My friends ordered some form of shrimp soup and they appeared to enjoy it. The ambiance is lovely. Normally, I'd have given a 3 or 3.5 stars in part based in part on the competent (but not Earth shattering) spring rolls, but I ordered the Hot and Spicy Chicken - extra hot and extra spicy. These fine people delivered. I explained that it's very rare to encounter food as hot as I'd like it to be. I'm one of those freaks who wants to walk away from that meal dripping sweat with a mouth that burns for half an hour to an hour later. The cook at The Panda House tossed in a pile of chilis and my meal was served with an extra side dish featuring a chili paste of sorts. It was delicious, and definitely met my baseline standards for hot food! Congratulations. This makes two establishments in the state of Michigan that so far have served food as hot as I wanted it to be. It could have been hotter, but I'm satisfied and would absolutely go back. My three friends enjoyed their meals very much as well. The price was right and the service was also good.

Sorry, this place was at one time a solid 10 but I think the original owners sold out. The Generals Chicken is now bland. I asked for extra spicy and got no heat at all. Big portions but I can only give it a 2.

They have some of the best egg drop soup I've ever had and the portions are huge. Great food for a pretty standard price. Always a good lunch hour option.

I've only been here twice but I really liked their food. It doesn't look like much on the outside but it's really nice inside. They even have a piano here. The service both times has been good and the food is so delicious that I didn't have leftovers either time.

This place has always been a local favorite ! Can't go wrong with the atmosphere and service (especially when they have someone playing the piano typically on the weekends)- A great place for a lovely meal. My ultimate favorite - rock salt shrimp, just can't go wrong with this great dish. Great hot and sour soup (which doesn't have pork in it, a plus for me!) and many other great items including garlic chicken, string beans, vegetable lo mein. Would definitely recommend!

Average Chinese food, nothing to rave about. The first time I had their food I wasn't impressed and the second was repeat of the first so there will be no third time. There are ample portions when ordering take out but, the food is bland tasting. China City on Michigan has better take out food.

I was in Saginaw over the weekend for my cousin's bridal shower. It was held at Panda House. I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised. Having never been there before, I wasn't sure what to expect. The staff was incredibly attentive but not in the way. We had a long table set up in the sunken part of the dining room. The light coming in the large windows made the atmosphere very nice for the special occasion. We had a limited menu but guests were also told they could order anything off the regular menu if they wished. I had the Stringbean chicken. I ordered it "medium" and woooooo, it was hot. I thought I could handle spice but maybe I'm wrong. That being said, it had amazing flavor. I was so glad I had some leftovers to bring back home to Chicago with me and enjoyed them yesterday. The dish was just as good the 2nd time around. Overall, the experience was great. The food was great, the ambiance was warm, and staff was very friendly and helpful. Since most of my family lives in Saginaw, I am there quite a few times a year. I look forward to my next visit and a trip to Panda House.

Decent standard American Chinese food. Seriously it was good maybe in part cuz I was hungry hungry hippo tearing it up. Good stuff- Rock salt shrimp: lightly battered shrimp with bamboo carrots broccoli etc (basic stir fry veggies). Chicken and green beans. Vegetable fried rice.

After hearing great reviews from friends, my boyfriend and I decided to give Panda House a try. We were so disappointed. The egg rolls were obviously deep fried yesterday and reheated in a pan before being served to us. My boyfriend's crispy duck was likely cooked with the egg rolls the day before because it was very dry and far from crispy. It was also served on shredded taco lettuce. Gross! My hot and sour soup was sub-par and my lo-mien was swimming in sauce. The only positive thing I can say is that our waitress was really nice.

Located on the East side (other side of the river) of Saginaw, this restaurant has an authentic feel to it. Lots of Chinese art and decorations. Environment: Relatively large restaurant (two dining rooms). Well lit. Tables well-spaced apart. Zen fountains found throughout the restaurant. Food is good quality and there's enough to satisfy the hungriest person. Menu is robust (multiple ways of cooking pork, chicken, beef, etc.) Ordered the princess chicken. Probably not spicy enough.

very nice has piano in main dinning room and a nice bar in the casual dinning area. the food is top quality. Try the rock salt shrimp order zero if you don't like any heat in your food. It has awesome flavor weather you like it spicy or not. The almond chicken is also outstanding. Nice helpful wait staff make it an all around great dinning experience. Don't let the fact that this restaurant is on the east side deter you from trying it. It is safe and clean, and frequented by hospital workers and executives alike

When I went it was a quiet Sunday. The interior has such nice decorations! I thought it was cute. I went with a party of 10, and despite the size of the party, we were seated immediately in our own room. The prices are pretty good, and the combo prices don't break the bank either. The food was awesome - I got the Chicken Chow Mein - but I tried some other things and all of it was flavorful! Only four stars because our server was inattentive, which caused our food to be lukewarm.

Took a chance on this place a few weeks ago and stopped again today. Finally a quality Chinese restaurant that won't disappoint. The egg drop soup is far superior to the thick, yellow goop at most places. Crab cheese is good with green onions in it. Egg roll was pretty decent, maybe just a little greasy but flavor was good. I had farmers market w chicken and that was good, too. Ambience is pleasant and food comes out fast. Would recommend this place and Pasong's when in Saginaw for good Asian meal.

It gets worse. Not only do they screw up your order, I get sick off it.

I have been a regular customer of Panda House throughout the past two decades. New owners took over and I was worried. It has gone down a couple notches since then. I decided to give them a try for lunch today. Upon entering, I noticed how fresh-smelling the place was. Either the carpet was changed or it's being shampooed regularly. I felt things were starting on a good note. I ordered the General Tso's chicken, as part of the lunch special. I asked if it came with Crab Cheese and soup. The blond hostess tells me no. I ask for a menu and sit down. Looking at the menu, I saw that there was a luncheon special that offered all that with your entree! I then asked the lady if I could get that, and how much extra it would cost. She tells me that it would cost 70 cents. No biggie, I happily paid it. The orders come out. The manager gives the first gentleman his order, then he has an order of Princess Chicken that he has no clue who it's going to. The hostess knows; it's supposed to go to me, and she points in my direction. I look at her inquisitively, back to the manager and shake my head no. She changes her tone and says "You did order the Princess Chicken! You just did it when you changed your order!" I asked her if she was serious, at no point had I ordered the Princess Chicken or mentioned it! I told her that I just wanted the General Tso's luncheon special. She continues speaking to me in an aggressive, nasty tone, to which I respond to these accusations in kind. There were two other parties of guests in the restaurant, one in the private area, and one in the dining room that could hear everything. I looked at both of them, wondering if she would curb her behavior, or if the manager would deal with her. Nothing, she was free to do as she pleased! I implored the manager to work the situation out. I asked him if they made the General Chicken with gold? Why couldn't they make it into a lunch special like their other competitors? He tells me that "The Panda House is better than the other Chinese restaurants in the city and they don't operate like them." I replied "Like China City, the place that seems to get the most business around here?" I said I would pay the extra dollar or so to get the General Chicken. He refused. I then said, in frustration, "All you had to do was work with me, I would have paid three extra dollars for that General Chicken lunch special. What is the problem?" The manager responded to my exasperated, exaggerated response with total enthusiasm! He would take $3 extra to give me my lunch special! Unbelievable! I told him to give me back my money, and they were already in the process of doing so. It was total amateur hour. I've seen teenagers at Wendy's handle these customer situations better. This is not how a longtime customer should be treated. The people at China City have never messed up any of my orders, and they're not even native English speakers. I've ordered in person and over the phone, and never had a mistake. I'm definitely not the only one that has complained about Panda House in recent years either. Something is wrong!

My family and I are staying in town on a vacation and I recommended Chinese, so like any good foody we turned to yelp, and ended up at a fantastic restraunt, panda house. I would recommend this for anyone who has great taste. The atmosphere was very relaxing, the restrooms and entire place was spotless, and the decor was beautiful. Shortly after arriving we were delighted to have live piano music played to us. The quality of the food was excellent and the way it is served is wonderful as well. Our plates were warmed and they brought our a separate dish of rice for everyone to share. Me, being the lover of sweet sweet and sour chicken, I HAD to try theirs. I got egg drop soup to start with which was better then any I've ever had, and when the food arrived I was just as pleased. If you love good food you'll love the Panda House!

Very mediocre. The food was bland, the waitress was rude, and I The two room set up was very strange. Building was in disrepair. I have heard good things about this place, but I will never go back and definitely would not recommend it. Basically if your food isn't as good as panda express, you need to try harder.

The Panda House is excellent. The food is very authentic and it isn't a new business, so obviously they have been doing something right to survive in the area they are located. I always forget about this place when I am considering eating out, but when I do eat here I am never disappointed!

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
