Went for lunch and got myself the $8 chicken chimichanga lunch special... great value. The chimichanga was a nice size, loaded with chicken, and had a tasty cheese sauce covering it. The chicken on the inside was really juicy, but it could have used some seasoning. That's alright though, the cheese sauce on the chimichanga and nice array of hot sauces on the table made that acceptable... it's not like it was dry (ew, dry chicken). The rice was fairly mediocre, but the beans were a bit better than average. The chips are freshly made and unsalted, which I really appreciated. What bothered me was that I found a string of plastic in my salsa... is it bagged or something? Whether it is or isn't doesn't matter all that much because I still thought it was good. I came hungry and left pretty much uncomfortably for for eight bucks. It's no Taqueria Lupita's in Detroit, but it's still above average.

The tortilla chips and salsa you get are pretty good. They arrive quickly after you sit down, which is great! If you like tough steak, get the steak burrito. Otherwise I suggest getting something with Chicken.

Mediocre food for above average prices. Went in on a Friday night excited for some Mexican food. Was very disappointed. Shared chicken and steak fajitas. While they were well cooked, they had no flavor. Tiny pieces of steak and chicken were over powered by bland onions, peppers, and tomatoes. After we each made a taco for ourselves we needed to wade through the veggies to find bits of bland meat. Chips were good but, order of guacamole that I had ordered and side of queso I had ordered were bland, tasteless, and expensive. Waitress was good but, the final insult to the night was them being out of their special dessert of tres leches. It was only 6pm! Over all, very disappointed and unfulfilling night.

I absolutely recommend this is the place to go for great tasting seasoned food. Always juicy, very professional staff & friendly. Bathrooms are a little tight squeeze. The dishes that come with the melted cheese sauce are awesome I had the Burrito Mexicano with shredded beef. Salsa is great & they have the options on the table to amp up the spice level, when I done in I use 3 drops of the Xtra hot red sauce & it's perfect for my tastebuds. I have loved this restaurant every since they were in Bay City & leaped for joy when they opened in Saginaw & now that they're in the mall parking lot old Texan bldg I appreciate them even more, lots of accommodations for groups/office parties. Mexican/Spanish inspired decor. It's worth the price & food is delicious.

The best damn chicken chimichanga. ever. Los Cuatros started out in Bay City years ago and seems to have done pretty well, which I'm happy about. They successfully branched out to their Saginaw location, and Midland (not sure what's going on with that location now...). I eat at any of the LC locations every chance I get - and I've pretty much given up on any other dish because that chx chimi is so dang good, I have to order it every single time. The chimi is a good size, stuffed full of shredded chx/onion/pepper, it's crispy fried and topped with an ooey gooey white cheese sauce that I'd like to use on most foods I eat, from here on out. The plate also comes with good portions of refried beans, mexi-rice and a salad/salsa/guacamole garnish. It's the perfect combination. Hot chips and fresh salsa (complimentary) are served upon being seated, and refilled anytime you want. I've always had pleasant, prompt service, and food always seems to come out quickly. Menu prices are low/fair, and they always have drink specials and lunch deals. I'm getting hungry just writing about this....

I really enjoy eating at Los Cuatro Amigos. The food comes in huge portions, so prepare to be stuffed when you leave, and in my case - I always take a box of food home with me. The waitstaff is friendly, the restaurant is very clean! No complaints!

Good authentic Mexican food. Great chips and salsa are served before your meal but don't fill up because the portions are generous.

1st. Server couldn't understand english. That's kinda hard. I coulda tried espanol I guess. The chips are thick and not so greasy and the salsa is well, pretty bland (super mild, especially for a habanero lover). They have tapatio! I love it. The mushroom quesadilla is delicious with its spinach tortilla crisped just right and blend of cheeses and mushrooms that made it taste almost like a chicken mushroom alfredo...in a tortilla. It comes with the usual weaksauce version of mexican salad, iceberg strips and a little pico. I added guacamole for 79 cents in place of sour cream. The spinach enchilada comes covered in a green chile or tomatillo salsa. I couldn't tell exactly which it was but Its pretty decent. The refried beans are bland but the spanish rice is flavorful and good. Again my server didn't understand the english so I didn't get to take home my quesadilla goodness. And I kept getting regular coke instead of diet. Oh well the food was good. Apparently their midland location delivers in quality as well.

Cheap Mexican beer specials and great table service earned Los Cuatro Amigos 2 of these stars... Food was ok, not terrible but nothing special and much more expensive than Rico's down the road. My chimichanga lacked something but my amigos' fajita looked much more tasty! The burrito is always greener on the other side [sigh]

One of our 'groups' favorite hang outs in the tri-cities area. The staff are notably quick, some more than others (Eddie, you are FAST!). The food is down right authentic, from the cheese filled poblanos, to the corn tortilla carne asada. We used to come in for 1/2 off appetizers after 8pm, multiple times per week. One of my biggest complaints, correct me if I am wrong, but LCA as we call it used to have 1/2 off all drinks after 8pm and they have recently revoked this tantalizing special (a magnet for many SVSU students right down the road, I might add). So, that is somewhat disappointing, but I will still be back for nachos and a beer!

A group of 7 of us had dinner. Service was pretty good, though we had a slight language barrier with the server. If you get the margarita, the jumbo margaritas really are jumbo - they're the size of a baby's head. Separate vegetarian section (not a lot there) and there are some vegetarian options, such as veggie fajitas, in other sections. I tried the potato flautas, which I can't recommend; they're deep fried potato chunks in deep-fried tortillas, so there's no flavor to speak of. The dish with various meats in a spicy sauce in the lava bowl really is huge; serves two at least.

Only eaten there once. Not a big fan of mexican food. The burrito was okay. Fajitas are a better choice. Service is mediocre. Waiters did not return to our table to check if our food was good or refill water.

After flying in from California yesterday afternoon I had dinner there with my family last night, and the food was great! I wish more items were not fried, however the dish I ate, shrimp enchiladas was pretty tasty...and not fried! My sisters dish took a while to prepare and the staff were very apologetic about it. They took her meal off our bill since she waited so long. In that respect, I thought what great customer service. Overall, I enjoyed my meal and my family did as well. I will go back next time I'm in town again.

Driving past the other afternoon our eyes were drawn to the sign which stated $.99 cent drafts the previous day, we could look forward to tomorrows $1.99 Mexican bottles special. The following day, we were lucky to be back in the area and stopped in. Not very busy, but, it was pretty early in the afternoon. To be honest I never stop at random Mexican food places, mostly because I've had it in metropolitan areas and it's never as good as in states closer to the border like Texas. Walking into the restaurant after having entered the main door we were greeted by familiar smells. Perhaps this building used to be a Pizza hut before? If you've had childhood memories at Pizza hut, you'll know what I mean. No entrance greeting, although there was a token chick at the front, minding to a floating customer. I told her we'd be at the bar and she chased after us with menus. After some time the waitress that was sitting a few feet away with her muchacho munching on nachos approached us. Complimentary chips and bland salsa appeared on the table. Not a biggie, we weren't in a hurry and at the looks of things these two were the bar waitstaff and we were their only table. Ordered up a couple cervezas and my cousin found the most excellente item on the menu. "Molcajete" if you are unfamiliar with the word, Google it. Their menu has got photos and good explanations, because of that, we were able to find this special dish. The molcajete is a solid piece of lava rock or stone tool which is used to grind up spices. What the cooks have done here is ground up spices which was used in a orangey brown soup which constantly marinates a bevvy of meats and selection of veggies. The stone is heated so it keeps the dish HOT and when the rock is brought to the table the soup is bubbling! Even up to twenty five minutes later the meats and soup are still piping hot, bubbling, hot still that we both burnt our tongues. The taste is spicy and tasty so much that even while burning the top layer of skin off our tongues, we wouldn't dare spit out! Thank goodness for the Mexican beer special, two rounds in and we had put a serious dent on that meal. I believe one bowl was around fifteen dollars and is large enough for two, though we were on a taste and drink hunt, so we avoided eating a lot. This dish also comes with eight pieces of corn or flour tortillas. This is a must try and something to wow friends or a date with. This place compared to some of the other local Mex joints has a lot more heart, upon entering you are greeted with brightly colored wall paintings of typical home settings from Mexico. The waitstaff was warm and attentive, not very gifted in language as some things were lost in translation. Music and what was playing on the TVs, I couldn't really tell you. The men's room; a sign on the outside of it read.. beware" Inside it was a typical bathroom but one thing that was hard to deal with was the overpowering smell of rubbing alcohol. Which begs the question..why would rubbing alcohol have such a strong smell in the restroom? It's cost to clean a room would be extravagant, why? In any typical setting while using rubbing alcohol you MUST have a ventilated room otherwise, passing out could be possible. Just a weird little thought I wanted to share. Maybe this was a one time thing. I wish we sampled a half price margarita, great prices starting from $1. something up to $3.75 and take that price and half it, that's bad ass. BUT we had already decided to head to El Mexicano for 99 cent margaritas.

they have no seasoning in the enchiladias, wife got beef quesadilla, we thought it would be ground beef and cheese, the man bring a tortilla with big chunks of beef, we ordered our food the man brought it about right away in about 2 min, reheat or what i dont know, real mexican food does have spices. The most important and frequently used spices in Mexican cuisine are chile powder, cumin, oregano, cilantro, epazote, cinnamon, and cocoa. Chipotle, a smoke-dried jalapeño chili, is also common in Mexican cuisine. Many Mexican dishes also contain garlic and onions.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
