Always great service. I've tried many of their dishes and have always been very satisfied. If you're on a protein diet, stick with the fajitas. The chorizo con juevos is another favorite. The prices are fair and the service is great!

Yes, identical to Los Cuatros Amigos, but that's not a bad thing. The food at both places is quite good. Not completely authentic, but that doesn't bother me in the slightest... good food's good food. The bad thing is that I will say you should expect your incredibly good looking girlfriend to be mentally undressed by a creepy Russian man who's eating with his family. I'm not sure I've ever seen such intense staring from somebody in a public place. Maybe he just wants to kill her. I don't know. It was slightly uncomfortable. ...Okay, anyway, Coco Loco's pre' tasty. My girlfriend got a chimichanga that wasn't fried (uh.. a burrito), but it was taken care of quickly without issue. If you like Los Cuatros Amigos and want somewhere "new" in Saginaw... go to Coco Loco. I mean I guess the interior and menu look different...

Not much new to say that hasn't already been said: 1. Fast. 2. Great chips and salsa. 3. Huge portions, relatively cheap, and pretty good quality. Only thing I'll add that I read below from another person...Their margaritas used to be a lot better. Something changed over the fall, as my last few visits, they weren't as good as they used to be--and I've tried a few since.

I still really like this tex-mex food, we go a lot! So I've been here enough and tried a sample of things to recommend not ordering a couple of things: dont order the enchiladas, which are served with what tastes like tomato sauce (??), it was odd since I expected chili sauce. And also do not order anything with the ground beef, it's so bland! It's like they don't use any spice or seasoning in the ground beef, very disappointing. I love their tortilla chips, but the salsa has no heat and does have cilantro which can be a surprise if you don't like it. It's like they are afraid to use spice and heat in their dishes! Otherwise I recommend the chimichangas and fajitas, chicken, shrimp, or shredded beef. All delicious! I really love the beans and rice, and the tortillas they make in house are really good. I recommend this place to everyone I know with those few tips.

Not bad! We'd go back again. Pros: cheap food, good food, fast service, huge cheap margaritas that were stronger than they tasted, free chips and salsa, great tortillas made in house, large portions Cons: our waiter hadn't tried any of their food, margaritas were not highest quality, service was only okay, they charge for all kinds of extras. I recommend the fajitas, think the waiters should try some food before they start waiting, and don't like that you get charged for extra tortillas (three is not enough for the huge plate of food). Overall, we had a good experience.

Coco Loco is the latest of many Mexican Restaurants at this location and we tried for the first time yesterday. The prices were reasonable and the portions were huge! The service was fast, attentive & friendly. We were eating at prime dinner time; after ordering, our food was out incredibly fast! Two of us shared the Fiesta for two, it had a taste of all the meats (chicken, steak, pork & shrimp), fajita veggies, quesadillas, rice & a tasty chorizo cheese dip. It easily could have fed 4 given the chips & salsa you get when you sit down. We took home half the meal! The house margaritas were standard, a bright green generic mix on the rocks, nothing to write home about. The frozen drinks around us looked good.

I'll keep this review short and simple: 1) Homemade Chips, homemade salsa, homemade guacamole, homemade tortillas -- what more could you ask for? 2) Large amounts of food for what you pay (fajitas were $11.99 and had way too much food for me) 3) Friendly waitstaff and bartenders 4) Remote location, but do not let that deter you 5) Tacky decor, yes, but who cares when you got solid food? This will definitely be in my rotation while in the Saginaw area!

Very good service. Very good food. Not the type of Mexican you would expect in Mall Hell. Food was fresh. Really impressive table service, most Mexican restaurants suck at table service, but this place is great at it.

This was our first time here and we will definitely be back! My husband and I each got a meal and I got a margarita and the bill was only $25! They start you off with chips and homemade salsa. And my husband usually finishes my meal and he was so full from his that he couldn't. The food was excellent and the servers was wonderful! The food comes out pretty fast so if your in a hurry it's great.

I had a chimichanga for lunch for only $8. My whole plate was covered. It came with rice, beans, sour cream, guac...It was delicious. I'm usually one to eat everything on my plate, but there was so much food that I actually took half home. There was even a lady in the corner making what looked like tortillas. Good to know it's fresh here!

My all time favorite Mexican restaurant. Servers are friendly, and the drinks are HUGE! Cheese enchiladas and cheese dip are the best!

Coco Loco is my favorite Tex-Mex place in town. The decor is great; colorful. Lime margaritas are usually always on special and they taste great! They have a full stock of imported Mexican beers and liquors. My go to meal are the cheese enchiladas. Please eat here!

Fast service. Had chicken soup and a chicken chimichanga a la carte. With extra pico. Chimi was good but soup was even better. Small bowl is pretty big, too.

It's in the El Mexicano building. It's still the exact same except they remodeled and changed the name. They even used the old menus for a few months. The same thing as Los Cuatro Amigos down the street. They even bought the same incredibly tacky decorated tables and chairs. Let's start off with the alcohol. They have a A LOT of tequila. Like 40 different kinds. Be careful because a few of them are $15 or 25 a shot. They have quite a few Mexican beers as well. The margaritas on the other hand, yuck. A huge sour mess. I've been here with a ton of people and nobody finishes them. They will wreck your stomach. They're huge but they are disgusting. Moving on to the food, it's hit or miss. It's scary how fast the food comes out. I'm sure they're just picking stuff out of the fridge and microwaving it. The rice is a dry mess and the beans are just basically a brown liquid. I realize it's hard for a place to keep a good texture on beans and rice since they have to sit for so long, but now I just order al a carte, no point in the dinners that include the beans and rice. The enchiladas come in a red tomato sauce which is a little bit weird. The other Mexican restaurants in the area serve them in a brown chile sauce, so just make sure you know what you're getting if that's what you're expecting. The tamales are pretty gross. Your safest bet is to do what I do, and just order anything that is mostly meat or covered in cheese. The chicken chimichanga is probably frozen but it's covered in liquid cheese and you can't argue with that. The carne asada tacos, quesadilla, and the carnitas are all pretty good. Once in a while you will get some meat that is just insanely salty. Not sure if they aren't tasting the food or if there's one cook without tastebuds or what. If it's so salty that you need a whole glass of water to get your mouth back to normal, just send it back. Some things are really odd. A server kept bringing out flour tortillas when corn was ordered. He did it 3 times in a row, and the final time he stayed at the table while we opened the foil that the tortillas are in. Apparently they aren't allowed to do that before they bring them to the table? The chips and salsa are good but do not pay for a side of guacamole. It's like this green flavorless pudding. Very runny. If you're expecting a chunky guacamole with pieces of tomato and onion in it, you're in for a surprise. Gross. Also, don't go when wrestling or a soccer game is on. Nobody will come check on your table and your food will come out very slowly and your order will be all messed up. All the staff will be sitting in the booths by the TV watching WWE.

Good tex-mex food, great atmosphere, fast service and reasonable prices. Tried a combination plate to sample a few things and nothing disappointed, even the rice and beans were good. Definitely worth checking out.

As a TEXAS Boy... gotta admit... I kinda liked it! No.. .it's not authentic Mexican food (who would ever eat that stuff?)... it's Tex-Mex and it's Delicious! It was during lunch, so I didn't get to make my way through the menu... but the chips were hot and fresh... the salsa tasted a little like tomato paste, and it could use a little help-but it actually wasn't too bad. I had the fajitas... they were a huge mound of food, with onions, green peppers, and fire roasted tomatoes that exploded in your mouth! Sour Cream and Guac on the side... no upcharge! I completely forgot there wasn't cheese in my meal, I was so happy! I'll be back here a lot! 5 STARS

Good fast service. Great prices. Good food. Worth checking out. I got the Carna Asada tacos and the meat was tender and flavorful. Good prices on draft beer too. I will be back

If you're in the area trying to find a place to eat, stop looking on your phone and just hit "navigate", then read the rest of this review on the way there. You won't find anything else better! If you are anywhere nearby, make it a destination for a margarita or even to watch sports, they've got satellite and TV's are plenty! Quick rating: Service: Excellent. Friendly. Efficient. Fun. Manager was present on floor and at table to check on things. Cleanliness: Very clean, from the floors/walls/table to the dishware and server appearance. Ambiance: An unforeseen surprise, perfect for any outing: Couples, families, girl's or guy's nights out - their bar even makes it a nice secret spot to catch the sports. Food: For the price? Excellent. In comparison to the Darden mess of restaurants in the area? Excellent. In comparison to the authentic Mexican restaurants that I have visited in or out of this country, or higher end Mexican restaurants? Average at best, but also 1/3 the price and still BETTER than its local peers. I feel like we definitely missed out on their drinks. They have homemade sangria and a wide variety of tequila, with a margarita glass that could be used as a carry on. As my sister and I were passing through on our way to I75, we were desperately looking for somewhere to stop and eat but were surrounded by all chain and/or Darden restaurants! Come on Saginaw! As we all do in this situation, we "yelp for help" and see what we can find. Coco Loco was in the running with 5 stars and 3 reviews so we decided to turn around and go 2 miles in the wrong direction with high hopes and low expectations. We are so glad we did! Pulling up to the plain yellow building had us wondering what was in store for us but from the second that the door was opened and we were greeted we knew that we had hit the jackpot. We stepped out of the dreary parking lot in Saginaw and into a world of color, genuine hospitality and passion. The host that seated us was full of smiles and jokes as he led us to our table. The complimentary salsa that was provided is not very spicy and a little Prego-ish so we ordered the Spicy Pico de Gallo and mixed it in - DELICIOUS! Upon seeing what we were doing our server told us that he loved to mix the Pico de Gallo with their Queso Salsa Mexicana and brought us out a small dish to try. I mixed them together and agreed with him that it was an excellent combination. The jalepenos in the Spicy Pico de Gallo were a little too much for my sister so our server was tested on the drink refills and he kept up with flying colors. I ordered a wet burrito and she ordered the taco salad bowl. HEALTHY ALTERNATIVE: She got the salad without the bowl and got all of the goodies (sour cream, guacamole, cheese, etc) on the side so that she could enjoy a gluten free, healthful meal. The burrito was good although maybe a little less flavorful than I would have expected. The meat was quite bland and just looked like your regular ground hamburger meat. Once I got my check, however, I changed my mind and decided that this was a "Great Value". The two of us had the appetizer of Pico de Gallo, our 2 entrees, and 2 beverages (non-alcoholic) for $19.78. In any event, every single thing I tasted was better than what you would be served at Crapplebees, Dead Lobster or any of the other surrounding chain behemoths of restaurants and Coco Loco also has something that is priceless: Service. When we were finished we had a chance to speak with the owner and WHOA - this is a guy with passion. He actually owns three other restaurants and is opening up another Coco Loco (I believe it will have the same name) in Bay City. We remarked on how fun all the colors were: The chairs, tables and walls are all covered with murals. He pointed out one of the murals on the wall and that it showed the entire process of making Tequila, which he had learned in Mexico. It was plain to see that this guy loves Tequila! I would venture to guess that he has an assortment available at his restaurant that you will not be able to find at any other restaurants in the city. As he talked about his restaurant(s) we could see how much this restauranteer is striving to create an environment that is unlike anywhere else where people can come and enjoy themselves and create new experiences. He has a live mariachi come and play from time to time and even has a station out in the restaurant where you can watch the cooks make tortillas! I would have loved to give them a 5 star review but could not because the food didn't quite hit it. Although it is great for the price - they can do better. Any place that has a menu over 1 page can probably improve on something, and their menu is I believe 8 pages. But what they lack in robust flavor and authenticity, they make up for ten fold in atmosphere and service. We would go back. In fact, I would say that the next time we are in Saginaw we might make it a destination for their margaritas, which are HUGE!

Chicken in my chimichanga and on nachos was cold. Disorganized wait staff (hostess randomly promoted to our waitress after seating us and she had no real knowledge of the menu or how to wait tables. She was surprised as we were that she was our waitress).

From walking in to sitting down, at first I'm thinking like very tacky Mexican. I think I like it. Homemade Chata and Sangria sitting as display. Funky little Mexican pic'd swiveled bar stools. That anyone with ADHD would love. We sat at the bar. I was sold on the Sangria which was really good and tasty. Served with Chips and salsa to hold you over while ordering. Homemade salsa had a nice fav and the chip a nice crunch. All good so far. Yay! Bc I'm very hard to please. We started with Guacamole Salad which was a good. For the entree we order Parrillada Mexican. Shrimp, steak, chicken, sautéed onions, tomatoes, and bell peppers. Topped with a pork chop and ranchero sauce. Beans, rice, pico de gallo, sour cream, guacamole and lettuce on the side. The pork chop was so, I mean so Salty! Almost like it was cooked Perfect then an evil sibling came and dumped salt on it when you wasn't looking. I was like REALLY! Then I jumped into the rest looking to see if it was just the pork or everything was bathed in salt. It wasn't cooked in salt the salt was poured after cooked. Pretty much all the meat was salted but not as bad as the pork. The rice tasted as if stirred with butter like country crock after it was cooked. The pico was ok but Meijer Deil is better. The beans was the best part and I hate refried beans. For desert which at this point I just should of stopped. I had to complete this review by ordering the Flan. Which was decent. But no warning of whip cream and chocolate. I prefer just the Flan with extra syrup. Which I thought needed more. Overall ok little place with salty food. So if a heart attack is desired in your near future this is the place for you. Or maybe it was a bad night from the cook.

Even though this restaurant is a drive from where I live, it is worth it. The decor is amazing, very colourful. Has live music sometimes. Food is as good as it is going to get in Michigan - pretty impressed compared to other Mexican restaurants in this region.

I decided to meet at this restaurant for a casual girls night out. I wanted something I thought would be festive and fun for dinner and a couple drinks. This place far exceeded my expectations. The overall dining experience was as good as a Mexican restaurant gets. The chairs, tables, walls, booths and even bathroom were decorated with fantastic colors and displays of Mexican decor. The service was great, the food delicious and the Lime Margaritas tasty! I started my night with a "medium" sized blended Lime Margarita. The "medium" looked almost like the size of a pitcher, it was huge and yummy. I ordered La Botana which was an awesome nacho dish with beans, grilled steak, chicken and all the Mexican fixings of sour cream and guacamole. The night was even more festive with live Mariachis that sung to every table. I would definitely recommend this place for a good time with family or friends and I plan to go back for more.

A huge update from when it was El Mexicano. The food tastes amazing and fresh. The tortillas are authentic and freshly made. Service is petty good. But the food is amazing! The decor and atmosphere is very authentic and colorful and bright. My favorite Mexican restaurant in the tri city area.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
