Ordered the General Tso Chicken combo 2 separate times.. one with shrimp fried rice and the other with chicken fried rice. The combos have so much food in them, they can easily feed 2 people for under $10 or you can have 2 or 3 meals out of it.. You get the entree, fried rice, an egg roll and a dinner roll. I preferred the chicken fried rice over the shrimp fried rice. Tender pieces of chicken. By the way, the shrimp fried rice is $2 more.. The General Tso Chicken pieces were crispy as they should be with a delightful sauce.. You can get it mild or spicy.. I prefer mild. Not much to look at from the outside (or from the inside).. I do not recall seeing any windows in the place but you can get a great deal and the food is tasty...

Ordered some Chicken Lo Mein and Dumplings from here last night and was not impressed and will probably never order from there again. The dumplings were decent (a little on the chewy side), but the lo mein was lacking. It had very little chicken in it and as far as vegetables there were like two carrot shavings, two pea pods, a handful of water chestnuts, some slimy nasty mushrooms and a crap ton of celery. It was very sub-par to say the least which was disappointing.

I ordered takeout S&S Chicken and it was a disappointment - to say the least. When I opened the container I was shocked to see that the sweet and sour sauce was a bright fluorescent pink. It looked like an industrial cleaning product and was tart and tasteless. Yuck! Never again will I eat here and it's disappointing considering this place had such great food during the 80's and 90's. I wonder where it went wrong?

Third strike, they're out! Gave several chances here & it's just getting worse and worse. Inside it is so filthy I am surprised the health dept lets it remain open. The food is beyond horrible. Don't waste your time or money - was a good place in the 90's. Not any more.

..." sigh "...OK... here is what happened. My mom I walked in around 12:30pm and the place was empty...Not even an employee, " Hello...Hello" after about 30 seconds a lady comes out from the back that looks like we interrupted her sleep,, she sat us at a table, I informed her that I had a BOGO coupon ( you have to order a dinner portion to use the coupon, $7 max off the bill ) the dinner menu was complicated and most of it look like it was a copy of a copy of a copy from a Xerox machine, I got the ABC dinner combination and my mom ordered the Chinese fried shrimp Ala cart, ( you have to pay something like $2 extra (+/-) for egg roll and dinner roll and soup ) the waitress brought 2 bowls of won ton and those crispy straw shaped cracker things, I notice something on the edge of my bowl, thinking it was part of the veggies that are in the soup I went to move it, only to find out it was something HARD AND CRUSTY...AAAHHHHH.... I told the waitress and she said " Oh that's just part of the soup " I told its HARD AND CRUSTY...AAAHHH. she apologized and brought over a new bowl of soup. Now. the soup was good and the cracker things were good, she brought over 2 glasses of water ( no ice in them...? ) and asked if we would like something else to drink. we both ordered 2 diet pops, shortly the waitress brought them over, the pop tasted flat and tasteless, I brought this to the waitresses attention and she said " oh, your probably used to drinking coke and not used to drinking Pepsi "....um...what? ( I said this to myself ).OK, I said, she left, 2 other people and came in and was seated almost next to us. That's one thing I have a pet peeve about is when they sit other customers next or near you in a EMPTY RESTAURANT. I over heard the other customers order lunch size meals, all 4 meals came out at the same time, my mom I dinner portions and the other customers lunch portion, after taking a quick look I noticed that all meals size are almost the same except that our plates were bigger. I couldn't believe it, was it that were using a coupon or what But I was a little unhappy, My dinner priced lunch portion ABC was bland, small and the fried rice was meadyoaker at best with 2 pieces of lettuce under one side of the chicken ( I'm used to seeing a bed of lettuce ) My mom had the Chinese fried shrimp with white rice, no sauce, no gravy, just fried shrimp and white rice, when asked if any sauce comes with it she pointed to the VERY COLD PLUM SAUCE ( that I forgot to menchin above when got our egg rolls,....sorry ) The fried shrimp were like jumbo size and were OK but would have been better with maybe with some sweet and sour sauce or something. My mom was a little disappointed and so was I, then the waitress asked if I wanted a refill on my pop, I said no thanx and she said " No its OK, I changed it in the back " why didn't she say this 10 minutes ago" o.k" I said, she came back and the soft drink tasted like it was half diet and HALF REGULAR POP...AAAHHHHH. the dinner rolls...sigh...The dinner rolls here hard on to top but warm and soft inside, " alright something not bad, let me get some of this butter and." lets just imagine little cubes of butter buried 100 feet underneath the artic ice and then brought them to the surface and teleported straight to Pearl City restaurant, I guess what I'm say is that the Butter was FROZEN...FROZEN...AAAHHHH. WHY LORD, WHY. we asked for carry out bags, my mom bought a small bag of the Chinese cracker things ( 1 bag is $1 ) and I asked for a side of ABC gravy for the white rice ( 60 cents ) I should have asked for a side of sweet and sour sauce or orange sauce for the shrimp but I didn't think about until now. we will Probably not be returning, So Boys and Girls remember this lesson, sometimes you may have a coupon but it might be worth going to a place your familiar with that don't have coupons.

This place is absolutely disgusting. One evening my boyfriend and I made the poor decision to come here for dinner. We previously had a few good experiences here but this trip would be our last. As we sat at our table we heard a noise coming from the vacant, blocked off room of the restaurant. It sounded like something struggling for its life. The table that was near us asked the waitress what the noise was and she said there was a television on in that room. A television making the same repeating noise and with no lights flashing? I lost my appetite especially since I ordered "chicken" which was probably cat or dog or whatever animal they are holding in the vacant room. I rushed home and called the cops after we left and it just so happens they CLOSED early for the night. How convenient. I wouldn't suggest this place to anyone.

If I had a choice I would rate this place (zero) stars. After reading other reviews they have confirmed to me that what I was feeling about this place is correct. I have been going to this place to eat since I was a young lady with my mom. I am now 47 and I visit this restaurant maybe 3 times per year. This past Friday 11-16-2013 my husband and I ate at Pearl City for maybe the last time. So sad to see that many establishments are cutting cost and the consumer is the one paying for it. They are using (processed cheap turkey lunch meat) in place of the chicken in the stir fried rice and also in the "egg" foo young patties. How can they get away with this. It isn't even chicken!! Mushy gross cheap processed turkey lunch meat! I also agree with another yelper that the diet Pepsi was lacking flavor. I think they are cutting back on the Pepsi syrup and giving the consumer more of the carbonated water. The egg rolls used to be stuffed with the filling and now there isn't hardly any filling to find. It is sad to see this place going down since it has been there for so long. But the consumer is smart enough to know what is good / great and down- right unacceptable. This place is unacceptable for me and my husband. You should get what you paid for and from what I understand "turkey lunchmeat is NOT chicken". Shame on you Pearl City for treating your loyal customers like this!!

This place used to be the best around until ten yrs ago. Decided to give it ago again cause I heard it had new owners. The food was great! And cheap, all for around $9 bucks for a dinner meal. I had the Sesame Chicken, and it was just like the old days. I will be going back here again. The interior has not changed in 25yrs, but who cares. Keep the food good!

Pearl City is one in a whole slew of middle of the road Chinese restaurants. I just reviewed Golden Wok - GW and Pearl City are comparable in quality, service, and pricing. What sets them apart is what is good and what is bad. I'd much rather have a spring roll from Pearl City than GW. Pearl also has a really great Tso's. It's rare to find a place that does Tso's decently. I might suggest getting soup somewhere else. What is it with places messing up egg drop or won tons? For shame! Not a bad place, but not a great one either. Granted, you can fill up for under $10, but cheapness doesn't always mean that it's a great place. It's a decent place.

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions.
