decided to come check it out. OHBOY! i can now with confidence, say that this place needs to be visited to believe. the food here is piping hot, full of flavor, and large! I had the burger special at that time and my bf had the shrimp tacos, we shared the fried asparagus. everything was perfect and we were sad to leave Mackinaw and not be able to try this place's delicious food again.
We had gator bites with the white fish taco and Greek tacos. Our food was all great! We would go back next time we are in town. The patio would be a great time to throw back some drinks!
Great food. Great fun staff. Long ticket time. The whitefish is great. Just don't be in a hurry.

Great Restaurant and Bar. Relaxed here before heading over to Mackinac Island. Tammy and her Daughter served up smiles and laughter. Make no mistake the food here 5 stars. Cod Basket 8$ and Whitefish Ruben worth chosen. I was here durning lunch and it was mello and awesome.
Cheap bar food that was worth the drive. The service/staff get 5 stars. They were great! Some things tasted like they were pre-made or as my friend said the chicken tasted like fast food chicken if you know what that means. I figure it's a bar and you get what you pay for. I had the white fish sandwich which was so-so. Next time- I'll get the fries and burgers people keep recommending.
Worth checking out if you're in the area looking for bar good. The service was excellent. The food was pretty good, not great. I had a French dip. The meat was a little chewy and over cooked, but the pretzel bun helped make up for it. We ordered a pizza, it came out very greasy. 2 out of 3 eating it enjoyed it. The restaurant had a great atmosphere and very clean/updated restrooms. Unfortunately while eating we did have to listen to a full time St. Ignace resident sit at the bar and complain about "tourist" and how much he disliked people.

Service was great, the waitress was helpful and checked on us regularly. But food was average and wasn't done right. One of us ordered a steak to be medium rare but it came out well-done. We ordered another one to be rare but it still didn't come out right. Then we asked for extra shrimp for one of the entrees but it came out with NONE. Then they charged us for it but we pointed out the mistake and they took it off. Plus it was kind of pricey for the servings provided.
Easily the best place to eat in St Ignace. The menu offers so much more than traditional bar food and much of it is prepared fresh. The staff are also the friendliest in town. Never do they appear annoyed or put out to serve, like some of the other establishments around, no matter how busy. The dinner specials are typically inventive and not overplayed. The from scratch soups are great.
I have never left a rating this low and so I feel a little bad......and after reading the other reviews I'm wondering if it was an off night. But - - - I honestly have to say I've never had a restaurant meal this bad. We chose the Village Inn because it had the kind of casual menu we were looking for and we saw other folks' positive reviews. Oh boy...... My tomato bisque soup tasted just okay but was all lumpy and weird. My burger was greasy and simply looked unappetizing. I tasted my husband's clam chowder. Bad. He took one bite and left the rest. He said his open face Imperial sandwich was okay but it also looked unappetizing. The only thing they got right was our potsticker appetizer.

We had dinner at about 7:00 pm. When we walked in there was one other table of 2 on the other side of the small dining room. Service: 4/5 Service was fast and attentive. This could have been because the restaurant was empty but wait staff was very quick and very personable. The facility was very clean and well kept. Food was served on heavy plastic plates and drinks were in a foam cup, unless you ordered a can of soda. The only metal service pieces were the forks and gravy boat. Menu: 4/5 They had a surprisingly wide variety of food. When you see a huge sign out front that says Bessie's Homemade Pasties you really don't expect anything other than pasties. The menu offered a mixture of sandwiches as well as smoked fish and beef jerky. The prices were a little higher than I would expect; an average pasty running $6.00. Food: 3/5 The pastie I had was dry and nothing special. I've had some homemade pasties from back home and those were on par with these pasties. For being a specialty these lacked wow. Summary: All in all it was a good trip, but not great. The service was excellent but the whole experience was a little less than I hoped for. All in all a positive experience and I would eat here again.
Skip it! Food was dry, one in our party has a food allergy but they really could have cared less! Not worth your money or time.
Pasties here are terrific. Got the Yooper Man pastie in addition to two original pasties. Friendly, fast service. We stop every time we travel to the UP.

The Mackinac Bridge was closed and traffic was horrendous. With two young ones, we needed to find a place to eat and use the restroom. Came about the Hillside House and what a pleasant surprise. Facilities were clean, staff was friendly, and food came out prompt and delicious. Was a very nice way to forget about the traffic backup on the bridge. Would highly recommend.
The whitefish (broiled) was excellent. The chicken strips were lightly breaded, as they should be, and properly seasoned.
Breakfast was good. Service wasn't the greatest; we both ran out of OJ, was never offered more. Once we got our food, our waitress never came back to check on us.

After reading several Yelp reviews about how good this place is, I reluctantly decided to give it a try. I ordered the Whitefish bits as an appetizer. They were extremely fishy tasting and not of good quality. For an entree, I ordered the boneless wings; half sweet chipotle and the other half Caribbean jerk. I was charged extra for splitting the flavors, which I thought was strange. However, the wings themselves were good quality.
Nice place to go, good atmosphere. A bit of a local sports bar feel. Place was clean with a good menu. Staff was very polite. Men's room was laid out a bit funky with a urinal behind the door. Could be an awkward moment using that urinal and getting hit by the door. I would come back.
Great food, service and location. Highly recommend paper bag fish and plank fish. Most dinners in 12-16 price range.

If you're looking for a family restaurant that serves good food and has good service this is your spot. We had the biscuits and gravy, BLT, club sandwich and Reuben sandwich. All the dishes were spot on. Our waitress was sweet as pie. I didn't catch her name but she has red hair and is so friendly. The service and food were equally good.
So very excruciatingly slow - 10 min wait just to get a table for breakfast. And 40 min later still no food!! For breakfast! Eggs and toast! How is this even possible! The French toast bake was mediocre at best. The hash browns were undercooked, soft and completely bland. The coffee was watery. I was at pancake chef in mackinaw city yesterday. Just a bridge apart, and what a difference! This place could learn many things from Pancake Chef. And learn hash browns from Waffle House! Never coming back here again, and suggest you don't either.
Stopped in on our way back across the bridge. There was 6 of us, we all enjoyed our breakfast and had great service. I would recommend this restaurant. Give it a try!
